Fireworks not working on main user

I purchased the new WebPremium CS3 last year when it came out
and I can't use Fireworks on my computer unless I create a new user
and use it on that user. It is a real pain as I have to keep
switching users and find the files in the shared folders. I wasted
a day with Adobe uninstalling and re-installing this before they
told me it was a known issue. I have Windows XP service pack 2, and
thought that they would do an update to repair this, as a few other
programs I use need Fireworks to work properly. But here it is
almost three months later and nothing. Has anyone else experienced
this? And did you find a fix that their technicians don't know
about? It was only after talking to them off and on all day that
someone told me it was an issue, as it seemed a new problem to the
other three people I spoke to. I get this error when I try to open
Fireworks. "the application fireworks has unexpectedly quite. A
crash report has been generated"
Thanks

In case anyone wants to know what the issue was with
Fireworks, it is apparently a connection to Dreamweaver! What I had
to do was to export all the sites I have listed, and then go into
the regedit and rename the Fireworks folder (within the Adobe
folder) and the sites folder (that path is: adobe - common - 9 -
sites). Then Fireworks would open. I imported all my sites at once,
and Fireworks wouldn't open again. So I went back and changed the
newly created folders in Reg edit again and then one by one
imported my sites until I found the one that was causing the
problem. I deleted it and then renamed it, and set up that file
again and everything worked. ( I imagine if you just deleted them
all from your list of sites, that would work too, if you weren't
keen on touching your regedit) The issue with the site that was
causing the problem was (I think) that the person's web site has an
apostrophe and although their domain doesn't, I named the site this
in the manage sites section, and it allowed it but screwed up
Fireworks.
It's a strange problem and this is the way they've worked
around it. I'm most relieved to be able to use Fireworks within the
same user again!

  • Flash plugin not working in main user acct

I installed the adobe flash plugin several times - nothing was working. Then, I took the advice of a previous poster and created another user account. The plugin is working perfectly under the other user account, but not under the main admin. I've also tried deleting the preferences, moving the preferences, resetting safari...etc. etc. I'm at my wits end!!

    Hi
Please check that all web-content boxes in your main user account are checked in Safari Preferences>Security panel. If they are:
Uninstall Flash via the Adobe method. You can do this with this Adobe Uninstaller.
Next, download a current copy from here - in your case it would be the PPC version.
When done, Safari automatically opens to the Adobe Flash page confirming the plug-in was correctly installed.
Quit Safari and "repair permissions" using Disk Utility in the Utilities folder. If Safari crashes, still "repair permissions" before going on to the next suggestion.

  • Caps Key not working in main user account

Caps key does work in a guest account. Just bought this 13" Macbook Pro and transferred my user account from my old Powerbook. Over the air since I didn't have a firewire 800 to 400 cable. Everything seems to work fine but that.
Should I do a backup and then full restore? I can use SuperDuper or Time Machine.
    Any ideas?

What OS do you have on the Power Book? If you have an older OS on the PowerBook, you won't be able to restore that clone to your new computer, as you can't have an OS older than the hardware.
Here is what I would do. Clone the drive to an external. Then run migration assistant and transfer your files. Then see if the problems persist. If everything is good, then no worries. If problems persist, I would bite the bullet, do a clean install, and unfortunately, drag and drop. You really only need to drag the main folders of your Home folder (Documents, Movies, Pictures, Music). That's where usually all the user-created content is. If you have it saved in other locations, you'll have to move that. I save all my stuff in these folders, so a drag+drop is pretty simple when I need to do it.
As for your app settings and app support in your Library folder, on a computer that old, I'd reinstall all those apps, and go through my app preferences from scratch. Depending on how many apps you have, it's not a daunting task.
I actually enjoy clean installs, as they give me an opportunity to get rid of junk I don't need, and apps I don't use. Plus they make your computer run faster.

  • Flash Player does not work with Standard User, but will work when browser is "Run as Administrator"

I don't understand why this is happening, but Flash Player will not work when a Standard User is using the browser. It will only work when the browser is run as an administrator. Any way to fix this? I've tried to uninstall, and reinstall the player, and it still wouldn't work.
The user is on Windows 7, 64-bit. Using IE 10.
Flash not working for Standard User - YouTube

Any update to provide at all here guys?  Again, in my situation, it's very much rights-related as a standard user doesn't even report that the flash player exists when testing it on the Adobe Flash Version Detection website (despite it showing up in Control Panel and under Add/Remove Programs).  I've already tried giving the C:\Windows\System32\Macromed and files/subfolders appropriate permissions for the standard user and still nothing.  If I either give the user in question full local admin rights or logon as the domain admin, then the Adobe Flash Version Detection website says Flash is installed and Flash works fine.

  • Thunderbird Mission Control Desktop/AutoConfig not working for some users

    I have the file: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\defaults\pref\custom.js"
    It contains:
    pref("general.config.obscure_value", 0);
    pref("general.config.filename", "TMcustom.cfg");
    I have the file: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\TMcustom.cfg"
    It contains:
    var promptService = Components.classes["@mozilla.org/embedcomp/prompt-service;1"]
    .getService(Components.interfaces.nsIPromptService);
    promptService.alert(null, "title", "testing");
For most of my users the alert pops up fine when I start Thunderbird, but for a few it doesn't. All of the machines where setup with the same install script. If I log into one of the machines where it's not working as a different user, then it works fine, so I know the files are in the right spot. So why would it not work for specific users? Is there something in the user's Windows profile that could cause it to not work? Or are there any other suggestions?

  • After Upgradation BPF is not working for some users

    Hi All,
We have recently upgraded from BPC 5.1 to 7MS SP7.  we are having multi server setup with one application / reporting server (windows 2003 and one sql server 2008 (windows 2003 64 bit).
Intially before upgradation we don't have any issues with BPF and it worked fine for all users. But post upgradation tasks within the BPF  does not work for other users except for the first two people who first  used it. Other users have the same rights as the ones who can access the tasks.
when they  click on the link it gets them to eExcel and the right application but doesnt open the package or report assigned to the task. It doesn't give us any errors, on the status bar we get a message finalising but does  not getting any thing.
    Any inputs ??

    Hi,
Are you sure that those users have installed BPC 7 SP7 clients on their machine? Meaning that you uninstalled 5.1 clients and installed the new client from http://servername/Osoft?
If yes, you should maybe run a client diagnostic on the machines and also check the Management Console for any error messages.
Hope this will drive you to a potential solution.

  • MAM application is not working for some users

    Hi All,
Tha MAM application is not working for some users.Different users have different workcenters other than that I dont see any other change. When I run MAM30_090_GETLIST in the backend I can see the no of customized users. But I cant see same no of users in the MEREP_207 table for the Syncbo MAM30_090 and strcture id TOP in the middleware. There is a data when I checked under worklist monitor for that user. But neither the MAM application nor MAM data is downloading to that device.
If I use different user on the same device I can see the MAM application and MAM data.
What could be the wrong in this case. Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Mobile Client:MI 70 SP 15 Patch 0 Build 200802280918
    Middleware:SAP NetWeaver 2004s with Patch leve 15
    Backend:SAP ECC 6.0
    Application:MAM 3.0
    Thanks and Regards,
    Ameer.

    Hi,
from your description the source of your issue is quite obvious: some of the MAM users configured in spro are not configured properly.
For T01 SyncBos the number of TOP records in merep_207 MUST be the same as number of headers returned by an appropriate getList FM in the backend.
You need to solve this before you can go any further.
Reason why a record is not recorded in MEREP_207 - getdetail failed for whatever reason. So execute MAM30_ML_getdetail for each of the users that is not replicated in the middleware and check if there are errors in RETURN table. If there is no error - one of the common reason for replication fail is when there are records in item tables that have duplicate primary keys.

  • Fingerprint utility is not working for normal users - Tecra M11

    Hi All,
I installed windows 7 pro in Tecra M11 laptop and the Toshiba finger print utility is not working for normal users.
It is working only for domain administrators. The TFPU is not working for, normal domain users, local users, local administrators. If we run the utility it will ask to enter the windows password and once we applied the password then the message saying "entered password is not valid" will prompt even if we are trying to use the utility first time.
If we try with a domain admin account it will work without any problem. Can somebody help me to trouble shoot this issue?
    Thanks.

People nowadays experienced that no matter How many times we glide our finger it have no response. In this instance, you might be very afraid of Windows password lost by reason that there is a plenty of important data on your PC.
Then what should you do? One choose is fix the Fingerprint scanners, but this method will cost a lot of money. The other is use the Windows password function to solve the problem. Certainly, this is a very safer, faster and easier to use method for you.
According my personal experience, you can try these three ways to re-access to your PC:
Method 1: Login with the default administrator account
    * Step 1: Start Windows PC
    * Step 2: When you can see the Windows login screen, press ctrl+alt+del keys Twice and it'll show Classic Login box
    * Step 3: Type Administrator as Username and leave the password field blank
    * Step 4: Press the Enter Key and then you can be able to login the default windows administrator account which is it created by default when install windows.
*Note:* This trick is only work for Windows XP. And when you input the key combination Please don't put the cursor on any account. And if you change the name or password before, you cannot login by this way.
Method 2: Use the previous password reset disk
This method describes how to create and use a password reset disk for a computer that is a member of a domain. You can use a Windows password reset disk to gain access to your Microsoft Windows Professional-based computer if you forget your Windows password. Please click here to learn more.
Method 3: Using Windows Password Unlocker
Using Windows password remove software is could be the fastest and easiest way for you to reset your Windows password while you didn't create a password reset disk before.
There are 2 options for you: recover Windows password with a bootable CD/DVD or recover Windows password with a USB flash drive.
Before starting, a bootable CD/DVD or USB flash drive and a computer with CD drive are required. (Internal CD drive and external CD drive are both OK.
Option 1: Recover Windows password by burning a bootable CD/DVD
Option 2: Recover Windows password by burning a USB flash drive
The whole Windows password recovery process can be divided to 3 big steps:
    * >> Step 1: Burn a USB flash drive to remove lost Windows password
    * >> Step 2: Set your target computer to boot from USB
    * >> Step 3: Recover forgotten Windows password with the burned USB flash drive
In fact, all you need is a *Windows Password Unlocker www.passwordunlocker.com/windows-password-recovery.html which can help you directly reset your windows xp password, and then you can login your XP without a password required. Of course, there are also some other ways to do it, but this way may be most convenient one.

  • Synaptics touchpad on HP Mini 110 Windows 7 32 Bit - not working for one user - working for another

    Hi,
I recently have an issue with Synaptics touchpad on HP Mini 110 Windows 7 32 Bit - NOT working for one user - working for another.
Windows 7 updates recently installed ???
By checking the device properties on the user that works - "Synaptics PS/2 Port Touchpad 13/10/2011 Version 15.3.29.0"
When the other user logs on, the touchpad works for a few seconds, then a displays a black square with a red diagonal line through it, then the touchpad won't respond. Trying to use the keypad to navigate to system diagnosics or anything to find further info is useless....

    Hey eagle_no11,
Thank you for joining the HP Support Community!
I will do my best in assisting to hopefully get the TouchPad to work on the second user profile.
What I would like to start off with, is to restore the original Synaptics drivers onto the profile that is not working correctly. I have included the document Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 7).
Once you have installed the original drivers, you will need to complete all updates from both HP, as well as Windows. For these updates, if you open the HP Support Assistant, and select Maintain, you should see an option for updating.
Please let me know how these steps do work out for you.
    Have a great day!

  • ICloud for pages app not working on network users having home folder on Mac Mini Lion server

  • Safari (7.0.1) is non-responsive (spinning pinwheel) upon start up.  It will work in temp user account but not in my main user acct.  I tried reinstall via comman-r prompt on start up but the problem persists.  Any suggestion for reinstall or repair?

Safari is non-responsive after intitial start up.  Before it can load the homepage (google), it will hang and give a perpetual pinwheel until I force quit the program.  Safari works in temporary user account but not in my primary user account.  I have reinstalled osx via the command-r upon start up and the problem still persists.  Any suggestions on how to reinstall or repair safari?

Thanks for thinking about my problem. I've already experimented with creating a new user, a co-administrator. The programs don't crash when that account is running, just as they don't crash when the guest-user's account runs. So it seems that the problem is limited to the default user's account, which is the one that was running when I installed the updates to the OS and the firmware. Another clue is that the programs that crash as soon as they are launched are *probably* the ones that were open at that time in that account. Yet deleting Saved Application States does not keep the programs from crashing when next launched.
So the mystery continues, but these additional facts will help with the diagnosis, I hope.
    Thanks again for your suggestion.

  • Corporate connectivity not working for some users

    Hi,
I'm having an issue that started about a month ago but is getting worse.  A select group of users are no longer able to connect using DirectAccess, even though these users have been using their computers for a few months without issue.
    BACKGROUND:
    -Windows 2008 R2 DirectAccess server
    -Windows 7 x64 enterprise clients
-Most clients experiencing the issue have a newer laptop (Lenovo T440 with Intel 7260AC wireless), but the issue is not limited to this model. Also, I have 25+ other Lenovo T440 units that connect without issue to this day.
    TROUBLESHOOTING STEPS:
I have tried disabling the various interfaces used for directaccess on these problem machines and have not been able to narrow it down.  Essentially- I've noticed the IP-HTTPS interface shows deactivated, so I'll disable Teredo.  This
usually allows the IP-HTTPS to show activated, and connectivity is restored.  However, after 30 seconds to a few minutes, connectivity will once again drop.  So I'll re-enable teredo (default, client, or enterprise client) and connectivity will kick
on for another brief period, but drops again shortly after.
I have confirmed that during these short periods of connectivity working, the wf.msc shows connectivity using NTLM and Kerberos, but the clients just can't seem to stay connected on any interface.
However, in the wf.msc when the clients are not functioning, I only ever see one NTLM entry.

    LOGS:
Below is a directaccess client log pulled from a non-functioning client before making any changes or any testing.  Feel free to ask for the rest of the log if needed-- I have put in place holders for information that may be sensitive.  Thank you!!
RED: Corporate connectivity is not working.
Windows is unable to relocationve corporate network names. Please contact your administrator if this problem persists.

  • Mail not working for local users

I have sunOS 5.9 running on sun sparc
mail is not working on this system even for local users.
I have tried from the command prompt
    mail username
    Test email
    ^D
nothing happens after control D, I don't get command prompt.
    I also tried
    mail username
    Test email
    nothing happens
sendmail daemon is not running on this system but my understanding is that sendmail is not required. I need mail to work only for local users to receive emails for failed cron jobs etc, it is not required for this system to send or receive emails to/from outside world.
Can someone guide or point in right direction to fix mail functionlality for local users?

Actually, with recent versions of sendmail, you do need sendmail running to be able to send mail.
You never used to, but since they made sendmail no longer setuid root, you do.
Sendmail has essentially been split into 2 daemons a local queue runner with handles sending sent by local users.
And a listener daemon with listens for remote connections.
If you want to be able to send mails but not have sendmail listening, you have a couple of options.
You can either run only the local queue runner and not run the listener. In this case you have to configure the local queue runner to send mails onto a external mail host for processing. This requires editing /etc/mail/submit.cf
Alternately, you need to configure the local listener to only bind to the localhost port so it can't be contacted from external sources.
This requires editing sendmail.mc and regenerating a new sendmail.cf
I tend to favour the latter option as the former limits your ability to do things like local aliases of root: [email protected] to send all your root mail to a central account.
This is the sendmail.mc you will need
