Firefox 3.6.8 not compatible with new HP 4-in-1 for printing from web - any solution?

I have installed a new HP printer-copier-scanner-fax machine on a new Dell laptop (Model: Inspiron 15R, with Windows 7). This HP product (Model: CQ521A) has the capability of printing from the web. But at the time of installation I have received the warning that this device is not compatible for use with Firefox 3.6.8. Perhaps this is because Firefox 3.6.8 was developed later than this product, but does Firefox have a solution?

Is your problem with the HP Smart Web Printing program, specifically?
''Compatibility with specific programs shouldn't be an issue unless unless the installer is trying to install something into a not-compatible program - like SWP installs an addon into Firefox, and IE.''
This page indicates SWP only supports IE 6, 7, &8 - http://www.hp.com/global/us/en/consumer/digital_photography/free/software/smart-web-printing.html - but I have seen in this forum that other Firefox users have been able to use SWP with Firefox 3.6.x versions, once they got a Firefox 3.6.x compatible version of SWP.
''Edit: I just downloaded the SmartWeb Printing application from here - http://www.hp.com/global/us/en/consumer/digital_photography/free/software/smart-web-printing.html?jumpid=ex_r602_go/swp - and opened it. I don't see any files within that package that add's support for Firefox. It looks like HP doesn't support Firefox any longer. Unless they have another download page that I didn't find.''
Or, see the HP Web Printing support forum for an answer.

Current Firefox versions require a Mac with an Intel processor and OS X 10.6.
Firefox 16 is the last version that runs on Intel Mac OS X 10.5.
You would have to update to OS X 10.6 to be able to use current Firefox releases.

  • The latest update for FireFox says it is not compatible with my Kaspersky anti-virus software. What's up with that?

The latest update attempt from FireFox has stated that it is not compatible with the Kasperskys' anti-virus 2012 software. When will FireFox be compatible?

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox
If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

  • Hello, I just found out that my newest version of Firefox 5.0 is not compatible with the LinkedIn companion toolbar. Any ideas? Thanks in advance and best regards

Firefox 5.0 for Mac 10.6 not compatible with LinkedIn companion toolbar

You got it backwards, add-ons need to be compatible with Firefox, not the other way around. When Firefox is updated, the add-on needs to be updated.
The Firefox version of that toolbar, available from here - http://www.linkedin.com/static?key=browser_toolbar_download - and here - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/linkedin-companion-for-firefox/- hasn't been updated for Firefox 5.0 yet.
You can force "compatibility" with this extension, but if that extension isn't coded correctly for Firefox 5.0, it ain't gonna fix it. <br />
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/ <br />
You'll have to see how well that add-on works in Firefox 5.0.
Of course, you can ask LinkedIn when they plan to update their add-on.

After many, many hours of troubleshooting on my own, asking questions and time on the chat, Adobe finally told me that Elements 12 is not compatible with my screen. No apology, no offer of refund, no indication when a fix might be available.

  • I got a request to upgrade to firefox 4; it is not compatible with my kaspersky and one other program. I want firefox 4.0 removed and the 3.16.7 version back on - how?

    Started browser as usual.
Browser informed me that the 3.16.7 version was not secure; I should upgrade to 4.0
First problem was the kaspersky was not compatible.
Second problem was hp photo not compatible.
Third is the browser user interface is too different from expected.
Where can I get firefox 3.16.7 so I can continue the way I am used too?

  • Installation CD not compatible with new Macbook Pro

I have a new 13" Macbook Pro. I bought the Airport about a year ago and just purchased a new laptop. I try to install from the CD but it says it can't because the OS isn't supported. Online, apple says it is. What's wrong? Is there a way to download an install? I don't have snow leopard, it's the version right before it.
    Thanks

    Welcome to the discussions!
You can download AirPort Utility 5.5.1, but it requires an operating system running 10.5.7 or later on Leopard, the previous operating system to Snow Leopard.
If you are not sure what operating system the MacBook Pro is running, click the Apple icon at the upper left of the screen and choose About This Mac.
If you need to update your operating system, click the Apple icon again and select Software Update. This should update your system to a version that will be compatible with AirPort Utility.

  • Deskjet 3050 not compatible with new OSx Lion

Yesterday i purchased a new MacBook Pro from the apple store and it came with a free HP Deskjet 3050 all-in-one j610 series printer. Upon putting in the disk to install and setup the printer it said it wasnt compatible with the new OSx 10.7, Only 10.5 and 10.6 are supported? Long story short my router (that VerizonFios provided) doesn't support WPS so i need to use the USB option to connect my new printer to my network but my MacBook OS isnt supported. Please help. Thats kind of a shame that i get a free printer and cant set it up.

Its just sad that they would even provide a promotion product that isnt compatible with their own. Im going to try and set it up wireless-ly with my pc and if that fails im going back to the store. Thats such a shame that they would do that.

Did you close all the browsers (and applications which use
Flash Player) when you install Flex Builder 3 Beta 3 or Flash
Player? You can try manually installing it from <FB install

  • Itunes library not compatible with new version of iTunes??

    hey guys and gals,
when i open itunes, it opens a message saying:
"the file 'itunes library' cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes"
can anyone help me because I have a **** of alot of music with every information and album art for each song.
    thanks in advance,
    Dean

I have run into the same problem. Like others here I could get to my library and playlists via the finder. Next I tried re-creating my iTunes library and playlists as described by Article HT1451. This process is easy enough but takes some time if you have a large library. Once I finished the re-creation process my iTunes opened without any problem from the iTunes icon. However if I opened iTunes via the finder, then opening iTunes from the icon went back to the old error message!! Fixing it required another re-creation process. Like others my music and video files are on a separate hard drive. Looks like a bug Apple needs to fix. In the meantime stick with either the icon or the finder but not both. Hope this helps.
