Firefox "stops working" and shuts down every few mins or less.

A message pops up that says Firefox has stopped working and to close the program. I can "refresh" to the same spot but it's happening every few mins or less. Any suggestions? It's only been happening for the past 3 days, and like others who's systems are "crashing," it's only been happening since the newest update (18) updated onto my computer. I have already done the Firefox refresh or whatever it was called... The only thing that did was get rid of my extra bookmark toolbar rows...still trying to figure out how to get those back! :(

We're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.
#Enter about:crashes in the Firefox location bar (that's where you enter your website names) and press Enter. You should now see a list of submitted crash reports.
#Copy the most recent 5 report IDs that you see in the crash report window and paste them into your forum response.
Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Help please! can't import CDs, Itunes stops working and shuts down:(

Hi All, Itunes worked fine up until couple of days ago and now when I insert a CD to import it recognises the CD but when it starts importing, itunes stops working and shuts down immediately. What do I need to do? I read the discussions but couldn't find an answer, most questions were about burning a CD so your help will be highly appreciated...many thanks indeed

Itunes worked fine up until couple of days ago and now when I insert a CD to import it recognises the CD but when it starts importing, itunes stops working and shuts down immediately.
First we need to check your precise version number, elektra. In iTunes go "Help > About iTunes" and wait for the version number to scroll up from the bottom of the screen.
Do you see *iTunes 10.1.0.54* ? If so, we need to update you to version 10.1.0.56 . It probably wont appear for you in Apple Software Update if you already have a 10.1.0.54 already installed, so you'll need to download the installer from the Apple Website, as per the following document:

Hi thanks for the encouragement.  It's not that the severs are "swamped", iOS 7 has been successfully installed.
I can't access the apps list in iTunes because it *****
down.  Its pretty frustrating because many of my apps require me to manually transfer files into iTunes first to view
them.  Not sure if the servers being swamped is an issue for me, unless they release a bug fix through another version of iTunes.
Has anyone else had this problem?  My iPad is pretty useless unless I can access my app list in iTunes....

  • 10.5 will not let me add album name. itunes stops working and shuts down

10.5 will not let me add album name. itunes stops working and shuts down.

I am having this problem.  At first with the new iPhone 5, and then with the iPad 2.  I am not sure why this is happening.
My gut feeling is this is an iO6 issue and here's why -
The problem mainly occurs with apps.  I have about 150 apps, and when I plugged in the phone, iTunes went to sync all of them.  The process would hang up after about 20 - 30 apps were loaded onto the phone. I could tell where about the process hung up because the apps on the phone showed up as "waiting".
Then on the iPad 2 I plugged in to sync and saw there was a huge "Other" component in my storage.  It required me to restore the iPad 2 from backup.  With this restore the same issues occurred - putting the apps back on the iPad would hang up.  The videos on the iPad also got stuck - maybe after about 10 hours of videos transfered iTunes crashed.
My solution has been to soft reset the device, restart Windows, and continue the process until it's complete.  This is remarkably inefficient and time-intensive but everything works with patience.
I have been wondering if others have had these same problems.

  • Photoshop CS5 has stopped working and shuts down

I purchased Photoshop CS5 in March 2011 and after trying to install software I was unable to do anything in Photoshop without getting the following error message:  "Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working".  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.  I was unable to open any psd file or new file withouth that error message.  After you close that error message window, Photoshop immediately closes down. I had someone from Adobe remotely fix this problem.  Now it is appearing again and I am unable to use the program.  I need help with this.  Please.

  • Reader XI stops working and shuts down

Adobe Reader XI shuts down when trying to open a pdf file. I've already run the clean-up utility and re-installed it but continue to have the same problem.  This is on Windows 7 premium home edition,

    Some things to try...
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
If you cannot open Reader by itself, try to disable Protected Mode in the registry; download, unzip, then run the attached registry script
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

  • Macbook shuts down every few min. year ago started saying"StartVolum full"

my macbook just shuts down by itself in the middle of everything and with energy..
yesterday almost every 15 min but i was always able to simply turn it on again, like nothing happend, then almost 24h everything back to normal and just now it happend again two times...
about a year ago it warned, sometimes every 30 sec. the "Start Volume" was full and i would need to immediatly close some windows and erase some stuff so nothing would get damaged...
after six months give or take i turned my macbook on and everything was gone and its almost like back to factory settings, just some changes i had made, maybe the first year i had it...
itunes and iphoto was like never opened before.... and empty!!!!!
but i found some files somewhere which i think could be at least parts of my stuff but i couldn't open nor move them...
don't know what to do!!!! i'm absolutly nnnnooooo computer person.....
i actually didn't use it that much, i would have thought there must be more memory left, i used only itunes and iphoto and i had sims2 on it but didn't play and dodn't take space.....did i?
sorry for my bad english and grammar but i'm desperate
    i love my macbook
    Mac OS X Version 10.4.11
    if that helps anything...

I had the same problem, and here's my fix.
Without calibrating the battery for a loong time, the battery no longer knew how much useable charge was left in itself! With 20 minutes left on the battery, the laptop would run out of battery and shut off without warning. It happened multiple times and I got frustrated. After calibration I got some charge time back, but more importantly, the battery now knew its limits and reported the correct amount of time left. And now it goes into sleep & deep sleep when it needs to.
If you have not performed a calibration in a long time (over a year), do the calibration twice. It worked for me! You might notice a very large change in usable charge after a calibration. Mine went from 5000 to 2000 after first calibration, then back to 3500 after another calibration. I am guessing that my true current capacity is around 3500, after 114 cycles. So your battery should be about 2900 or so?

  • When using iTunes it stops working and shuts down.

I am unable to use the program at all, wether I am trying to sync my new iPod Touch or just to play music. The only thing I haven't tried is uninstalling the program and I am holding off on that until I find out if I am going to lose all of my music or not. Somebody, please help me.

    1. Close all apps in the Task Bar. Double-click the Home button and hold apps down for a second or two. Tap the minus sign to close app.
    2. Hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo.

  • Why does Elements stop working and shut down when I try to use the smartbrush tool?

I can use the smart brush tool until I need to change the color. The second I try to change the color of my object, I get a pop up window that says there is a problem and windows has to close to the program. I have already restarted my computer and it still does it.

There is an update available for Elements 13 which has stability fixes. Please install this update and let me know if you are still facing this issue.

  • MBP randomly shuts down every few hours (while plugged in)

MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Mid 2009
3.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Battery has been shoddy for a few years now. Only lasts about 15-30 minutes, but I just use the power cord.
Recently, the MBP (with cord plugged in) has been randomly shutting down every few hours. Immediately prior to shutting down, the status bar says the battery is fully charged, and I can unplug the cord, and there are no issues. When restart the computer, the battery will now say it's anywhere from 0-60% full.
The fact that the MBP shuts down even with the cord leads me to believe it's a logic board issue. If that's the case, what's the best option?
    I figure I can either:
    1. Replace just the battery and assume the healthy battery will weather any logic board lapses
    2. Replace both the battery and the logic board
My local Apple Store said they could replace the logic board and battery for $300 total.
Is this necessary, and if so, is it worth buying the parts and trying to replace myself?

Yes, it's the flat-rate depot repair.
Ok, you've (mostly) answered my primary concern... I was wondering what would happen if it turns out this isn't a logic board issue, and if my $310 would go to waste. The thing is that, right now, my MBP appears to be working perfectly fine until it randomly shuts off, which can take a few hours. So, if the depot replaces the logic board + battery, the MBP appears to be working there (I can't imagine they'll test it for more than 5 minutes), the depot sends it back, and after hours of use, I still have the same issue, I'll be able to get a refund, yes?
If so, I'll probably just opt for this deal since replacement parts on eBay appear to be about the same price.
    Thanks for the help!

My macbook pro is stuck on grey screen with apple symbol in center with the progress circle under it continusly spinning. After I had turned it on. Prior to turning it on I had to force close and shut down a few hours prior. Please Help I have tried everything I know to do

Unfortunately this means that there is a problem in the boot sector of your hard drive. It might be indicative of a fundamental corruption in the coding that allows your computer to boot your operating system from your hard drive. I had this problem twice and it resulted in me having to get a new hard drive and restore my data.
In other words, your computer can't talk to your operating system so you can't access your data.
Here is my advice: DON'T CALL APPLE TECH SUPPORT though they are kind and usually helpful it will take you an hour just to explain the situation and they will only tell you to do what I'm gonna say here.
First: Shut down your computer completely
Two: boot up while holding down the following keys: command, option, p, and r. The computer will reboot 3 times. This solution will likely fail so if you're frustrated skip to the next step.
Three: Boot up while holding down the option key. Select recovery drive. Select your default language. Select disk utility, click on Macintosh HD, and select "verify and repair volume." Likely the verification will produce some line like "unused node not erased." Or something like that. If anything using the words "node structure" comes up, you need a new hard drive.
If after verification and repairs you still can't boot I sincerely hope you have apple care because you will need a new hard drive. Set up an appointment to come in to the apple store, they will tell you to go and get data recovery, just ask them to give you the old hard drive. Unless you have an up to date backup in which case you can just restore from that. If you're lucky the only issue is with the boot sector which means that if you ask them to give you the old hard drive, you can buy an enclosure and you have effectively been given a free external hard drive. It still works to store data just not to load an operating system.
If you have a back up drive bring it to the apple store and they'll do the whole thing right there, it should take around an hour and a half but may take longer.
Hope this helps, it's annoying but it's your safest bet.
    All the best.

  • Recent freezing and shutting down every down 10-15 minutes and hard to log in to internet very slow

My son has 2009 Macbook white version and recently (last week or so) freezing all the time, cannot log on to internet, and shuts down every 10-15 minutes. Is there a download (free hopefully to clean it up for any spyware or maleware). He is a student and very busy in University and cannot be without the computer?

He will need something to back up onto like an external hard drive. The disks are necessary if the hard drive needs to be repaired, you can't repair the boot volume so you need to start up from an install disc and run Disk Utility from there. When you talk to him have him resettle SMC and pram, sometimes unexpected shutdowns can be corrected that way. The freezing is another issue, I'm concerned with the health of his hard drive. Another thing to ask when you talk to him is how much total space and how much free space does his hard drive have?
    To reset the SMC
    MacBook and MacBook Pro
Laptops with a battery you can remove
    Shut down the computer.
Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from the computer, if it's connected.
    Remove the battery.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Newer Mac portables with a battery you don't remove
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.
    Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
