Firmware error

Just got a replacement mini back. Previous one stopped adding music after 3 months and said firmware error. Hooked this new one up. Went to 2005-06-26 and hit restore to convert the mini over to PC format. Update gives me "Firmware update failure. Disk write error" and mini is now at Folder! Tried reset with the hold-menu-select method and it lets me try to restore again, but gives the same old error when I do. DOn't even have the plastic off this one. Is it a return to Apple?

No, Not Yet David.

  • Ios5 upgrade fails with firmware error on my iPAD (original) - how can I fix this or return to ios 4?

I was offerered ios5 on my perfectly working iPAD yesterday - it failed and left the iPAD unusable
Failure occurs during the restoring: iPAD firmware - error is 1 unknown (log below), I'm using iTunes on Windows 7 and have tried iTunes on Vista - don't have a Mac to try.
Tried all suggestions on Apple support pages and completely different PC, sometimes get some USB errors but log below is most common issue.
Any suggestions - iPAD is now useless as stuck in recovery mode.

Just to conclude, and give hope for any still suffering, I succesfully upgraded my iPAD to ios5 yesterday evening.
I did have a conversation with Apple support a couple of days agao, in line with many others I was given various reasons why things oustide the Apple environment might be the root cause such as
    - ports blocked on the network I was using (although when I asked which ones they weren't certain - "80 and 442 we think" was the response
    - a fault on the iPAD
    - slow network connection
The more interesting part of teh conversation was Apple was that the firmware update part of the install actually involves quite a lot of interaction with apple servers. My conclusion would be that the well documented performance problems in the early days after ios5 release were the root cause of my problem - reference to network ports. iPAD faults were just a smokescreen.
My key learning - don't upgrade soon after a major release, I already knew this but when offered an update I didn't go back and check precisley when it had been released so I should have paid more attention :-)

  • Firmware Error, help please?

Well... I bought my mini in July. It was working fine until the other day when I connected it to the computer to update the songs. It suddenly had the folder and sad ipod error. I tried to restore it and it had the error, "Firmware error, cannot write to disk." I tried putting it in Disk Mode, it worked but I still can't update it. I can't start it either, I'm not sure if I should send it in or not.

Apparently, it sounds like there's a problem with your iPod's hard disk; honestly, I don't think there's anything at home you can do about it.
    Send it in.

I've had a similar problem.. Whenever I turn mine on now I just get a firmware error, so I've been looking for a firmware update so I can try and update my MuVo^2 FM but I can't find anything relating to this product anywhere.
Product support just said to update it with the firmware ... but I asked where to find it and they neglected to give me any information on file names and whereabouts
I've had to go back to using my discman. I spent $400 on this thing, I've had it two weeks, and now I can't use it

  • Help: MuVo² 5 GB firmware error and connection proble

Thanks in advance to everybody reading this. I've searched through the forums for two hours and have not found a solution.
When started, my girlfriend's Muvo? 5 GB player only shows "firmware error" and switches to recovery mode. So I tried "Scan Disk", "Clean Up", "Format All" rebooting between each step. Nothing changed, so I downloaded the firmware "Creative MuVo? FM Firmware version .00.02". I could not find the exact firmware for the 5 GB player and read in the forum, that this version should work. When I chose "Reload Firmware" and attached the player via USB after I had been told to do so, my computer recognized the player. However when I tried to run the .exe file the setup told me "Your player is not connected, please connect your player."
I've tried it on four different computers and the same message keeps popping up. I'd be really grateful if anybody could help me out on this one. Thanks in advance.

    luis bustamante-
    Greetings and welcome.
Pull out both of those cards and see if you can boot.
It is most likely one of them or an externally connected peripheral.

  • Zen Micro with "firmware error". Seeking resuscitation advi

I've posted in several threads as my Zen Micro's health deteriorated and got no advice yet. Hope this time someone figures out what can I do.
I've got a Zen Micro, using it with Windows XP SP2 with WMP 0.
Firmware on player was 2..02 . I started having issues when syncing, it would hang and not finish the session, with the device screen on the "do not disconnect" signal. Read the forum and followed an advice to "upgrade" firmware.
Tried to reload firmware, but the process hanged at the "erasing firmware" screen for a long long time. I disconnected the player. After that, the device won't boot. It goes to the recovery screen after a "firmware error" sign.
If I try to re-upgrade with 2..02 firmware using the PC, the progress advances but at some point it says "firmware upgrade failed".
Tried to roll-back to . firmware. It goes through. It says (showing 2 blue squares of progress) "format completed successfully" then the progress stops and the player remain with the "do not disconnect" signal for a long long time (30 minutes, hour, forever?).
I tried to roll-back to .0 firmware. Message says "please install latest jukebox driver that support your player". I did, but the message stays.
Anyone knows what can I do to load a firmware succesfully?Message Edited by raft on -7-20062:56 PM

    Dear Creative!
You screwed the upgrade program a bit, because it is works ONLY IN ENGLISH version on Windows XP. Shame! You are pushing me into the sea of warez...

  • My Vision M has a "Firmware Error&quo

Whenever I turn it on, it goes straight to the recovery page after saying "Firmware Error". I'm thinking I should upload the firmware, but I'm not sure how to do that. If anyone knows, would you mind explaining please?
    Thanks.

Hi there if you follow these instructions you should hopefully be able to update your firmware.
Click Support, this is found near the top of the page on the Orange toolbar
    Click on auto update
You will now need to plug you player into your computer
Finally follow the on screen instructions and they will take you through until you have a choice of updates for your mp3 player, primarily look for the firmware upgrade and get that however when I upgraded my firmware I noticed a couple of other useful programmes so upgraded them at the same time.
There are some clearer instructions in this thread I have left as another solution
Zen Vision M and Windows Media Player Solution
If you copy the above text into the search bar of the discussion forums page you should be lead to it.
    Hope this helps
Please reply and let me know how it goes

  • All the music is gone from my iPod & I keep getting firmware error messages

I left my iPod (iPod Classic, 80GB, purchased May 08, I believe it's the current generation) to charge overnight and this morning I wanted to sync it up to get some podcasts that had downloaded overnight. After I did the sync, I ejected the iPod and removed it. When I removed it, everything was gone from the iPod. No music, no podcasts, nothing. I plugged it back in and got this message:
-iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod "Sven". Go to the Summary tab in iPod preferences and click Restore to restore this iPod to factory settings.-
(Sven is the name of my iPod)
So I tried to restore it and iTunes said it needed to download the firmware. So I downloaded the firmware and the firmware did not install. (I didn't write down the error message.)
I ejected, plugged back in and tried again. Now, when I plug in the iPod I get the error message from above ("iTunes cannot read...") and when I click restore, I get the following message:
-The iPod "iPod" could not be restored because the firmware file could not be found.-
I've tried this a few times. Does anyone know of anything that can be done? I am still under warranty, but the closest store is about 50 miles away and I'd like to fix this on my own if I can!
Thanks in advance for any help
