Fit to fill in CC

I notice that in PrPro 7.2.2. or at least my current project, the dialogue that used to come up when doing a four point edit, does not anymore.  I can't do a fit to fill.
Dennis

The prefs file for CC (7.x) is saved in Documents/Adobe/Premiere Pro/7.0/Profile-<username>.
You can clear the prefs by holding down the following keys while launching Premiere Pro:
Mac: press Shift+Option
PC: press Shift+Alt
Edited to add: But you don't need to trash the prefs to get the dialog back. Instead, on the General tab of the Preferences dialog, make sure the "Fit Clip dialog opens for edit range mismatches" is checked. Screenshot courtesy of Jeff Bellune here: Re: Ignore Source Out Point

  • Fit to fill edits not working correctly

When I do a fit to fill edit about 2/3 of the clip is slowed or speeded as required then it stops with the last 1/3 taken up by a freeze frame based on the frame where the clip has stopped. Any ideas?
    Thanks Henry

Thanks for writing back. I think I am begining to get it! It is about using files that have a coherrent set of characteristics for the editor to work with. I have now actually managed to make some pal files function on fit to fill properly. The clips that I am working with were originaly recorded with these characteristics:
File type: AVI. Recorded with NSTC setting on camera. 30fps. 1.3mb/s pixel aspect square. Field dominance none. Alpha None / ignore.Composite normal. Audio 1 mono. Audio rate 8.0 Khz.Audio format 32 bit floating point. (I do not want to use the audio.)
Can you please tell me what is the best FCE setup for this type of file and or what does the file need to become to work well in the FCE envronment.
Whilst the FCE handbook is very good about how to do things in the program it is vague about what filetypes function well. I feel like I have been blundering around in the dark.
    Best Henry

  • Fit to fill with 1 frame length subclips

I have 93 single frame subclips that i need to fill 3 second length slugs with.
when i use fit to fill it only fills the first frame of each slug but not the entire slug.
Or how do I make the single frame subclips stretch to 3 second length clips

Ok I time remapped all 93 clips to 3 seconds and then fit to fill worked like a charm... anyway to time remap multiple clips at the same time?

  • Fit to Fill ????

Can someone please tell me where Fit To Fill is in FCP X? I have looked all over this thing and i cannot find it.
I am ready to ask for a refund too. There are just to many things missing... Please do not tell me this is missing.
Or tell me the new way you can do "fit to fill", So if you make your in/out points in your audio on timeline, then you make your in/out points on your video, how can you get the video in/out to match the audio in/out.... am i just missing something?

Well, it kinda works but it doesn't.
It does put it in the frame, but it does not work like Fit to Fill as it does not automatically do Timestreatching...
So, if i am doing a video remix, and the audio is faster then the original, i need the in/out points on the video to match the in/out points on the audio. In FCP7, it would do the timestretching for you.
The method they had in the video of the 3 point edit is great if it would just do time stretching automatically.....i will keep playing around to see if i can get it to work

  • Fit to fill with multiple clips

Created a short stop frame animation sequence, but now I want to use "fit to fill" to have it work with the audio. When I try to use "fit to fill" I get invalid edit. So then I tried copying the sequence, putting in the timeline and used shiftZ. Still not working. Any suggestions?

Fit To Fill is a 4 point edit. This means that you must have an In & Out point set on your timeline, as well as an In & Out Point set on your source clip.

  • Fit to Fill: First time trying, not working

Am working through Weynand's Apple Training Series book for FCP HD (4.5), and stumped on p. 610-611; first time using "Fit to Fill" but not working - neither the section in the Edit Overlay, the green edit button in the Canvas, nor the Shift-F11 (which makes all the screens disperse). I get this prompt: "Edit operation had no effect. Check the target tracks. You may need to open the Source clip into the viewer [already done] in order to see all the target tracks." Something in my settings? Thanks in advance.

Resolved. I had to connect the Source and Destination buttons. There hadn't been a reminder in the textbook.

  • Fit to Fill not working with HD footage in a DV Pal timeline...

I'm editing some HD anamorphic footage (Apple Intermediate Codec, 1440x1080, 29.97fps) into a DV Pal timeline (720x576, 25fps).
When I try to use Fit to Fill to change the speed of the footage and make it fit an exact part of the soundtrack, I either get a still frame after rendering, or completely the wrong part of the clip (ie not the part I selected using In and Out in the Browser), and with no speed change.
The same thing happens if I try using Apple-J to change the speed...
Does anybody have an idea what I'm getting wrong? I'm in FCE HD 3.5.1
    Thankyou!

I suspect there's a problem with the frame rate mixing. I'd suggest using Nattress standards conversion software to convert one to whatever frame rate you want to work in. FCE should not be used for standards conversion.

  • Fit to fill audio into video clip

I've edited a "training video" for a german company. The video has an english voiceover on how to do each step in the training module.
Now I've recorded the German voiceover.
is there an easy way to "fit to fill" the german to the appropriate video clips?
I've recorded each audio clip in sections. For example: scene 1 audio for scene 1 video.

I'd think it's best to adjust the video accordingly... If you change the speed of the playback of audio, it will change pitch, unless you use SoundTrack Pro for the job. Seems to me to be easier to adjust the video...

  • Slo-mo, fit to fill and reverses

    Hi
FCP is great until i try and reverse slo-mo or fit to fill a shot then I get terrible shudder on the shots, it was suggested that I try motion , I dont really know motion so how do I do that and is it better than FCP?
    Tx in advance

I think, perhaps, you don't have the latest version of the software as there is a recent update that specifically addresses this issue.
I really think you need to read the manual about using Optical flow, as it's a process.
Further, you should get decent speed changes in FCP. What are your timeline specs? What speed changes are you looking to achieve?

  • Doing Fit to fill edit. it is only fitting the audio?

any reason why when I do a fit to fill edit it only brings the audio into the time line? is there some setting I am missing?

Do you have the video track selected and connected (left side of timeline).

  • Fit to Fill probs

Hi - I'm sure this is a basic problem, probably to do with the souce clip, but I'm a bit stuck with fit to fill.
I double click my clip in the timeline, having marked my relevant in and out points, but as soon as I try to drag the clip from the viewer to the canvas, rather than get the edit options, the clip in the canvas also moves across.
What am I doing wrong here?
    Thanks...
    Dave

You shouldn't double-click on the clip in the timeline... this brings it to the viewer, sure, but it keeps a direct link, so any moving of IN and OUT points actually affects the clip on the timeline immediatly.
Rather than double-clicking, place the playhead on the clip you want to alter, and press F (match frame) this brings the clip (with the IN and OUT points marked) into the viewer, but it references the master clip in the browser, not the clip on the timeline. You can then alter the IN and OUTs, and hopefully get the result you require.

  • Fit to Fill Help

Every time I edit a .tiff image file into my timeline(set in and out points in my timeline, and a in point on my tiff and overwrite edit it to the timeline) , I get the following warning "Fit Clip: the source is shorter than the destination, Change Clip Speed (fit to Fill) Ignore in point, ignore out point)  I have to click change clip speed and then click OK every time I do this, and I do it alot.  Is there a way to set fit to fill as a default so I don't have this warning pop up every single time I do this?

No, but you can simply drag the TIFF where you want it, then extend it to the desired length.  No need for Ins and Out on this one.

  • Fit or Fill Images in Slideshow

I've actually tried both and the problem still exists.  I have a basic slideshow created with just an image and fade - no navigation, caption or anything else. I had it working just fine, but made a few adjustments and now the images don't all 'fit' properly.  If you look closely at this image, there is a dark gray border around the image area.  The one image (two people in winter) has an even border all around, but the other image is stretched, or fills the 'frame' from side to side with a small border above and below.  How do I get them to fill the same area - preferably the one with the even border all around?

I ended up deleting the slideshow and created a new one and reworked it. I had the 'hero image' (I'm still not sure what that means) a little smaller within the slideshow frame so there was a border around the image and a stroke on the outside frame to set it apart from the rest of the page.  Now I just filled the frame with image with a stroke around the image and no border.  It'll work - not what I originally intended but it will work.  And now that it is working properly I'm not going to change it!
But I do have more slideshows to add so if it happens again I'll send it in.  I don't know that it'll do any good at this point if the problem is persisting.
In fact... I have a feeling it's just me not quite understanding the Hero image and it's relation to the slideshow itself.  Is there any tutorials that get into more detail about slideshows?

  • New zoom-mode between 'fit' and 'fill' (or change 'fit')

At the moment, when Lightroom shows a photo in zoom-mode 'fit', there is some unused space around the photo, which means I don't get the maximum magnification in this mode. I can tell Lightroom to use that free space by setting the zoom-mode to 'fill'. While the 'fill' mode is useful, it hides part of the picture, which I can understand, but most of the time this is not what I want.
I would like to see a new mode implemented that uses as much screenspace as possible without hiding part of it. This would result in a 'fit'-like-view with borders at only two sides instead of four.
    Cheers,
    Alex

That is why I would prefer to see a new mode or a switch to let you and me choose how we would like to see it. You should be able to see photos the way you want (with borders), but I should equally be able to see photos the way I want (without 2 borders).
I think there is no right or wrong in this case, just an opportunity to give us more configurability...
    Cheers,
    Alex

  • Make text fit TextField

    Hi
I'm new at this and do have a major (to me) prob.
I'm using LC Designer ES ver. 8.2.
I want font size to schrink as I type in a TextField, so the text allways fit and fill in a fixed sized TextField with multiline. I know how to make the TextField match the text, but I want it the other way around.
    Going mad soon.

Unfortunately LC doesn't have a simple box for you to type the starting font size.
But LC can accomplish what you want using scripts.
Scripts are not something to delve into if you're new to coding, they'll take some time to learn, and probably not worth the hassle for a small aesthetic issue.
    If you're game, then here's a suggestion:
First you would make the text box pretty small so that the first character isn't too large.
Then the script counts the letters you type in and dynamically resizes the text field, allowing the automatic font feature described above to fill the whole box.
Here's a resource that shows you how to start:
