Flash 2D Bar CHarts suddenly showing Values

Hi,
We have just upgraded to Version 3.1.2 and we have seen a strange change in our Flash Horizontal 2D Column (percent) charts.
The charts used to work fine but now we see Value Text being displayed over the bars. I cannot find anyway of removing these values from display.
We have a Series 1 simple query that counts the number of items where signed_flag = 'Y' and the number of items where signed_flag = 'N'. This therefore shows two stacked bars that total 100%. Everything was fine, but now the charts are showing the text 'Singed Off, 25%' and 'Not Signed Off, 75%' over the bars (and over the labels).
I cannot find a way to hide this text. If I open the Chart Attributes and look at the Display Settings the 'Show Values' check box is empty but grayed out. I cannot change this. I have also tried changing the font settings for every available item and this has no affect either - the text is displayed in the same size/colour etc. whatever I do.
Can anyone help? Is this a 3.1.2 bug or has something changed at macromedia?
All assistance is gratefully received.
Martin

Hi Martin,
Thanks for posting the metalink number. For others that run into the same issue here's MetaLink's Solution:
1. Download and unzip the 3.1 installation medium:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/download.html
2. Find the /apex31/images/flashchart/Stacked2DColumn.swf file.
3. In the directory where the 3.1.1 images reside, find the /images/flashchart/Stacked2DColumn.swf file.
a. Rename the original file (Stacked2DColumn.swf_orig)
b. Replace the 3.1.1 version of <directory name/images/flashchart/Stacked2DColumn.swf with
the 3.1 version of Stacked2DColumn.swf into this directory.

  • Bar chart with hyperlink values in X-Axis in XIR2

    Hi folks,
I am trying to create a bar chart which shows values for 2 measures using one dimension in the X-axis. I want an hyperlink associated with the values in the X-axis because I want to implement the ability of drilling through to another report when I click any of those values. That second report will show information filtered by the value of the dimension I clicked on.
I was reading a bit about it and it looks like it is not possible. The workaround provided was to make a table aside the chart and implement that behaviour in the table, not in the chart.
Anyone of you could confirm this? Any of you has another ideas?
    Thanks a million
    J. Russell

    Hi Arif,
That is one of the work-arounds I have in mind.
    Thanks for your answer

  • Stacked bar chart with negative values

    Hi,
trying to create a stacked bar chart I only get a grey picture. Reason: my data series provides positive and negative values.
Can anyone tell me a trick how to fix this problem?

    User614143,
try to add the minumm negative value (but positive) to the parameter for the axis.
e.g. show value+3000 (assuming -3000 is the minimum value)
If you don't have a limitation for the negative values, it doesn't work. (or try to calculate first the most negative value in a before header process)
    hope this helps.

  • Stacked bar chart to show vertically

I want to show stacked bar chart vertically.
    Requirement is
    Mat1 - WIP Qty 14, Inv 20, Finished 22
    Mat2 - WIP Qty 16, Inv 10, Finished 18
We want to display chart where Material will be displayed on Y-axis and diffrent Qty will be shown as one bar for each material stacked like stacked bar starting from left to right.
We did this using stacked bar but in that case the material will be displayed on X-axis and bar is showing from bottom to top. Is there any way we can rotate this chart by 90 degree?
    Nilesh Modi

    Hi Nilesh,
I do not believe that there is an out-of-the-box feature that would suffice your needs.
However, the work-around is relatively simple, although it needs a bit of coding.
If you are sourcing the image directly, the image could be refreshed using Javascript settimeout function.  If you are sourcing the location of the image from an iCommand, you could use the update event of the applet.
Besides ... if everything was too easy, there would be no need for you and I
    Cheers,
    Jai.

I don't see any Flash code in your link.
You do realize that Flash Menus are not web & user friendly, right?  They are invisible to non-flash supporting devices like iPhones/iPads, language translators, screen readers and search engines. When people without Flash land on your page, what will they do?
The best advice I can offer is to ditch flash for navigation and use CSS styled text or the Spry Menus that come with DW.

  • Had a hard time setting up a bar chart with date value

Just wanted to achieve this simple chart with a date value instead of text string or numbers, which is quite simple to achieve in Excel see screenshot.
With flex 4, here's my code snippet, what do I missed? Please give me a hand, thanks  alot.
      [Bindable]
private var scheduledata:ArrayList = new ArrayList([
        {name: "ward1", meeting: "1/1/2008", seminar: "8/12/2008"},

        {name: "ward3", meeting:"3/1/2011",  seminar: "10/30/2011"}
      <mx:BarChart id="bar" height="100%"

        <mx:BarSeries yField="name" xField="seminar" displayName="seminar"/>
       </mx:series>
      </mx:BarChart>

Thank you all for those who tried to help. I figured it out by picking it up from (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flex/using/WS2db454920e96a9e51e63e3d11c0bf65a29-7ffb.html). Just need to add a DateTimeAxis to it! Though there's bug to it that the datetimeaxis format will only display mm/yy regardless you chose Days, Weeks or Months. Somehow I will need to tackle that.
    <mx:horizontalAxis>
    <mx:DateTimeAxis dataUnits="Days""/>

  • Showing 0 value in vertical bar chart

    Hi,
is it possible to show the 0 value in a bar chart using Show data labels "Always"? By default it is suppressed.
Zero is a success value in quality reporting and my clients want it to be visible, so they do not confuse it with "no data delivered". Is there any way to highlight Zeros in a bar chart?
    Mny thx Thomas

We had the same issue and used a work around. Use case when value = 0 then 'Some value of choice' and it will be seen on the chart.
Let the client know that 'Some value of choice' on the chart means 0. Sounds ridiculuos, but we did not find any other alternative.

  • Flash Bar Chart Customization

I am trying to get a flash bar chart that shows multiple bars on a single row. The X Axis is time, so basically I want to show that something happens from 10am until 12am, and then something else happens from 3pm until 5pm. But I want them both on the same row. They cannot be stacked, because there will always be gaps.
I looked in the Anychart documentation, and it appears that the attribute point_padding should address this problem, merely by giving it a value of -1 (because it is a percentage). But that has no impact. I tried adding it to the chart node, the block node, the set node, still nothing.
I am trying to do this with a 2D Horizontal Range chart.
My questions: Does Apex's chart plug-in not include some standard functionality from Anychart? Or is this perhaps an older version and is that attribute not supported? And is there anyplace where I can see what is included in the version Oracle distributes? Or failing that, does anyone have a better suggestion for how to do this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Michael

If you are using Apex version 3, it uses Anychart version 3.
    If you want to use the custom XML option on your chart you need to know the XML spec. If you look on the Anychart website, their documentation is for Anychart version 4 and will not work! Check out the version 3 documentation at;

  • Stacked 100% bar chart - Problem with datatips for zero value data points

I have a stacked 100% bar chart that shows datatips in Flex 4.   However, I don't want it to show datatips for
data points with zero values.   Flex 4 shows the datatip for a zero value data point on the left side of a bar if the data point is not the first in the series.
Here's the code that illustrates this problem.    Of particular concern is the July bar.    Because of the zero value data point problem, it's not possible to see the datatip for "aaa".
Any ideas on how we can hide/remove the datatips for zero value data points ?        Thanks.

  • Apex flash charts with date values on the x axis

I am playing around in Apex 4 using flash charts and having a bit of troubles playing with dates on the x axis on a 2d line chart.
What I am trying to achive is a values plotted across the chart and the date/time values are not a constent (ie not continually say 1 hour apart) hence why I want to use a datatype of date.
    In the SQL below:
select null as link,  sysdate -2  as value, 0 as label from dual
    union
    select null , sysdate -2+1/24 , 1 from dual
    union
    select null , sysdate -2+2/24 , 2 from dual
    union
select null , sysdate -2+5/48, 1 from dual
    union
select null , sysdate -2+3/24, 0 from dual;I get a 2D Line chart but each date/time value is equally space apart (ie sysdate -2, sysdate -2+1/24, sysdate -2+2/24 and sysdate -2+3/24 should be 1 unit apart and sysdate -2+5/48 should be half way between sysdate -2+2/24 and sysdate -2+3/24).
I think I have to use custom xml. Using http://www.anychart.com/products/anychart/docs/xmlReference/index.html and http://www.anychart.com/products/anychart/docs/users-guide/DateTime-Axes.html I edited the XML and changed:

Can anyone see what I am doing wrong or point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

This will be a little bit lengthy answer, but I guess it will be easier to understand what I meant to say.
I created a table that contains values you used as a data source (just to make my life easier):
    SQL> alter session set nls_date_format = 'dd.mm.yyyy hh24:mi:ss';
    Session altered.
    SQL> select * from test;
    VALUE                    LABEL
    12.10.2010 09:03:45          0
    12.10.2010 10:03:45          1
    12.10.2010 11:03:45          2
    12.10.2010 11:33:45          1
    12.10.2010 12:03:45          0
    SQL> alter session set nls_date_format = 'hh24:mi';
Session altered. From now on, we'll see only hours and minutes.
Step 1: current and previous values - difference in number of MINUTES
    SQL> select t.value,
      2         lag(t.value) over (order by t.value) previous_value,
      3         (t.value - lag(t.value) over (order by t.value)) * 24 * 60 minutes_diff
      4  from test t;
    VALUE PREVI MINUTES_DIFF
    09:03
    10:03 09:03           60
    11:03 10:03           60
    11:33 11:03           30
    12:03 11:33           30Step 2: a little bit of calculation:
    - TIME_SPAN: how many minutes are there between MIN and MAX date?
    - MIN_DIFF: what is the minimum time difference (minutes)?
    - SLICES: how many time slices do we want on the x-axis?
    SQL> select
      2    min(x.value) min_val,
      3    max(x.value) max_val,
      4    min(x.minutes_diff) min_diff,
      5    (max(x.value) - min(x.value)) * 24 * 60 time_span,
      6    (max(x.value) - min(x.value)) * 24 * 60 / min(x.minutes_diff) slices
      7  from (select t.value,
      8               lag(t.value) over (order by t.value) previous_value,
      9               (t.value - lag(t.value) over (order by t.value)) * 24 * 60 minutes_diff
    10        from test t
    11       ) x;
    MIN_V MAX_V   MIN_DIFF  TIME_SPAN     SLICES
    09:03 12:03         30        180          6There's 180 minutes between 09:03 and 12:03; minimum time difference in our TEST table is 30 minutes, so - we want to have 6 time slices on the x-axis (180 / 30).
Step 3: row generator technique: let's create time values that are missing:
    SQL> select y.min_val + (level - 1) * y.min_diff / (24 * 60) val
      2  from (select
      3          min(x.value) min_val,
      4          max(x.value) max_val,
      5          min(x.minutes_diff) min_diff,
      6          (max(x.value) - min(x.value)) * 24 * 60 time_span,
      7          (max(x.value) - min(x.value)) * 24 * 60 / min(x.minutes_diff) slices
      8        from (select t.value,
      9                     lag(t.value) over (order by t.value) previous_value,
    10                     (t.value - lag(t.value) over (order by t.value)) * 24 * 60 minutes_diff
    11              from test t
    12             ) x
    13       ) y
    14  connect by level <= y.slices + 1;
    VAL
    09:03
    09:33
    10:03
    10:33
    11:03
    11:33
    12:03
7 rows selected.OK, now we have 30 minutes between every time value.
Step 4: join newly generated time values with the original table. Use OUTER JOIN; missing labels will be 0 (zero):
    SQL> select
      2    null link,
      3    to_char(z.val, 'hh24:mi') new_value,
      4    nvl(t1.label, 0) new_label
      5  from (select y.min_val + (level - 1) * y.min_diff / (24 * 60) val
      6        from (select
      7                min(x.value) min_val,
      8                max(x.value) max_val,
      9                min(x.minutes_diff) min_diff,
    10                (max(x.value) - min(x.value)) * 24 * 60 time_span,
    11                (max(x.value) - min(x.value)) * 24 * 60 / min(x.minutes_diff) slices
    12              from (select t.value,
    13                           lag(t.value) over (order by t.value) previous_value,
    14                           (t.value - lag(t.value) over (order by t.value)) * 24 * 60 minutes_diff
    15                    from test t
    16                   ) x
    17             ) y
    18        connect by level <= y.slices + 1
    19       ) z,
    20       test t1
    21  where t1.value (+) = z.val
    22  order by z.val;
    L NEW_V  NEW_LABEL
      09:03          0
      09:33          0
      10:03          1
      10:33          0
      11:03          2
      11:33          1
      12:03          0
7 rows selected.Cool, so we have them all. Now, go to Apex and create a chart using a query from step #4.
I tested it - it displays something which means that it should work for you too (unfortunately, this forum doesn't accept attachments so that you could see it). Now, I can't tell whether that's what you need or not, but - if the idea itself is OK, it can be adjusted (I hope so).

  • How to create stack bar chart on answers that shows % and counts?

    Hello guys
I currently have a table that have several columns, each column represent one product name, and one column name "units" indicating how each product is sold...
The requirement is to create a chart view with stack bar that shows the percentage of each product''s unit sales.
Now we are discussing whether we should customize the table to consolidate all these product columns into one "product desc" column with all the product names as row in order to fulfill this requirement..
PLease let me know whether this is needed or not... ALso, how would I be able to create stack bar charts that shows the total sales against each product sales in percentage and counts?
Please let me know, I really appreciate it

I tried to do this and was a bit successful. I used the paint catalog. Created a a request with 6 columns assuming units and dollars be stacked and Year ago units to be a line:
    Brand Units Dollars 0 Year_Ago_units 1
Added a new request (Combined with similar request and selected paint subject area): Now in this request my columns are:
    Brand 0 0 Year_Ago_Dollars Year_Ago_units 2
Assuming Year_Ago_Dollars be standard in your case.
Created a chart view with brand and 1 on x axis and Units, Dollars, Year_Ago_Dollars on y axis and line as Year_Ago_units.
Now able to see what I am expecting. May be you need to tweak a bit more according to your requirement.
Let me know if this is of any help!
    Thanks.

  • SSRS - Report Builder 3.0 - Bar Chart

    Hi,
I have Bar chart which shows number of items sold by Month , by year for the last two years
    My Query is something like
Select Count(*) as NumOfItemsSold, Month(SaleDate) As MonthSold, Year(SaleDate)As YearSold From Sales where SaleDate in (DATEPART(Year,GETDATE()), DATEPART(YEAR, GETDATE())-1) GROUP BY Month(SaleDate), Year(SaleDate) Order BY Month(SaleDate), Year(SaleDate)
THe Query works fine except for doesnt return any values for the months there are no sales and thus the bars doesnt show up in the chart. I want the chart to display 0 as Number of items sold and represent an empty space inthe chart. I am not sure how to
    do that.
The Second Question is that I am bleto display the month name Abbreviated By usign the Expression MonthName(Fields!MonthSold.Value , TRUE) and Setting the interval  = 2 so my Chart would start showing values  feb, Apr, Jun etc ...
I want to display the values starting from Jan with interval =2 for example Jan, Mar, May ...  not sure how to achieve that.
Please let me know of any questions .
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Chaitanya

    Hi Chaitanya,
To display the months that has NULL values, modify the Expression in the Values area of the chart to:
    =SUM(IIF(Fields!NumOfItemsSold.Value IS NOTHING, 0, Fields!NumOfItemsSold.Value))
To make the labels on the horizontal axis start with January and an interval of two months, do the following steps (assuming that you have set the expression for category group to =MonthName(Fields!MonthSold.Value)):
    1. Click on the category axis, press F4 to highlight the Properties pane.
    2. Under Interval item, set its properties as follows:
        Interval: 2
        IntervalOffset: 1
        IntervalOffsetType: Number
        IntervalTpe: Number
    3. Under Sale item, set its properties as follows:
        Minimum: 0
        Scalar: True

  • Stacked Bar chart does not overlap series

I have a stacked bar chart with to values "Invoiced" and "Budget" and 2 categories YEAR and MONTH - the problem is that the bar chart shows the values Invoiced and Budget in Top of each other and Not overlapping each other . ex:
NOW:  Invoiced =  200   Budget = 300   - Bar chart shows a column of 500 for the month (NOT correct)
What I want is to show 1 column for each month where up to 200 the colour is green and from 200 to 300 the colour is blue for example....
    How to achieve this ?

    Hi HCMJ,
By default, the bar value will not overlapping each other in stacked bar chart, and we cannot increase or decrease the gap between the series in Reporting Services.
Based on my research, I find a workaround can achieve your requirement, please refer to the steps below:
Create a dataset with the query below (sample data):
    CREATE TABLE #temp(name nvarchar(50),time nvarchar(50),value int)
    INSERT INTO #temp VALUES     ('Invoiced','YEAR',100),('Invoiced','MONTH',200),('Budget','MONTH',300),('Budget','YEAR',600)
    SELECT * FROM  #temp
Insert time field to Category Groups pane, and change the group name to “time”.
Insert value field to Values pane, then change the value to like below:
    =min(Fields!value.Value,"time")
Insert another field with the following expression to Values pane:
    =max(Fields!value.Value,"time")
Change the type of chart from Stacked Bar Chart to Range Bar Chart.
Right-click the Series field to change the Fill color to #9bff8c00 (DarkOrange with 155 Transparency) or any color with Transparency you like. Now we can get the following:
Preview it and get the following result:
If there are any other questions, please feel free to ask.

  • Display ISO week number instead of date on x axis in Bar Chart

    Hi,
I've created a simple SSRS report based on bar chart that shows several milestones. Everything works fine for me except I’m not able to convert the date into ISO week number format.
I played around with different approaches. I was able to convert the date into an ISO week Format directly on the SQL Server. That
    wasn't a problem.
But unfortunately I’m not able to display the week number on the horizontal axis in my Bar Chart. I tried both fields: TaskFinishDate and TaskFinishDateMS...
I would like to show the ISO week number instead of the date within the Bar Chart on the horizontal axis.
    Any ideas/hints/help is really appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
Per my understanding that you want to get the week number of the year based on the field "TaskFinishDate" which is datetime type and display the week number in the x-axis instead of the field "TaskFinishDate", right?
I have check the snapshot you have provided and it seems you have change the format of the datetime field in the x-axis like "dd.MM.YYYY", If you can't make the week number to display correctly in the x-axis, the issue can be caused by you haven't
change the format to Number in the category.
Details information below for you reference:
I assume you have use expression in the Label like below to convert the datatime TaskFinishDate in to ISO week number like below:
    =DatePart(DateInterval.WeekOfYear,Fields!TaskFinishDate.Value)
    or
    =DatePart("ww",Fields!TaskFinishDate.Value)
Right click the X-axis and select the "Horizontal Axis Properties", then click the Number to change the format to "Number" as below:
Preview you will get the weeknumber display in the x-axis correctly.
If you still have any problem, please feel to ask.

  • How to change the format of tooltips in bar chart?

    Hi experts,
I am using the WAD and using the bar chart
    to show the query result.
However, when the mouse hovered on the bar,
a tooptip would appear and show both
charateristics' value and key figures' values(x and y axis).
The requirement is that tooltip should only show the key figures' value and the font should be larger.
Is there anyway to change that tooltip format?

    Dear Habeeb,
Thank you so much for your reply.
I read the website you gave.
Does that mean I can add "tooltip_text" to specify
what should be display on the tooltips of charts?
And how can I assign it with only key figure value?
(or you can say, only column value)
I am quite sorry that I am not very familiar with HTML skill.
Could you please kindly explain a little more about this solution?
Again, thank you so much for your help.
    Regards,
    Wen-Wei
