Filter the results set for custom iviews in SAP MDM

We have a scenario where based on the user name/user role we want to filter the results retrieved by an search result iview developed for accessing data from SAP MDM Repository.
E.g.
We have a lookup table called Plants which contains master data pertaining to  manufacturing plants.
The portal user P00100xxyy is responsible for maintaining master data for a plant 1101. However, the plant lookup contains data for other plants as well.
We would like to prevent the user P00100xxyy to see/modify data for other plants in the table.
We have explored the core MDM functionality of security/constraints. It does not provide row level granularity and we are hoping that the iview approach can help us achieve row level filters.

Hi Rajni thanx for ur prompt reply
The actual problem is that :
we have approx near about 100 Account Group, so it would become very complex to replicate same condition 100 times
AND
these account group may keep on increasing so even maintenance point of view it would be hard to maintain.
can u tell me some other way to do it, i mean is there any other feature by which we can perform validation in MDM.

Kuldeep

    Hi,
       I assigned below parameters in rz10 :

    rsau/max_diskspace/per_day                  1950M
    rsau/max_diskspace/per_file                 650M
    rsau/enable                                               1
       I activated security audit profile in sm19 also.But when iam going to sm20 for analysis of security audit log iam not getting report iam getting this message  :     The result set for this selection was empty.
    Gudie me for the same.
    Thanku

    Hi,
    The result set for this selection was empty.
    I think your configuration is OK except one thing...
    Check in SM19, if you have selected "Filter Active" check box in "Filter 1 and Filter 2" screen and Also "Audit Classess".
    Even though security audit is enabled in SM19, without selecting filter it will not log the events and give you the above message.

  • How can we fetch the information from standard ItemDetails iView of SAP MDM

    Hi Portal/MDM experts,
    Is there any chance to fetch the information from standard ItemDetails iView? if it is possible please tell me the process.
    If it's not, how can we customize the ItemDetails iView using java WebDynpro .
    my requirement is, I have to fetch some of information from itemdetails iview and it'll be used in other WebDynpro  application, means we have fetch some details from itemdetails iview and populate them in another application. Please suggest me the procedure to do this.
    Regards,
    Mahi.

    Hi Mahi,
    Please follow the below steps:
    1. Create the Result Set iView.
    2. Select the Custom Events button and Add the Custom Event
    3. Select Event Type=EPCF
    4. Give Event Name=EpfcTest and Namespace=urn:com.sap.tc.webdynpro.mdm.epfc.test
    5. Select the desired fields to be passed to the WebDynpro application and give the parameter name.
    6. Save the iView
    7. Create WebDynpro application and write the below code.
    public void wdDoInit()
        //@@begin wdDoInit()
    namespace = "urn:com.sap.tc.webdynpro.mdm.epfc.test";
    eventname = "EpfcTest";
    WDPortalEventing.subscribe (namespace,eventname,wdThis.wdGetCatchValueAction());
        //@@end
    public void onActionCatchValue(com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.api.IWDCustomEvent wdEvent, java.lang.String dataObject )
        //@@begin onActionCatchValue(ServerEvent)
    int marked=dataObject.indexOf("=");
    String value=dataObject.substring(marked+1);
    wdContext.currentContextElement().setCatchedValue(value);
        //@@end
    variable Data Object will contain all the Mapped fileds separated by ;. You can then use the String functions to separate the parameters.

  • How to Colour the fields in the Result Set of the query

    Hi all,
    I am having a requirement wher the user want to view the queries results with some colour to the char in the result set.
    suppose customer is the row he want to view some customers with one color and some with different color.
    Is it possible in Bi.
    If so Plz let me know
    Regards

    Hi Priya,
    for the macro thing, you will have to create a workbook and store your query into it, because macros are attached to only workbooks and not queries.
    in the workbook screen (i.e. excel), go to tools --> Macro --> Visual Basic Editor. or simply press Alt + F11. this will take you to macro editor screen.
    you can use code that may look something like below to color the columns, you can also give constant column if they are fixed.
    sub ColorColumns(rngTarget As Range, _
        intColor As Integer)
    Dim c As Long
        With rngTarget
            .Interior.ColorIndex = intColour
            Next c
        End With
    End Sub
    You will find some easy and short snippets for this.

  • Custome Event for the Result Set iView

    Hi,
    does anybody know how to set up the Custom Event on the Result Set iView in order to trigger an event when a record is selected?
    I know how to do it using an event Type = EPCF + Event Name + Namespace, but this creates an extra colum on the Result Set iView with the Custom Event name on it, that has to be click in order to trigger the event. I do not want click on this column, i just want to create the event when the record is selected.
    Regards
    Diego.

    Hi Diego,
    We are also implementing similar scenario.
    We also want to open a window on the clik of any column of the result and if the result is zero we want to trigger some another iView.
    So if u have found any solution can u just let me know.
    OR else can u  just elaborate on ur current scenario using EPCF and custom event.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi,
    Is there a way to restrict the no. of entries in the Result set iView.
    Whenever I create a result set iView , it gets loaded with all the entries of the search table it is associated with.
    Is there a way to restrict to say 5 or 6 entries.

  • JdbcodbcDriver uses the wrong charSet for interpreting the result set data

    Hi everyone,
    I?m having trouble getting results from a MS Access database which uses Greek characters. All the characters in the range 0-127 are returned good but I get ??? for all above 127.
    Here is some more details:
    OS: win2k
    Local setting for current user: Greek (not that it makes a difference)
    Default Language setting for the System: English (Astralia). This uses charSet Cp1252 or ISO 8859-1 encoding.
    Environment: JBuilder 7.0
    JDK: 1.4.1
    DB: MS Access
    DB charSet: Cp1253 (Greek encoding or ISO 8859-7)
    Connection method:
         java.util.Properties prop = new java.util.Properties();
         prop.put("user" , userName);
         prop.put("password" , password);
         //driver is "sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver";
         //none of these work
         //prop.put("charSet", "UTF-8");
         //prop.put("charSet", "Greek");
         prop.put("charSet", "Cp1253");
         connection = DriverManager.getConnection(MY_ACCESS_DB,prop);
    DataSet Access method:
         // run query and get resultSet rs here
         char[] cBuff= new char[1000];
         // I have tried getString(), getBytes(), getBinaryStream also
         Reader rReader = rs.getCharacterStream(3);
         BufferedReader fIn = new BufferedReader(rReader);
         int res = fIn.read(cBuff, 0, 999);
         // contents of cBuff is incorrect here
    I have also used -Dfile.encoding=Cp1253 in command line which seems to change the default charSet of the JVM. Tested
         String en = new InputStreamReader(System.in).getEncoding();
         System.out.println("Default encoding: " + en);
    By enabling trace and looking at the content of the resultSet object it shows that
    rs.OdbcApi.charSet = "Cp1253"
    So I'm absolutely stumped. The only possible problems I can think of is either a bug in the jdbcodbcDriver or in my native ODBC driver. The latter is less likely since I connected to the same datasouce using a different application and get the right result.
    One more thing that may be helpful, if I set up the default charSet under Win2K to "Greek" (that is setting default language setting in Regional Options under Control Panel)
    Everything works fine.
    Is there anyone out there with answer to my problem?
    Thanks in advance.

    Tried your program and it does exactly as I expected. I get a whole lot of '?'s with my OS default language setting on English but it works fine as soon as I set it to Greek. It does not make a difference if I change the "input language" on the language bar (shift+ctrl) to Greek or not. Or if I change the charSet in your program to something else. Which bring up the question what do you use the charSet setting on your program for? If it is for byte conversion, I don't think you need it since the OS default charset is used by ResultSet.GetString and that needs to be set anyway.
    Anyhow your program basically behaves exactly the same way as mine does. I am almost 100% sure that the problem is with the properties used (or not used) when creating the connections. There has got to be a (provider) property like "useUnicode" or "charSet" or something that is passed through jdbcodbc bridge to ODBC to MS Access to force it to return the result set in UTF-8 format. I confirmed this by using Visual C++ data access program that i wrote (which has the same sort of problem). All other MS Office products know about this property that why they work when i imort data from them.
    This means I don't have a jdbc or even a java problem but my problem is MS Access related. So Im going to post a question on an MS Access user group (if I find one) and see what I get). Thanks for your help with this.
    By the way AOKabc crashed once and froze another time. I think it had more to do with the libraries you are using rather than your code. I have a trace log if you are interested.

  • Adding new item to a result page for customer search

    Hi all,
    I have the following requirement :
    In Sales Dashboard,once the user queries for customer, the result table shows name, registery id, address and some other fields.
    I have to add another column 'Account Number', which will display customer number of the customer. With forms personalization, I was able to show the column, but how do I get the value of account_number to display in this column?
    Sorry for the basic question. I am new to OAF and have started reading the guidelines.
    I just need help with the directions I need to go ahead in.
    TIA,
    AZ

    Go to "about this page" link and check the associated VO. if the VO already has the required field which you are looking for, then just set those VO name and attribute. Otherwise you will have to go for substitution.
    Search on forum and you will find many similar discussions.

  • How to add a dummy row in the result set of a SELECT statement.

    Hello Everyone -
    I have requirment to add a dummy row in the result set of a SELECT statement.
    For e.g. lets say there is a table Payment having following colums:
    Payment_id number
    status varchar2(10)
    amount number
    payment_date date
    so here is the data :-
    Payment_id Status Amount payment_date
    1 Applied 100 12/07/2008
    2 Reversed 200 01/ 06/2009
    3 Applied 300 01/ 07/2009
    Here is my SQL
    Select * form payment where payment_date >= 01/01/2009
    Output will be
    2 Reversed 200 01/ 06/2009
    3 Applied 300 01/ 07/2009
    My desired output is below
    2 Reversed 200 01/ 06/2009
    3 Applied 300 01/ 07/2009
    2 Reversed -200 01/ 06/2009 ------(Dummy Row)
    Thrid row here is the dummy row which I want to add when status is "Reversed"
    I would be very thankful for any kind of help in this regard ...
    Thanks,

    Cartesion joining against a dummy table is a useful method of creating a dummy row:
    with my_tab as (select 1 cust_id, 1 Payment_id, 'Applied' Status, 100 Amount, to_date('12/07/2008', 'mm/dd/yyyy') payment_date from dual union all

                    select 2 cust_id, 5 Payment_id, 'Applied' Status, 500 Amount, to_date('01/07/2009', 'mm/dd/yyyy') payment_date from dual),
                    --- end of mimicking your table
          dummy as (select 'Reversed' col1, 1 rn from dual union all
                    select 'Reversed' col1, 2 rn from dual)
    select mt.cust_id,
           mt.payment_id,
           mt.status,

    from   my_tab mt,
           dummy
    where  mt.status = dummy.col1 (+)

    NB. You may have to mess around with the ordering if that's not come back in the order you wanted. You didn't mention what the rules were for any expected ordering though, so I've made up my own *{;-)
    Also, I added an identifier (cust_id) to differentiate between different sets of payments, since that's usually the case. Remove that if it's not applicable for your case.

  • How to get the result set in batches

    I have a query which results into large data. This data i want to display in a group of 20. After every 20 records i want to add header and footer to it.
    Is it possible to get the result set data into batch of 20 ? means can i specify start and end index of query ?
    regards
    Manisha

    What I am saying is that a big query with lots of
    joins will probably be slow, and as such would be a
    ripe candidate for batching the responses, if it were
    not possible to speed/optimize it. Batching is nice
    to look at for the user, but is not a solution for
    performance problems. In essence it is irrelevant
    that it adds a little performance deficit, as it
    appears to be running a lot quicker, and gives more
    feedback to the user.Then let me say it again....
    - "Join" is a term that applies to a method of doing queries in the database....
    - Query 1 which uses a join and returns 15 rows
    - Query 2 which does not use a join and returns 1500 rows.
    Given the above then Query 1 will provide better overall performance for the system than Query 2 in a properly configured database.
    If it doesn't then the database is not set up correctly.
    And again this will be irrespective of whether the query is scrollable or not.

  • How to return the result set of multiple select statements as one result set?

    Hi All,
    I have multiple select statements in my stored procedure that I want to return as one result set
    for instance
    select id from tableA
    union
    select name from table b
    but union will not work because the result sets datatypes are not identical so how to go about this ?
    Thanks

    You have to CAST or CONVERT (or implicitly convert) the columns to the same datatype.  You must find a datatype that both columns can be converted to without error.  In your example I'm guessing id is an int and name is a varchar or nvarchar.
    Since you didn't convert the datatypes, SQL will use its data precedence rules and attempt to convert name to an int.  If any row contains a row that has a value in name that cannot be converted to an int, you will get an error.  The solution is
    to force SQL to convert the int to varchar.  So you want something like
    select cast(id as varchar(12)) from tableA
    union
    select name from tableb
    If the datatypes are something other that int or varchar, you must find a compatable datatype and then convert one (or both) of the columns to that datatype.

    Liste des campagnes here i will create the xml file the problem is to display all rows
    <hr>
    <table>
    <tr>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <td>Comment</td>
    <td>
    <%
    for( int i=0;i<comments.size();i++){
    out.print("<li>" + (String) comments.get(i) + "</li>\n");
    }//for
    %>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <td>nom</td>
    <td>
    <%
    for( int i=0;i<nom.size();i++){
    out.print("<li>" + (String) nom.get(i) + "</li>\n");

    }//for
    %>
    </tr>
    </table>
    </body>
    </html>
    This is how i used to create an XML file in a JSP page only without JSP/SERVLET concept:
    <%@ page import="java.sql.*" %>
    <%@ page import="java.io.*" %>
    <%
    // Identify a carriage return character for each output line
    int iLf = 10;
    char cLf = (*char*)iLf;
    // Create a new empty binary file, which will content XML output
    File outputFile = *new* File("C:\\Users\\user\\workspace1\\demo\\WebContent\\YourFileName.xml");
    //outputFile.createNewFile();
    FileWriter outfile = *new* FileWriter(outputFile);
    // the header for XML file
    outfile.write("<?xml version='1.0' encoding='ISO-8859-1'?>"+cLf);
    try {
    // Define connection string and make a connection to database
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:derby://localhost:1527/SAMPLE","app","app");
    Statement stat = conn.createStatement();
    // Create a recordset
    ResultSet rset = stat.executeQuery("Select * From posts");
    // Expecting at least one record
    *if*( !rset.next() ) {
    *throw* *new* IllegalArgumentException("No data found for the posts table");
    outfile.write("<Table>"+cLf);
    // Parse our recordset
    // Parse our recordset
    *while*(rset.next()) {
    outfile.write("<posts>"+cLf);
    outfile.write("<postname>" + rset.getString("postname") +"</postname>"+cLf);
    outfile.write("<comments>" + rset.getString("comments") +"</comments>"+cLf);
    outfile.write("</posts>"+cLf);
    outfile.write("</Table>"+cLf);
    // Everything must be closed
    rset.close();
    stat.close();
    conn.close();
    outfile.close();
    catch( Exception er ) {
    %>

    Please state your problem that you are having more clearly so we can help.
    I looked at your code I here are a few things you might consider:
    It looks like you are putting freely typed-in comments from end-users into an xml document.
    The problem with this is that the user may enter characters in his text that have special meaning
    to xml and will have to be escaped correctly. Some of these characters are less than character, greater than character and ampersand character.
    You may also have a similiar problem displaying them on your JSP page since there may be special characters that JSP has.
    You will have to read up on how to deal with these special characters (I dont remember what the rules are). I seem to recall
    if you use CDATA in your xml, you dont have to deal with those characters (I may be wrong).
    When you finish writing your code, test it by entering all keyboard characters to make sure they are processed, stored in the database,
    and re-displayed correctly.
    Also, it looks like you are putting business logic in your JSP page (creating an xml file).
    The JSP page is for displaying data ONLY and submitting back to a servlet. Put all your business logic in the servlet. Putting business logic in JSP is considered bad coding and will cause you many hours of headache trying to debug it. Also note: java scriptlets in a JSP page are only run when the JSP page is compiled into a servlet by java. It does not run after its compiled and therefore you cant call java functions after the JSP page is displayed to the client.

  • Olap cache not storing result sets for certain queries

    Hi - another cache question
    my result set for a query is not getting set in OLAP CACHE - the query variable level is stored ok but not the result set.
    different queries store the result sets ok.
    there is nothing in the query or cube properties that should disable the caching of the result set.
    there is plenty of space available and there has not been any changes to the query or data loaded or aggregates changed.
    any ideas?
    cheers - Neil

    I would do a performance check in RSRT2.  This will usually give you some additional information related to olap cache.
    Hope that helps.
