Firmware updates unavailable for most product code...

Hi,
it's over a month now that Nokia has released the latest 40.x.x firmware for its 5800 model, or should I say to a small, privilleged amount of customers? I have purchased a Nokia 5800 via Amazon.de, totally unbranded, product code is 0578314, and up to now, the new firmware is unavailable. Why does it take so long for the firmware to become available at least for the unbranded country versions? Technically, there seems to be no problem at all, since many users simply change their product code and install the new firmware, but I am asking here for an official way to get the new firmware in time. The massive delay in firmware updates for different product codes is simply a pain for us paying customers who want the latest features available.

Actually, Nokia already is using a similar system. If your phone is unbranded, you still have to consider if its a Regional or Country Variant (similar to the SE phones, and the China versions I stated above). There are basically two types of unbranded handsets: regional generic and country variants.

This fact is not clearly obvious when you buy a phone, so how does a customer know if he gets a CV (copuntry variant) or any other type of phone before buying? When I bought my unbranded 5800XM, I was still thinking that I get a perfect, free phone, and that firmwareupdates can be applied when available. It was absolutely not apparent to me that I would have to wait three months or so, before I can upgrade my phone to a new firmware, once it becomes available

hi guys i lost my nokia dta cableand would like to update over fota but everytime i try it keeps saying version 11. is the newest..
my product code is 0572869 was wondeing is it out on fota?

it has been out for a while, for other product codes, perhaps not yours yet or do you have a branded/locked phone to the network? that might be the reason why you can't update. if your phone is unlocked unbranded then it is a matter of time for your product code to receive the update. i updated mine few weeks ago with no issues.

  • Still no firmware update available for E71 RM-346

    Hi,
According to Nokia (http://europe.nokia.com/A4577225), there should be a firmware update available for the E71 (update from version 100.07.76 to 110.07.127.
I checked my product code (0569803) on http://europe.nokia.com/A4577224 "Can I update my Nokia device software?" and it tells me, that there is no update available:
"Latest available software for Nokia E71, product code 0569803
Version: 100.07.76" (> same firmware version which I currently have on my phone.)
Does anybody know, when there will be a firmware update available for the E71 with product code 0569803?
    Thanks!

  • Firmware update available for 6230?

    Hi,
new to this so sorry if its all been said before.
I have a 6230 that I am loathe to get rid of, its a good phone, I wondered if there was a firmware update available for my current phone and how much Nokia charge for updating it as it is out of warranty.
Any help/advice would be most appreciated.
    Current Nokia software version:
    V 05.24
    25-11-04
    RH-12
    GSM P1.1
    C

The issues with the 6233 in a carkit are well publicised within these forums, I'll just give you a brief rundown.
No 'lights on always' option, some say this is because of some EU directive, however it is rumoured that the 6233 is prone to screen burn. Either way it's a downright danger at night because your eyes down have time to adjust to the brightness when someone calls you or if you chose to make a call.
You cannot record your own voicetags, an automatic voicetag system is in place for all contacts meaning for example instead of recording your own tag for the contact 'John A Mobile' as 'John', you'll have to say 'John A Mobile' and hope the 6233 understands you and doesn't either give you a list or pick the wrong contact altogether.
Key 2 is now reserved for the video mailbox, so you cannot assign it as a speed dial key.
Ring/Alert tones set at level 5 (maximum) do not ringout at full blast at first, they ascend. Not really an issue with a carkit, just annoys me as I can barely hear the SMS tone.
Apart from all the above, I find the 6233 really good for texting and as a 3g bluetooth modem.
If I had the choice again I'd either stick with the 6230 or put the money towards an offline 6230i for the slightly larger screen and because you don't have to change the cradle.

  • Why no new firmware for E71 (product code:0569371)

Now, normally I would not care but over the last couple of months everyone keeps blogging about the new firmware for their E71.
I have paid a full price for mine in the US (Newegg) so that I would not be constrained by some provider limitations.
Well, now I find out that everyone else in the world, including the US, but that one product code (0569371) has received their updates, some even two and I am still stuck on the original 1.0 release.
Can anyone one over there at Nokia explains this to me like a 4-year-old, why does Nokia punishes owners of this particular product?

Having exchanged a few polite emails with NA Nokia devission I got this today:
"Nokia is consistently working to improve our product services and realizes the software update is important to you. I regret to inform you, that I do not have a release date for the firmware update to your Nokia E71 device. Please continue to monitor the Nokia Software Updater (NSU) for updates for your device. "
So, I have decided to go on a mission to provide potential North America buyers of the Nokia phones sold in US about the support they can expect. Do I think this will help? I doubt it, but what else can I do? Class action suite?

  • Software update for my Product Code

I guess my product code is 0596011 but I'm not very sure. When are you gonna release the 52.0.007 firmware for my phone? I need to know if releasing will take days, weeks, months or years, because I can't wait. Thank you .

Have a look here.. for how to search your Product Code.. and also to check whether update is available or not..

BTW this is a User-to-User forum.. so if currently there is no update available then no one on this forum can tell you with any authority.. when that will be.. You will have to wait.. and keep on checking...

  • Belle Update for N8 Product code 059D7G5

    Hi,
I was hoping to get belle update for my N8 in Ghana but since the release of the update, I have consistently checked with Nokia suite for the update but I always get no update available. Yesterday, I got an update notification only to realise that it is a service pack 1 for symbian anna.
I have gone through the list of product codes and do not find my product code in the list.
    I know I have a genuine Nokia N8, T-Mobile branded.
I had the anna updatte the first time I connected the phone to Nokia Suite and was hoping to to get the belle update this time.
I was wondering if my product code is getting the belle update or if there is something I may have done that is preventing me from getting the update.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Post in the relevant thread in the Software Updates section, you have a much greater chance of getting a sensible reply there.

  • N97 v.21.0.045 in UK ((for some product codes))

I found today that there's update v.21.0.45 for product code :
    0591861 RM-505 BLACK
so i checked the Internet and found that it's available too for product code:
    0591721 RM-505 WHITE
so now i have both my N97 (( MENA version and CV UK version )) with v.21 .... yuppy!!
-you can show appreciation to my posts if it helped or useful by pressing the green Kudo star beside my post that hepled
-if my answer was the solution , so click accept as solution button
    Started From Nokia 3310 , Now with Nokia N97 v.22.0.110 + N900 PR1.2

Be aware that those are not the codes for the standard (most popular) UK models. The update for these two codes has been available for over a week.
They are for the "comes with music" version of the N97 that very few people have, in fact i've not seen it on sale anywhere on the high street yet.
Most people in the UK (with unbranded phones) either have the 0585162 (black UK CV), the 0587240 (white UK CV) or the 0587691 (CPW UK GB Black) codes.
What is more annoying is that this firmware is no different from the standard UK CV firmware.
Any UK users that are unhappy about this please post on this thread:

  • Check if you can update by using your product code

    http://www.nokia.co.uk/support/product-support/device-software-update/can-i-update
Blank_Reg posted this in another thread and I thought I'd share it. I dont know if this only works with UK codes or not.
Also if ther is a letter in your product code then be sure to enter it in upper case.
I hope this helps a few of you

If you try to update using device SW update you will get any updates commensurate with existing unbranded firmware, but not if you use Ovi Suite which will read original network branded product code which is "burnt" into chip and deliver software accordingly.
That's very interesting. I would never thought product code was burnt into the chip. I'll try the OTA option once the latest firmware becomes available;that's only after I read about everyone else's experiences first. I do understand it's desirable to do the full firmware update through OVI suite, but does it really make that much of a difference? Would OVI suite for all intents be flashing the phone, whereas OTA only updates the necessary files? Once you update OTA,can you then go and reinstall the full version through OVI suite?

  • Will Orange Approve V.40 for 5800 Product Code 057...

I was wondering whether I should ring orange or take my Phone which I bought from the Carphone Warehouse back for a new Red 5800 that can update to V.40?
I am terribly fed up of waiting & the fact that i get no straight or good answer from a technical support guy from orange, you can get more bytes of goodness out of a spoon.
    What say you people?
Computers must be male. As soon as you commit to one you realize that if you had waited a little longer, you could have obtained a better model. In order to get their attention, you have to turn them on. Big power surges knock them out for the rest of the day.

If you bought it from CPW then you most likely have the CPW version, not the orange version.
CPW have their own product codes so they are the only people that can say when the update will happen. The staff behind the counter will be absolutely clueless about it and blame nokia or orange.
It's just a case of waiting unfortunately.

  • BELL UPDATE UNAVAILABLE FOR NOKIA X7 France CV Lig...

hi,I bought the X7 from France and now when i try to update it says my phone is updated how can i update to symbian belle,my current os is symbian anna, software 021.013,PRODUCT CODE 059K180,type RM-707.i hope you can help me soon

    Hi mate,
Your phone may not show the Belle update because of two reasons. Either your phone is branded (e.g. Vodafone, and has their own customisations / wallpapers / apps etc), or is a country variant (where Nokia provides the Belle firmware to them, but it is up to your region's Nokia whether they want to release the update to you or not, with their own customisations).
If yours sounds like a branded variant, i would contact your network operator for possible availability of the Belle update....if it is a country variant, contact your local Nokia Care and ask them: http://nokia.com/support

  • PR 1.3 availability for N9 product code 059N151?

    Hi there,
I recently purchased a 64GB white N9 with this product code (Vietnam).  I wanted to ask if anyone has an idea when  the PR 1.3 update might be released for it, or more importantly, if it won't be getting an update?  It came with PR 1.2 installed.
Also, I'm interested in hearing from anyone else owing an unlocked/unbranded N9 who has not received the update yet.
    Thanks!

Thanks for the reply.  The way this realase was announced on the various blogs makes it seem like it was going to be puhed out to all N9's very quickly and now finding this is not necessarily the case.
I got a partial answer to my second question as a neighbor of mine has an Austraila variant (a black 16GB version with product code 059L968) and is also waiting for the update.  Given there are phones other than the white Vietnam version still pending, I'm planning to wait for a while.
While the PR 1.3 notice would be nice, I'm still getting to know this phone. I haven't run into anything I want to do with it yet requiring the 1.3 version and prefer not to risk a botched flashing attempt to have it today.
It would still be nice to know it's coming to this phone and a some idea of when.
