?Finding Device ID of missing Ipod Touch that is not listed in our latest software version for ITunes

Hi There,
I'm trying to locate the device ID for our missing IPod touch.  It has not been used for a while, does not have the latest updated software version, and is not showing up in ITunes under devices, along with one Ipad and 2 Shuffles?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I dont know if it is in need of a new digitizer, or the battery is dead, but I would really appreciate some help. It is an iPod touch 3rd generation.

An iPod can pn;y sync wiht one iTunes kibrary and the new computer is a new iTunes library:
    - Transfer iTunes purchases to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party probgram like one of those dicussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup

  • Can't delete song from ipod touch that is not in my library

Can't delete song from ipod touch that is not in my library

Monty's solution will work if you have left the songs in one of your playlists. Another idea if that doesn't work is to check your iTunes list for that iPod. Check at the very bottom beneath the albums, artist,s and other content to add to your iPod, and be sure that you don't have individual songs selected to be added as well. If you do, eliminate them from that bottom list, and you should be fine.

  • Content on my Ipod Touch that does not show up in my iTunes library.....???

I have a group of about 6 podcasts on my ipod touch that I am trying to delete b/c I've already listened to them and want to free up space. Problem is when I plug into iTunes my library does not list these podcasts as being on my ipod. I know they are on there because I can listen to them but for some reason they do not show up. All of my other podcasts show up, just not these. I'm running iTunes 9.0.3.15 if that makes a difference.
Seems like i've run into this problem before as well with an audiobook. Don't remember how I got rid of that.

No problem. Glad to have helped.
Not sure as to why it happened. I just know this has been happening to a few users lately. It may be with how you have your iPod touch configured to sync Podcasts. So you may want to double check these settings as well as mess around with them a bit to figure out if that is the cause. Otherwise, I'm not entirely sure on this one. Sorry I cannot be of much help here.

  • My ipod nano states that I should be using 12.1.1 version for itunes

I received a new ipod nano for my birthday and it states that it needs 12.1.1 version for itunes.  I went onto the internet and the latest version states that 11.4 is the latest one.  I could not find a 12.1.1 version.

I have this question too!! I also received a new iPod nano from my sister for MY BIRTHDAY!!! (Sept 5th!!)….and I am going mental trying to find out what the manual is saying that for as well….I may ignore the instruction and go for it with the latest version…11.4..I just upgraded to on my Mac. BUT..being a virgo..I am determined, and therefore driving mysefl a little bit crazy trying, to make things right in the universe. If you figure out what the mystery is please report back and let me and others know. I posted about it too last night..not sure where in the discussions it is exactly…I will bookmark your question and get back to you if I find anything out.~D

  • Can we find out if a missing iPod Touch has been used?

My son lost his 4th Gen iPod touch a few months ago.  It could have been stolen, but it was probably misplaced.  In the odd chance that one of his friends was dishonest, is there a way of contacting Apple to see if his serial number/unit has been used in the past few months?
    Thanks!

He ended up finding his iPod Touch, fortunately, several months later.  If we didn't locate it, it would have been nice just to find out if someone else was using it.  A simple, "yes, someone has signed onto iTunes with your device" would have been fine.  Or, "no, it has not accessed iTunes since x/x/xx".

  • How can you find or block an  ipod touch that is not turn on????

My 12 year old son lost his Ipod touch last week and we found out that someone is using it and going on his smurfs account. How can we shut it off,he is so upset about losing it and then to find out someone is using it. He did not have the find my ipod app on.PLEASE HELP US.

Change your iTunes password along with any other password that was stored in the iPod.  If any passwords are associated with credit cards, contact the CC company and get your card replaced (with a new number).  If any passwords are associated with your bank or any savings institution, contact them also and discuss approprate action with them.
The "Find my..." function is pretty much useless if the device is in the hands of a thief.  All that is necessary is for the thief to connect to any computer with iTunes and "Restore as new."
The only real protection you have is with the personal information on the device rather than the physical device itself.  Something as small as an iPod should have a strong 8-digit (or longer) password AND be configured for automatic wiipe in the event of ten consecutive incorrect password entries.

  • I have a few songs on my ipod touch that do not show on itunes on my computer.  I have connected my ipod to my computer and tried going in to my ipod through "my devices" but the songs don't show.  I'm lost!

How do I find and delete thes songs from my ipod?

Hey!  That did the trick!!   Thanks very much for that little tip!  You learn something new everyday!  Thanks again!

  • I have music on iPod touch that isn't listed in iTunes, can't seem to "manage" the content

Sheesh. I know it's supposed to be simple & intuitive, but I can't quite figure some things out.  Now, I may have reloaded iTunes since I had to rebuild my PC.  Fortunately, my library of music - mainly from CDs - was saved on a backup.
    1.  I have some music that isn't quite listed in iTunes
Creedence Clearwater Revival album Chronicle Volume 1 also shows up as Chronicle, Vol.1 on the iPod
but it shows up only as Chronicle, Vol. 1  in my Music Library.  How did it duplicate itself and how do I get rid of the duplicates?
note that these duplicates do not appear in iTunes, so clicking on Display Duplicates does not find them.
    2.  I cannot remove the rogue versions of songs either directly from the iPod or from iTunes
    3.  I cannot adjust the columns or sort order when viewing my iPod's Music in iTunes
    4.  Sync is not checked for any of the categories in iTunes
if I check the Sync box for music, it states it will wipe out my music and replace it with my library.  My whole library won't fit on my 8 GB iPod.  How do I pick and choose what goes to the iPod.  Do I really need to wipe out the contents of my iPod first?
    5.  Last question - Can I assign the album art that was ripped from my CDs to the albums/songs imported from My Music in Windows to iTunes?
So I'm a bit frustrated but very open to solutions.  My iPod touch is maxed out and I want to adjust what content - pictures, apps, music & playlists only - gets loaded on the iPod.
    Help!  Help! Thanks!!

    - From your description you did something to iTunes on the computer such that the iPod sees ythe iTunes library as a new library.  That is why you are getting the message about erasing when you try to sync.  Yu can, as you are doing, managing music with the computer since you can do that among different conputer.  See:
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers
    - If all music, apps, sysnced photos are on the computer you  need to:
--- Make a backup of the iPod by connecting the iPod to the computer and right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and selecing Backup and then restore the iPod from that backup.
    - You can transfer iTunes purchases to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - You can transfer non-iTunes purchaed music by using one of the third-party programs discussed here. Some of those may also do synced photos.

  • HT1535 How do I put music into iTunes that is on my iPod touch? I have music on my iPod touch that is not in my iTunes library.  I do NOT want to loose these songs when I sync to iTunes.

Recently I had to replace my computer with a new one. The old hard drive died and there was no way of retrieving any of my data from the dead computer. When I downloaded iTunes onto my new computer there were several songs missing in my iTunes library. I was able to retrieve most through purchased music, however there was some music that I had downloaded from other sources and that music is still on my iPod touch. How do I put music into my iTunes library that is on my iPod touch but not in the iTunes library? I do not want to loose the music on my iPod when I sync to iTunes library.

As for the content purchased from BN.com that shows up in the nook app... check with Barnes and Noble to see if it's possible for that content to show up on your computer.
