Flash Catalyst CS5.5 Crashes when importing photoshop document

I am trying to import a photoshop file authored in Photoshop CS5.1 into Flash Catalyst CS5.5, and Flash catalyst crashes every time part way through the import. A few specifics:
Mac OS X 10.6.8
Photoshop CS5.1
Catalyst CS5.5
I have searched this forum for suggestions, and I have tried a number of them:
* Removing layers from the source psd file to find a culprit layer (Removing all but one layer still crashes)
* Running Photoshop in 32 bit mode, dragging the layers to a new document and saving
* Waving chicken bones over my laptop (Nobody really suggested this, for good reason -- it doesn't work)
I have also replicated this crash on other Macintosh computers running the same Catalyst and Photoshop versions.
I have included part of the crash dump below. I've highlighted the section that mentions how many crashes I've had. I am happy to provide .psd files to demonstrate the issue, and troubleshoot any way necessary.
Thank you,
Cameron

Hum. Have you tried a new Photoshop file with say one layer in it and just a fill or something very basic, then importing that in?
This might tell us if it is the PSD that has the issue or the import engine in Catalyst.
You said you removed the layers. So you tried importing each of the layers one by one into Catalyst with success? Then that means you have one layer that is troublesome. I would suspect that there is a filter or effect that has been applied that source of the issue.
Have you read this? http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashcatalyst/articles/best-practices-flashcatalyst-photoshop. html

  • Flash CS5 crashes when importing images

    Hey all,
Working in an existing Flash file orginally CS4 now opened and being worked in CS5.
Whne importing an image file of any type (.png, .gif. jpg) in any manner, Flash CS5 totally crashes.
Error is reproduced in a new flash document as well.
    System
    XP sp3
    AMD 4450e
    4 gigs RAM
    3 TB HD space
This happens whether importing to library or stage, opening an external library or cut & paste-ing.
Images are as small as a 300x223, 10.6kb gif to a jpg of the same dimnesions weighing in at 46.2kb.  All created in Photoshop CS5
    All systems and software updated!
    HELP!

This has always been an issue in Flash for a long time. Search the forum and you'll see. The best you can do is import in smaller batches (I'd recommend no more than 50 at a time).
Do you actually NEED to import a sequence of images? Any reason you're not using video?
FYI on a rig with 32GB RAM I can barely import 50 without needing to save to a new file, then import another 50. Also realize compressed size and actual size are different. If you want to see the actual memory footprint, open Photoshop, open an image and look at the bottom left where it tells you the actual memory required to display that image. For example a 39K JPG takes 225.0KB memory. A 360KB image takes 3.71MB RAM.

  • CS5 crash when importing from external library

    Hello.
I am using Flash CS5 on Win7 64 bit. I have made a flash site. On this site I am trying to add a photo gallery. I bought a flash XML photogallery from Active Den. The gallery is working fine but to get this into my site I need to import the library items into my flash site fla file. What happens is this. I drag the main movie clip from the photo gallery fla onte the stage of my flash site fla. So far so good. When publishing it shows up but without some parts.
When trying to import the missing items from the photo gallery fla to my flash site fla the program crashes. Done it a billion times now and allways the same result. All but the main movie clip causes the program to crash on importing/dragging to stage.
Installed the latest updates but no luck.
    Please help!!!!
    Sincerely
    Ronny

No I tried both neither seems to be working on my system. I used Duplin version 2.5 because 2.6 requires Leopard and I am running tiger.
this is a mess, and I haven't done anything but import the files, I don't want to start setting up play list until I can figure out one of two things.
Why it did it in the first place, I could delete everything and reimport.
Or how to clean it up with doing it one track at a time.
    Thanks

  • Flash CS5 crashes when importing an image sequence

I am trying to compile an image sequence rendered from modeling software (550 frames). The images are approx. 120kb in size. So far I have only been able to import about 100 images at a time, but when I get to the third import flash crashes. I have adjusted clipboard size to 5000kb max and reduced undo's to 2.
This can't be a hardware problem because I'm running win 7 on a i7 machine with 6gb of ram. Any ideas?

  • InDesign CC crashes when importing XML document

First off thank you for looking and in advance for any help offered.  To the issue:
I have an employee that is seeing consistent crashes on In design CC when trying to import one of our XML documents.  The XML file is around 150KB so not very big.  The actual indesign document and any graphics that might go into it are located on a server that is on our network.  The employee is working remotely.
How best to go about troubleshooting this issue?

Older scripts may not work directly in CC, but many ought to if placed into subfolders for their versions in your scripts folder, such as "Version 8.0 Scripts" without quotes, but case sensitive, for scripts that run in CS6.
And no, it's not just you having trouble with CC.
Have you seen this: Crash | Launch, selecting Type tool ?

I got the same problem. I tried to import into Flash cs3, cs4, cs5 - constant error in each application.
But seems I've found the reason why this happened in my case.
I just deleted the installed system video codecs (divx, xvid, third-party codecs).
I do not see a direct connection with the import objects into flash. But fact, immediately after the removal of codecs it has to work.
I suspect that the reason could be a third-party codec that is associated with playing QuickTime. Maybe.
Also if it does not help you this way, I used a temporary solution.
Open the psd in Adobe Ilustrator, copy images to clipboard, paste it into flash.
In my case the images are not displayed on the screen after insert, but put into the library.
Don't touch objects, just save the file, close the Flash.
Launch Flash and open saved file. In my case in the first run was an error.
Close the application and open it with file again.
The second time the error was not followed, the images were within the document 8-)
This option made it possible to work until the issue is not solved completely (adobe, wake up!).
    win7 64, cs5 (cs3, cs4 had the same issue)
Perhaps it can be useful for someone.
    thx
    Sorry for my English.

  • Flash Catalyst CS5 shuts down on video import

    Hello,
After designing a working webpage with videos without any issue, my computer decided it no longer wanted to import videos into Flash Catalyst CS5 or Flash CS5 without causing the program to close. I assume the issue is with Flash Player, unfortunately that's about as far as my sleuthing goes. Help would absolutely be appreciated.

    Hi,
    That really helped me out!
I was playing around with importing all different file types to see what would crash Flash Catalyst and it appears to just be .flv files, because it imports images, mp3s, and swf files and .f4v video files with no problems. Hey, at least now I can continue importing videos as long as they are .f4v's!
Would still be helpful to figure out why it doesn't like .flv's though...
The step are: File>Import>Video/Sound File...Dialogue box opens, I choose any .flv file (include files which seemed to work fine before) and the program just quits itself giving me the error report window. When I use .f4v files no such problem occurs...
Will send you a yousendit link containing one of the guilty .flv files now - this is a .flv file I used in creating a page with flash Catalyst just days ago before it decided it would no longer import them.
Thanks for your help so far
    Adam

  • Photoshop CS5 crashes when you choose menu items when FinderPop is installed (Mac OS)

FYI - Knowledge Base document was created to outline this problem and provide a solution:

FinderPop released a new updated version today.  It can be found at the below link.  Adobe makes no promises about 3rd party software, however my limited testing does indicate that the crash on inverse selection is fixed by this latest beta drop of FinderPop.

Photoshop CS5 crashes when trying to print. I recently updated to Mac OSX Mavericks. Help?

Hi, Chris. Thanks for giving this query a look. I have the same problem. All documents print on my HP Deskjet 932C except Photoshop files since I updated to Mavericks.
    My CS5 version is 9.0 x64. Mavericks is 10.9.4.
I checked the HP drivers and HP doesn't have one for OS X newer than 10.4.
I tried printing out the detailed report (very long!) and this page rejected the reply as spam. Can we provide the text as an attachment?

  • Photoshop CS5 crashes when I try to print to Epson R2880, anyone resolved this yet?

Photoshop CS5 crashes when I try to print to Epson R2880.  Does anyone know how to resolve this?
    Thanks

    Thanks for replying!
