Firefox 8 is no good!
I have been using 3.6.xx for quite a long time. every time I tried to upgrade, I had problems - the new version was never good enough. THIS IS TILL GOING ON! I just tried 8.0, and now I am going back! I have 3 windows open with about 100 tabs, and some add-ons, 3.6.24 has no problem, but 8.0 keeps hanging! forget all the noise about super fast etc. - it simply is not as good as 3.6.24! Of course the method used to "speed it up" which I didn't like when I first saw it doesn't endear it to me either - I'd rather wait a little longer for all the tabs to load, than load them 1 at a time when I go to them, since sometimes when I go to one of them there may be something else going on, or the web site is busy, and it will take precious time to load!
Bottom line - I saw here a note about how 3.6.24 will be kept and updated "for a while" - I strongly urge you to keep it going "for a long while" - until you can get the main new version solid enough!
Yours is the first complaint about Firefox on 10.8 I've seen, so I'm inclined to think it's a issue with your machine, or a bad download/update or something.
Run through this list of fixes and see what works.

I am using browse button, to upload a file. When I click on upload button with out selecting the file. The view of the button is weird, as shown in the attachment.
Expected: I don't what the red lining around the browse button, when I click on the upload button without selecting the file through browse button.I just want a pop up saying "please select a file".
Note": My browse button is same as "Choose File" button on this forum.
Is there anyway to solve this through my html code or through CSS ?

When searching in goole, If I click on a link and want to go back a page firefox does not load the previous google search without refreshing the page. Because I use google frequently this is very annoying. Firefox has also been freezing and crashing most frequently of any of the other browsers that I have been driven to use. I'm not sure why I should keep it on my computer at this point.
Regarding the Google results page blanking out when you go back, this occurs when using a combination of three settings, which may be fairly common:
* Zoom level higher than two steps (120%; the newest versions of Windows apparently default to 125%, which Firefox detects and adopts)
* Google search set to instant prediction results (default on Google search, but can be disabled in Search settings, see [https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/186610 Google Instant Search Help])
* Opening results in the same tab, then using the Back button to return to the results page (default on Google search, but can be changed in Search settings to open results in a new window/tab, see [https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/425 Google Search Help])
Firefox's cache feature attempts to maximize speed for forward and back actions by storing the last rendering of the page. Something about the instant prediction results ''with zoom'' is causing Firefox to briefly display the results and then they blank out and you have to reload the page to get them back. The mystery is why this only occurs (so far as I have heard) on Google? Is one of Google's scripts blanking out the page? Does Google care that it's messing up Firefox users?
For now, if you do not want to or cannot change any one of the three factors needed to experience this problem, you can disable the storage of the last rendering of the page. Then Firefox will skip the shortcut and lay it out fresh, which is known to work. As noted in earlier posts, you make this change using the about:config preferences editor.
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''sess''' and pause while the list is filtered.
(3) Double-click the '''browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewers''' preference and change it to 0 (that's a zero).

Firefox randomly reports good extensions as outdated or incompatible
I have nero backup set for incremental backup at 1330 hrs weekly/sturday. After the backup Firefox report "Download Sort" and forecastbar as incompatible, where they were originally reported as compatible. Had to install roboform twice as site for downloading update was not up to date itself. This may have been part of issue as FF is sensitive to how may remove/installs it does in a session.

As a note, Firefox doesn't carry compatibility information for all extensions in the Firefox user data files, it gets that information from the Addons Mozilla Org server as it needs it, or when you "Check for Updates" for extensions.
That said, Roboform isn't hosted at AMO any longer so it wouldn't / shouldn't be effected in the same manner that AMO hosted extensions are.
I don't know the answer, except to not have Nero Backup for the backups when Firefox is running. l recommend that you contact Nero Support to see if they have an answer for you. IMO, I think that Nero may have some fixing to do with their Backup application to be compatible with Firefox 3.6 versions.
Norton was causing a similar problem with extensions compatibility back in Feb & Mar, but they were causing that problem every time their users were opening Firefox for the first time after a PC startup or a restart routine. Those clowns at Norton were deleting a key extension file, where the compatibility information in Firefox user data files is stored, when Windows was started. -

How do I stop Firefox from automatically placing the cursor in a text box? On certain pages such as Google.com the cursor will be moved to the search text box automatically after a couple seconds from the page loading. So I'll be typing in the address bar or something and then half of what I am typing in the address bar becomes cut off and starts being entered in the Google.com text box for search. The same happens on Facebook.com and the cursor is automatically moved to the Status Update text box. I assume this is a built in "feature" of the web page, but it's damn annoying. Especially when I start typing in my status update box on Facebook before the page completely loads and then halfway through typing (once the page is done loading) my cursor is moved to the starting position of the text area and my text is cut off.
Just the be clear the actual mouse pointer isn't being moved, just the prompt for entering text.
How can this be stopped?

JimI have tried all of the suggestions, also removed every reference to Firefox in the registry, no joy, still comes up with the error, does load if run as administrator, this is not satisfactory though, its ok if I am starting Firefox but no good if it tries to start automatically such as clicking a link in an email.
Therefore until this problem is sorted my default will stay as Chrome!!!!!!! -

my problem is with importing saved .json backup file in fresh installed firefox 3.6.8? Message "unable to process the backup file", when i choosed option "Restore" from menu "organize your bookmarks" !?
Normally that i followed all instructions from your support site, and that i tried many things, but nothing helped :( !?
my .json file isn't corrupted cause it was saved on another partition before formatting my OS.
Please don't tell me that my bookmarks are lost :( cause i had many important things in that bookmarks, on 100.s pages :( ....

Can you restore that JSON backup in a new profile?
Did you make sure that it is really a JSON backup and that there is no missing or hidden other file extension?
A JSON backup starts with: {"title":"","id":1,"dateAdded"
A HTML backup starts with: <!DOCTYPE NETSCAPE-Bookmark-file-1>
You can try if you can restore that JSON backup in a new profile.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems
See Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

I know the Firefox developers had good reasons for introducing this feature, but they failed to consider their users who are web developers.
I've installed a web server on my computer to help with web design, and I access the homepage through http://localhost
However this won't work in offline mode, and (with my dial-up connection and all) it's not practical to always dial in to my ISP just to have Firefox start in online mode, plus I don't need to be *actually/literally* online to access my local web server. And the extra clicks to File -> Work Offline are a pain.
The best option IMHO would be to provide a pain-free way to disable this setting for advanced users. Emphasis on *pain-free*.
My 2 cents, for myself and (hopefully) on behalf of the poor, forgotten web designers out there. -
It downloaded and asked if I wanted to replace my current version, which I did. Then when I tried to open Firefox, it said I couldn't use this version. I guess my old version was overwritten. Firefox update on Nov 6th at 6:32pm to 33.0.3 (20141105223254) and since I've been getting a Micro Soft Windows system message saying "SystemK Module has stopped working". It appears to be generated from Firefox. I am running a HP Pavilion DV6748US with Windows Vista that is current on pushes from Micro Soft. I also run a current and updated version of Norton antivirus. Please provide direction to fix this error and if it is not affiliated with Firefox please indicate so. Thank you.
Hi dtenholder, I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with the new update. I believe a while back I had a similar problem. At the time I didn't know what to do.
So just to make sure we are on the same page, when you click on Firefox you computer then has a popup box saying "SystemK Module has stopped working". If so I know how to fix this.
What you are going to need to do is remove Firefox from your computer. First you are going to want to uninstall Firefox. Next you are going to want to delete the Firefox installation folder (located in one of these folders by default):
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
After that download and instal a new copy of Firefox. Some good news is that a clean install will not delete your bookmarks, saved passwords, add-ons or other personal information. If you need any new information you can [http://mzl.la/1qP0CYM click here] .
