Firefox does not remember our usernames for hotmail anymore

Since our update to Firefox 4.0, Firefox does not remember our usernames for Hotmail anymore. Only the last used username is remembered.
We don't have problems with other websites regarding this.
So why is it only with Hotmail?
I cleared all cookies, but no change....
Can you help us out?

You can't save the name and password from Hotmail via the Password Manager in current Firefox versions. Hotmail (live.com) uses JavaScript to create the login form.<br />
You should be able to use save form data to save user names and other form data like I posted above.
Don't you get a drop down list that shows previously entered names?
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.
* https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Private+Browsing
* You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
* To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Firefox > Preferences > Privacy, choose the setting <b>Firefox will: Use custom settings for history</b>
* Deselect: [ ] "Permanent Private Browsing mode"

• Anyone know why, firefox does not remember password for a site when you remove password from the view password site? I removed a pasword in the view password window and now it not asking me to remember and also it is not remembering the password when I go

Anyone know why, firefox does not remember password for a site when you remove password from the view password site? I removed a password for a site that was not remembering the correct password for the "view password" window and now it does not guess the password and does not remember the password for that site. All other sites are being remembered.
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== After I deleted the password from the view password window.

The saved password feature worked well, but the site I had saved the password for required that I change the password. I have found no way to update the password in Firefox. After I deleted the saved password, Firefox did not ask if I wanted the new password saved. When this happened before, I removed and re-installed Firefox, and then it worked. I hope there is another way to update a password.

• Firefox does not remember sign in information

When I enter sign information (username, and password) firefox does not remember either. Therefore I have to renter the information each time I go to the site

Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie.
* Create an allow cookie exception (Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions) to keep such a cookie, especially for secure websites and if cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in Private Browsing mode.
* https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Private+Browsing
* In Private Browsing mode all cookies are session cookies that expire if that session is ended, so websites won't remember you.
* Do not use Clear Recent History to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"
Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.

• Firefox does not remember my history or bookmarks or anything after i go to a new page or website

When I go to a new page (for example from Google.com to Youtube.com or with any other website), Firefox does not remember the history or bookmarks or any other information that I just used. I cannot go back to the page i was at before because it won't remember my history. I tried all the steps that it told me to do when i clicked on more info in the red bar that said "Firefox will not remember your history or bookmarks because it is in use by another application" but it sill didn't work.

Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode? <br />

• Firefox does not remember history-why?

Hi guys! My firefox does not remember any history at all. Of course the privacy settings say: " remember history". Everything else (bookmarks and such work fine. I have done a "reset firefox" twice; no change. There is an article from someone with similar problems, but vital chunks of info are missing, so I can not reproduce what exactly the problem was and how it was solved. Any suggestions anyone?? Cheers Stefan
( should add: windows 7, latest firefox version...)

History can be removed or not recorded several ways;
* 1) Running Firefox in Private Mode (nothing is recorded)
* 2) Privacy settings (Type about:preferences#privacy<Enter><BR> in the address bar.)
* 3) Many disk cleaners and anti-virus type programs can remove data from browsers. Open their settings and have them leave the browsers alone.
* 4) Mal-ware.

• After reopening Firefox does not remember which desktop was used for each window. Can you help, please.

I'm using two displays and several desktops on my Mac (OS X 10.9.4).
When I need to restart Firefox, it remembers to open windows from last session in correct display, but does not remember which desktop was used for each window. So when the application starts, it opens all windows on a desktop which is currently active instead of reopening them on desktops used during the last session. How to fix the issue?

Hi Nerva,
Thank you for your question, there is a add on I have been recommended to custom set up of opening windows in new monitors. It's called Monitor Master.
However, in regards to the session remembering which monitor the window was open in, in the profile folder there is a file that stores window positions and dimensions. It is called localstore.rdf.
Please stay tuned for more investigation, as there are definitely bugs on file for similar issues. Pinpointing it is the hard part.

• Firefox does not remembe the login name for the user login name on secure sites.

My user got a new computer and I installed the latest version of firefox. It no longer remembers user names on secure sites and the employee does not like the fact that she has to type in her user name every time she needs to log into the site. The browser is set to automatically save user names and passwords.

Please first update your plugins, Flash has a new version.
Does this happen in Safe Mode?

First troubleshooting steps are:
*Control whether Firefox automatically fills in forms
It is also possible to check the saved passwords to make sure that the information is saved. On an https site that does not autofill the information for logging in , the username is blank. I removed the entry by right cicking on the page, selecting "Page Info" and under "Security" viewing the saved passwords.

• Cleared history and now Firefox does not remember passwords

I went to "clear recent history" and chose "everything" on "time range to clear." Now my passwords do not autofill anymore. There are still saved in the "Options" tab.

* Make sure that you not run Firefox in Private Browsing mode
* You are in Private Browsing mode if you see "Tools > Stop Private Browsing", possibly grayed
* You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
* To see all History settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting <b>Firefox will: Use custom settings for history</b>
* Uncheck: [ ] "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session"

• Firefox does not remember history.

When I use Firefox it doesn't remember any pages. I checked in options to make sure it was set to remember history, and also tried reseting it. When I open show all history entire list is empty. Bookmarks list is still fine, and it still remembers closed tabs, but nothing is stored in history.

Try to delete a possible user.js file and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Bookmarks+not+saved#w_fix-the-bookmarks-file
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Creating a profile":
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem.

• How come firefox does not remember my user name and password for the verizon wireless website ? or verizon wireless ?

how come when i log onto the verizon wireless web site to pay my bill, i have to sign my user name and password every time ? i am not getting the firefox pop up asking me if i want firefox to save my password for this site. so how do i get firefox to remember my log in information for my verizon wireless website ? thank you.

This would be verizonwireless.com, correct? Their site requests that browsers should not save information for its login form.
If you're comfortable with using bookmarklets, there's one here that should force Firefox to remember:
https://www.squarefree.com/bookmarklets/forms.html#remember_password .

• I have stored the password for a site I use often, but Firefox does not remember. Have to type in each time.

User name and password are stored correctly in preferences, but the fields remain blank whenever I try to login to a site I use often. No prompt "Do you want firefox to remember..." Do get a popup "do you want to update password?" but it makes no difference whether I check yes or not.
No such problem with several other sites whose passwords are stored.

You must have the "Remember passwords" feature enabled for the browser to remember them. In Firefox 2.0 and above, make sure Tools -> Options -> Security / Passwords -> "Remember passwords for sites" is checked.
Additionally, you may have once told the browser to never save the passwords for the site. In Firefox 2.0 and above, check the list under Tools -> Options -> Security / Passwords -> Exceptions. Also make sure you are not private browsing while saving password.
Cheers

• Firefox does not remember my customized toolbar

I made a customized tool-bar awhile back (about a year or so ago) and have had no problems with it then about 1 or 2 days ago whenever I close a session of firebox and then reopen firefox my toolbar and add-on buttons are missing. It happens every time now. Frustrating,,, what can I do? I do think it might be due to upgrading to v26.

Like I said in my last post I ended up resetting firefox then added the customized tool-bar with most of my add-ons. That worked fine until I decided to add the rest of my handy little add-ons. When I started firefox the next day my toolbar was gone
Not knowing at the time what the problem was I started over again and added another new tool bar with my add-ons hoping like an idiot it will work this time. When I went to add the Dr. Web link-checker add-on I noticed a reviewer mentioned he had lost his toolbar when adding the Dr. Web link-checker add-on.
I decided to test it and added the Dr. Web link-checker add-on. After doing that I restarted firefox. Low and behold my toolbar was missing again.
So for me it was adding the Dr. Web link-checker add-on that caused my customized toolbar to go missing.

• When I open Firefox to my home page then go to a secomd page firefox does not remember my home page when I try to go back to my home page by using the back button

When I open up Firefox it goes to my home page, then I surf the web but when I go the the back button it shows my history but not my home page (or the first page I went to).

Do you get the same two tabs when you launch a new window (Command+n) or only at startup?
You may want to check your extensions in case something snuck in. You can review and disable those on the Add-ons page. Either:
* Command+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Does that shut down the extra page?

• Firefox does not recognize a redirect for my website

I have a business website and I have two domain names. I've set up a redirect but it's not working with Firefox. It works well in Internet Explorer. How do I fix this so that Firefox users will be redirected to my website?
== URL of affected sites ==
http://www.atstractorservices.com

No problems here with that site.
It is possible that an extension or security software is preventing the redirect via a location field in the response headers.

• After recently buying a new computer and installing firefox, sometimes firefox does not open webpages completely for website such as facebook, and reddit.

Hi, i recently bought a new computer and installed firefox on it, but sometimes when opening webpages such as reddit, or facebook, it only loads part of the page or very little of it.

If you use extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) like <i>Adblock Plus</i> or <i>NoScript</i> or <i>Ghostery</i> that can block content then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.
Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.
