Firefox installer not working for Windows 8.1?

I downloaded the latest Firefox installer and tried to run it. I got the Windows prompt to accept the software install, and then...... nothing. The installer never runs. Does anyone know what seems to be the issue?

Jscher you rock! That totally worked.
Thank you for saving me from being condemned to using IE!

Internet Explorer, Chrome, or Firefox are not working in Windows 8

I found this on another forum and it worked for me.
This problem usually has to do with TCP/IP or Winsock requiring a reset.
Winsock entries tells Windows 7 how to access your network services. Additionally, your TCP/IP protocol can
be corrupted. The TCP/IP protocol is a stack of 4 layers that includes several transport layers, but when this stack is corrupt you will constantly have connectivity issues.
You need Admin access to enter the codes below. Windows button + x, then choose Command Prompt (Admin)
netsh winsock reset catalog (reset winsock entries)
netsh int ip reset reset.log hit (reset TCP/IP stack)
You may have to reinstall Chrome and Firefox or reboot to have the chnage take place.
    Hi,
This seems to be the only solution to my problem, however this is temporary. Any advice on a more permanent resolution?
I have also tried  to disable  "Automatically detect settings" under: "Internet Options/Connections/LAN settings/Automatically
    detect settings".
    This has no affect.
    Thanks,

  • Activesync not working for Windows Phone with certificate

We have a new Exchange Server 2013 setup and using activesync.  We have setup a policy to require simple password and to send an email to provision a device when it connects.  Activesync is setup to use self signed certificates,  this was
tested first on the Ipad.  Certificate installed entered the settings and the device appeared in the quarantined devices list awaiting to be approved.  This was also done on the Iphone and worked.
When putting the same certificate on the windows phone device it errored with there is a problem with {as.domain-name.net} and does not appear in quarantined devices screen.
I tested again with another Ipad and an android device and they work without an issue.  Tested with a Windows RT device and got the same issue.  If I look in the IIS log files I can see the windows device making a connection then when I presume
to be the error 500 at the end of the line.
This is not a user issue as I can use the same user on the various devices.  The windows devices just do not want to connect.  We have looked at the certificate but if it works for apple and android devices why does it not work for windows?
Is there any additional security settings that need to be turned on or off for windows phones?  Is there something specific on the certificate what windows devices need that others ignore?

I did inital think it might be a widows phone issue but there are no other settings for me to use.  I have also tested using a windows 8 surface and I get the same issue.
I have raised the event log level on the exchange server to expert and I have seen 2 messages when I try to connect.
I get Event ID 1100:  Exhcnage ActiveSync device requests for your uses are being blocked.  This problme frequently occurs when HTTP OPTIONS method is not allowed.
I know it is allowed as the test exchange connectivity worked and passed that test.
The other error Event ID 1309 ASP.NET warning.  Part of the exception messge is DeviceTypeMissingOrInvalid
I have come across a comment that says for certificates to work you need to use windows intune or SCCM which we don't have.  Do we know if this is true?

  • Java 7 U25 work around does not work for windows 8

I'm working on a java application which uses the statistical software R. This line Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(C:\Program Files\R\R-2.15.1 + "/bin/" + "R CMD BATCH " + "./data/rJava.R");  in the application started throwing an error after the java 7 u25 update, but it was fixed by using the work around setting jdk.lang.Process.allowAmbigousCommands to true. This fix however does not work in windows 8, although the command does not error out with "cannot create process = 2" it just executes the line, but does nothing. But if I typed the command (R CMD BATCH " + "./data/rJava.R) directly into the commandline, it works perfectly. I've tried disabling the work around, and actually using suggested solutions in the release notes (see below), all worked in windows 7, but no success with windows 8. Any suggestions would be great
    Process p = new ProcessBuilder("c:\\Program File\\foo.exe").start();
    Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(new String[] { "c:\\Program File\\foo.exe" });
    Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("\"c:\\Program File\\foo.exe\"");

avancentcisco - Win7 works fine with SSL VPN. But since we all were migrating to Win8, this was of no use to us. So we ditched SSL VPN all together.
IPSec VPN with Cisco VPN Client (version 5.0.07) works absolutely fine on Windows 8. Once you get the set up right, everything works fine (we are using full tunnel) including internet access.
If you struggle to get it working then let me know and I can help you out. There's not much info out there on the internet. I had to do it the hard way.

    Hi sfmedic,
Have you tried to download another installer to have a check ?

Considering it can be installed in the Internet Explorer ,this issue is related to the Fire Fox. It is recommended to look for help from the Fire Fox forum.

  • Firefox 29.0.1 installer not working on windows 8.1

I have tried to automatically install the latest firefox but always keeps giving me error. I downloaded the offline installer and tried to run it. I got the Windows prompt to accept the software install, and then...... nothing. The installer never runs. Seems to extract a 100% and then disappears.
I had a similar problem last time and I disabled the windows firewall and defender, uninstalled firefox and ran the offline installer. Worked perfectly fine. Doesn't seem to work this time around.
Does anyone know what seems to be the issue?

    You're welcome.
Sorry, I can't know what the exact problem was. Many things don't start in Windows Safe Mode, like third-party security software and included security tools like Windows Defender. You can use the following guide if you want to troubleshoot the issue. The "How to determine what is causing the problem by performing a clean boot" section is the relevant part.

I am not sure what an SO is.
As for the OS that I am using. My client Development Machine is running x64 Vista Ultimate and so far nothing works on it.
I am trying to programatically connect to an Oracle Express Edition on a Linux machine that has the same hardware as my dev server above (AMD 64).
I am also trying to not vent on this forum about the poor quality of product that I have experienced so far with Oracle as nothing that I have installed so far has worked. Please see my other recent Posts.

  • Firefox update not offered for windows 7

Hello... I love your browser and have it running on all my machines! I currently use it on my FreeBSD rig, my Windows 7 and Windows 8 rigs too. I always make sure to check for updates every few days because I know how important keeping internet-facing programs up to date is. This concerns Firefox 19 for Windows 7. I was able to update Firefox for Windows 8 to version 19.0.1.4805, I was doing some work in Windows 7 but Firefox did not update (it says its up to date). I was wondering if this was a glitch or if I have been given a fake copy from a unknown source (I also noticed Firefox is still version 19 on your download website). Thank you for your prompt attention in this matter.

  • Jabber client's click to dial feature is not working for Windows 7 Proffessional OS

    Hi,
Currently running UCM 9.x and CUP 9.x. There is no AD intigration for UCM.
Problem i am facing is that  the Jabber client  is working properly for Click to dial  feature on Windows 7 enterprise OS and it is not on Windows 7
    Professional OS.
The Jabber client which is logged on to Windows 7 enterprise OS, works
fine but if same user can logged on to the Windows 7 Professional OS will
    not work click to dial.
Please help us to resolve it.
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi John,
Thanks for your reply but I can't see the option to reach the "deployment" perspective. Its not available for me.
Btw, I'm using SAP NetWeaver 7.1 Composition Environment SP12 PAT0000 Build id: 201105061501.
Also, I have checked a few SDN posts about using the "undeploy" tool after connecting using telnet, but I can't use that method too as telnet ports are blocked by firewall. We use different method to connect to the OS, if required.
    Any other suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Deoraj.

    Hi there @DuskHunter
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you updated to windows 8.1 , and now some devices are not working correctly. You did not specify the exact product you have , but I did find the support page for the closely related 14-n033tx, so you can give the drivers there a try.

My ProductionPremium CS5.5 serial number for my Mac is not working when I download and install ProductionPremium CS5.5 on my windows machine. Do I need to deinstall on my mac or get another serial number issued?

This is expected. Serial numbers are platform specific and platform swaps only apply to current versions. You need to upgrade to CS6 and make the switch.

  • Elements 5.0 not working for Windows 8. What to do?

Of course, Elements 5.0 is ancient, but I was still happy with it. Can I upgrade to a more recent version, for working in windows 8.1?

Which version of windows 8 do you have?
If you press the Windows Logo key plus the Pause/Break key, what does it say on the screen that is displayed?
Or right click on the lower left corner of the screen and click on System.

  • Windows Installer Not Working for Itunes 64

I just got a touch and it says I have to use Itunes 64 bit. So I go download 8.02 64 from the apple site but when I try to install it a popup comes up and say windows installer could not be accessed. So I can't install it. I have vista 64bit home prem and was wondering if anyone has a solution yet? I have tried a lot of google solutions but none seem to work. Thanks

    Hi Darrien,
What is the name of the iTunes installer file?
You may have to download iTunes again using Internet Explorer.
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
+"Note: The installer for 64-bit Vista is named iTunes64Setup.exe instead of iTunesSetup.exe. If you download the iTunes installer from iTunes.com using Vista 64 and the file is iTunesSetup.exe, your browser is likely not correctly identifying the OS as being Vista 64. Try downloading iTunes again using a different browser, like Internet Explorer."+ from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1426
