Final Cut Pro cannot save changes to projects or Events.

Keep getting this stupid message, "The disk where your projects or Events are located may be full or unavailable, projects or Events may have moved, or permissions may have changed." It's the stupidest thing because I have 800 gb left on my drive. I haven't touched the Events after I imported all the footage last night. So frustrating because everytime I cut any footage, it'll work for a few clips, then the message will pop up, and it'll consequently wipe clean everything I just did. Any help??
Specs: MBP 17in, OS10.8, 2.53 i5, 8 gb RAM. FCPX10.0.8

Hmm, for some reason all of a sudden it started working. I unplugged my hard drive, turned it off, deleted the old project, and started fresh. All of a sudden it's going smoothly. Crossing my fingers that it was just a freak accident. Really crossing my fingers....

I was importing media, and closed out of the media before stoping the media import. This is how the file saved on the hard drive.
I need to get this file into a format that FCP can open. Is there a way to export a .FinalCutCopy file into a .mov file???
Any insights would be VERY HELPFUL!

I was able to figure it out. I renamed the file type to a .mov format and quicktime was able to open it. Then I saved that file format on the desktop, and imported in after I opened FCP. The file then imported and I was able to access the whole video clip I had! Thanks for your help!

  • In Final Cut Pro I was trying to move an Event Library from one hard drive to another as explained in the Help section.  After doing so, I received a message that my event is already open with the same identifier as the new one I just creat

In Final Cut Pro I was trying to move an Event Library from one hard drive to another as explained in the Help section.  After doing so, I received a message that my event is already open with the same identifier as the new one I just created on the new disk.  It says the second document cannot be opened and to move one of these documents out of your Final Cut Events folder.  It also says to avoid this problem, copy events from within Final Cut Pro, but that is what I did in the first place.  What should I do to avoid the double opening conflict?

What exactly are you doing and what version are you using with OS X 10.8?

  • Final cut pro x - Title changes are not saved!

    Dear Sirs,
I have a big project I am working on in Final cut pro x that contains about 300 subtitles (created with the basic title tool), and now when I make text changes to these titles, quit the program and open the project again those changes are gone....!!! This is a serious problem for me, any help concerning this would be greatly appriciated.
    Thank you,
    Oded

You might not have a compatible video card. It needs to be "OpenCL" compatible. What mac are you using, and what video card? This info is available using the "About this Mac" menu item; click "More Info" to get to the video info.

  • The document "-" could not be opened. Final Cut Pro cannot open files in the "package" format.

    Hello.
I have been trying to open a Final Cut Pro project but I keep getting this notification (title). The internet does not seem to have any solutions (maybe because of how simple it is).
I have had in on an external hard drive for a while.
    I am using FCP 10.0.9
Is there anything I can do?
    Thanks,
    Jimmy Fox

It sounds like you're trying to open an FCP library. FCP files are never backwards compatible. The library structure was first created in version 10.1, so 10.0.9 will not open it. You'd need to find out which version created the library.

  • Final Cut Pro Cannot Import Quicktime file "File Error: Unknown file."

Very strange. I have two .MOV files. One of which I can import into Final Cut Pro without a problem. The other gives me the error as described in the subject header.
They have the same Codecs (H.264, AAC), were both shot with the same camera. The only difference I can see is that the one that does import has dimensions 640x480 and the one that doesnt import has dimension 1280x720. Could that be the problem?
thanks for taking the time to help!
    Uri

Please give the complete information from the QuickTime movie inspector. Neither file should be used in FCP, but converted to a production format.

  • Where does Final Cut Pro X save files to?

I stupidly downloaded a cracked vesion of final cut a couple of years ago and this week have been working a loong time on a video, but since i installed Yosemite the cracked final cut is no longer compatable with it - so I cant open FC at all. I need to get hold of the video i was working on but I didnt export it or  anything. Is there ANY way FC stores projects that you can get hold of without opening the programme? It's the 10.0 version just incase that changes things

I understand that. As I said - 'stupidly'.

  • How do I get FInal Cut Pro to save the render files?

Final cut used to work really great, but lately it has stopped saving any render files, so ever time I try to edit something new it starts re-rendering all of my other files and slows it down to the point of crashing a lot. Is ther any way to fix this or get it to NOT render things that I am currently not editing?

Can you see the render files in your project folders? FCP X does not stop rendering by its own choice, check your preferences, as Tom suggested, and restart FCPX to see your settings taking effect.

  • Final Cut Pro X: Can't find project I was working on after closing the program

Recently, I was working on a video in Final Cut, and I had to close it to do something. When I re-opened it, the project I was working on was not there. I have tried looking for folders storing the project, and have found nothing. Any suggestions?

Are you sure you were working on a project, and not editing in one clip's own timeline? This is a pretty common mistake.

  • Cannot save changes to Project

I just opened the Project to beging the final cut and I get this message.  Last time this happened i hit QUIT and the project disappeared  TOTALLY.  I had to restart the whole project.  What should I do?   I have plenty of drive space.  Maybe the external drive with the project is corrupt?  I will put the Project files found on my main drive under "movies" to another drive first.   Should I quit, continue or...?

Oh the jpg didn't get into the window.

  • Final cut pro x refuses to open projects/events from external hard drive

I have a Lacie Rugged 1TB USB3.0 hard drive which is paritioned. Previously I was a lways able to open and edit projects from the drive but now it refuses to open it.
When I initially open Final Cut, it says 'reading .....' and it reads the projects and events as usual(from the hard drive) and then it opens the window, and for about 5 seconds all my events are open and listed, but then I just dissapears and it only reads from the internal hard drive. I have tried everything from restarting but I have not reintstalled the program.
    Help would be appreaciated, thanks

  • I have a problem with Final Cut Pro, I can't find my existing events and project anymore!

Can give somebody me how I can solve this problem?

Can we asssume that you upgraded to 10.1 and created those projects and events in an earlier version of FCP X?
Or is there more to the story?

  • HT5958 The latest update has already caused problems, Final Cut can't find my old projects and events to update. Can anyone offer any advise?

On update Final cut updated some of my projects and events bringing them into the new interface. I had older projects that I didn't want visible before the update in folders labled 'Final Cut Events (Hidden)'. The update couldn't see these and since I can't find a way of bringing them into Final cut 10.1.
Every attempt ends with a message indicating that no projects can be found.
    Any advise welcome.

Move them out of there and put them in the correct FCP project folder structure.

  • Final Cut Pro X- automatically changes video color

When I bring new media into a project, in the viewing screen it changes the color. I have turned off all color settings and the problem still consists. In the project editing strips the color is fine but when viewing it is tinted purple. Any help?
