Firefox will not clear cache

I tried the beta version of FF 4, and deleted it, then when the full version came out I got it. Every since I had the beta version my FF will not clear the cache, I have tried a dozen ways to get my cache cleared and nothing is working.

Do you still see that the cache is used if you open the <b>about:plugins</b> page via the location bar?

  • Safari 5.1 will not clear cache

I have been at mac since, well forever, my Cube is still running and that was my 3rd mac, so not a total nub.
However, it seems that safari 5.1 is a bit broken. I do web page work, among other things, and I need to clear the Cache regularly. Unfortunately the "Reset Safari" command does absolutely nothing. My big question is within the Home/Library/Caches is the "com.apple.safari folder" inside that is the Cache.db (no application to open this) is this the actual cache? If SO if I remove it will Safari remake it, or will this brake Safari further?
    Thanks, All
Long long time since I been here . . .

I delete the cache.db all the time rather than emptying the cache from the menu bar or reset Safari. Web pages load much faster and I've noticed it clears a bug or two that just emptyhing the cache using Safari interface doesn't do.
Sometimes deleting the cache.db has helped with Safari crash reports >  https://discussions.apple.com/message/15854954#15854954
    is this the actual cache
For Safari. Yes. If you go to ~/Library/Caches. The next folder has the cache.db for all the associated apps.

  • Firefox will not open now - I just updated my privacy settings, and cleared cookies - what happened?

I changed the privacy settings on Firefox preferences, including clearing cookies, history and cache, and now Firefox will not open at all. It said it had to restart after one of the privacy changes, but it didn't and now won't open by the dock icon or thru applications. What happened, and how can I correct the issue to start using Firefox again? Thanks.

  • FireFox will not load facebook Or my games homepage and many other sites. It wont even let me clear the history like one artical said, But internetexplorerwill.

Firefox will not load Facebook.com, OR any of my gaming homepages. An artical Told em to clear history but it frezzes right in the middle. When i click on facebook itll Go to it And stop At "transfering data from (many diff things each time) And it frezzes, I ahve to open up task manager to get rid of it. Please help! it does this with many other sites also. This also started happening right after i came back with my computer from my grandmas.

You could try the new Reset feature. This duplicates certain key data from your active settings folder into a new one, bypassing some add-ons and custom settings. Your plugins will still be active, but could be disabled manually if you like.
More information in this article: [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]].
If the new settings folder has the same problem, you can switch back to your current folder, if you like, using Firefox's Profile Manager. (See [[Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles]] -- don't delete anything just yet; use this dialog to switch back and forth as needed.)
Does it work better after a reset?

  • HT6195 Safari cache will not clear......cannot get to current version of website.

I design our company website.  It was recently moved from Hostgator to Flywheel and I am unable to open a current version of the site or make changes via the admin page on Word Press and have it go live.  I have tried to clear the cache, but it will not clear.  Also, this is happening on my iPad 2 and my husbands MacBook Pro.  I cannot un-install safari because Maverick's won't let me.  I AM able to make changes and see the current live version on the Dell PC laptop I have.  Any ideas???

If it only happened in one location, that would work.....it occurs when mobile, at work, at home, everywhere.  Thanks for the thought though.

  • History in my search bar will not clear even though I have selected all the appropriate settings under tools/privacy etc. Is this a Firefox bug or am I doing something wrong?

No additional details - just can't figure out why the search history will not clear.

when i go to Music > Artist > All, as you suggested, i see all the albums i have listed. doesn't really relate to my problem with artists with songs in one album, as well as song w/o album set, and the latter not showing up.
but that reminds me, why is it when i go to the All section from a particular artist and they do have more than one album (or even no albums), the order of the songs is in the order they are in the albums.. if i wanted the order it is on albums, i would have selected that album for example.. it would be nice if the songs were in alphabetical order when you're NOT browsing by album, making a particular song easier to find (what if you have thirteen albums for example and u aren't sure which album a song is on, now you have to scroll through a seemingly random ordered list to find one song, alphabetical would be SOOOO helpful!)

  • Firefox will not load any web page, other programs will. Continuously "connecting"

Firefox will not load any pages, but Google Chrome will. Firefox will 'load' the home page, but with any other site, the tab will continuously circle and say "connecting". I have tried clearing my cache, starting in safe mode, and restarting my computer. So far, nothing is working.

Update..when I open firefox from scratch, the main firefox pages on the home page seem to work. But as soon as I try to go anywhere else, IE going to a website in the address bar or even trying to access the defauly bookmark links, it just sits there loading but never brings anything up.

  • Simply stated, firefox no longer works for my husband. Firefox will not open when my husband is user.

As a user, firefox will open for me. As a user, firefox will not open for my husband. Yesterday McAfee had to remotely turn the McAfee firewall back on. I don't know if during this process it somehow affected firefox.

    Hi DoesFirefoxRespond,
Thank you for your questions. I understand that there is an issue with accessing some bank sites. If you have already disabled Firefox add ons and have still experienced the same issue, please try the following:
    # Open a Private Window and login to the bank site to see if it causes the same issue. It will not use active logins or previous history.

Please post back with your results, we are happy to help.

Firefox will not open the St George logon window. It has for morre than 5 years but in the last 48 hours it has stopped. IE and Crome still do. We are using Firefox version 19 and just about ready to uninstall it for the last time out of sheer frustration. I

  • Firefox will not open with the new webroot sofeware

    I installed webroot version 7.0.4.102
Now my firefox will not load, and ones it starts to load it cannot be closed.

@glennhaste, the public pages I visited seem identical in IE8 and Fx10, but you may be referring to a part of the site that requires logging in (impossible for non-customers to view).
Since the problem is so recent, can you recall any changes you made in Firefox, or are you aware of any changes your CU made on its site?
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    1. Clear Firefox's Cache
    Firefox > Preferences > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"
    2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here
While viewing a page on the site, "right-click" and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies" (''Sorry, I don't know how you right-click on a Mac'')
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

  • After updating firefox will not launch

Ever since version 8 became available whenever I update FF it will not launch. No error messages or anything, just no response at all from the button. I have cleared the cache and cookies, completely removed FF using the control panel - add remove programs, deleted the FF folder from C: program files and then emptied the trash. then downloaded a fresh copy of FF from www.mozilla.org. Again no response at all when attempting to launch. not even an error report. Type '''about:preferences'''<Enter> in the address bar
