Firmware not compatible error

Ive been trying to update my iPhone 4 OS. To 5
It is 4.3.3 now
Each time I've tried, I get the error that my firmware is not compatible.
I've tried to restore---- first-- same error code
Deleted preferences on my computer (pc) and tried again----- same error
I just wanna update.... Any ideas??

I also deleted my itunes preferences.

Nice that there is a place that I can ask questions.
I had a 7th gen 160gb ipod (silver) that was toast (dropped in juice) so I saved the hard disc.
A opportunity came by so I tried it in a 120gb ipod. (silver) it worked and showed 127.81GB after restore.
Now I put the same disc in a 7th gen 160gb and it does not work.
In MAC OS10.5.8 it need to be restored (it cannot read the ipod) , but can't finish restore because the firm ware is not compatible.
Now this is strange cause I put a mp3-song on the hard disc and it is readable and playable with an mp3 player.
Also in MAC when the ipod is found, it shows on the desktop, if I am fast and open it, it shows a SILVER ipod, info shows CAP 127.81GB
In Windows (bootcamp) before the restore the apple website comes up that this is a 120GB ipod running 2.0.1.
If I do the resore I get the same error "ipod "ipod" could not be restored because the firmware in not compatible.
I downloaded the firmware 2.0.4. IPSW but same error. I wonder if it even tries. I hold option and open the file and the error shows.
Also in MAC when the ipod is found, it shows on the desktop, if I am fast and open it, it shows a SILVER ipod.
So can I NOT put a working disc out a silver ipod in a black ipod (same toshiba MK1634GAL)
I really wonder where the firm ware is stored.
I simply like to learn and solve this problem.

The only way to install a firmware on your iPod Touch is if it's signed by Apple, and now that iOS4 is out for your device, and they have stopped supporting OS v3.1.x so I don't think you can get a signed IPSW now, unless you have a backup...

Why is my ipod touch saying "backup corrupt or not compatible" error message?

My iPod touch has been fine for years and I only really add new music sporadically. Now I am getting an error message saying that it cannot back up my iPod because it is corrupt or not compatible with the iPod. I have already done a factory reset and it still has not fixed the issue.

Did you try deleting the existing backup?
iTunes>Preferences>Devices and select that backup and click on Delete?

I have tried exporting from both my apex.oracle.com workspace and the version of apex I have on a local machine (Application Express 2.2.1.00.04). I get the same results in both cases when I try to import into an Oracle Express Edition on another local machine.
I understand from other forum posts that the issue is probably incompatibility between my Apex and XE. What I need to know is how do I get past this? What is the fix? Upgrade XE? a special export process? Rebuild the application in XE manually? (OUCH!)
Any insights are appreciated.

KarenYou are probably using a 2.2 specific feature that XE is finding. You may need to go through app you are exporting and see what you are using..

How are you trying to update? Did you EVER hack the phone to downgrade the iOS or jailbreak?

My iOS 4.2.1 firmware not compatible to upgrade? Why is that?

I am trying to update using an external ipsw because itunes won't show me the updates, it says 4.2.1 is the latest update and would'nt let me update to any other version. Now, when i Option+Click on Restore or on Find update it says that my firmware is not compatible, so it won't let me update.
What can i do?
Lion is updated so is iTunes.

iPhone 3G ( that's what you have if your latest firmware is 4.2.1 ) is not compatible with iOS5.
If you had a 3GS, your last firmware before 5.0 would have been 4.3.5 .
What what about "external firmware" ?? itunes is the only way to make sure to load the correct firmware. It searches for the correct one on Apple's servers and will tell you once it has one for you. If Itunes says you can't have iOS5 then most probably this is correct and due to the fact that you have a 3G, not a 3GS.
Do you want to brick your phone by risking to load incompatible OS onto it ?

Getting "file not compatible" error on my Samsung Galaxy

I have just recently got the lastest version of Adobe Photoshop and when I try to install it on my samsung galaxy it just says that this file is not compatible, anyone got any ideas how to resolve this problem

I suppose you are using the Samsung Galaxy Tab.
Normally if you can install it over the Market Web interface it should be compatible - you shouldn't even be able to see it in the Market app unless you are compatible.
Do you get the error from the Market application or when trying to start the application - i.e. does the application exist on your device?
It would also be good to know the exact model number as well as language you're using and what country your in.
What you could try out would be to clear the Market cache and then retry the install.

CS5 file is not compatible error

Hi, I'm sick of my computer problems...
So I'm trying to make an animation, I'm using about 4 or more video layers in order to do so, and I noticed this issue.
I save my file, and then try to reopen it and it gives me this error.
Why? Should this not be fixed? Or how can I fix it? I would really appreciate it because I have a deadline ^_^
I also tested it, I tried remaking the same thing, saved it as a different file name and kept the same one open, I try to open the saved file into photoshop and gives me the same issue.
- I also checked my HDD with checkdisk, no errors, what do you know
- I can also see the image clearly in Adobe Bridge, hello file I can't open.
- I tried to open the file on CS4 32-bit on my other computer, and guess what, it works fine and opened fine without issue. Why?

I work in the 32bit version, but I have both versions installed (32 and 64 bit) I feel more comfortable working in 32 bit, the files will not open in64 bit either.

1) Make sure you installed all the updates for Photoshop CS5. The current version is 12.0.4.
My guess is that you are still on 12.0.0.
2) Check your disk for problems/corruption.

IPhone's own dock generating "not compatible" error

Ok, we've all seen the "this accessory is not compatible... would you like to switch to airplane mode" error. But now the iPhone dock itself is generating this error. It's plugged into my Mac Mini and seems to sync ok, but the error keeps coming up and it's annoying. Anyone else have this problem? Is there a solution?

Not sure, but I think it has to do with the phone not being seated correctly on the base. Maybe try without the base?

Ace Software is not compatible error

I am using the the ace32.dll for address validation from within a VB6 app. We are in the process of upgrading to version 8. We have created a new folder a put all of the updated .dir files and other support files in. I put the new version of the ace32.dll in the system32 directory overwriting the previous version. When I try to run the VB app I now get an error that says the "ace32.dll can not be found". If I put back the previous version of the ace32.dll I get an error that says "ace software is not compatible with the version of your intalled directories". I would appreciate any ideas you might have as to what I am missing.

Why does the Latest update for iOS 7 say firmware not compatible

Hi,
I have tried updating my daughters iPad mini (original not retina) with latest update. I have it connected to the mac via iTunes and it downloads the update ok. When it tries to install it it says the firmware is not compatible. It is a wifi only model. I have updated 4 iPhones, 1 identical iPad mini and my iPad 2 with no problems. Can anyone help?

Are you running a version of iTunes earlier than 10.6?
Is your phone jailbroken?
Either one of those will prevent updating due to firmware issues

If you restore your iPhone to its factory settings the iOS5 update should work. This is what I had to do on my iPad Becuase I had the same problem - I had tried everything else - if you restore it to factory settings you can still get all of your apps and settings back if you go into iTunes and press restore or sync in the settings page for your iPhone. I know it's a bit of a Polava but it's the only way that works - and you can still get all of your apps back. - should take roughly 10 - 15 minutes. I hope this answer helps. Kind regards, ellisb51
