Finder not displaying anything

Recently the finder on my macbook air has quit displaying all programs, the only files that appear in finder are the ones in desktop, but when opened they also appear to be empty. I know that the software hasn't been deleted or anything because i can find it using spotlight. Any help?

Not sure how you did the SMC reset however here is the correct way, try that first. It's OK to do 2-3 of them.
SMC RESET
Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
PRAM RESET
Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
If that still doesn't work re-start the compute in Safe Mode, it's possible a cache may have become corrupted. A Safe Mode reset will clear some caches.
If the SMC reset and Safe Mode restart don't help then reinstall OS X using the Intall USB drive that shipped withe computer. Don't worry it won't affect your data at all.

It is not a good idea to put any kind of personal contact information in such a public forum.
First, close the maps app. Double click the home button. At the bottom, press and hold any app until a red circle appears on the top of each. Tap the red circle on the Maps app. Next, reset the phone: press and hold the power and home buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears. Ignore the red slider if it appears.

Finder not displaying all files in remote directory

Sorry, this is a repost as I have gotten no response from my original request here: Finder not displaying all files in remote directory
I've exported pictures from iPhoto on my iMac to a shared directory on my mac mini. When I access that directory from my iMac, I can see some but not all of the pictures. I know the pictures exported properly because I can see them all from the mac mini. I can open up a terminal window on my iMac and see all of the files; I can also open those files from the terminal.
I'm running OSX 10.9.4 on both computers, with the mac mini also running OSX Server. I've placed a screen grab below from my iMac of what Finder sees vs what I can see from the terminal.
Why isn't Finder displaying all of my files?

Adding a new file to the shared folder results in me being able to see the new file from my clients regardless of where it was added from, however the "hidden" files do not suddenly pop up.
I tried a few more experiments that had interesting results, but still didn't lead me to an answer.
First I tried copying the files from the remote directory to a local directory; I did this in 2 different ways and had different results. Method A) I copied files from the mounted share to a local dir: "cp /Volumes/MyShare/dir/*.JPG .". Method B) I copied the files using secure copy: "scp user@server:/path/to/dir/*.JPG .".
Method A resulted in Finder not being able to see the files in the local directory, while Method B did. This was interesting and lead me to suspect an issue with the way I am sharing the directory on the server. From Server settings I have both afp and smb checked. I tried enabling only one or the other and reconnecting; but this did not fix the problem.
Next I tried exporting the photos from iPhoto again. Exporting them locally results in files that Finder can see. Exporting them to my server results the same bad behavior
Getting desperate, I also tried renaming all of the files from "*.JPG" to "*.jpg" but this didn't help.
One last experiment, I see the same behavior from both another Mac and a PC on my local network... FTP works fine.
Any more ideas?

Compaq 615 not displaying anything

I was updating the Windows updates. then when It was displaying the message "do not turn off your computer. Windows is updating. " I mistakenly kicked the power pack cable and it removed it from the socket then the laptop turned off because I was using it with no bttry. When I switched it on its not displaying anything even the Windows f8 stage is not reached. how do I fix this problem. It's not getting in bios as well

ST06 - detailed Analisys - OS log not displaying anything

Hi Experts,
ST06 -> detailed Analisys -> OS log not displaying anything in my developement system. When I clickon the OSLog, it is giving the error message "<b>error message:Invalid Parameter
Please check your Saposcol and your CCMS Agents</b>"
I have already stopped and started the SAPOSCOL. even though it is not working still...
Please help to resolve this isssue.

Finder not displaying right disk space????/

Hi,
In Finder, the available hard drive space seems to be wrong.
My system:
MacBook
2 gig of RAM
OS 10.4.7
I have run both WhatSize and OmniDiskSweeper. These apps say I have used 11.3 gigs of space.
But according to finder I have used 27 gigs of space.
Where is did that 16 gigs go?
If anything, when I installed Tiger I did a "lean" version with less programs, printer drivers etc.
Also, my "all files" back up on my external likewise shows only around 10 gigs used as back-up files.
I am now pretty much convinced (from the two apps and my external space used for back-up) that Finder is the problem -- not invisible files, virtual files etc. I even logged on as the root to see if any invisible files were being shown. Nope -- same view.
I should add that I also looked in actyivity monitor and things did not seem to add up. It said 27 gigs used, yet did not show anything suggesting that much should have been used?
What can I do? I really do not want to "lose" 16 gigs just like that.

Adf region is not displaying anything

Hi,
I am using adf region to display the data.For this I have created one bounded task flow with page fragments.
In the page fragment I created one output tag to display something.this page fragment is dropped in task flow.
Then I made one JSP page and drag the task flow and drop it as the region.The problem is it not displaying any data.
I am using jdev 12. Can you please tell me whether I am doing anything wrong.

Did you create a jspx page or a jsf page. Depending on the fragment type it only works on a jsf page (jsf 2.0 page). 12c default is create fragments as 'Facelets' which only work in jsf Pages. If you want to use a jspy page you have to create the fragment as 'JSP xml'.

Finder not displaying all Volumes/Devices

Hello,
The internal harddisk in my iMac is made of two volumes: OS & Data.
Tonight I noticed that those 2 volumes are not displayed on Desktop. They don't appear in Finder Sidebar either. I checked Finder preferences: all checkboxes are 'active'. So all devices should be visible.
When I connect my iPod or external USB Harddisk, they are visible in Finder and on Desktop.
I repaired permission & rebooted without success. All available MacOS updates are installed. I also cleared caches with Onyx before rebooting the system.
In Terminal, I do see the volumes under /Volumes and can 'browse' each volume directories without issue.
Any idea why Volumes for the internal Disk are not being displayed ?

If you recently added comments in the GetInfo box on the partitions, that will cause the problem. The article offers several ways to change the visiblity bit. The last section deals with the Spotlight comments variant.

Onboard Graphics Card Not Displaying Anything

I got a free MS-7613 (Iona-GL8E) motherboard from my friend 's friend which was fully working, he upgraded his motherboard and no longer wanted/needed it. This is the first PC I have ever started to build, I've worked on the, before and know a reasonable amount about them, but the problem I have with this is, the onboard graphics card doesn't display anything. I tried via VGA and HDMI on a monitor and TV, both outputted nothing. The wire and monitor definitely work. The motherboards seems to work fine, it used to beep when it had no RAM, since then I bought RAM and it's been fine. I had a graphics card in but removed it as it also displayed nothing. All the USB drives work and it turns on fine, it just display nothing. Could it be because it had a graphics card in perviously and doesn't display anything because of that? Any help would be great!

Hi, "Beware of greeks bearing gifts." Obviously there are reasons why you have ended up with a hand-me-down. One might be a bad motherboard graphics processor. You need to provide more information about your hardware configuration. Additionally, contact your friend and find out what HP product was the motherboard installed in so we can look for specific information. Post back when you have more information.

Lumia 920 Not Displaying Anything

Hey everybody! I was trying to hard reset my phone when all of a sudden it got bricked. It got stuck on the spinning cog wheels for a good two hours, so I decided that I might as well try to unbrick it with this guide: Tip: How to fix a bricked Nokia Lumia 920 | Windows Phone Central Well, that didn't go all that great. It turns out now my phone won't even display anything. It's just a black screen, a plain black screen. When I plug into the computer it still makes the noise but other than that nothing will else will work. Is there anything I could try for now or is a complete goner? That was a comment made at the very bottom of the guide. I'm having that same issue. Thanks for any help that I can get.

The only solution left seems to be a visit to Nokia Care. Be informed that you have already voided Warranty by following unauthorised process mentioned in the link pasted by you ..BTW, there are quite a few suggestions on THIS Forum (to resolve your original problem) that you would have tried without voiding the Warranty.

Macbook pro does not display anything

Model is Macbook Pro 15" Mid 2009 Unibody
Mountain Lion
Modifications:
CD drive replaced with additional 500 GB Hard Drive
One of the 2 GB RAM chips replaced with a 4 GB chip
Earlier today I was browsing the internet on my MBP and suddenly the laptop froze, the screen froze, the mouse and keyboard were not responding at all, which eventually led me to have to force shut it down (by holding the power button). When I tried to turn the laptop back on it started up (as in I could hear the fan and the white light came on) but there was no display and then 4-5 seconds after it turned off and then started up again by itself and stayed on, still no display on the screen at all, its off and the keyboard doesn't seem to be responding either which I figured by trying to press the caps lock button to see if the green light comes on in which it didn't.
I have tried pressing the Ctrl+Shift+Alt+Power button and then turning the laptop on but the same problem still persists. The laptop starts up, turns off and then starts up again and then stays on with nothing displayed on the screen and no response from the keyboard. The start up chime also doesn't occur. I am unable to start the laptop in Safe mode or any other mode that requires me to hold a button when powering up as the laptop turns off after 4-5 seconds and then starts up again. I have looked online to find anyone with a similar problem but can't seem to find any posts regarding this.
The laptop has not been dropped or anything, neither had it experienced any liquid damage. It has been running smoothly before the problem that occured earlier. I am in desperate need of my Macbook Pro and there doesn't seem to be any Genius Bar appointments available in the next 7 days in any Apple store near to me (Central London).
Any help or advise will greatly appreciated.

Make that genius bar appointment and wait those seven days. That is your best option to get it diagnosed properly (for Free).

MSI 560Twin Frozr 2 not displaying anything

Hello MSI Guru's, I've been having lots of troubles trying to get my new system up and running. At this point I have no OS, Bios version, or video card driver version because it is a pile of fresh parts that can't get past POST. Currently using:
CPU: INTEL|CORE I5 2500K 3.3G 6M R
VGA: MSI|N560GTX-TI TWIN FROZR II/OC
MB: MSI|P67A-G45 (B3) P67 LGA1155 R
PSU: ROSEWILL| RG630-S12 630W RT
MEM: 4Gx2|GSKILL F3-12800CL9D-8GBSR
I can't get any display out of it, and for POST beeps all I get is a bunch of small beeps for maybe 4-5 seconds, then nothing. I have tried barebones configuration (cpu, 1 stick ram, MB) on a wooden table and still can't get anything. Also tried resetting CMOS to no avail. The kicker is when I put in a different video card (old 9600) it boots fine and goes into reading my windows install dvd, thus I'm almost certain it is a video card issue. I read several other users out there that have had this problem with the Twin Frozr 2, but I can't find one on these forums. Is this a known compatibility issue or does anyone out there know a workaround?

My suggestion would be to put the GeForce 9600 in and update the motherboard's BIOS with the >>MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<. It mentions improved VGA card compatibility in version 1.A: http://www.msi.com/product/mb/P67A-G45--B3-.html#?div=BIOS
Test the card in another computer first though, to check whether it's faulty or not.

Finder not displaying files on desktop

I have had this problem a couple of times: a file (or files) is saved to the desktop and it fails to appear. If I look in a Finder window whether it be CoverFlow or any other display, the file is there, but does not appear on the desktop although there are gaps in the file layout where one would expect these files to be.
I last found this a few minutes ago and saw also that the Finder was not listed in the Force Quit panel. A logout (not restart) was enough to bring the files back onto the desktop and to have the Finder appear in that Force Quit panel.
Any suggestions? (Has anyone else seen this?) How can I restart the Finder if it is not in that panel without resorting to a logout? My thanks.

Hold down the Option key and press the Finder icon in the Dock - you'll get a Relaunch command. But you have to press Option before you press the icon (unlike option-commands with other Dock icons).
