Firefox keeps asking me to install adobe flash, but it will not install unless one clicks the 'edit options' button which it says is on a toolbar, but it is not there

clicking the 'edit options button is in teh instructions for downloading adobe flash...firefox 3.6.10, windows XP desktop

Ignore those instructions. I find the easiest way to install Flash is to use the manual installers, for details see http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html#main_ManualInstaller

  • How do I install Adobe REader? Their instructions for Firefox say to "Click on the 'Edit Options' button in the yellow bar at the top" but there is no yellow bar or 'Edit Options' button.

How do I download Adobe Reader 9 in Firefox? Their instructions say to begin by clicking on the 'Edit Options' button on the yellow bar at the top. I have no such bar or button on my Firefox start page.

The instructions on the Adobe site are outdated and do no longer apply to current Firefox versions and you can ignore those instructions and save the Adobe installer to your desktop and start the installation with a double-click on that file.

    Hello Pepperbrewer,
While there's no way to get flash on your iPad and probably never will be, you can use several things to help you access some flash products.
    1) Skyfire for the iPad is a web browser that will convert flash videos and allow you to play them on the iPad.  Simply purchase it from the App Store and then you can use it instead of Safari when you want to view flash videos.
    2) SplashTop for iPad will allow you to remote control your desktop or laptop computer and use it from the iPad.  You basically install the SplashTop software on your computer, set it up, then load SplashTop on your iPad and it will allow you to use the computer from your iPad -- that means you can do anything your computer can do.
I'm guessing in your situation Skyfire will be the best option for you.
Fortunately the popularity of the iPad/iPhone/iPod is forcing a lot of major sites to use non-flash options, so in the next few years we may not care that flash isn't available.
Adobe is also working on a lot of tools, and have some available now, that will help sites switch away from Flash to use HTML5 instead.
Lastly, you're welcome to follow the other suggestions and find a buyer for your iPad 2. If you do choose to do that, I would recommend you spin the product positively, as you will get much less money for it if you let your frustration bleed off on the new buyer.

That "edit option" info is for older versions of Firefox.
    1. You need to use Firefox at the Adobe website to get the NPAPI version of Flash for non-IE browsers.
Download the Flash plugin from the Adobe [http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/thankyou/ Thank You!] page via:
'''If it does not start, [http://www.adobe.com/go/fptroubleshoot click here] for troubleshooting information.'''
On the [http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/support/index.html troubleshooting page] click the link at the bottom:
If you are still having problems, [http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe click here to download].
    Save it to your Desktop.
    2. Close Firefox using File > Exit
then check the Task Manager > Processes tab to make sure '''firefox.exe''' is closed,
    3. Then run the Flash setup file from your Desktop.
    * On Vista and Windows 7 you may need to run the plugin installer as Administrator by starting the installer via the right-click context menu if you do not get an UAC prompt to ask for permission to continue (i.e nothing seems to happen).

  • Sites that use adobe flash player work on safari but not on firefox-it keeps asking me to download adobe flash player

Whenever I try to use a web site that needs Adobe Flash Player, Firefox asks me to download it. When I download it and try again, it still asks me to download. When I access the same web site using Safari, I have no problem. This is true for many web sites - whichever ones require Adobe Flash Player.

    Carole,
You do not seem to have Adobe Flash (aka Shockwave Flash) installed. If you did you would see it listed under your plugins. Follow the instructions in the article below to install Flash in Firefox.
    See: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Installing+the+Flash+plugin
After the installation, check your version here: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
    or here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/
    Current version is: 10.1.53.64

  • DW keeps asking for new version Adobe Flash Player

    Hello There,
I try to show a Flash-10 animation in DW CS4 and I get the messageVoor het weergeven van de inhoud op deze pagina is een nieuwe versie van Adobe Flash Player vereist.
In English: for representing the content of this page you need the new version of Adobe Flash Player.
I download the new version (two times: In IE 8 and Firefox) and I still get the same message. How come?
When I try-out in Flash everything is OK and the HTML-page is also OK in every browser there is.
Can anybody help me out this mess?
    Thanks in advance,
    Robert

    Hello Waterdad,
Thanks for your reply, but it didnot solve the problem yet. I have the following remarks to your answer:
Yes, I am running Windows, but I have no firewall active. I do use Norton, but that should not be the problem.
How is it possible that directly from Flash everything works perfectly in publishing (Flash, HTML, etc.) and when I export the file to DW and make a blank page with only the flash-item it fails. For clarity: live view is also working perfectly.
The browser effect is then that IE8 does not react at all, Safari shows a blank page and Firefox comes with the announcement of the new version as noted above. So in one way or another the browsers recognize my brand new Flash version as an older one.
When I make a video in Flash, the f4v-extension does not work either, the flv-extension works perfect. Seems to be the same problem.
I hope you can say some more about a possible solution.
    Robert

  • Firefox keeps telling me to reboot, even after rebooting. Will not allow uninstall. Keeps asking to reboot. Why??

Well, Firefox was working just fine, until the version 19 upgrade came out. Now, I am unable to run Firefox. I keep getting an error that Firefox needs to reboot my computer to complete a previous upgrade. I have allowed the Firefox installer to reboot my machine several times, but it continues to ask to reboot my computer. It will not proceed past this point.
Additionally, I get the same error when attempting to uninstall Firefox. So, I can't uninstall the program to do a clean reinstall, and I can't get the current installation to finish doing its upgrade.
I have tried running the program as Administrator. No change. I also looked for the *.xml files having to do with Firefox updates, but I don't appear to have those files on my computer, and I know better than to just randomly delete files.
I also have backed up my configuration files directory to another location, just so I don't lose all my bookmarks, passwords, etc.
I am using Chrome to write this, as Firefox is completely non-functional on my system, as of now.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    L

Hello zalloy, try to delete the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profiles.ini_file profiles.ini] file in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder Profile folder], to see if the problem is there, restart firefox and check if working.
otherwise go for a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before reinstalling the new copy of Firefox, see: certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!
if you can not delete the Mozilla Firefox program folder, try to boot Windows in Safe mode (press F8 on the boot screen) to see if that allows to delete that folder.
    thank you

  • Adobe Flash Player Installer Will Not Work

As the title suggests, my adobe flash player will not install on my Mac Book Pro.
About 3 weeks ago my computer started saying I needed to upgrade my Flash Player for it to watch videos. So I tried.
I went to Adobe.com and tried installing the Flash player, the file its self downloads fine, but when I try to run the installer It gets stuck at 30% every. Single. Time.
I tried uninstalling Flash player, turning plug ins on and off, no luck.
I was running 10.8.5 OS the other day on my mac, and decided to upgrade to OS Yosemite today to see if that would solve the issue, no luck.
I'm all out of ideas, please help.

    Try the offline installer:

  • Adobe Flash (newest download) will not open facebook messages.

I am using the newest version of Adobe Flash on Windows 7 with Internet Explorer 10. When I try to open my messages on facebook all I receive is a blank screen. If I remove Adobe Flash from my computer I can view my messages. Is there a fix for this, or is there a way that I can add another update, or go back to another version of Adobe Flash so that I can view my messages?

Have you blocked a component called ''plugin_container.exe'' with your firewall by any chance? Check the logs.
Try downloading the [http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html Flash Player Uninstaller]
Next, reboot and then go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ It should give you the option to install it immediately without the need to download it.
Be aware though that when you run the uninstaller, it will also remove Flash from IE8 (or 9), so if you use either of those, you'll have to go to the same site again and download it from within Internet Explorer.

Received message that Adobe FlashPlayer needed to be updated. I try walking through the steps and it will never download. Cannot view news clips or videos sent to me. Receive a message "The plugin for this content has been disabled. Click here to manage." If I click, nothing happens.

hello Guido077, does it make a difference when you keep the real plugins disabled under ''firefox > addons >plugins''?
please also [https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/update/ update firefox to the latest version] as soon as possible and keep your [https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/ plugins on the latest level] too...
