Firefox automatically updated itself yesterday, and has not been able to find any server on the internet since. what do I do?

well, a reset didn't help. I uninstalled and tried to reinstall, and the reinstall would not complete.
this afternoon, when I was able to resume, the 800 support number I found on the internet was not able to connect remotely to my computer.
a reinstall, directly from firefox, did complete this time, but still says "server not found" whenever I tryo to acces the internet in any way

Try to run the Firefox program once as Administrator (right-click: Run as Administrator).
A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • I have not been able to find any information re: the Flashback virus and Apple remedies on the Apple website.  Am I missing something?

I have not been able to find any information re: the Flashback virus on the Apple website.  Has Apple put out anything on this?

    The ‘Flashback Trojan’:
A version of an existing Trojan Horse posing as a legitimate Flash Player installer (named “Flashback.A” by a security firm) is designed to disable updates to the default Mac OS X anti-malware protection system, potentially leaving the system open to the manual installation of other malware without any system warnings. The most recent versions bypass any user action and automatically installs itself after an affected website is visited.
    http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/11/10/19/fake_adobe_flash_malware_seeks_to_ disable_mac_os_x_anti_malware_protection.html
(Adobe is aware of malware posing as its Flash Player and warns users to ignore any updates that didn't originate on its own servers. "Do not download Flash Player from a site other than adobe.com," said David Lenoe, Adobe's product security program manager, in an entry on Adobe Product Security Incident Response Team's PSIRT blog. "This goes for any piece of software (Reader, Windows Media Player, QuickTime, etc). If you get a notice to update, it's not a bad idea to go directly to the site of the software vendor and download the update directly from the source. If the download is from an unfamiliar URL or an IP address, you should be suspicious.")
Flashback Trojan - Prevention of infection:
In order to prevent a potential infection with “Flashback” Trojans, Mac users should always obtain their copy of Adobe Flash Player directly from Adobe’s official website and to disable the "Open 'safe' files after downloading" option in Safari Preferences/General to avoid automatically running files downloaded from the Internet. Also, do not turn on Java in Safari Preferences/Security. Few websites use Java. Javascript is something entirely different and should be left active.
The Flashback Trojan does not affect PPC (non-Intel) Macs, nor has it been noted to affect users running Tiger OS 10.4.11 or Leopard OS 10.5.8.
Last, but by no means least, using Open DNS is the simplest way of preventing infection in the first place. Open DNS also protects against phishing attacks, re-directs, speeds up your internet connection, and works for all users of OS X from Tiger upwards:
    http://blog.opendns.com/2012/04/09/worried-about-mac-malware-just-set-up-opendns /
    How to get it:

Flashback Trojan - Detection and Removal
Users with Intel Macs running Snow Leopard OS 10.6 or Lion OS 10.7 should ensure that they have downloaded all the recent Java updates from Apple, which are designed to prevent infection and also remove any infection already present.
New Macs running Lion do not have either Flash Player nor Java installed. If you running Lion and have not already downloaded and installed Java, you should download the ‘Flashback malware removal tool’ from Apple:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5246  (356KB) which includes the same code as the Java update that plugged a security hole which allowed the malware to automatically install itself without admin authorization.
You can also use this to check whether you have been infected (for Intel Macs only) and remove it if required:

  • I have Firefox 3.6.13 Since the most recent update from Firefox I lost all my book marks and have not been able to place any pages in the book marks. I also do not seem to keep any History. Help!

I also notice when using a search from the tab on the far right say where Google is that I does not begin a search. When I use a secure email program the normal new window or tab that would open to type the message opens but remains blank. and will not load.
The server we are connected to crashed soon after I down loaded the new update for Mozilla Firefox. It has been replaced with a new one but I still have the above problems. I prefer to use only Firefox and would apreciate being to utilize the program as I did before. I am not happy with the problem with the new update. Or at least that is how it seems to me.

  • Autoscale has not been able to read any monitoring data for ...

We´re receiveing an Error Message from the Autoscale functionality for a complete week now. This has happened before when the "Storage incident" happened. But the problem was resoloved when the functionality of the Storage was fixed. But since
the 22th of December it seems that the autoscaling dosn´t work any more. All of the Autoscaled Machines are up while we´re having almost no traffic during the holidays.
Is there someone who has a solution? Or is this one of these "drop all machines and recreate them" issues?
    The error message is:
Autoscale has not been able to read any monitoring data for XXX:XXX since 12/22/2014 11:39:01 AM UTC
Autoscale task failed for XXX:XXX due to no metrics available

From 10:10 to 11:40 UTC on 22 December, 2014 a limited subset of customers using Storage in East US may have experienced intermittent latency or time out errors when attempting to reach storage resources. This incident has now been mitigated.
    Since
Autoscale requires monitoring data to be collected from your VM/role instances in order to scale . While
there have network issue on the  storage

  • I have beeb trying to download and install firefox for my new MAC and have not been able to. It seems to download and won't install when I drag it to the application file. Nothing appears in the file. Is there something else I need to do?

I have downloaded firefox for my MAC OS X Lion, just purchased in December, and have done so several times but when I try to install it per the directions, nothing happens. The file that shows up says Alias in my applications and your instructions to Eject Firefox from the menu are not clear to me. Firefox does show up in the "Window" box but that's the only place it says firefox. Whenever I click on the folder, it seems to be emily. This installation process just doesn't seem to be working or either I'm not understanding it.

You can try using this tool to first remove all traces of Reader from your computer:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, you can download the full offline Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

  • Listing values which a parameter has not been able to find

    Hi again everyone,
I listed a topic about this a short while ago, and thanks to those who answered it. I don't think I explained the problem very well, so here it is again, this time as an example in simplified terms.....
In a table I have a column called 'Code'. There are 6 records in the table under 'Code': 11, 22, 33, 44, 55, and 66
I create a parameter and allow multiple values. This parameter then forms a part of the selection criteria.
A user enters the following values into the parameter: 11, 22, 33, 77, 88 and refreshes the report.
    The report displays the records 11, 22 & 33.
Now....I need a formula field (I think) to say " No records were found for 77, 88"
    Any ideas
    Regards
    Roger

    Hi Roger,
There is a really great sample report avialable on the SAP downloads... thingie... called "Create Fake Records", and I suspect that this will be the easiest way to accomplish what you're looking for.
It's in a zip file called cr9_subrep_smpl.zip, and fair warning... it's complecated.
Another option would be to create a manual running total that counts the number of records for each code value. If the value of that running total is zero, then you could display a string. This might actually be easier.
I'm sure if you search the forum for 'manual running total' there are multitudenous code samples.

  • HT5622 I just got a replacement phone and am sending my broken phone back.  I have not been able to access my information in the Icloud.  What do I need to do?

Please tell me what I need to do to access my information in the cloud.

What do you mean by this? Did you restore the phone from an iCloud backup? Did you configure your iCloud account on the replacement phone? Was the original backed up or synced to iCloud to begin with?

How can I move someone's hair from one photo to another and place it on another person? I have gone through every instructional video you have and have not been able to master this

Open picture B, the one you wish to select the hair from to add to the picture.
Use one of the selection tools, e.g. selection brush, lasso tool, to select the hair. You will see an outline ("marching ants") once the selection is complete
Go to Edit menu>copy to copy the hair to the clipboard
Open picture A, then go to Edit>paste
Use the move tool to position the hair from picture B.
In the layers palette you should see picture A as the background layer, and the hair (B) on a separate layer.

  • June 10 2012 Firefox automatically updated itself (no choice) on my Intel Mac/Tiger 10.4.11. Can no longer use Firefox, so how do I get back the old one?

June 10 2012 Firefox automatically updated itself (no choice) on my Intel Mac/Tiger 10.4.11. I can no longer use Firefox. I have an old version of Firefox on my Mac G4, but am scared to use that machine in case that Firefox also automatically updates itself. How can I transfer a copy of that older version of Firefox (from the G4) to the Intel Mac, and how do I stop both versions from then automatically updating? How do I then remove the updated version of Firefox from the Intel Mac, which I cannot use? Thank you for your help.

esqki FF update to 13 and now you can't open ? sorry about that.
    1. Download (with your safari) a copy of the latest (3.6.28) from your 10.4.11 mac
    from
    ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.6.28/mac/
    2. '''Trash''' the current Firefox application to do a clean install.
    3. Install the version that you have downloaded (3.6.28).
Do not select to remove your personal data, your profile data is stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder], so you won't lose your bookmarks or other personal data.
see also: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-mac?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=Installing+Firefox+on+Mac Installing Firefox on Mac]
after install the 3.6.28 version go to: Options > Advanced > Update tab > Firefox updates, check mark '''Never check for updates (not recommended: security risk)''', click Ok to save it, exit firefox and restart it.

You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.<br />
