Filesize displaying in "save for web..." is inaccurate in Photoshop CS6
Hi,
I was trying to save an image below 60kb as a jpg in "save for web...".
I manage to do so in the "optimized" window panel by reducing the quality image to 55 (the panel on the right side)
Optimized was checked.
On the left side, below the image I can see it was written JPEG/ 57.39 K
When I saved into my MAC, my file was 60kb...unlike what it was said in the "save for web..." panel.
Anyone can tell me how is possible to save exactly below 60kb? or the software has an actual problem showing the incorrect filesize.
Thank you.
It might be that it's an estimate of the image. You have metadata that may be saved with it.
I uncheck "Embed Color Profile" and I set the Metadata to "none"
See if that makes any difference.

Save for web crashes - Win7 64bit, Photoshop CC 14
Intermittently save for web and other function (usually related to saving) crash. I'm running a brand new Win7 64bit box with latest version of CC - Photoshop CC 14. It's crash list thing since I first got Photoshop - so it's not something new, it's been doing this since I have installed the software. I have no 3rd party plugins installed and Photoshop doesn't give me a crash report when it does crash.

Save for web really slooooow in Photoshop CC
Hi all,
Since one of the last updates, whenever I try to save an image using the Save for web function, the dialog screens take a lot of time to appear (worked normally before). I am not using large images, just 1100x700 px approximately that I reduced to that size for a website. But when I try to save them for web, the first dialog screen takes a while to appear, and when I hit Save, that save screen also takes a long time to show up.
It doesn't happen always, but most of the time, and it is really annoying when I have to save a lot of images, it makes me loose a lot of time. Sometimes when I am saving a series of images, with the first ones it goes slow, then works normally with some, and then again slowww.
My machine is an Intel i7 with 16gb of memory running on Windows 8. I hope you can help me with this issue.
Thanks in advance!
DiegoYes, sorry, forgot to clarify that. I am saving it to my local hard drive, that is why it is so strange.

Cannot save for web - unknown system error Photoshop CS5
I've attached the error I recieve here: http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/5624/screenshot20101027at122.png
What happens is I create any new document, and when I try to save for web it comes up with "unknown system error has occurred'. Prior to this it worked perfectly (pretty much just 2 hours ago)! Also, my Photoshop CS4 stil works properly. I've been searching for solutions but nothing has come up in regards to this particular error.
I'm running the CS5 Extended edition suite, on 10.6.4 if this helps.Hi,
Could you please send your system info to me([email protected]) to have a look?
Thanks,

Option help in Save for Web & Devices dialog
When down sampling images for use in a DPS folio, what settings should be chosen in the Save for Web & Devices dialog in Photoshop?
I need to figure out why my trim option is always grayed out. It's saved in PSD format, yet the option to trim the transparent pixels is grayed out. why is that? what am I doing wrong? I must have to change something.
Thanks in advance, Linda -
Color management in Save for Web not working
The Save for Web dialog box in the CS6 Beta is ignoring color profiles, so color is not managed. This has not been a problem in previous versions.
The saved output is just fine. I was referring to the images in the Save for Web dialogue
I just checked my settings. CS6 apparently changed my Preview setting from "Use Document Profile" to "Monitor Color." It also changed my Metadata setting. It should not do that!
Restoring the correct Preview setting solved the color management problem, but ONLY for the Preview image. The Original image is still not color managed.
I'm on a wide-gamut monitor, so sRGB images come out looking garish if there's no color profile embedded or it's ignored. That's what's happening here with the Original image in Save for Web. I imported an sRGB image with profile embedded, and it looks just fine in Photoshop while editing. Then I went to Save for Web, with the settings Embed Color Profile, Convert to sRGB, and Preview: Use Document Profile. The JPEG preview too looks just fine with these settings, but the Original looks garish, showing a lack of color management. The color in the two views is showing as completely different, though they both represent the same image with the same color profile embedded.
Going back to CS5, the same image is properly color managed in both Original and Preview. Both images show identical color, as they should. -
Photoshop CS3 "Save for web" doesn't work
Hi everybody. I noticed one weird thing. When I want to use "Save for web" function on my Photoshop CS3 to save some jpg file and reduce size, the dialog window just doesn't appear. I clicked Save for web and nothing happen. The window of the file a wanted to save just get grey. I'm new in CS3 an it worked well in my CS2. BTW I use MacBook Pro and CS3 for Mac.
Guys, any ideas?
Thanx a lot. :-)Hi all,
Deleting the SFW prefs worked for me.
My Photoshop CS3 was working fine till I (probably unwisely) tinkered with system files to free up some space.
Re-installed CS3 from scratch but still couldnt "Save for web".
Then I found this tip suggesting deleting the SFW prefs and BINGO! Back in acion.
Thanks for the tip.

Photoshop CS6. Save for Web Problem - Don't remember folder location
Hi!
Found one more problem with Save For Web in Photoshop CS6.
Example:
1. New Document
2. Choose - Save for web
3. In dialog window Photoshop CS6 offer to save in - os My Document Folder
4. Ok, every time I don't really need to save in os folders - I save files to my folders. So, change folder ...for example to disc D
5. Create another New document
6. Choose Save for web
7. And.... - Photoshop CS6 offer to save my file in os My Documents AGAIN !!!
So, in fact it's real uncomortable!!! ...if I save different files for web frequently ....I need every time change My Documents....it makes me nervous.......
Here - compare with CS3: CS3 remember "old" folder location even at another session (for example - after reload os)
Is there any fix this problem?
p.s. Testing on:
OS - windows 7 64 bit
cs6 - 64 bit extended
cs3 - 64 bit extendedNoel, Yes! In your example everything works like on your video. May be my explanation was not so clear, so...I'm trying to describe in more details.
I don't know how to make video & animated gif by capture the screen...so I'll try to explain by words
1. Start CS6
2. Make New Document
3. Save for Web (save parametres are: JPEG, HIGH etc....I think it doesn't matter)
4. CS6 offer "My Documents"
5. Change the way to "Disc D"
6. Save it by name for example "Untitled-1".... & close window "Save for web"
7. Choose "Save for Web" again
....So, at this step - CS6 remember my current location "Disc D" even I open other file & use command "Save for web"...it saves to Disc D. Everything is ok.
....continue:
8. Shut down the CS6
9. Run it again
10. Create new file or....even open saved file on disc D in previous session - "Untitled-1"
11. Save for Web
So, it's final: CS6 offer the "My documents" AGAIN
....continue:
12. Run CS6 - Make New File - Save for Web to disc D by name "Untitled-1"
13. Keep the photoshop session & create new document...let's call it "Untitled-2" - so, now I have 2 files opened in CS6: "Untitled-1" (it was saved on disc D before) & new "Untitled-2"
14. So if I'll try to save second file "Untitled-2" fo web CS6 offer the way "My documents" AGAIN!
p.s. Tryied to do the same on CS3 - Shut down CS3 2-3 times, opened different files, create new docs - there's no trouble. In global - CS3 remember last way (in my case it's "Disc D") & doesn't change it by itself. In fact working in CS3 I din't feel any problems with this command "Save for Web", that's the reason I didn't write any questions on forums etc..... But starting to try CS6 I really feel it makes the work to change every time the folder ways not so comfortable...so I wrote the question here
p.s. 2 In spite of I didn't work in CS4-CS5 cause it were not comfortable in my opinion....now I wanted to test "save for web" in CS5. Trouble is the same even during one session:
1. Run CS5
2. Create new document
3. Save for web - CS5 offer "My Dociment", change it to "disc D" - save - ok
4. Shut down, run CS5 again
5. Create New, or even Opened old saved file to disc D (for example from step 3) - CS5 offer the way "My documents" again
I hope this my explanation was more clear to understand -
I have images with the copyright notice field, copyright status, provider and source fields filled in.
When I do a save for web, I'm trying to adjust the IPTC data that gets saved but nothing I do seems to work. On thumbnails, I don't need any of that data but I can't get it removed. No matter what I select, there's always stuff in the copyright notice field.
Similarly, if I try to simply change the copyright status field and leave everything else as is, I usually lose (data gets wiped out) provider and source and I get extra data put into the copyright URL field which wasn't there before.
I also get the file data cannot be read error when opening up these files sometimes because photoshops seems to mess up how it writes the IPTC data. Image data seems file, it's only when photoshop fills in the copyright url with the same data from the copyright notice without asking me.
In CS2, I had to use ImageReady because it would wipe out all the data and then I just used iView to easily put back in the 3 fields I was using. Now that IR is gone, I figure I need to migrate this to CS3 but no matter what combination of options I select, it seems metadata handling is horribly inconsistent.
Can anyone tell me how it works? I've tried making a script step to set the data I want, I've tried working with an image with the fields the way I want them and then doing the save for web so it records the data I want, I've tried both with and without the include XMP option but I can't seem to get anything to work properly.
Edit: Didn't make it clear but I'm trying to record a batch action where I scale images to 6 different sizes and then do a save for web at each size.
Please help.
ThanksDepending on your use of the image in context, won't the transparent strip "disappear?"
The only solution I know is to open it in Photoshop and manually crop out the transparent strip. AI or Save for Web also seems to antialias the edge of free-standing art over a transparent background. I just make the artwork slightly larger than the final cropped size, save for web, then crop in Photoshop. -
Dear Adobe,
This is a very serious plea to add copyright info when using the "save for web" feature. Save for Web is one of Photoshops most valuable features but without the ability to at least save copyright info many of us can not use this. Is there a reason I am missing? After what has transpired in the last 24 hours with the Orphaned Works bill, this has become 100 times more important.
Thanks
Troy
PS Photographers, please add your feelings below and write adobe if you agree.>Any user can "claim" that they had no way to find the creator of the image since their is no metadata attached to the image.
There may also be a fundamental misunderstanding of protecting images on a web page here. There are very, very, very few people that will be looking at meta data in an image for copyright. And few applications will even reveal that meta data to the user.
You can't stop someone from taking your image from your site and you can't track what they do with it. The best way that anyone can try to protect their copyright is to stamp a visible mark somewhere on the image that not only announces copyright but points the viewer to your site (ex: © 2008 Joe Photography - joephoto.com). So if someone steals your image and posts it elsewhere, other viewers will know where to find the source. The image thief may be your best marketer. -
Adobe Save for Web and Devices Error
I had a problem with Save for Web and Devices in Photoshop CS4 - and am posting the solution for anyone else that might encounter this (posted previously for Mac but not Windows). This problem suddenly occurred - and I'm not sure why. I had the most updated Photoshop CS4 version: 11.0.2.
Issue: When I tried to overwrite an existing image using Save for Web and Devices, I received an "Adobe Save for Web & Devices Error": "Could not write the file. A file system error has occurred"
This error prevented any file (originally created using Save for Web &Devices) from being saved again with the same name. I figured out the solution by finding the resolution for Mac Photoshop and adapting it for the PC version. The solution for me was to delete the following files: "Default Settings.iros" and "Recently Used Optimizations.irs" (the only two files present) in the following directory:
C:\Documents and Settings\[user profile name]\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS4 Settings\en_US\Save for Web Settings\
Note that there were other sub-directories of the "Save for Web Settings" folder - I didn't touch any of those. The problem is now resolved and Photoshop seems to function normally.Honestly, I haven't had problems with reading/writing files to/from network drives, but I have read on this forum that there are times when it causes problems for people.
And yes, if you used the command line NET USE (or the Explorer Map Network Drive) function to create the drive, it is actually using Windows Networking behind the scenes.

Hello all, all of a sudden my Save for Web is disabled in Photoshop CC for all files, including files that I have sliced and saved for web before. I have tried restarting to no avail. Any guidance is appreciated. Thanks!

Are Photoshop and OS fully updated and have you performed the usual trouble-shooting routines (trashing prefs by pressing command-alt-shift/ctrl-alt-shift while starting Photoshop until the appropriate dialog appears after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed, 3rd party plug-ins deactivation, system maintenance, cleaning caches, font validation, etc.) -
