Find and delete duplicate photos on iPad

App for finding and deleting duplicate photos on ipad

Decloner will compare the files themselves, not just by name or size.
For the latest version and faster updates, also to give the developer a extra 30%, choose the developers site version, simply hold control or option key to temporarily turn off Mountain Lion's annoying Gatekeeper to run the app.

Photos has no built-in tools to screen the library for duplicates. It relies on the warning on import, that should prevent you from importing duplicates.
Once duplicate shave been imported, delete them manually, or use third-party tools.
For example, these new apps claim to work with Photos:
    Power photos:  Fat Cat Software
Duplicate annihilator: Brattoo Propaganda Software - Products
    PhotoSweeper: http://overmacs.com/photosweeper.html

  • How to find and delete duplicate photos

I have combined photos from various sources, friends, family, etc. and have found that there are many photos that are the same. I have been trying to find a way to find and delete all the duplicates but am unable to do so.
    Anyone have any ideas please?
    Many thanks
    Roger

There is no automated may to find and delete duplicates, but importing using iPhoto will report duplicates if you attempt to import the same photo twice. I'm not sure if you have photos that are exact duplicates or photos taken on the same occasion but, in any case, it may be a matter of viewing the photos in date order and deleting duplicates as you scroll through. These will stay in the iPhoto trash until emptied.
It may be that this would help, though I haven't used it: http://www.ironicsoftware.com/deep/ (With acknowledgements to Terence Devlin).

  • How to find and delete duplicate photos in iPhoto

How do I fins and delete duplicate photos in iPhoto?

There are two apps, actually one app and one Applescript script, for finding and removing duplicate photos from iPhoto. They are:
    Duplicate Annihilator
iPhoto AppleScript to Remove Duplicates (free)
HOWEVER, only try the above if you are seeing the duplicates in the iPhoto window.  If you are seeing duplicate images via the Finder then you probably do not have duplicates.  That's because at a minimum iPhoto will have two separate image files of each photo, the original and the thumbnail file. If the photo is a portrait oriented photo from a camera with the auto-rotate feature there will be a 3rd, modified image file in iPhoto, the rotated version.
So be sure where you're seeing these duplicates.

  • Find and delete duplicates?  PSE4

Is there a way for PSE 4 to automatically find and delete duplicate photos?
    Thanks

    Robert
I've seen similar posts, but so far no one has come up with a solution through PSE4. The hiccup is how do you define a "duplicate"-same file name could be two different images in different folders or a file could have been copied and renamed so Image1 and Dad's New Car may be the same image.
If you use the Organizer, it will not import a picture that has enough similar attributes that it considers it a duplicate. I don't know the complete algorithm but I believe it includes, name, file type and size, date stamp, etc. If you try to import a file that Organizer considers in the catalog, it will show a screen listing the files, but I don't think you can copy or capture the data, short of writing it down manually.
Are most of your files still in the camera naming format? If yes, you can do a Search for all JPGs (or TIFs or GIFs or whatever your photo format) and then manually scroll the names for like-named files. This can be tedious, I admit, if you have a large number of files.
Hopefully someone will post with a better solution.

  • Organizing and deleting Duplicate Photos in iPhoto library?

Can I easily organize and delete duplicate photos in my iPhoto library?

These applications will identify and help remove duplicate photos from an iPhoto Library:
    iPhoto Library Manager - $29.95
PhotoSweeper - $9.95 - This app can search by comparing the image's bitmaps or histograms thus finding duplicates with different file names and dates.
Duplicate Annihilator - $7.95 - only app able to detect duplicate thumbnail files or faces files when an iPhoto 8 or earlier library has been imported the library.
DeCloner - $19.95 - can find duplicates in iPhoto Libraries or in folders on the HD.
DupliFinder - $7 - shows which events the photos are in.
iPhoto AppleScript to Remove Duplicates - Free
PhotoDedupo - $4.99 (App Store) -  this app has a "similar" search feature which is like PhotoSweeper's bitmap comparison.  It found all duplicates
Duplicate Cleaner for iPhoto - free - was able to recognize the duplicated HDR and normal files from an iPhone shooting in HDR
Some users have reported that PhotoSweeper did the best in finding all of the dups in their library: iphoto has duplicated many photos, how...: Apple Support Communities.
If you have an iPhone and have it set to keep the normal photo when shooting HDR photos the two image files that are created will be duplicates in a manner of speaking (same image) but there are only twp apps that detected the iPhone HDR and normal photos as being duplicates:  PhotoSweeper and Duplicate Cleaner for iPhoto.  None of the other apps detected those two files as being duplicates as they look for file name as well as other attributes and the two files from the iPhone have different file names.
iPLM, however, is the best all around iPhoto utility as it can do so much more than just find duplicates.  IMO it's a must have tool if using iPhoto.

  • Is there a way to automatically detect and delete duplicate photos in a library

I just imported a load of photos into my main iPhoto '11 Library from several older MAC's Photo Libraries. Despite repeatedly using the "Don't Import Duplicate Photos" dialogue box, I have many duplicate photos. Is there a way to automatically detect and delete Duplicate Photos?
I also have iPhoto Library Manager installed on my MAC, but cannot seem to locate on it anything that would do this.
I have over 4,000 photos, so would really appreciate some help here! Thanks in advance...

And NEVER import an iPhoto library into another iPhoto library - doing so des not work and creates massive duplication
if you still have all of the original iPhoto libraries I recommend you drag the bad one you created to the desktop (delete it later when everythin has successfully been completed) and start over usin iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ -  to merge the libraries

  • How can I identify and delete duplicate photos

is there a way to identify and delete duplicate photo's in I photo?

No one is suggesting that you download third party "crap". What was suggested is that you download a well established and supported 3rd party application. As to why there isn't a "'delete your stupid duplicate photo' option", you'll need to ask Apple that. Apple aren't here. This forum is for Users to help other Users. As to why you import stupid photos, you'll need to ask yourself.
