Find DBID when DB is not open

Greetings friends
Is it possible to find DBID of database when DB is not open given
- DB is in non-archive mode
- No backup is available
- No RMAN catalog repository

Thread on the link has a slighly different issue where user requires
I want to restore the control file from an autobackup.DBID can be find using v$database, rman respository etc.
I am wondering if oracle keeps the DBID in plain text anywhere on filesystem or registry.

No. You really can't do that. Not easily at any rate. You would have to set them both up to use POP3, but even then there is no way to guarantee that the phone won't poll the server prior to your computer doing so, pulling down the message from the server.

What exactly? What image files? Do you get any error messages/ warnings? Provide more info.

How do i close CS5 Bridge.exe when Bridge is not open?

I can't download updates because Bridge CS5 application manager says "close bridge.exe" when Bridge is not open.

You have Bridge set to "open on startup" so it is running in the background. To disable this feature it is in advanced preferences.
To solve your imediate problem, open task manager (ctrl+alt+delete) and click on processes tab. Go down the list and look for any instance of Bridge.exe and close it.

Select one and hit the Space bar to view it in QuickLook. Use the forward arrow keys to move from file to file. If the file can't be viewed in the QuickLook mode then the file is damaged and probably can't be copied or moved.
You could try a photo file recovery application like MediaRECOVER which can scan the memory card and tell you what files, if any, can be recovered before you have to purchase it.

When FF is not open, external apps spawn FF with default profile

When Firefox is open, external links open in a new tab fine. However when FF is not open, the links will spawn the browser with the default user profile. Then I have no customized bookmark bar with my links on it.

It is best to select the default profile that you want to use when you click a link in an external program as the current selected profile in the Profile Manager (marked as Default=1 in profiles.ini) and use desktop a shortcut that specifies a profile folder to open other Firefox version with a specific profile.

Finder crashes when I try to open my external USB HDD

Hello all. I have been experiencing issues with my external USB HDD (WD Passport) and my Macbook Pro (Summer 2012) for some time. It looks that the HDD shows up on the desktop when I connect it but when I try to open the My Passport icon on the desktop Finder crashes. Finder works OK generally and I can see everything (even the Passport listed) but I cannot access the Passport HDD contents.
I have tried accessing it via terminal and managed to view the Passport contents ok (ls -ltr etc)
I have tried repairing the disk but the issue remains.
I have connected Passport to a Windows 7 PC and it works OK. I have even tried repairing it on a Windows PC but it has not helped.
Ejecting, rebooting etc does not solve the issue
Every time the issue occurs I see a PM Report Crash for Finder

Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

How can i fix my itunes when it is not opening?

For some odd reason my itunes will not open. Every time I click the itunes application all it does is open it for olny 2 seconds then closes down and a little message shows saying
The application iTunes quit unexpectedly. Mac OS X and other applications are not affected.

Try removing the Genius database. In the "Finder" go to the /username/Music/iTunes/ folder and delete the "iTunes Library Genius.itdb" file. This may allow the program to launch again. This file will be recreated upon first use of the "Genius" feature.

How do i cancel my iTunes Match subscription when iTunes will not open on my computer anymore?

I recently deleted some programs on my computer, several of which I probably shoudn't have, and no iTunes will not open or function at all on my computer. I do not wish to continue using iTunes as I have switched phones, therefore I do not want to be automatically resubscribed to iTunes Match when this subscription ends. The only way I see iTunes working again on my computer requires several hours of searching through .dll files, and a complete system restore as a last resort, but I really dont want to do that just to install a program I dont want to cancel a service I no longer need, then uninstall that program. Is there any way to do this through apple support, online, etc...? It seems so easy to do, I just dont see any options anywhere.

In order to cancel iTunes Match, you would need to do within iTunes. Try just creating a new user and then see if iTunes opens up so you can cancel it. I have provided other article that will give some troubleshooting steps to resolve your issues.

Refresh graph properties (colors...) when front panel not opened

I have a problem with setting the plot properties of a multiple xy-graph.
I first pass the data (n plots, number variable) to the graph control, THEN I set the according properties like color, line style etc. by a property node beginning with "active plot" followed by the properties. So when I set them, the xy-graph is already initialized with n plots.
Afterwards, I take the graph picture and save it to a bitmap-file.
That works fine as long as the front panel is opened or the number of plots and their attributes stays constant. But if the panel is closed (which is the default of that VI) and the number of plots changes, I get only as many plots plotted correctly as there are shown in the plot legend
- regardless of if the legend is shown or not.
I don't like the idea of having a huge legend on the panel which still might be too small sometimes or having the legend scaled by it's height-property in pixels.
What I need is something like a .refresh-method that forces the graph to update even if the front panel is closed. Any idea how to do this?

The issue you are seeing is because LabVIEW doesn't update the controls/indicator of a front panel that is not open. This is done to save computer resources. The simple way around this is to use VI server to open the front panel for it to update and then close it again. You can use the VI property FP.position to move the window offscreen where it can't be seen and perform the open/close. This will get you the results you are after while still allowing the illusion of a closed front panel.

What to do when aperture will not open because of time machine which I don't use

I do not use time machine and it is turned off. I even went as far as to exclude the aperture library from the backup IF it were turned on. I am still unable to open aperture as this is the message I receive when I try to repair the library: "aperture library cannot be opened until time machine has finished." Please help!
The problem began when my power supply got interrupted and the power was cut unexpectedly while I was editing. When I restored the power and went to open aperture, it gives me this message (paste didn't work so I will type it):
"There was an error opening the database for the library 'library name'. To repair your library, quit and restart Aperture while holding down the Command and Option keys."
so, when I follow the instructions to repair, it gives me this
(can't get it to paste, so I will copy message)
aperture library cannot be opened until Time Machine has finished.
Please help! I have to get these images to my client!

Okay, I copied the library to another location and when I tried to open that library by pressing option at startup to choose the library, it told me the following:
There was an error opening the database for the library "library name". The library could not be opened because the file system of the library's volume is unsupported.
So, I'm guessing that was a fail! I then tried the suggestion from Frank Caggiano, which also did not work. I'm feeling quite defeated. Looking for that magic touch
