Firefox won't even open now that I've installed Snagit - what can I do to fix this?

Today I bought and downloaded Snagit (TechSmith) for Macintosh. When the program was being installed it asked me if I wanted a nifty Firefox extension installed. I stupidly (as it turns out) agreed! Now, Firefox won't even open. I've tried restarting the computer and still no luck. How can I diagnose the problem with Firefox? (I know that I could just download Firefox again but I don't want to lose my many bookmarks etc.)
I opened the file in the Firefox Application folder that gives crash information and it mentioned Error Code 1?

Please check the Page Display preferences (File > Preferences/Acrobat > Preferences) and make sure that Show Large Images is selected. If sounds as though this PDF may have been created from a scanned document, and this preference is disabled.

Just give us a means of opting out if we don't care about POST data; or opting out for certain web sites. We have an application that I use hundreds of times a day at work and as a result, I get that message hundreds of times. Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. Well, first things first... is the power cord fully plugged into the back of the iMac (and the wall, for that matter)?
Make sure the wall outlet has power, too... I've scratched my head over stupid issues where I forgot to flip a wall switch.
If the outlet does have power, then try doing a pram zap. Command + option + P + R (hold those at startup).
If the machine is receiving power, you should be able to see some LEDs if you look through the bottom grate of the machine to the left of the RAM door.

Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.

First, I would recommend repairing the hard drive with Disk Utility.
If that doesn't fix the problem, there's a very dangerous command you can execute in the Terminal. This is very hazardous, because a simple typo can result in very drastic consequences. I have seen people erase their entire hard drive by putting a space in the wrong place! So, please follow the directions I'm going to give you very carefully!
Open the Terminal, which is found in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder. In the Terminal, enter the following:
sudo rm -f
Make sure to put a space after the "-f"! Then, drag the troublesome file from the Finder and drop it on the Terminal window. That should insert the path to the file in the command. Then go back to the Terminal and press return. You will be asked for your password, and when you type it, nothing will be shown as a security measure. Press return again after entering your password. The file should be deleted.
