Firefox upgrade prevents access to NAS web page

Firefox is the likely cause of the web admin page of a Buffalo Linkstation Live 1Tb network attached storage device being inaccessible.
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== on every attempt to open the NAS web admin page after Firefox upgraded to 3.6.6

You're welcome. I am marking this thread as '''solved'''.

Need help accessing the router web page.  I have been told my router is acting like a switch and the IP address is not in the proper range.  I have tried reseting the router (hold for 30 sec and unplug for 5 mins).  Didn't work.
    thanks

What router are you using?  Almost all Linksys routers use 192.168.1.1 as the default local IP address, but there is at least one that uses 192.168.16.1 , namely the WTR54GS  (not the WRT54GS).
You need to try again to reset the router to factory defaults.
To reset your router to factory defaults, use the following procedure:
    1) Power down all computers, the router, and the modem, and unplug them from the wall.
    2) Disconnect all wires from the router.
    3) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    4) Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release it, then let the router reset and reboot (2-3 minutes).
    5) Power down the router.
    6) Connect one computer by wire to port 1 on the router (NOT to the internet port).
    7) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    8) Power up the computer (if the computer has a wireless card, make sure it is off).
    9) Try to ping the router. To do this, click the "Start" button > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. A black DOS box will appear. Enter the following: "ping 192.168.1.1" (no quotes), and hit the Enter key. You will see 3 or 4 lines that start either with "Reply from ... " or "Request timed out." If you see "Reply from ...", your computer has found your router.
    10) Open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1. This will take you to your router's login page. Leave the user name blank (note: a few Linksys routers have a default user name of "admin" (with no quotes)), and in the password field, enter "admin" (with no quotes). This will take you to your router setup page. Note the version number of your firmware (usually listed near upper right corner of screen). Exit your browser.
If you get this far without problems, try the setup disk (or setup the router manually, if you prefer), and see if you can get your router setup and working.
If you cannot get "Reply from ..." in step 9 above, your router is dead.
If you get a reply in step 9, but cannot complete step 10, then either your router is dead or the firmware is corrupt. In this case, use the Linksys tftp.exe program to try to reload your router with the latest firmware. After reloading the firmware, repeat the above procedure starting with step 1.
If you need additional help, please state your ISP, the make and model of your modem, your router's firmware version, and the results of steps 9 and 10. Also, if you get any error messages, copy them exactly and report back.
Please let me know how things turn out for you.

  • Firefox won't save images or web pages, even after upgrading, reinstalling and resetting... How do I fix this?

A couple upgrades ago, I noticed that Firefox wouldn't boot properly. According to "Task Mgr.", it would load partially with a "*32" after it's name in the listing, but not enough to display a window on screen. After ending the process, and restarting the program again it would usually boot fully. (not always, but usually) The "*32" confuses me as I run a 64bit Windows 7 system and during installation I was sure that I saw mention of a 64bit program being installed. Apparently, after the last upgrade, that issue was resolved; but Task Mgr. still lists the program with a "*32" after it.
The issue now at hand is that Firefox won't save images online or save web pages. I'll right-click and select "save image as" or "save page as" and... nothing. No box appears prompting me to name a file or designate a location to save that file to. Nor does anything happen when I use the "File" menu for the same function either. This is, to say the least, is very frustrating. There may be other things not functioning that I'm not currently aware of, but I haven't been able to or had time to do a complete check of the functionality of the program. I've never had issues of any significance with Firefox in the past. It's always been very reliable for me, so I'm hoping there's a relatively quick fix that I simply haven't been made aware of yet...
Thank you for your suggestions and time looking into this matter...
    Curtis Laipple

It probably will take a little time to work through this troubleshooting article, but hopefully you will get a complete solution: [[What to do if you can't download or save files]].
Regarding the *32, I see the same thing on Win 7 Pro x64. No worries. Firefox for Windows is compiled only as a 32-bit application.

  • Firefox became incredibly slow on every web page

    Hi,
My Firefox became really slow on all the web pages for unknown reason since one month ago, while I haven't installed any new features and was working with the web sites I used to use. Since then I've switched off most of the plugins such as Flash Player, as I suspected that they might have caused the slowness. But it didn't make any difference.
Working with Firefox has really become a pain now as it reduced my efficiency from 100 to 0. Basically every action I take with keyboard or touchpad has a delay, even clicking on a tab it takes 10 seconds or so to switch to that tab, and every time when launching Firefox, my laptop's CPU goes straight up and remains at 100%. Besides it crashed frequently, or pages became wholy black after some time, which forced me to restart many times a day, even if really few tabs are opened.
I tried to check my plugins through "plugincheck" from Firefox, but it has kept loading there with "Checking with Mozilla on the status of your plugins" for hours without showing anything.
I'm running Windows 7 Service Pack 1 with 3 GB of RAM, and more than half of hard drive space remain free. I also have Google Chrome on my laptop but I still prefer Firefox, if this issue can be solved!
    Thanks for any help! :-)

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Firefox can't access a specific web site

This problem is driving me crazy.
At home and office I can't access a specific web site.
I have tried everything I was able to: cleared cache, deleted cookies, deleted firefox prefs, flushed DNS, tried to log with IP instead of domain, created a new user account in Mac OS, repaired permissions, but nothing happens!
The strange thing is I can access the web site trough a proxy. And I don't have a firewall or similar, my Mac is conected directly to the web. And the problem is the same in any browser I use, like Safari or Firefox.
Anyone has any idea about what is causing my problem?
Just in case, the site is demonoid.com and it's running ok in other computers I tested.
    Message was edited by: nikollas

No proxies, AV, firewalls or anything. The internet cable is pluged into this Mac.
The problem began 2 weeks ago. When I loaded the page the browser shows status done at the bottom of the window, and at the address bar I see the icon of the web site nd the address but nothing is shown. The source code for that page also is in blank.
I am now using firefox 3 and still have the problem. Safari is up to date with no enhancers. I uninstall all extensions from Firefox also.
    Hard to believe, hum?

  • Access bookmarks online web page

Can I access my Firefox bookmarks online without having to sync ? When using a public computer I would like to get access to my bookmarks but do not want to sync with a shared computer that I am using as a guest.

Firefox does not have that feature; the way Sync is hosted doesn't have web access. There might be an add-on which can make your bookmarks available in the cloud, either associated with an existing cloud server or simply using some free storage space you might have (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.).
I think some users might "roll their own" hosting solution using Firefox's feature of creating an HTML-format export of their bookmarks at shutdown. You can open that file as a web page in any browser, with your bookmarks listed as links, so it's just a question of where to store it online and how to easily get it there.
Using Dropbox as an example, you can save the file in a folder Dropbox mirrors to the cloud, and then you could open it from Dropbox on the other computer. Assuming you trust the computer enough to log into Dropbox on it...
''How to use this feature if you're interested: ''
    (1) In a new Firefox tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''book''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click the '''browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML''' preference to switch it from false to true
    (4) Select and copy the following preference name:
    browser.bookmarks.file
    (5) Right-click any preference > New > String. In the dialog asking for the preference name, paste '''browser.bookmarks.file''' and click OK. Another dialog will appear.
    (6) Leaving that tab open, launch a Windows Explorer or My Computer window, and navigate to the folder on your computer where you want to save your bookmarks file. Click in the "address bar" of the Windows Explorer window and copy the full path.
    (7) Back in Firefox, paste into the dialog asking for the path. At the end, after the last \, type the actual file name you want to use, such as bookmarks.html and click OK. The new preference should show up in alphabetical order in the list.
The next time you exit Firefox, within 15 seconds that new file should appear.

  • Firefox won't load parts of web pages or let me log into certain websites

I don't quite know how to really explain this, so I'll provide two examples of the problems I'm experiencing:
The first is that, whenever I go onto any of those Wikia sites, Firefox doesn't seem to load anything other than the main page content. By this, I mean that it won't load any "Recently edited/added pages" box or "Recently uploaded images" box on the right hand side of the page, nor will it open the Contents tab to navigate different sections of the main page content itself.
Another problem I'm having is logging in to a website I usually frequent. It uses Facebook, Twitter and/or Google+ to log in, and the site has recently started running on Flash and Silverlight. Up until a few weeks ago, I am unable to log in to this website for the same reason as the example above - it just doesn't seem to load after clicking to log in, yet the rest of the site is fully functional.
In regards to the former example, I did manage to do something with Java that managed to fix it, however when attempting to emulate the solution when it happened again, nothing happened. I'm unsure of what the problem is. Can someone help?

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Safe+Mode
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
You can open the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer).
Check on the Network tab if any content is blocked and has a file size 0 (zero).

  • Access to WPC Web Pages by Anonymous Users?

    Hello,
i want to give anonymous users access to Web Pages that were created with the Web Page Composer.
    In did the following:
    1. create the Web Pages,Site Navigation etc....
    2. edited the permissions of the site: grant anonymous users Read Access.
3.included the site navigation into the navigation of the anoymous users
When i access the portal as anonymous users and try to open a Web Page, i get a logon screen for Authentification.
I think that there is a problem, that i didn't find any way to set the Authentification Scheme for these Web Pages to "Anonymous". This is the way it has to be done with other iViews.
When i am accessing the page with an authenticated users, i have no problem with displaying the same Web Pages.
Is there anywhere an attribute i need to set? Or is it currently not supported?
    Regards,
    Marcus

    1. Configuration in PCD - go to Content Administration -> Portal Content-> Portal Content -> Web Page Composer -> Container iViews -> WPC
Default Containers. All of the iViews in this location should have the
"anonymous" authentication scheme. The next location which should be
checked is Content Administration -> Portal Content -> Portal Content ->Web Page Composer -> iView Templates. Again all of the iViews should
have the "anonymous" authentication scheme. The same applies to all the
templates which reside in Content Administration -> Portal Content ->
Portal Content -> Web Page Composer -> Page Layout Templates. Finally
check if all the pages which reside in Content Administration -> Portal
Content -> Portal Content -> Web Page Composer -> Page Layouts have the
    "anonymous" authentication scheme.
    2. Configuration in KM - make sure that all the pages, which should be
displayed to an anonymous user have in their permissions the Anonymous
    Users Group.
    3. Security zones - if you go to System Administration -> Permissions ->Security Zones -> com.sap.nw.wpc -> wpc -> no_safety and you open the
permissions of this object, the Anonymous Users group must be added in
    the list.
If all mentioned objects have their setting as described and you still
experience problems (e.g. you see a browser dialog window for
authentication), the reason most probably is, that the KM is not
configured for anonymous access. A full description of the needed steps
    is provided with note 837898.

  • Why does Firefox no longer display .php suffix web pages which are in my Mac?

I have a question about Firefox 14.0.1 displaying .php suffix web page files which are in a Mac running Mountain Lion OS 10.8. In eaarlier versions of Mac OS, for example 10.4.7, I was able to see properly displayed web page files with .html and .php suffixes when those web page files were in my computer. I refer to seeing the page as it should properly display, not seeing the source code. If a page had a .php suffix, the browser displayed the page properly although any php scripts embedded in that page were ignored.
Apple occasionallly updated its OS and browser makers occasionally updated browsers. One day, I noticed that Safari no longer displayed web page files in my Mac if those pages had a .php suffix. However, Firefox and other browsers continued to display web page files with .php suffixes although the embedded php scripts were ignored.
Now, I have Mountain Lion in iMac.
I can no longer see .php suffix web page files in my computer regarless of the browser I use. No browser displays those pages.
A .php suffix web page file which Firefox and other browsers display in 10.4.7 does not display in 10.8 if that web page file is in the computer.
In my computer, I have html and php suffix web page files I want to see using a browser. The files I want to see and the browser both are in my computer. Html files display perfectly with one exception: if php scripts are embedded in the html files, the scripts are ignored. A file the name of which ends with ".php" will not be displayed regardless of whether there is a php script in the file. Safari displays the source code only. Chrome does not display the file at all. Firefox and SeaMonkey, which displayed .php suffix web page files in earlier versions of the Mac OSm now respond to such pages by providing a dialog box which seems to assume that the file is about to be downloaded from the Internet. The dialog box asks me if I want to use the browser to open the file or if I want to save it to disk. The file is on the disk at the time, and the computer is disconnected from the Internet. I click that I want to use the browser to open the file. Then the dialong box reopens with the same question. This happens over and over. I never get to see a web page file in my computer the name of which ends with ".php". With Firefox 14.0.1, I can see .php suffix web pages which are on the Internet or in a 10.4.7 Mac but not in a 10.8 Mac. Did I miconfigure Firefox? It seems unlikely that Firefox lost the ability to display pages in Mac OS 10.8 which it displays in `10.4.7. How can I solve this web page display problem?

Haroon mentions two solutions. I used the easier one, which is to start the Apache webserver already in Mountain Lion and to enable the php already in Mountain Lion. It worked. I see the file correctly displayed with html, css, and php. I see the page by using Firefox. I enter an address in the address bar. For example, the address might be "localhost/example/example.php". I cannot see the page by using Firefox's "Open File ..." menu option or by dragging the file's icon onto Firefox's icon. I tried using your solution also but was unable to find the specific preference to modify. I found the page of preferences which may be modified but I could not find the one I need. I found a list of descriptions of the preferences at http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_:_FAQs_:_About:config_Entries
but I could not find the specific preference which I need.
By the way, to enable loading the php module, one uncomments a line of code by deleting the initial "#" character, and one does that by pressing control key and "P" key while the cursor is over the "#" character.
Also by the way, when I use Firefox or Safari to look at the Apache web directory in which my files are, the files are listed case sensitively. For example, the files are listed: Ace, Zygote, bar. This is because lower case follows upper case. THis annoys me. I prefer case insensitive listing. When I llok directly athe directory without using a browser, the files are listed case insensitively. For example, they are listed: Ace, bar, Zygote. I guess taht Apache is doing this.

  • Firefox does not print properly a web page having a SWF on it

I have been desperately looking everywhere on the
web to solve this issue and this is actually the first time I ask a
question in a forum, because I can always find my answers by
    Googling them.
This is fairly easy to explain, but this is a really annoying
    issue.
I got the latest version of Firefox and the latest Flash
Player version. If I print out web pages having SWFs on them, they
do not show either on the print preview, then on the print out
itself. How could this happen? Using Microsoft Internet Explorer, I
have no problem whatsoever to have everything printed out in the
    same context.
Is there actually a way to bypass that Firefox problem?
    Thanks a lot,
    Marc-André Lapierre

Does anyone know if this issue is being addressed by Adobe?
We have a Flash vector drawing app, utilizing XML, which was developed in '06. It works incredibly well, even though it was developed in AS2. However, we need the resulting images to be able to print within the page. It works fine for IE, but no dice for Safari and Firefox.
One work-around we've built in (essentially creating a rasterized image) slows down our system and has been causing our subscription rates to drop.
We are now looking at rebuilding this thing, but it is going to be expensive, time consuming and frustrating in order to deal with only a small segment of our users.
Would love to hear if Adobe is going to address this issue - has anyone heard anything or know of another fix out there?
    thanks,
    brian.

I cannot open the web page for my bank using Safari, Firefox, Googl, or Yahoo.  I can see others have had this problem, what is the fix?  I have reset Safari and made sure cookies are accepted and that did not fix the problem.  The bank assures me its the computer.  Problem with that is that other banks open fine, just not the one I'm trying to open.
