Firefox goes to viral sites before loading my home page. I am getting scripts from these downloading onto my websites.

Firefox seems to be scanning two websites prior to loading my homepage. These appear at the bottom left hand side of the screen as Firefox is loading. They are not always the same, but they load script onto my websites somehow. Today they are yiajwe.tk and rec-creations.com (as below). Please help - these are infecting my websites - I am a web designer.

You will have this in your .htaccess file in the root directory of the website... I had it in more than one of my sites. You can see the rec_creation site at the bottom of the list.

Whether it came from the host server, or my pc I don't know. But when I deleted this from all the .htaccess files it stopped Firefox doing it, now it goes straight to the homepage.. I did have a major crash two weeks ago and that's when this started so maybe it was my pc. Good luck.

All I get is a blank home page, along with a spinning beach ball. I cannot open the preferences to try to clear the cache, and must force quit to get out of Firefox. I have tried clearing the cache from the Library, and trashed the preferences file. I uninstalled the application, and reinstalled a newly downloaded application. I have restarted the computer many times, and run the disk utility to repair permissions. Nothing has worked. I have not added or upgraded anything on my computer since Firefox was working just a few days ago. Safari works fine connecting to the web. When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
1. Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server. Any difference? If not...
2. Clear Firefox's Cache Completely

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
3. If needed, remove the site's cookies in this dialog
While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

The latest verison of firefox is so screwed up it takes 110MB of ram just to load my home page, how do I go back to eariler verison of firefox thats more efficent

Firefox has worked fine for me until the latest update, with new update it takes 110mb of ram just load my home page which is google, I have a older computer that only has 256mb so when firefox uses almost one half of my ram just load it's self I can barley even do a search of any kind much less actually load a webpage.

Sorry, if resetting your homepage in Firefox doesn't work or that change is only temporary until the next time you use your PC or restart it, you need to uninstall that Comcast Toolbar from your PC. I don't know how or where that Comcast Toolbar for Firefox is installed, so you'll need to figure that out yourself.
The first place to look is the Windows Control Panel > Add / Remove Programs, and it is there '''Remove''' it.
Second place is in the Firefox Add-ons Manager tab - '''{ Ctrl + Shft + A }''' - if you find it there, '''Uninstall''' it from Firefox.
If you are able to get rid of that Comcast Toolbar and still have problems with not being able to set your choice for a homepage, let us know. There are a couple of places that may have been messed with by that application, like a user.js file or the prefs.js file.
I'm a Comcast user, too, although I have had this cable service for over 10 years now, with the two previous owners of the franchise for this area before Comcast bought out AT&T Cable. The browser is running in Win 7.0 64-bit; Norton Internet Suite 21 provides the security functions. There are certain "cloud" solutions also running such as Google Drive, Box, Skydrive and Cubby. The browser behaves similarly in all my machines (the setup and OS is similar to the one described above) and no amount of resetting of "Options" seems to affect it . Nor is it affected by the manner Firefox is closed. It is obviously a bug that needs to be fixed.

When i start Firefox ( 5.0.1 ) it loads the home page fine but along with it, it starts playing a video i watched earlier on youtube and it is invisible ( no where in tabs ) and i can just hear the sound. After playing the video one time it stops.

Sorry you are having problems. First of all try Fifrefox's safemode.

Next step, if safe mode did not work.
First: Try a clean install, (you have had a none standard version installed previously) that involves deleting the program files. Then if necessary try troubleshooting by creating and using a clean empty Firefox profile.

Why won't Firefox load my home page?

It is nothing systemic with Mavericks. I have a Yahoo home page and it works perfectly with FireFox.
It's possible that you have some FF add-ons that were not upgraded to a newer version when Mavericks was released--that is quite common. It is the job of the add-on developers to keep up with the major OS developments, not the other way around.
Open FF and do Tools > Add-ons. See if any extensions, appearance add-ons, or plug-ins show that an update is available.
Another thing that can cause grief are the various anti-virus and "I'll Clean Your Mac" programs being foisted upon Mac users. They can play havoc with browsers. Have you installed any? I hope not!

Firefox 15 does not always load my home page when it starts up.

Started my computer. Clicked on the Firefox icon to start Firefox. My preferences include loading my home page (an html file on my computer) when Firefox starts. I have also set browser.newtab.url to the same thing.
Some of the time, a blank page shows where my home page should show.
My home page should have loaded.
If I click on "new tab", the new tab always seems to load my home page properly. It is only when I first start up Firefox that this problem may occur.
Since this is an intermittent problem, and there is a work-around (clicking on the "home" icon), this is undoubtedly a low-priority bug.

Since the time of Sea Monkey and Netscape, this problem has not arisen for me. It did not happen in Firefox 12. Only when I upgraded to Firefox 15 did this problem start happening. To me, a retired computer programmer, this feels like a regression. I'd guess at either an uninitialized vairable or a race condition.
In any case, Firefox should be able to handle being closed by clicking on the x in the titlebar. I shall continue doing so.
There has never been a hang at exit for me, so that is not something I will pursue.
In addition, since the problem did not occur ever until Firefox 15, I have done the following:
sudo yum downgrade firefox xulrunner
Both are now at firefox 12 level.
To keep things at that level, I've added to /etc/yum.conf the following:
exclude=firefox, xulrunner
I'm certain that my recent actions to downgrade will solve the problem and show that this is a regression.

Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) before reinstalling a fresh copy of Firefox.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.
You can also try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that works.

I had this problem once before, And now again.
The only thing I did different, was Instead of shutting down my computer, I click on Log off User.
Ever since then I have noticed windows XP is taking longer to load, and so is Firefox.

Try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

That is a generic error message saying there is a code error. We need a lot more information. Something along the lines of:
- operating system (incl patch level) and specifics about which Oracle XE you decided to install;
- whether your system is on a network, what kind of connection you use, etc;
- whether this is Oracle's supplied code or something you wrote or modified by hand;
- exactly what you typed to get to that point;
- whether this ever worked;
- whether you had any problem in the installation, or any logs or trace files show up.
In other words - the more details you can provide, the more we might be able to help.
(We can not see your system, watch over your shouders, or read your mind. Either you provide the details - even if you think they are irrelevant - or we assume things.)

Safari will not load a home page after dload of Svc. Pack 3 for XP!!

After an upgrade by Microsoft to Service Pack 3 for Windows XP Pro, Safari will not load a home page of any kind and I get a blank screen where I normally am able to get Yahoo's Web Page instead.
Please help!!

Probably a good idea to uninstall and then reinstall safari. I got service pack 3 and safari just disappeared, I have reinstalled it and had no problems (other than a 'SPELLING AND GRAMMAR ERROR' pop up as per my other post!
