FIOS Install Question For Disabled Person

I am scheduled to have FIOS TV/Internet installed tomorrow. I have a question:
The box that will be installed that is normally attached to an exterior wall...Can that box be installed in my garage, and can the box be placed in a low position that will allow me access from my wheelchair?
Currently I have TWC cable/DSL and the exterior box is attached to a wall outside my garage close to the electric meter. I would like the FIOS box inside so I can access user servicable areas.
Thanks,
Dave in Plano, TX

If you are referring to the ONT, there are really no user serviceable areas that I know of. There is no reason to have to access it, so that is why it is often placed outside. However, you can ask the installer your question since they will be installing it. They need to be able to run a coax cable into the house from the ONT, to a splitter, and then disperse coax cables to the router and whatever STB/DVRs you have ordered.
Their are a few user serviceable areas.  But they are rarely of interest.  Essentially the monitor lights and the area where user connections to phone lines and coax are connected.
The battery area, sometimes in an enclosure with the ONT but often seperate, needs to be where it can be easily accesed so make sure that is mounted where a disabled person can access it.

  • Email question for a personal curve

    Hi all,
i will be receiving my 8330 curve from Verizon Wireless in a few days.
My question is this -- i am using this for my personal email.  no enterprise/work stuff.  Do I still have to keep my computer on at home in order to receive the emails on the blackberry?
    Thanks!

    Welcome to the forums.
No, your PC does not need to be on.  If you install Desktop Manager on your PC, do NOT select the 'Desktop Redirector' option (or the Enterprise option).  The Redirector option causes more problems than I have counted.
You should create a BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) account following these steps:  http://blackberryfaq.net/index.php/How_to_add_/_delete_email_addresses
Then you're email will get delivered to your BB anywhere you have coverage.

  • Install question for you multiple system guys

    Running a half dozen Macs, I have acquired several copies of Final Cut over the years, all full copies, legit and registered. For the purpose of this question, I'll say I have;
    1) A full copy from 2/05 (with just FCP 4.5, Soundtrack, Livetype, etc.).
    2) I have Suite from 4/05 (which includes FCP 4.5, Motion, DVD Studio Pro 3, etc. to the mix).
    3) I have a full copy of Studio from 8/05 (which includes FCP 5, Motion 2, DVD Studio Pro 4, etc.).
I like to be able to have any machines running simultaneously on my network without getting that "have to close" message. Since I've bought a new copy of FCP with every computer, this is really only an issue when my Powerbook is up and running at the same time as the others because I've always had one of the FCP programs installed on one of my towers and my Powerbook. All legit.
For a variety of reasons, I'm about to scrape my Powerbook and reinstall the OS (10.4.5). I intend then to reinstall FCP on the Powerbook. That brings me to my question.
    Which version should I install?
If I choose the Studio package (option 3 above), can I selectively install just FCP, DVDSP, Livetype and Soundtrack and, since Motion won't run on my 1G Powerbook, skip that program? I'd be up to date on all the programs and ready to go. Now, I'd rather not install Studio because that's on my personal tower and there a better chance I might want to have that one and the Powerbook running simultaneously.
I can reinstall the version that's on there now (option 1), the basic FCP 4.5 but I'll need to upgrade to 5.0 so I can move projects from my main editors to my Powerbook. But, there's no DVDSP on those disks.
Or, I can install Suite (option 2) and get DVDSP 3, FCP 4.5, Soundtrack, etc. and buy an upgrade. But again, the question comes up as to whether I can leave Motion out of the install.
One other note, I don't mind paying for an upgrade at all. I like everything registered and up to date.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and TIA for any help you might offer.
    Pete

On the Suite... Motion is on a separate disc. It is your option to install or pass.
IMHO, for consistancy in production, you need the same version on all machines. If that means install 4.5 - then upgrage - or whatever - it needs to be the same. We had one machine on a different version for about 2 weeks. Drove us crazy.
    Keep all the same version.
As for haveing one FC license on desktop and Laptop - if it's legit - then it's only a problem if you are editing on both. I often have mutliple projects open - but you'd have to be pretty talented to be editing on two machines in FC at once. Either really talented or not really productive.

  • Basic install question for Flex on CF 7.02

    Hello,
I've been trying to get Flex working on CF 7.02 and I'm
reading very different and conflicting stories.
Firstly I have CF 7 running on 2003, and then installed the
    updates for7.01 and then 7.02 .
I installed as a single server instance.
Reading here, I just need 7.02 and I should be fine
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/coldfusion/articles/fr_fds.html
This here tells something completely different, with lots of
    config files
    http://www.adobe.com/support/documentation/en/flex/1/flexforcf.html
What is most annoying is that I had it working on a local
server and it was fine. But this was installed over a year ago, and
I don't have a steps taken that made it work. That server is now
    being used for something else.
I don't know if I need the FDS or Lifecycle to be installed
as everything I read says FDS is part of CF.
I have also read that FDS express can be downloaded and run
on a Java server, and that it doesn't need cF, but this in not the
    solution to my problem..
    To summerize:-
I need to get Flex apps running on CF 7.02 in a production
    environment.
Do i need do install anymore than CF, if so how much does it
    cost?
I'm not a CF programmer, and don't know much about it, I
    usually deal with MS stuff
    Thanks very much

    Thanks again EJ, I really appreciate your ongoing help here. With some difficulty I was able to post this;
    https://communities.oracle.com/portal/server.pt/community/view_discussion_topic/216?threadid=380585&Portlet=Create%20Discussion&PrevPage=Communities-CreateDiscussion
I just want to verify this new community is set-up correctly; I have two accounts for the Oracle site, this one (linked to my gmail email) and another linked to my work email (I can log support cases with the latter).
    I'm not able to hit that community from this account (linked to my gmail email), the error I get is;
We are sorry, we could not log you in. We apologize for the inconvenience. One of the following might have happened: You don't have a valid Customer Support Identifier. Your privileges are not up to date. This should be resolved by logging in into My Oracle Support. Internal error in the login process.
The bit about the support identifier in the error message led me to try my work account - with some trouble I was able to get in and post the question above.
Is this new community only open to people with a support identifier?
EDIT>>>>: Getting that error with both accounts now. I realize you don't "support the forums", just let me know if you think the new forum has been setup correctly. Thanks again EJ.

  • OUAF Application Framework install question - for  Oracle Utilities SDK 4.0

    Hi,
I hope someone can help me, I am really confused.
I have a working install of MDM 2.1 and everything is working.
Now I need to install the OUAF SDK to start coding in JAVA but since I a mstill new to all this I dont really understand where the Application server is. I though that I installed that already. But it is not found in C:\ouaf\demo.
I have the framework installed, I do not understand why the SDK is telling me wrong folder.
Oracle Utilities Application Framework V4.1.0 Multiplatform is the one I have installed.
    Here is the install doc:
    http://www.box.net/shared/k86v1a4gtc793ho1zc20
Here is part of the install doc:
    •     OUAF Application Server in 32-bit and development (exploded) form. The installation will prompt for the folder name where this is installed. Note the first 2 digits of the versions (e.g. “4.0”) of both the SDK and application server must match.
I found the patch number to the SDK here: (but where do I find OUAF app server?)
    http://blogs.oracle.com/theshortenspot/entry/new_releases_of_oracle_utiliti
10043375 - Oracle Utilities SDK 4.0.0.4 (for OUAF V4.0.2 based products).

  • Re-install questions for Logic Pro 8

I have recently switched from a G5 to the new Mac Pro. I installed the two hard drives from my G5 into slots 2 and 3 on my Mac Pro. Each is 300GB. Slot 1 is the 320GB hard drive that came with the Mac Pro. My plan is to use the main drive (slot 1) for all other applications, do a clean install on my second 300GB drive (slot 2) and update to Mac OS 10.5, then re-install only Logic Studio on this drive. I use my third hard drive (slot 3) to record audio to. I will probably add another hard drive to slot 4 to use either for virtual instruments (Vienna Strings, Wallander), or use it as backup for my system.
I am a long time Logic user (since 1995) and have been continually updating, my last update being to Logic Studio from Logic Pro 7. I want to avoid any unforeseen issues with re-installing from an update, so I would really appreciate any advice on the best procedure to accomplish this re-install. I also am intending on keeping an alias of Logic Pro 8 on the dock of my main drive to open and use Logic from my second drive, and will store all logic song files on the second drive with the application, and continue to record audio to the third drive, as mentioned above. Any helpful wisdom or suggestions for improvement on this configuration would be great too, but I'm mainly asking for help on Logic Studio re-install.

    Happy New Mac
My plan is to use the main drive (slot 1) for all other applications, do a clean install on my second 300GB drive (slot 2) and update to Mac OS 10.5, then re-install only Logic Studio on this drive.
That's fine except that most applications (and certainly Logic) have to be installed on the boot drive, and the library or user library +on that drive+ will contain all library files such as application support, preferences etc.
I use my third hard drive (slot 3) to record audio to
That's where old and new Logic projects should live.
I will probably add another hard drive to slot 4 to use either for virtual instruments
    Good idea.
or use it as backup for my system.
I'd suggest an external drive for backups, with a basic system on it in a separate partition, solely used for emergencies. Most of the time it should be 'off' except when actually backing up.
and will store all logic song files on the second drive with the application
Shouldn't they be on your 3rd. drive? All projects, old and new, should live on that, I think.
Also, be aware that if you plan to install Logic 7 (for old projects) re-install this first, before you install Logic 8. You can't do this in the wrong order. This will be on the same boot drive and Logic 8 (and your system).

  • PSE 8 install question for Mac PowerBook G4, "Does not support PowerPC architecture CPU..."

I am getting the following message during attempted install of Photoshop Elements 8 for my Mac PowerBook G4 (OS 10.4.11):
"This product does not support PowerPC architecture CPU. Please upgrade or adjust your system to meet these requirements."
I double-checked system requirements listed online before purchasing software, and also checked requirements listed on outside of box before opening it. All looked fine,
Searching Adobe help has turned up nada, any thoughts out there?
    Thanks in advance,
    Laura

    Hi Laura,
I guess you must have missed something or misinterpreted something. Please check the requirements mentioned on the web page: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopelmac/systemreqs/
which clearly says that it needs an  Intel® processor which means an iMac machine, Mac PPC are not supported in PSE 8 anymore.

  • Rotating text messages on Screen Saver for disabled person?

I have an iMac set up in my mum's living room, she has dementia and I use the computer to speak to her using Facetime and Skype.
I would like to be able to place rotating messages on the screensaver (in large font) to remind her of things e.g. when her shopping is due, with my phone number. I assume this is not possible with OS X, but is there an application that will allow me to do this i.e. rotating messages on screen saver with control of font size?
    Thanks in advance

There's no completely simple way to do this but there's one way I can think of that doesn't require advanced geeking:
    1. Set up a cloud service such as Dropbox or Google Drive so it runs on her computer and on your computer.
    2. On her computer, set the screen saver to use PICTURES from a specific folder only, with whatever effect you like. Choose a folder that's inside the Dropbox or whatever that you set up.
    3. Now you can create pictures yourself and put them inside that folder and know that they'll display on your Mum's screen saver. You can choose whatever font and colours and whatever that you want to use for each message.
43 Just make sure that you delete messages once you don't need them anymore, and that that folder only ever has one picture in it - less confusing. You'll probably want a default picture to put in there when there are no other messages, I'm not sure what would happen if the screen saver points to an empty folder.
This isn't the only way to solve the problem but it's probably the simplest.

  • Newbie deployment/install question for JRC

I did some searching and reading the SDK doc, but it's mostly silent on the topic of how you set things up.
I have Crystal Reports 11 Developer edition (not Eclipse).  I'd like to create a simple JSP app which displays a crystal report in a browser, on my Java app/web server.  (And lets the user output/view it as PDF.)
I think I can use the JRC to use this, but, I don't know what needs to be deployed to the Java web/app server to make this happen.  Can anyone elaborate on what files/directories need to be there?  Where do I get them, from my Designer PC in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Business Objects\3.0\java\lib" or elsewhere?
    Thanks in advance.

The registry method does not work with 8.1.  I found this out the hard way.  Doing it on 8.1 will leave you reinstalling the OS if you didn't do a SRP beforehand.

First of all, uninstall it with the uninstaller.
    Then:
    Install the ENGLISH version.
Change the language in the CC app to Korean.
Install the Korean version. (DON't uninstall the English version)
Change back the langauge in the CC app to English.
When your OS is running in English, InDesign will run in English with Korean functionality added, if your OS is running in Korean it will take the Korean User Interface, so let your OS run in English.
Every installer language will add needed plugins for the work with that language. E.g. If I install Hebrew, I get RTL functionality in German version, only if I would change the OS language it would change the language of InDesign, InDesign takes always as UI language the language of the OS if available, if not (in your case you have uninstalled English before), it takes any version which is available in the order of languages specified in the OS.
If you need to run your program in a different language than the OS but you have installed it in the language of the OS it becomes more difficult. You would have to use some system tools which are able to force a program to open with a different language. Most of those tools are freeware.

  • How can I disable notification for new install update for adobe??

How can I disable notification for new install update for adobe (adobe reader, flash player, etc.)
Is there way from SCCM2012 or group policy or any easy way?????
    Please help me

If you mean the built-in functionality of Adobe Reader and Adobe Flash, it's different mechanism for both.
For the reader, check this guide for example:
    http://www.adminarsenal.com/admin-arsenal-blog/bid/84409/Adobe-Customization-Wizard-XI-Tutorial
For flash, check this guide for example:
    http://jthys.wordpress.com/2012/07/07/disable-automatic-updates-for-adobe-flash-shockwave-player-reader/
After you've studied the above guides, you need to implement those to be used with ConfigMgr application deployment so that when you deploy Reader/Flash, you get the result you want = no automatic update functionality.

  • Upgrading to  Mountain Lion Pre Install Questions

    HI:
I will be installing Mountain Lion Next week.
I have read through many of the turotrials and quired most of the following  I still have a few questions.
I have some concerns in particular regarding the contents of my mail boxes and mail.
I have backed up unto an external harddrive using time machine. When I click on the mail app I can't access it and see if the contents are there. I just get a window showing the specs.
From what I have read all my documents applications and system info are backed up.
1} Will the contents of Mail Inbox and personal Mail Boxes be either on the external drive or in Mail itself after I upgrade?
2} Will I need to up grade iWork  and other Mac programs after the upgrade?
3} Does time machines automatic backup, back up everything or do I need to do a manual back up for some thing?
4} Will I need to load new drivers for external devices such as my printer and mouse?
5} Will I need to reload third party soft ware such as Adobe Elements 9?
6} Will my bookmarks and homepage be saved in Safari?
Lot's of Questions, I have limited broad band width and will need to do most of this from a friends and internet cafes so I need to be prepared time wise and finanancialy as some things will have to be done at home and are going to push me into the next teir of my flex plan, possibly past the final teir.
Any and all advice will be appreciated.
    Pantheria

    1. You have a backup of your mailboxes in Time Machine that you can restore, but Mail won't modify your mailboxes during the upgrade. The first time you open Mail after the upgrade, it will upgrade your mailboxes to be able to work with that new version.
    2. If you upgrade from Snow Leopard, you should know that there's a newer iWork '09 version for Lion and Mountain Lion that make it compatible with iCloud, so you will have to install updates for iWork at least. Respecting to other apps, you have to consult it with the developer.
    3. Time Machine makes a backup of everything in your OS X partition, and it makes automatic, hourly backups. If you want, you can also make a clone with Carbon Copy Cloner or Disk Utility's Restore feature in another external disk. The advantage is that you can start the Mac from it.
    4. Theoretically, Snow Leopard, Lion and Mountain Lion use the same printer drivers. Respecting to the mouse, if you are using a third-party mouse, you have to consult with the developer if your mouse is compatible with OS X Mountain Lion.
    5. Third-party apps won't be deleted unless they aren't compatible. See > http://www.roaringapps.com
After downloading OS X Mountain Lion, I recommend you to make a bootable copy with Lion Diskmaker, so you won't have to download OS X Mountain Lion each time you have to reinstall OS X Mountain Lion
