Firefox is not saving history even with remember history preference turned on. I have tried reinstalling Firefox but this has not solved the issue. Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

* Make sure that you do not use Clear Recent History to clear the Browsing History.
* Make sure that the History is set to at least 1 day: Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > History: "Remember visited pages for at least"
* Make sure that you do not run Firefox in Private Browsing mode (Tools > Stop Private Browsing is grayed, see Private Browsing)
* To see History and Cookie settings in Firefox > Preferences > Privacy, choose the setting "Firefox will: Use custom settings for history"
You can look at these prefs on the about:config page to make sure that you keep history.

Clear the cache and the cookies from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

• Mozilla Firefox is not saving any of my usernames or passwords

Mozilla Firefox is not saving any of my usernames or passwords on any of the sites I visit and I'm wondering why. I clicked on Tools then I clicked on Options then clicked on the Security tab then under Passwords I checkmarked "Remember passwords for sites" then I clicked OK. When I visit sites that I regularly go on none of my usernames or passwords are saved. I have to type them in. Why is this?? How can I fix this??
Here are the sites that I regularly visit that won't save my usernames or passwords:
www.singlesnet.com
www.plentyoffish.com
www.evow.com
www.datehookup.com
www.christiandatingforfree.com

www.twitter.com
Somebody please help!!!!!!!!

Do you mean names and passwords in the Password Manager or do you mean that you are no longer logged on to (remembered by) websites after closing and restarting Firefox?<br />
If the latter happens then you have a problem with cookies that are not kept or the file that stores the cookies is corrupted.<br />
Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie.<br />

• Firefox is not saving my browsing history anywhere including the addressbar. All settings are correct in options.

I had to re-install Firefox and since then all my history in the address bar is not being saved. I have followed the instructions and checked all the settings to save history but still no history being saved. Is there a way to go back to original default settings?

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

• Firefox is not saving my preferences.

I read in Mozilla's knowledge base to check the pref.js file to make sure it wasn't a read only file.
I did that and it is not a read only file. In addition, I have pref files 1 through 88. i.e. prefs-1, prefs-2 ..........prefs-88. Is this suppose to be? The 88 files are dated 05/09/13 to 05/22/14.
What else could be the problem that my preferences are not saved?

There shouldn't be any numbered prefs-##.js files or other files numbered in this way.
The presence of numbered files indicates that there was a problem with renaming the numbered temp file to the original prefs.js file, possibly caused by security software blocking this file.
Delete a possible user.js file and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.

"Portables with built-in batteries"
Current Apple portable computer batteries are pre-calibrated and do not require the calibration procedure outlined in this article. These computers use batteries that should be replaced only by an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Apple recommend calibrating the battery when you buy a new Macbook and then every few months, or monthly if it used on mains all the time. This, as Apple says is to keep the battery operating at maximum efficiency. When the battery discharges and shuts the macbook down, it still has reserve power for a good number of hours. There is also a logic board battery to hold various settings.
I rather think I will take Apples advice on using their equipment not yours, but I would be intrigued to discover what is it you know that Apple doesnt about its batteries?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
* https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

• I keep getting a "Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible" message and firefox does not open. WHat is wrong and how do I fix?

I uninstalled Firefox from my computer, then I reinstalled it and tried to run it, but this message appeared, "Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible" and Firefox does not open at all.

hello davidrusso71, press windows-key+R on your computer and open %appdata%\Mozilla\ - an explorer window should come up, in there rename the folder labelled "Firefox" to something like oldFirefox. on the next start of firefox this should lead to a new profile being created...
you might want to import some of your old data into the new profile afterwards: Recovering important data from an old profile

• Firefox is not saving the password for my spam website.

This all started when I was browsing through my options and looked at my Saved Passwords. There were two entries for my spam e-mail website. I deleted one of them. Later, when I had to view spam, Firefox no longer remember my password. When I checked the Saved Passwords again, I went with Show Passwords, that area was blank for my spam website. So I deleted that entry also.
At this point, Firefox should have asked me if I wanted to save my password the next time I logged into my spam site, but it doesn't do that. I have added several new passwords to new sites, and Firefox saved them correctly, this website included.
Oh yeah, I'm currently using Firefox 7.0.1

The website may be using autocomplete=off to prevent Firefox from saving the name and password.
You can remove autocomplete=off with a bookmarklet to make Firefox save the name and password.

• Firefox not saving passwords, what maybe blocking this pls

I am using firefox 3.6.18 (because it is compatible with my A/V) and it no longer saves passwords. I suspect something may be blocking this; but have no idea.

Do you mean names and passwords in the Password Manager or do you mean that you are no longer logged on to (remembered by) websites after closing and restarting Firefox?
If the latter happens then you have a problem with cookies that are not kept or the file that stores the cookies is corrupted.
* http://kb.mozillazine.org/Websites_report_cookies_are_disabled (Other Solutions)
You Firefox doesn't offer to store password in the Password Manager then check that you aren't running Firefox in Private Browsing mode.
* You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
* To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting <b>Firefox will: Use custom settings for history</b>
* Uncheck: [ ] "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session"
Some sites like PayPal, Yahoo, Windows Live and bank sites use autocomplete="off" to prevent Firefox from saving and filling the name and the password.
If a site uses autocomplete="off" then look at this article for a bookmarklet to remove that autocomplete attribute and Firefox will offer to store the name and password.

• Firefox is not saving my tabs when Firefox starts back up after shutdown -- what can I do to fix this???

Ever since I updated to the latest Firefox 3.6.12 a several weeks ago I began to have this problem. Under 'Options' and 'Start Up' I have highlighted - when Firefox starts " Show my Windows & Tabs from last time". My settings have never changed since this last update to the latest version so I don't know why I am experiencing this problem. I will say that I did recently do a Windows Reinstall on my computer (Window XP - SP3) but this didn't start to become a problem until the latest Firefox update a week or two later so I doubt this may have something to do with the problem.
After looking on the forums for solutions to this problem I came across one thread, which said that this can be a problem with the file sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Profile Folder and then said what to do to find and delete these type of existing files. Well, I followed the instructions on how to do so and yet Firefox still doesn't always save my Tabs upon computer shutdown. I'd say 2 out of 3 times I do a restart or shutdown it saves my Tabs but 1 out of 3, it does not. By the way, I thought I'd also mention that this exact problem is happening on two of my computers both running Version 3.6.12.
So what gives?...could it be problems with the latest Version 3.6.12 causing this since that's when this problem started occurring? What else can I do to troubleshoot and finally fix this? ...it has become very frustrating since I keep a lot of open tabs before closing Firefox and never know when it's not gonna save!!!

Make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby.

• For some reason, Firefox is not saving ANY of my history. The back button is working, but I cannot open recently closed tabs, save tabs for previous visits or even view past history - it's just not there. Why won't my computer save history?

I can navigate backward and forward within one tab, or within one browser session, but as soon as the tab or session closes it's like all record of it is wiped from my computer. I'm not sure if the problem is my computer or firefox, but there doesn't seem to be anything like this mentioned out there and I would really appreciate some help.

Your useragent says your are running Firefox 3.6.13 -> is that true.
If not, do the following and post back your new Firefox version:
* Type about:config in the URL bar and hit Enter
* If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.
* Filter = general.useragent.
* Right-click the preferences that are bold, one line at a time, and select Reset.
* Then restart Firefox

• Firefox is not saving my history at all - why?

In drop-down menu, it shows the last 10 places I've visited, but if I go to "Show all history", there's nothing there.
I can search for specific things in the history dialogue box, and then they come up, but I can't see where I went today, yesterday, etc.

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
