I'm trying to get Firefox to open any pdf files within firefox automatically when I click but every time I click, it asks me what I want to do. I've checked in options ==> apps, anything related to pdf files are set to open in firefox. I've tried restarting Firefox and my computer, nothing.

Firefox won't remember window size within the window

The size within the window will not remember it's size.
By either using the - / + or "Ctrl" & scroll wheel to change the size within the window...Firefox won't remember and when you go to the next window or link or tab or new page or whatever it goes back to the size it wants to be at (like a default size).
How do we get it to stay the same size for every page?

Firefox won't remember username and password on a certain site. I have the option enabled to remember passwords, and the site is not listed in the exceptions. On my home computer, Firefox DOES remember the password for this specific site. Any suggestions?

Do you mean names and passwords in the Password Manager or do you mean that you are no longer logged on to (remembered by) websites after closing and restarting Firefox?

Firefox won't remember my passwords.

Firefox will not remember my passwords, the pop-up box doesn't appear. I have checked my settings, but I am unable to hook off the "Remember passwords for websites"-setting, it has a pale grey color. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Firefox won't remember the tabs from when I closed it out last.

I signed out of my laptop to go and do something else, and when i rebooted it, and clicked on firefox it came up with my homepage, Bing, instead of the five other tabs I had had on it. As a test, I pulled up two different tabs, Facebook and DeviantArt, and I purposefully closed it again, hoping it was only a minor problem. When I clocked back onto it, it was Bing again. I've gone to tools, options, and looked under the start up settings, and it says it will remember tabs from the last session, but it isn't, and when i look under history, it only says Bing, even though I've been using firefox for over a year and i have more history than that. It's a very annoying problem since i just got used to the layout, and i don't like internet explorer, so i would very much appreciate if someone could help with my problem.

If Firefox doesn't offer to store passwords in the Password Manager then check that you aren't running Firefox in [[Private Browsing]] mode.
Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie.

FireFox won't finish downloading/installing

I have been trying to download FireFox for the past two or three hours. I am using Windows XP Pro. A box pops up that says... "you're about to enjoy the very latest in speed," etc and near the bottom is a progress bar that has downloading/installing. These green bars scroll by like its trying to download and then they stop and the little green bars start one by one like it is finally downloading. On the last try, i had about 12-15 little green bars and then... they start scrolling again.... never making it over to the "install" part.... HELP!!! I have used Firefox on a previous computer but for the life of me I can't get it installed on this one.

Use the full version of the Firefox installer instead of the small stub that requires internet access.
Download and save the full Firefox installer to the desktop and start the installation with a double-click on the desktop icon.

Firefox won't let priting window to open, switch to safari ,printer works,

firefox won't let prints , no window, or messgae for printing comes up,,tried system preference..no luck,, so i switched to safari,, now prints out. so i know printer works,
computer is mac os X version 10.4.11
printer is epson stylus cx9400 fax
i have all info, and book mark on firefox, so i don't spend time on safari to startover..is there anything you can help ?

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: command+Shift+F). 
If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear. 
You can click the Maximize button at the top right to leave full screen mode or right click empty space on a toolbar and use "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press F11.

Firefox won't remember the place my extension icon is placed

I recently installed a new extension to my Firefox but I didn't like how it's icon is placed next to my home button so I moved it to somewhere else.. Now the problem is that Firefox doesn't remember this each time i reopen Firefox.
Any solution for this? Thanks!

Why is it my home page won't load when I open, my back and forward buttons don't work, the tabs have no boarders, they just show text and I can't tell which one I'm on sometimes, I can't download things, and firefox won't remember tabs when I close it?

I've tried switching to an older version, re-installing the latest version, deleting add-ons, clearing my history and cookies, and nothing works. What the heck?! I didn't do anything, it just flipped out when I opened it!!!!

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

Firefox freezes trying to download or save files, Import/Export bookmarks, clicking (Tools) Options (was: Fire Fox crashes in Windows safe mode and in Firefox Safe mode)

Firefox crashes every time I do any of the following. Then I have to force quit Fire fox.
If i click a download link on a web page, Firefox freezes the instant I click the link
...but Firefox does not freeze if I click a web link on a web page or page navigation link.
If i go to the Menu bar > Tools > Options, Firefox freezes the instant I select Options from the Tools menu.
...but Firefox does not freeze if select any other item from the Tools menu.
If I go to the Menu bar > File, Firefox instantly freezes the instant I select either "Save Page as..." or "Open file..."
...but Firefox does not freeze if I select any other option from the File menu such as: New Tab, New Window, Send Link, page Setup, Print, Exit etc
If I go the Menu Bar > Bookmarks > Show all Bookmarks > Import and Backup, Firefox instantly freezes the second I select "Import" or "Export"
... but Firefox does not freeze if I select any other command in the Bookmarks sub menus, nor does it freeze if I back out of the menu entirely.
Same as above for History if I select "Import" or "Export"
...so I have isolated the problem to a limited number of commands in Firefox that cause Firefox to freeze... described above. Everything else in Firefox works fine.
HERE IS A SUMMARY OF WHAT CAUSES THE FREEZING:
• Clicking a download link on a webpage
• Going to the Menu Bar > File and selecting "save as" or "Open File"
• Going to the Menu bar > Tools and selecting Options.
• Going to Bookmarks > Show all Bookmarks > Import and Backup and selecting either "Import" or "Export"
• Same as above for History if I select "Import" or "Export"
Everything else in Firefox works fine. I went through every menu command and checked for freezes. Only the commands I mentioned above cause the freezing.
I tried the following to try to fix it:
• Reset my modem and router (Problem still exists)
• Uninstalled FF. Deleted folders, profiles (Downloads.sqlite), Registry entries. Reinstalled. (Problem still exists)
• Restarted FF in Firefox safe mode. (Problem still exists)
• Restarted in Windows Safe mode and then started FF in Firefox safe mode (Problem still exists)
• Disabled Window firewall. Disabled ZoneAlarm firewall, Shutdown ZoneAlarm firewall. Set Internel Options to default settings. (Problem still exists)
• I reset the config option: browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone to false
What does work?
• Firefox does not crash when I click a link an go a website, navigate a page, use a menu item command.
• Firefox works fine on my other computer.
• Internet Explorer works fine on the computer that Firefox is having a problem on.
• My other applications work fine on the computer that Firefox is having a problem on.
I want to add that, I just overcame the XP Recovery Virus by following a post that suggested running the following software to fix the virus. Everything seems back to normal except Firefox.
The software I ran to fix the problem are listed below:
• malwarebytes
• superantispyware
• ccleaner
• combofix.
• smart defrag
• then load a good anti-virus. (I ran Zone Alarm virus scan)

This is about a question you posted to the Firefox Support forum three months ago (I'm sorry you never got an answer).
Did you ever fix the problem where Firefox freezes or hangs, when clicking a download link or using (File menu) "save as" or "open file"? Or when going to the Firefox (Tools) menu and clicking Options ? Or trying to Import or Export bookmarks?

I just got a new laptop and have discovered this issue: When I try to click links on some sites to open a lightbox or popup (usually for login boxes or photo slideshows) nothing happens. Absolutely nothing, no error message, no loading screen, no "busy" or "working" animations, no redirect. I've tried the same pages in the latest versions of Internet Explorer and Chrome and they work correctly. These sites work on my old laptop with the same version of Firefox and Vista SP2 32 bit and my work computer with Windows 7 64 bit.
I've tried disabling Add-Ons one by one and as a group, didn't make a difference. I've cleared the cache and cookies. I've turned by firewall and antivirus/antispyware/antimalware programs on and off.
Sites with a known issue: "View larger images" on Zillow.com, Login on Moviepilot.com, Login on doubletakedeals.com. I can't remember any others at the moment.

If you use extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) that can block content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Flash Block, Ghostery) then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

You can delete the permissions.sqlite file to reset all permissions.
Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Firefox won't remember my password etc on forums/websites i use regularly

I use ultimate reef and reef sanctuary forums and each time I access these sites I have to re-enter my user name and password despite having ticked the remember me box. I have same issue using btinternet.com. I am relatively new to Firefox having moved from IE due to having similar probs with my btinterent account, but didn't have them with the others.

Hello, I am having a unique and odd problem. FIrst, yes, I've verified that I've checked to "Accept cookies from sites to enable Cookies," but it doesn't seem to matter. Suddenly no site (using my laptop version of FF 3.6.1.) will take my passwords. They are valid. I can boot up my desktop (same version) and everything is fine. I was in a private browsing session. Things seemed fine. I came out of it. Things seemed fine. I rebooted--and I can't logon to a variety of sites, including Y-mail. Facebook works for some reason. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Can you drag links (e.g. bookmark or history items) in one of the slots?
Are you keeping history?
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing mode (Never Remember History).
