Firefox 6 disabled my virus protection. I need to reinstall Firefox 5

When firefox wanted to install an update, it disabled my Kaspersky virus protection. I don't need this!! I want to reinstall the previous version of firefox.

Same thing happened to me. Talked to Kaspersky. Internet Security 2012 is available and is fully compatible with FF6. My beef is that FF did not tell me about all the disabled add-ons until after completing installation.

  • It seems like each time I get a Firefox update (the latest being 5.0), it disables the virus protection software. I'm currently using McAfee SiteAdvisor and Rapport, which program would you suggest using with Firefox for virus protection?

I'm using a Mac OSX platform for my computer system. Is there any reason why McAfee SiteAdvisor and Rapport virus protection software programs are not compatible with Firefox updates? What virus protection software is Mozilla suggesting to use with Firefox?

Download the latest version of Trusteer Rapport from here: <br />

The McAfee Site Advisor is blocklisted in Firefox 5 due it being the #2 cause of crashes. McAfee is developing a new add-on, which is due to be ready in late July. See the McAfee forum for more information. <br />

  • I purchased AVG virus protection; it is blocked by Firefox; now what?

I purchased AVG virus protection 2-3 months ago. Today,I get a message from Firefox indicating it has been blocked because it is incompatible. Now What? Is Firefox offering adequate protection? Or are you suggesting an alternate protection at no cost to me considering I have already paid.

See AVG for an updated version of their extensions.

  • I cannot reinstall PSE 10. I have disabled all virus protection. It will not install "Shared Technog

I cannot re-install PSE 10. I have disabled all virus prorection. It will not install "Shared Technologies"

If running (check Task Manager) end the ElementsAutoAnalyzer and DynamicLinkManager processes. Then run the installer by right-clicking it and selecting Run as Administrator. That has always worked for me in past versions of PSE, although others report it didn't for them. Certainly worth a try.

  • I need to reinstall firefox, will the bookmark toolbar items be restored when I import saved bookmarks

I just want to know if when I reinstall Firefox and import saved bookmarks that my toolbar bookmarks are restored as well.

    Hi,
Please see [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-use-bookmarks?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=Bookmarks this.] You can look at the star in the location (address) bar. If it's colored, it usually means the page has been successfully bookmarked.
For importing from Internet Explorer please see [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Importing%20favorites%20and%20other%20data%20from%20Internet%20Explorer this.] You can also try the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Importing%20Bookmarks%20from%20an%20HTML%20File HTML] method.

  • Firefox won't open pdf files; uninstalled and reinstalled Firefoxes, updated all extensions, etc. still getting error messages.

When I attempt to load a .pdf file, a window pops up reading "There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. If it is running, please exit and try again. (4:4)"
I have tried rebooting the computer, uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, making sure all plug-ins are updated (they are), disabling every other plug in to see if it was interfering (they weren't -- still got same message), and reinstalling adobe reader (and flash, just for good measure).

  • When I click on Firefox I get a message saying Firefox is already running, that I need to close Firefox or restart my computer and it still will not start, Why?

Firefox was working great until at least 3 persons were on my computer over the weekend. Now, when I want to open Firefox to go to the internet I get a message telling me that it is already running, that I need to close it down and if that doesn't work I should restart my computer. I have done all this, turned the computer off and back on many times, but I still get the same message. I do not know what the other people may have done when they were using my computer.

I recently did a tune up on my Windows and now I can't get my old settings, like my IGoogle Homepage or log in to Frontier's my yahoo powered by Google to access my Email, are they being blocked (firewall) do I need to be reinstalled to Firefox?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • I have Mac OS 10.3.9 and Firefox 2.0.0.1 and need to upgrade Firefox. How?

Can I update Firefox given my iBook G4 using OSX 10.3.9, which will not support Firefox 3.6? How do I do that? (The "check for updates" link under "Help" is grayed out.)
    Thanx.
    Mitchel

You '''''can''''' install the last of the Firefox 2.0 versions - 2.0.0.20, which is almost 2 years newer ''(21 months)'' than what you now have installed.
    Get it here: <br />
    https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0.0.20/mac/en-US/

  • I didn't realize Firefox 4 was only for Mac OS X 10.5 and higher. I have OS X 10.4 and need to reinstall Firefox 3.6 if possible.

Having no Firefox is bad! Can you link me to download 3.6? Please

You can get Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
