File/Printer Sharing Not Working
2 identical X61 with XP and Intel Wireless WiFi Link AGN. 2 different home networks, one Belkin, one NetGear. Both connect to network. Both are set for file and printer sharing. Neither can see or be seen by other computers on same network or connect to shared printers. Have used 2 "expert" troubleshooting guides with no result. Every other laptop that has ever been used or has been a guest on these networks has connected with no problem and "seen" network resources.
Is there some obscure setting somewhere in Access or elsewhere that enables/disables networking other resources on same network?

See -> http://www.vistax64.com/vista-networking-sharing/72537-file-printer-sharing-turned-off-reboot.html Here is the text. Re: File and Printer sharing turned off on reboot
I FOUND MY SOLUTION!!!
In my case, it was in Lenovo's "ThinkVantage Access Connections" applet. It
is additional security that is applied at the CONNECTION level.
Here is how I fixed it:
1. Double click on the ThinkVantage Access Connections applet in the
notification area.
2. Click on the MANAGE button on the toolbar
3. Select the SSID where you want File Sharing to work, and click EDIT
4. Click on the ADDITIONAL SETTINGS tab
5. Next to "Network Security", click the SETTINGS button
6. The first option in Security Settings is "Disable file and printer
sharing". UNCHECK this box. Click OK for 3 levels of dialog boxes, then
close Access Connections
Although these directions are specific to ThinkPad notebooks, the same
principle may apply for other manufacturers' connection managers.
Best of luck!

10.3 to 10.5 Canon MP500 Print Sharing not working - Apple's Fault
I have an iMac which I upgraded to 10.5. When I did this it stopped being able to print to our Canon MP500 connected to our G3 running 10.3.9 I think I just had regular drivers installed and turned print sharing on....no longer works.
Whats the deal?????? Its Apples fault because I didn't change anything. How can they advertise "it just works" when it clearly doesn't. Why are they not supporting their old machines/software?
I've mailed Canon, but I doubt they have a working solution. I tried installing the cups driver on the 10.5 machine, but I didn't see anything come up.
any actual solutions would be great. This is ****** up.Have a look at this Apple article.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2275
This explains the workaround to let your 10.5 Mac find the 10.3 printer share.

E3000 support file & print sharing
I recently bought an E3000 to replace my failed WRT54G v5. With the E3000 I can't get my shared Windows folders to be accessed from my other PCs. I called telephone support and they informed me that the E3000 doesn't support file & printer sharing. WTH? Is this true? If so, I'm going to return the E3000 and get my money back. But I never heard of a router not supporting file & printer sharing. My WRT54G handled it just fine.
There may be more than cause for this problem but I was able to fix it using some suggestions from others.
The following assumes your network shares work OK until the E3000 is connected. For example, you may replace an older router with the E3000 (and sharing worked OK with the older browser) or you add the E3000 to an existing network where sharing was working OK.
The E3000 can make an attached USB stick or HD accessible on the network as a shared device. If you don't need this, change the workgroup name (under Storage -> Administration) to something that is NOT the same as the workgroup name on your computers. How about "E3000Storage" or something like that?
You may need to restart one of the computers on your network after you change the setting in the router. After the restart, you should be able to use your network shares.
Here is my theory of the problem. Computers in a peer-to-peer network must decide with computer acts as the master for network requests (called the Master Browser). There must be one and only one Master Browser for each workgroup. Apparently the E3000 either becomes the one Master Browser and then malfunctions or it interferes with the computer that is the Master Browser. By putting computers in one workgroup and the E3000 in another workgroup, the interference is avoided. -
Screen Sharing not working locally but fine remotely
There is a lot to this, so I'll be as brief and direct as possible.
I've been using Screen Sharing to connect to a headless Mac mini for a while now (used as file and media server).
Today I updated some Brother printer and scanner drivers in the Mac mini and all as good.
I had just finished adjusting all the settings and getting my iMac to use the new shared printers when the mini made a strange "meeep" sound like an error (the error sound is something else) - and no more Screen Sharing - locally.
I used my iPhone and VNC app to connect to mini without problem (through a different wifi network), but my local iMac cannot Screen Share. File sharing and print sharing work just fine (well, a little slow now to connect initially). Seems liek a local network problem to be but I haven't been able to resolve it.
Tried Chicken of the VNC and it times out (also shows a "second" server of the same name with Host: "address resolve failed".
All connected though Time Capsule and wifi.
Ideas?The iMac could not screen share to the Mac mini on the samee network/subnet. So I later tried to set up another iMac on a different network to connect via VNC/BTMM through the Internet (port 5900 is open on the router/WAP) and it connected fine.
I noticed that BTMM was having problems staying stable once I used it from the other iMac. So I looked into the network to see what might need changing. I had always been running with "double-NAT" without any problems before but thought this cold be contributing to the BTMM stability issue which might translate to the issue of being able to share files and printers but not VNC/screen sgaring on the same network. After fixing that and running through a few other minor adjustments (and MANY hours of troble-shooting) it is working just fine again.
So, I'm not sure if the double-NAT was the problem (had been working fine for a LOOOONG time) or if it was something else. I know you aren't "supposed" to run a double-NAT but the different networks were segregated and should not have caused any problems like I saw. I figure some change I made with the printer/scanner driver (sharing?) must have overtaxed the router....I was also getting conatcnt polling from my iMac looking for the Brother printer on mDNS which was causing a lot of exess traffic so I deleted all Broter communicatipon software just to be safe.
Anyway, I hope if anybody else has a similar problem (file/print sharing working but screen sharing/VNC not), they can look at their network to make sure they don't have double-NAT (common on DSL Internet connections, too!). -
Hi All,
I have developed a program to display two alv reports. The program when executed displays the first report and on the click of a push button it wud display the second report. The standard icons are all working in the first report but few icons like print, local file save are not working in the second screen. Can anyone help me on this?

ITunes 10.6.3 home sharing not working properly
iTunes 10.6.3 home sharing not working properly. I can access with my three ATV2's watch a movie later that same day it tries to access and ATV2 just keeps trying and never gets through to the library. If I restart iTunes its fine then later can't access. I am running iTunes 10.6.3 on a i7 Mac Mini with 10.7.4. Sole job is to be iTunes server and an occasional HTPC with remote buddy running. I disabled remote buddy ajax remote feature, and file sharing is on so I can load new tracks form other macs Thats it, a vanilla install with all updates.. No problem prior but not sure if problem free period was with 10.6 earler versions or 10.5 versions. I update as warnings to do so come up. The remote app has same problem accessing the Home Share. I disabled home sharing on my iPhone and set to access the old method with 4 digit code and sees all the time and will play to my express base stations so seems to be home sharing issue because iPhone apps with home sharing on and ATV2s have issue accessing.
I'm never home but when I am I use this equipment loads and this weekend not reliable at all. I have firewall disabled, and setup is as before and is working fine. I am using Mini by ethernet and using AEBS 1st generation gigabit as router only wired to cable modem and whole house ethernet attached, latest version AEBS gigabit as a wireless bridge and 2 prior version 11n expresses and a 11g express, all expresses are set to wireless off and are connected to ethernet and then to a stereo in 3 different rooms.
I can't be only one. Considering downgrading to last version of 10.5 but not sure how to do this.
How many of you are having trouble?
Any resolutions?
How to report to Apple?
How to downgrade safely? Or is it 10.7.4?I ran into the specific problem in another thread. There are more than 100 connections from the apple TV's to iTunes. You can do a netstat -a (windows or Mac), and verify the problem. iTunes is smart enough to stop allowing more than 100 connections but stupid to allow the ATV to create so many connections.
Now for what you really want! Set all of your ATVs to wifi only. Even setting the iTunes host to wifi might help also. I think that wifi is more unreliable, and forces connections to drop, keeping the count under 100.
I also turned off ip v6. That could help you also. I originally had problems on a Mac mini, and built a windows 7 box to try to fix the problem. The wifi trick worked on both platforms. Several of us have bug reports into apple. I have a wired house also, and am very angry to NEED to use slow wifi to overcome this problem. The ATV gen 3 has been able to keep up with 1080p over wifi, so it doesn't hurt too much. What really hurts is spending over 40 hours troubleshooting this bug. -
Flex Print Job not working with custom component
Hi All,
I have to print pages with header, body and footer. So the thought process was to create a custom component fro header, footer and body. Header component is based on Box, Body is a renderer (which will have fix value of items - and will decide the number of possible pages) and footer is again based on Box.
But when i created a simple Custom component like this for header
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:VBox xmlns:fx=http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009
xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx">
<fx:Declarations>
<!-- Place non-visual elements (e.g., services, value objects) here -->
</fx:Declarations>
<mx:HBox> <mx:Label id="testLabel" text="Test Container"/>
</mx:HBox>
</mx:VBox>
Then when i try to add this to FlexPrintJob, and save it as 'xps' to see the print output, i get error message that this file is in use or damaged.
var myPrintJob:FlexPrintJob = new FlexPrintJob();
if(!myPrintJob.start()){
return;
var header:Header = new Header();
header.width = myPrintJob.pageWidth;
header.visible = false;
FlexGlobals.topLevelApplication.addChild(panierPrintHeader);
myPrintJob.addObject(header);
myPrintJob.send();
FlexGlobals.topLevelApplication.removeChild(panierPrintHeader);
But this does not work and i get the above mentioned exception. Now when i not use the custom component and just have a label or HBox or anything on stage before the print functionality is invoked, it works fine. And this too haapens only if you have a mxml component, i tried by creating a new Label component using actionscript and then provide the same to the printJob, which did not work either. I need help on this, else i will have to take print functionality to server side(Java) which has some business implications, the reason why i am spending time on flex for printing.
Thanks and Regards,
Jigar
Looks like custom component print is not working fine with flex or i am doing something terribly wrong.
Looking forward for help.Is there nobody in flex community who can help on this....
Looks like a toothless class that adobe actionscript team has provided, which is not liked across much -
Converting WordPerfect to PDF with desktop printer tool: Not working
I have been a monthly subscriber to Adobe CreatePDF for many years! I work mainly with Correl WordPerfect, but with the change to the Pack version it is not supported. I downloaded the desktop printer tool; it is installed. However, when I follow instructions and print, I get nothing. Where does the PDF go? What can I do? Please help! I cannot continue to pay monthly if I don't get service.
Thank you very much. I have uninstall adobe desktop printer tool and my wordperfect. Next step is follow your suggestions but I am no computer anything, lol. 1. How do I know if I have a win 7 sp1? I have win 7 that much I know. 2. Where can download the hotfix? 3. With adobe createpdf, I didn't need adobe ps printer setup, I don't have a laser printer at home, I have an hp inkjet printer.
Please help again and soon, :).

Print button not working with Xerox pluggins installed
Thanks to the wonderful people here I found that if you have any Xerox plugins in /Library/Printers/PPD Plugins you can experience the print button not working.
Removing them fixes it which is nice but I need the plugins, anyone know a work arround?I've seen this happen with some of our Xerox PPD's on PC's. The cause in this case, is their reference to virtual memory with older OS systems.
I instead used an older PPD or a PPD I had edited to support 200"x200" custom pages sizes, supporting full color.
All I needed was a clean postscript file.
The Adobe 7 PPD writes clean PS.
If you need some kind of VIPP instructions in your PPD for the Xerox, I'd look at getting a newer PPD form Xerox made for OSX. -
Print Screen not working for user but working for Administrator
Satellite A100 Laptop Print Screen Not working for USER but is working for Administrator[ New ]
09-14-2009 11:25 AM
Hi I am new to this forum and am asking for your help. We are sharing a computer, the PrtSc key is working for the Administrator but not when we switch users. We have tried everything that we can think of: From opening a the page(S) we want to paste to not opening the pages. My most common usage is to PrtSc and paste it into an email , but barring that we have tried opening a page in notes, documents, word etc . Nothing seems to work. I do not get an error message , it just won't paste. Since we are not computer literate we are hoping you can help us with a solution . Thanks in Advance .Jerry, that post you just answered was from nearly 4 1/2 years ago! And that's the last time the OP was here.

Since upgrading to OS X yosemite my printer will not work.
Since upgrading to OS X Yosemite my printer will not work.
I found the solution in another thread. Thanks to frankglyn who posted it there.
I've just copied it here, as this seems to be the most active thread on this subject.
The solution (steps A to C) worked fine for me and others and should work for you as well, until Kodak will come with an updated driver. Then, you can revert the changes as also described below (steps 1 to 7)
A) in Spotlight Type Terminal and then press enter.
This should bring up the terminal window/program.
B) In the Terminal type sudo sh -c 'echo "Sandboxing Relaxed" >> /etc/cups/cups-files.conf'
It will ask for your password.
C) After that type following: sudo launchctl stop org.cups.cupsd
After that if you are lucky the printer driver should start to work. (which it did in my case)
I hope this works out for you, if not then you can do following to revert the changes:
In case you want/have to revert the changes:
1) Open the terminal as usual (Spotlight type Terminal hit enter and wait for the terminal window to appear)
2) then type: cd /etc/cups
3) then type: sudo nano cups-files.conf
4) 'type in your password'
This brings up a command line editor which you can use to edit the file
5) Remove the last line which says Sandboxing Relaxed
6) press 'ctrl x'
And then confirm with y when being asked if you want to save the changes
7) after that type sudo launchctl start org.cups.cupsd -
I upgraded from leopard to lion and my Epson printer will not work. I get a error message comunication error. What can Ido to fix this I bought a new USB cord and it did no good.
I suddenly had the same thing happen. I've had my new iMac for 3 months and at first my Epson Artisan 50 worked okay then yesterday I started getting the same error message other people on this support site have gotten. I tried ALL the advice given (deleating the Epson files from the library folder, etc. reinstalling older software) and nothing worked. With the newest iMac (and operating system) you cannot pick and choose which version of Epson software you want. You must use the 10.8 version or it simply will not open when you've downloaded it. Finally I found the comment above by den.thed and tried the OS X Mountain Lion: Reset the printing system suggested. As much as I hated to lose all my printing presets that took a lot of expiermentation to set up, I was desperate. I tried it and it worked. Now I just have to consult my old computer and try to recreate all my printing set ups. So to others with Epson / Apple 10.8 issues this may help when everything else fails. Thanks den.thed for your advice.

Printer will not work after update to Mavericks
I have a macbook pro and an HP7280 printer connected wirelessly. After upgrading to Mavericks the printer will not work. The first time I used it the system upgraded automatically (I forget what it said but it just went ahead and did some upgrading) When I clicked on something to print it did recognized the printer but just scrolled and scrolled and never printed. So I deleted the printer and reset the system and then added the printer back on - same thing. Any ideas??
It means there is no issue with the driver you are using and with it working correctly on Mavericks. So you have a network issue with the printer queue you are using. Normally a reset of the printing system and re-adding the printer would be enough to get things working again. But since you have done this and your issue is not resolved, there must be some other gremlins in the system.
With the HP connected to the network, if you know its IP address you can enter this as a URL into a web browser. This should result in you connecting to the internal web page of the HP. Does this work?
