Everytime I open a pdf file with firefox it crashes. Any ideas? Here is the crash log:

Firefox crashes when I open a PDF.

My firefox is constantly crashing whenever I open ANY PDF file. I have tried all of your support articles, including updating firefox, updating adobe, I even tried deleting my entire firefox profile (I lost all my bookmarks and settings) and uninstalling the entire program, and it still doesn't work. PDFs open fine in internet explorer if that helps, but I hate IE with a passion and I would rather stick with firefox... I listed the two crash IDs from today, separated by the underscore.

Why does the Adobe Acrobat plugin crash everytime I open a PDF?
I am currently running the Firefox 11.0, which is the most up-to-date version as of this writing. Every time I open a PDF file, it says that "Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed". I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, which came as part of my school's standard software package. The Mozilla website says I have the most up-to-date version of the Acrobat plugin.
P.S. I recently updated my version of Adobe Reader X to try to fix the problem, but that didn't work. I'm not entirely sure how Reader is related to Acrobat, so I don't know if that would affect my ability to read PDFs in Firefox.hi WDWPhishFan,
Have you looked at [[The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed]] and [[Opening PDF files within Firefox]]?
The first article has a lot of good troubleshooting steps that might help. The second article actual lists a couple of plugins that can be used for opening PDF files. I'd give both of them a try just in case.

Just downloaded abobe pro and it feezes everytime i open a pdf file....
I just subscribed to the monthly plan for Adobe Pro XI and it freezes every time I open a Pdf file from my hard drive. Any suggestions?
Seeing as this issue is persisting and that an efficient or meaningful resolve is apparently not in the cards, I am requesting a full refund.

I want to disable the feature that automatically saves a pdf file everytime I try to open one. I was prompted whether or not I wanted to save /repeat the task - saving/downloading - for all smilar types of files and clicked yes. I can't figur out how to turn it off

Why is firefox crashing everytime i open it.
everytime i open the browser now it crashes and I cant open in safemode either as it crashes. same with IE. I can only use Chrome.

Yesterday Firefox started crashing and I could not open Firefox. It is still doing that today.
I had to use Explorer to open this site.
What is wrong with Firefox? Why does it only crash and not open?* Such details are stored in a cookie.

USB Device: IR Receiver, 0x05ac (Apple Inc.), 0x8242, 0x5d100000As you discovered, Adobe Acrobat/Pro/Reader v.9 will crash for all managed user accounts that store their home folders on the server because it has "difficulty" reading and writing to a folder across a network, which is why it crashes shortly after it launches.
HOWEVER, there is hope. All you need to do is tell Adobe to write all of its files to the local drive rather than the home folder on the sharepoint, as follows:
While logged into your network-user account:
1. Go to the "Shared" folder on the local drive. (Local HD > Users > Shared)
2. Create a new folder named "9.0_x86" if you have an Intel or "9.0_ppc" if you have a PPC (without the quotes for either case). You will have to authenticate as an Administrator.
3. Go to the Acrobat folder within the user's Application Support and delete the folder in it.
(Home > Library > Application Support > Adobe > Acrobat > 9.0_x86 or 9.0_ppc)
4. Open/launch the Terminal application found within the Utilities folder on you Mac.
(Applications > Utilities > Terminal.app)
5. In Terminal, enter the 1st command for Intel or the 2nd for PPC:
ln -s /Users/Shared/9.0_x86 ~/Library/Application \Support/Adobe/Acrobat/9.0_x86
OR
ln -s /Users/Shared/9.0_ppc ~/Library/Application \Support/Adobe/Acrobat/9.0_ppc
Adobe Acrobat 9 should now work properly. You may get the "quit unexpectedly" error message the first time you quit the application, but should only happen the one time.
On a side note, the print spool is slow when printing very large multi-paged PDFs.
This is a fix I found in 2009 by Dennis, can't remember where though.

Firefox crashes when I open an *.wav file - does not send to VLC
upgrade to FF 4.0.1 in Ubuntu killed automatic link to VLC media player, esp for *.wav files which I use for telephone voice mail. I tried re-installing VLC and FF, then after changing settings via about:config it now crashes... quickly.. leaves no crash report. Just closes..... What are the normal settings to pull up VLC? Why did 4.0.1 kill what had worked in the older version? Ubuntu is 11.04. Thanks
Other types of downloads work normally?
This may sound ridiculous, but... if you change the file extension before saving, does that make any difference? In order to be able to do that, you need to have Firefox ask you where to save downloads instead of always using the same download folder. This is set on the "General" tab of the options dialog, as described here: [[Startup, home page and download settings]]. -
Safari crash after opening a PDF file
For the past week or so, everytime a link leads to a PDF file, Safari loads the file and then immediately crashes. I have checked my disk, verified and fixed any permissions, etc. but the problem persists. Although I checked the "report" button when I got the message from the OS, I have not heard back from anyone.
Has anyone else experienced such a behavior? I suspect that it is not related to Safari, but rather to Adobe Acrobat, since I always have a similar experience when Adobe tries to look for updates. The Adobe Update Manager crashes the minute it is launched. I have even tried to udate my Acrobat 7.0 for some new patches but I cannot get to them fo some reason or another, mostly because the Adobe system seems to be down for maintenance most of the time. I saw that one of the updates is marked "critical".
I have saved the "log file" after the last crash, about an hour ago (if that helps anyone).

Apple does not respond to submitted crash reports. Rather, they are used for software development purposes. Best thing to do in this forum is to copy/paste a copy of the entire report to your reply in this thread.
If you see a relationship between the Adobe crashes and Safari opening a PDF file, then go to Adobe Acrobats preference file>Internet and designate Apple's "Preview" as your PDF reader. Then, go to the Finder and move to your desktop your Adobe Reader plug-in from your Internet Plug-ins folder either the main or user library). Restart Safari and try a PDF (it ought to now open within the browser). If Safari does not crash, then yes, the problem lies with Adobe. Something you can take up in one of Adobe's own forums. -

This is a known issue with Adobe Reader, and it depends on Adobe updating their plugin.
Whilst you're waiting for Adobe to fix their plugin, you can disable it and fallback to the default PDF reader in Firefox by following these steps:
#Go to ''Tools'' > ''Options'' (or ''Firefox'' > ''Options'').
#In the Options window, select the ''Applications'' tab.
#In the ''Search'' field, type ''PDF''. You should find ''Portable Document Format (PDF)''.
#On the right handside you should find an ''Action'' column. In order to view PDF files in Firefox, choose ''Preview in Firefox''.

Why does firefox crash everytime I use it
Every time I use firefox regardless of what site Im on, it crashes every single time, I do not understand why. I have automatic updates on my computer that update once a week. I had no problems what so ever until Tuesday July 11th, after my computer updated, now I cannot use firefox for any thing. Can you please help, this is very aggravating?

ANYONE WITH NORTON SOFTWARE
Someone has already mentioned Norton in this thread. Please note there is a known issue with some Norton software sometimes implicated in Firefox 24 crashes. Norton themselves are asking for more information.
