Finding Contacts/Cards

I recently had my eMac crash. Fortunately the Mac store I took it to was able to recover everything on the hard drive and put it on an external hard drive. I am now using my new iMac and need to locate all of my cards that were in the old eMac. Where can I find them? Do I just click and drop them in Address book? Thank you

• How do I get iMessage and phone to ID proper contact card when caller's appears on multiple cards?

I'm trying to set up the "ICE" (In Case of Emergency) Contact Card on my iPhone. (As recommended by Emergency Personnel, as it is the card they will look for on your phone in the event you are in an accident.)
After inserting my Brother's and my Son's numbers as the contact numbers, whenever i receive a Text or Phone call from either one of them, the call or text is identified as being from ICE. So all photos, ringtones etc don't show up, and i don't know initially if the call is from my brother or my son.
I'm assuming that is happening because the iPhone finds the first instance of the number while searching alpabetically through the contact list. Since ICE occurs alphabetically before the contact cards for my son and my brother, the texts and calls get id'ed as being from ICE.
Is there a way to set the individual cards for my son and for my brother as the default cards to be used when identifying incoming texts and calls?
Since the use of the ICE card is recommended by emergency personnel, perhaps Apple might come up with a solution for an ICE card for those of us with surnames occuring after "I" in the alphabet.
Any help is appreciatied.
Thanks,
Ian

• Link to User's MySite on Lync 2013 Contact Card does not work

Hello,
we're running a sharepoint 2010 environment with a configured user profile service application and a mysite host. we're also running lync 2010 clients but are planning to upgrade to lync 2013. the it guys (including me) have already installed lync 2013 client.
the lync server is also already on 2013.
with the old 2010 lync client, it was possible to click on a name from a lync contact card and this directed to the users mysite, which was great. to archieve this, we updates the wwwHomepage attribute in AD with the corresponding link for each user to the
mysite.
now with lync 2013 it is no longer possible.
i couldn't find anything about this topic ...
any help would be highly appreciated
kind regards

• URI dialing changed Outlook contact card

Hello I have provided all the versioning info etc at the bottom of this post.
The issue we are experiences is as follows. Before enabling SIP URI dialing within our Jabber Client the contact details for a User would display the following fields
BusinessPhone = person's AD "telephoneNumber" field and the
Other = persons AD "ipPhone" field
This was accomplished by way of editing the following values in the jabber-config.xml file
<Directory>
<OtherPhone>ipPhone</OtherPhone>
<BDIOtherPhone>ipPhone</BDIOtherPhone>
</Directory>
After Updating the jabber-config.xml file to the one listed below, the following display problem is now occurring in Outlook contact Cards.
The person's Telephone number is being replaced by the SIP URI (See Screenshot)
Is there a way to have SIP URI dialing turned on but continue to show the proper phone numbers in the Outlook contact card? If so how is this accomplished?
Jabber for Windows = 10.5.0
Windows Version 7
UCM = 9.1.2.12900
IMP version = 9.1.1.419000
Our Jabber XML file looks like this
</Client>
<config version="1.0">
<Options>
<StartCallWithVideo>false</StartCallWithVideo>
<AllowUserCustomTabs>true</AllowUserCustomTabs>

<EnableSIPURIDialling>true</EnableSIPURIDialling>
</Policies>
<Directory>
<OtherPhone>ipPhone</OtherPhone>
<BDIOtherPhone>ipPhone</BDIOtherPhone>
</Directory>
</config>

Thanks Christopher for the update on 2013
could you comment if there is any fix to how jabber itself displays contacts differently after enabling URI dialing. I find the users are confused by seeing a uri form and not selecting it even though it's a valid way to ring an extension. Should be nice to have both the uri and ipPhone listed.

• How do I reorder data within a Contacts card?

I want to reorder the data within individual Contacts cards, e.g., repositioning address A above address B. It ought to be as simple as highlighting a given line and pressing the keyboard's Up or Down arrows, but that doesn't work, and I can't find anything in Apple's documentation or support pages offering an alternative that does work. Nothing on the Web either, except for a third-party app being touted by a company I don't know. I'm running the latest Mavericks on an iMac.

The justify data select the column by clicking the column header (the letter at the top of the column) then open the formatter (top right):
then select the "Text" formatter and select the type of aligment you want:

• Telephone numbers (officePhone and homePhone) are missing in a contact card in a Lync Server 2013-based Lync mobile client

In my opinion, the error has not completely fixed in KB2967628. After I install the latest November 2014 cumulative
update. I see the following behavior. User A searches for user B. User B never sign in to the Link. There are three fields in the active directory for User B: officePhone, mobilePhone and homePhone (these fields contain different numbers). When searching on
the mobile client (Android/IOS) for user B – as result user A see only mobile number. If User B At least once will go to Link (sign in) when his search will work, (find officePhone). If User B will change, the privacy settings for user A is in the search will
be displayed homePhone field.
On the Desktop client,
I can find all the fields without those actions performed in the example. If I make a request
to the service UCWA manually like this (below
the text) before
actions, which I performed in example, I did not receive officePhone and homePhone – only mobilePhone field.
GET "https://lync.domainname:443/ucwa/oauth/v1/applications/XXXX/people/search?query=$usename$&limit=200" -H "Content-Type: application/json" -H "Accept: application/json" -H "Authorization: $USENAMETOKEN$"

Hi,
Based on your description, I’m sorry I’m a little confused about the following you mentioned. I understand the issue is we can only see the mobile number in the contact card on Lync mobile client and that we can search for users based on their office number,
we can see the home phone field in the contact card but there isn’t number showing. I anything I have misunderstood, please feel free to let us know.
“When searching on the mobile client (Android/IOS) for user B – as result user A see only mobile number. If User B At least once will go to Link (sign in) when his search will work, (find officePhone). If User B will

According to the KB29677628, this issue is caused by UCWA only sending the work number, and we need to install the update for web components server

• Can't add Custom Image to Contact Card

Just upgraded to Snow Leopard. Noticed that when making up a new contact card, I can't just drop an image (somebody's face) into the Custom Image box anymore. The box lights up -- highlighted in blue -- but it won't accept the image. Any ideas?

Similarly, I'm on 10.6.2. Since Snow Leopard came out, I have been unable to add/edit any "Custom Images" in my Address Book entries. Everyone in my AB is stuck with the image they had in my Leopard Address Book. Looks like there's several threads on this, but no great (i.e. Apple-fixed0 solution I've seen so far.
What does work for me now is:
1. going to the Finder,
2. select the Address Book application (make sure the app isn't running),
3. Get Info
4. Select the "Open in 32-bit mode" checkbox
5. Open the Address Book app, and begin editing images

• ABSCONFIG (enable INITIALS in Lync contact card)

Hi guys.
Is it possible to achieve showing INITIALS from ACTIVE DIRECTORY in Lync Contact Card with tool: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Lync Server 2013\ResKit\ABSConfig.exe?
If it is, how could we achieve that?
If it is, will Lync search box also be able to find person if you type their initials?
bostjanc

Hi,
I test to use ABSConfig tool in my Lync 2013 lab and I find it is impossible to complete the function of showing initials from AD in Lync Contact card with ABSConfig tool.
You may need to custom your own Lync client, you can post the question on MSDN Lync SDK forum and more developing expert will help to verify if this can be achieved using Lync SDK. Thank you for your understanding.

• Conflict resolver & my 16000 contact cards (I had 6000 only)

I went from 6000 to 16000 contact cards when enabled sync with gmail & yahoo! (yes, I used the conflict resolver every time).
I cant find any application, comment or whatever on software that really helps resolving conflicts...
You guys know a software that deals with this?
Thanks!

seems unrelated as all issues stem from syncing of accounts over networks, and at some point in their problem descriptions there is some actual prompt that notifies the user of conflicts to be resolved.. all I noticed was my iStat menu bar was filled to the brim for memory usage..
opened iSync (which I used for my previous phone over 3 years ago, and have never used on this computer) and removed the old device from the history and cleared the sync history. I've got another phone and an ipod touch to update in the next few days, if something pops up I'll document it here.

• "contacts" cards missing, count varies, spinning ball

I have 3 related issues and need your help!
On my CONTACTS, on the left side there are 3 places from which contacts comes
1. Contacts
A. All Contacts
B. All iCloud
C. All Google
There also is "on my Mac" and "Smart Groups". There are a large number of "groups" under All iCloud.
In theory, properly syncing the total count for each of these 3 should be the same. They are not.
A. All Contacts 6573
B. All iCloud 6365
C. All Google 6234
Why are the counts not the same?
They are not fully and completely syncing is my guess but why?
How do you find the discrepency?
How do you fix this problem?
2. Most of the Contact should Some of the CONTACTS
Cards
Google
iCloud
Some do not show the CARDS section at all. Some appear to still be in EITHER Google or iCloud. Some seem not to appear.
I have tried, as an example, to copy a card from iCloud to Google in CONTACTS - that only managed to give me a duplicate but still the "CARDS" section did not appear. It could simply be an issue of "appearing" of not as a hidden preference from some cards, I do not know.
3. In CONTACTS the Beach Ball often comes out at every action - sometimes for minutes. How do I fix this?
I look forward to some solid feedback and response to this. Thank you in advance.
Can you help me please.

• Lync 2013: missing tabs on contact card

I did some research on the web but I could quite find an answer, maybe I am the first one to experience this or I am just not clever enough.
We are using Lync Server 2013 and the the Lync 2013 client without an exchange server. The problem we are experiencing atm is that when we use outlook 2010 and lync client 2013, all users
have the organization tab on their contact card. All informations like phone e-mail address etc. are active directory informations. This configuration works just fine but if I change to outlook 2013 and lync client 2013, the organization tab automatically disappears
and the what's new tab shows up (this tab wasn't there before).
Actually I wouldn't mind the new tab but I'd like the organization tab back. Is it even possible without using an exchange server? I am just wondering why it is perfectly working between outlook 2012 and lync 2013 but is not when I use outlook and lync 2013.
I hope it is clear enough, if not, just ask please.
Thanks a lot

Hi,
The organization information was located directly over the IM, Call and video buttons of contact card in Lync 2013 client.

• Contact Card Exchange?

I just switched to iPhone after using the Sonyericsson K800i 007 edition. i asked some one to send me the contact card os another person and all i recieved was garbage. I was very surprised. then i explored if i could send a contact to some one out of my contact list. i couldnt find the option. Am i missing something?
i have used Sony Ericsson handsets for the last 4 years. Before that i used various versions of nokias/iMate/and Palms. frankly i am now worrie dbecause i use my handset for emails and business purposes allot sicne i dont like carrying the blackberry.
can anyone guide me how?

Second day in use and here is what i have to say:
technologically and from entertainment perspective the iPhone is probably an year ahead of the closest competitive product.
From Cellphone and PDA users perspective, iphone is probably 4 years behind the market.
I love it but i may not keep it long.
At this time it doesnt seem to be comming upto my normal Cellular phone or Business or mobile communication requirements.
its probably better for ppl who want a basic phone functionality with an iPod. For me i can get that out of any State of the art phone in the same price bracket.
I really hope apple looks at competing products features and produces a feature rich Software/firmware upgrade.
thanks for reading
