Flash not playing on html page after template is altered

Hi,
Can anyone help. If i alter anything on a template none of the .swf files on pages based on that template will work when previewed in the browser.
I am using DW CS3.
Anyone any ideas

Good day,
This issue can be considered as a limitation at some point because Dreamweaver lacked the ability to "auto-update", although it was not really the best practice to include Flash contents in a DW template.
There is a workaround though. You may need to edit the template (.dwt) itself and work in Code View.
While in Code View, use the Find and Replace (Edit > Find and Replace) feature so it will be easier for you to find what you are looking for.
In the Find and Replace window, choose Current Document as value for Find in, and Source Code as Search.
In the Find input field, type --> 'src' (including the single quotes) and click on Find Next.
Once you found 'src', pay attention to the text next to it enclosed in single quotes. The value in the single quotes is the path of where the Flash file is saved. try to remove ../ if you happen to see it. (do this if the Flash file is located in the same folder where the HTML page which uses it is saved)
Using Find and Replace again, this time, try to search for 'movie' (including single quotes). You'll see again the text next to it which is the same value as what you have searched before. Do the same thing, try removing ../. (do this if the Flash file is located in the same folder where the HTML page which uses it is saved)
Save the DW template file and try to preview the pages again in the browser.
I hope this helps.

  • Flash not seen in HTML page anymore.

    Hello,
SW Flash has just stopped working in a HMTL page after years of working.
It works in DW edit area when I play it, but not on linux site anymore.
We have not changed any code on page.  Tried in FF, IE and Chrome.
    Page is here http://www.lonnielee.com/index1.html
I sometimes get a Shockwave panel saying that it is trying to access ...    s.timg.com via internet.
    Many thanks

I see the same thing - no Flash content. You need to ask in the Dreamweaver forum because this isn't anything to do wiith Flash Player - it's in your code.

  • Flash not displaying on url page

Hello. I embedded a flash (.flv) file in html page via dreamweaver cs4. the page displays the flash locally, and also remotely if i remote desktop and view. However when I launch the website via live url (www.sitename.com/example.html) all i get is a blank white box where the flash content should be. I've checked permissions via flash security settings, and can't seem to make it work. I believe the code is valid or it wouldnt play on the local and remote desktops. Any advise is appreciated. Thanks!

well for grins i decided to embed the video/audio into a full swf file versus flv with link from swf. as long as the file is fully embedded in swf, it plays on the web just fine. for some reason with linkback from swf (think 11kb) small file to the original flv it wont play on the actual URL. hope this helps anyone else, even though its not technically 'fixed', ill consider it a work-around for now.

  • I want to create a cd on my mac that autolaunches an .html-page after inserting into a pc or a mac. Is that possible?l

I want to create a cd on my mac that autolaunches an .html-page after inserting into a pc or a mac. Is that possible?

Solving this requirement on a modern Windows system is going to be problematic too, as the autorun mechanisms are increasingly being locked down over there, if not by the end-user or the system installer, then by the usual anti-malware tools that are installed.
Given this is one of the most vulnerable populations here in terms of operational security, you'll probably want to target online distribution, or to distribute a signed application that can be installed on the target (akin to a managed system) and that then accesses your data on external storage.  All that app might do is access the disk, verify that the contents of the device are trusted and valid, and launch the browser.
I'd likely target online distribution or pre-loaded distributions and iOS, as that's where all of the older folks I'm dealing with are headed, too.  If not a native app, then maybe a web-app here, and download the contents into the HTML5 local storage.

  • Flash not playing on Mac OS 10.6.8, Flash 11.8.800.94, Firefox 22.0

Flash not playing on Mac OS 10.6.8, Flash 11.8.800.94, Firefox 22.0
Let me also say this flash does work in Safari... just not Firefox. When a flash media link is clicked on FF will go to the link but only a black window appears with no text or error messages or sound.
As far as I know I am running the latest version of Firefox and Flash. I have no plans to upgrade from Snow Leopord to Lion.
Another possible data point for this is Flash updates do not install just by clicking on the download. The DMG downloads but I get an unknown data type when it trys to launch. There is an easy work-around for this be simply launching the DMG from Finder where it runs just fine.
Any thoughts as to why Firefox is not running Flash media files?

iTunes music not playing in iPhoto slideshow after upgrading to Maverick....Why?

Yes, the tracks were purchased in the iTunes store. I'm sure that DRM is the culprit. Seems like an obvious answer now that I think about it.

  • Load HTML page after animation

After searching the forum and only finding the answer for
AS2, I'm wondering if anybody can direct me to the finding the
answer to my problem in AS3. I've created multiple movieclips into
buttons that animate when you press them. I'm wondering how to have
it then direct to an HTML page AFTER the animation finishes. I've
tried several different things, and I can't seem to get this to
    work.
    Thanks a lot!

Can you provide the AS2 solution? I'd like to see if I can
figure it out. I just don't know that I'll find your posting
    again.

  • Flash SWF with Video file will not play in web page

    Hello Flash group,
I have created a flash video file from a *.wmv file.
    myvideo.flv.
I have used flash to build an swf file that plays the video
    (with a default skin).
I have then imported the media file into an html page using
Dreamweaver. I did not import the flv file, but the swf file with
    the "video" in it.
The page plays find on my development server (where
    Flash,Dreamweaver, etc is installed).
When I moved the html page, the flv file, the swf file and
the skin to my production webserver (linux and apache)
the flash files do not show up on the web page. The dev
server is a windows XP running apache 2.2)
Any ideas on what I need to do???
    thanks,
    eholz1

It may cause by any of the reason below:
    - You have uploaded the flv file to the wrong directory
    - Your flv file path/name is incorrect. check all case
    sensitive etc.
    - Your web server doesn't support FLV MIME type.

  • Toolkit for CreateJS showing blank HTML pages after publish on only some Flash projects?

When I used Toolkit for CreateJS on Flash CC for the first time on a simple test movie, it worked fine. I've now created a new movie of a scrolling portfolio banner to go on my homepage. After hitting publish, it only shows a blank HTML page, with a white box the size of the stage.
I even tried it again when removing the buttons and tweens and still no joy. Is there a way I can upload both files to show you and to see if there's a difference in which why the newer one isn't working. Both have more than one layer. The test one moves out of the screen, while the new one fades out. I've even tried putting an alpha effect on the test to see if it doesn't play, but it still works fine.
    Please help.
    Thanks

  • Flash plays before html page is completely loaded

A flash intro for a website's homepage starts to play before
    the html page
elements are completely loaded and visible. The html page is
    not
complicated so it would seem the flash is even slowing down
    the loading of
the html and it looks bad, but not terrible. Is there a way
    to, like,
prioritize the loading of the page elements?

Sorry, I didn't design the HTML page but I'm sure it was
    tested in a few
different browsers. I'm not sure if it happened on all or
    some. The sites
already live so the designer did not think it was a problem.
    Just thought
there may be a stacking order or something that would load
    the background
before the Flash starts playing. Thanks for your help.

  • Progressive Flash Not playing properly from remote server

    I have Flash CS3.
    PROBLEM: I've encoded a video using Flash's CS3 "Progressive
Download" option and then uploaded the resulting video (along with
it's associated files created by Flash ie: .fla, .swf, script
folder with action script, etc.) to my server (webpage and video
    was created through Dreamweaver CS3).
RESULT: A flash video that plays on the web, but has pink
colored digital boxes that breakup the picture... poor quality.
Please follow this link for an example:
    http://rivhawk.tripod.com/index.html
I've watched multiple step-by-step tutorials by Adobe for
creating and uploading Flash video, both with Flash CS3 and even
Dreamweaver CS3. I've tested by creating the flash content in Flash
CS3 and directly through Dreamweaver. The same digital noise, pink
    blocks occured.
NOTE: Before uploading the flash content and associated
files, I tested the flash video in my browser through Dreamweaver
(from my local directory, not remote server)...and it
plays/operates perfectly. It's only once it's uploaded that the
    problem occurs.
I've encoded the video with Flash 8 and Flash 9 at low,
medium and high qualities...same results (even by different
computers accessing the content on the internet). It happens in
    Firefox and Internet Explorer.
After 3 days of tests and research (and viewing samples of
other beautiful progressive download videos on the internet) I'm
wondering if I am missing something very simple, if there is a bug,
is this a known issue etc.
Please help, and please understand that I've been through all
the tutorials on creating/using Flash Video...and specifically
using the Progressive Download option for use on remote servers
that don't have the Flash Media Server.
    Please assist.

You can play video from any server by using a full URL ie
    http://www.anotherdomain.com/flashvideo.flv
    <param name="movie" value="videos/rep.swf" />
Looks like you're building an FLV player in Flash to play
    your video rather
than embedding it using DW. If so you need to open the source
    FLA you used
to generate 'rep.swf' and insert a full URL to your flv file,
    then publish
    the swf and upload again.
    > I've tried changing the value and embed source tags to

    an error saying the
    > flv
    > file cannot be found. Is there a way to do what I'm
    requesting?
As above, or you can just embed the video on a web page in
    DW, using a full
URL to your flv. If your flvs are on a server and you are
    connected to the
internet, you should be able to play the flv using preview in
    browser before
    uploading the page.

    1.  Published a swf that is connected via xml maps to a folder called call center on my server..  When I open the swf from that local location on the server it works perfectly(open from file not thru http).  Updates and functions on refresh.
    2.  Server is an application server running IIS.  Using Front page to publish files to local intranet web pages.  Import the swf to frontpage embed into index.html inside a flash movie player.  Save, when viewed thru Internet explorer the error comes up 2148. Accessed from the server thru HTTP or on the network can see the dashboard and functions after you click OK to turn error off, but when you refresh the connection the error comes back.

  • FLV embedded in a SWF file, does not play in HTML file.

    Hi,
I embedded a FLV file into flash movie clip, which on publish plays well on SWF file, but when the same is embedded in HTML, it does not play.
What is it i'm missing ..
    Kindly help.
    Regards
    Shashi

First, clarify this... are you embedding the .flv into the time line, as in:
The .FLV file is imported on the  timeline of a movie clip.
    I embedded the .flv file,
If you are in fact embedding the video, then there is no external video file... it's embedded into the timeline.
If you are using the FLVPlayback component and an external vid file to display the video and the .swf when testing plays the video just fine but not on the HTML Web page:
SWF plays external video file, as soon as I embed SWF in HTML, it no longer playes the external video file.
then it's most likely a pathing problem.
If you are placing the .swf on a Web page and the .swf and/or the .flv file are not both in the same folder as the Web page.... then the .swf should NOT work when you test it directly! That's because it should be pathed to play from the Web page and not the location of the .swf.
    For your review:
Almost always when it works on the local machine and not the server, it's a pathing problem.
You can put your Flash related files in whatever folders you want, they do NOT have to be in the root, they do NOT all have to be in the same folder. But if you have a problem and if sticking them all in the root folder works, then you know that the issue was a pathing problem.
Just remember that paths used in the .swf become relative to the Web page on which the .swf is placed, NOT it’s physical location.  So for example, if your .swf is in the flash/data folder and you use that .swf on a Web page in the root folder, you are in effect, removing that .swf from flash/data and putting it in root. So if the .swf is loading any related files (xml, images, video, etc), the path used inside the .swf to load the .xml file has to be relative to it's new location in root and then back down into flash/data. This is true even though when testing the .swf by itself, it can be inside flash/data and work just fine, since relative to it's location, the path is just fine, they are in the same folder. But if that same path is used when the .swf is placed on a page two folder levels up, the relative path has changed, the old "same folder" path will not work.
In fact if you are placing the .swf on a web page in a different folder than the .swf is stored in, and that .swf calls external assets, then direct clicking and opening of the .swf in it’s folder should NOT work! That’s because the paths to the external assets should be relative to the Web page and not the physical location of the .swf.
So just be sure that you use addresses relative to the final Web page locations (not physical file locations) and you can put the Flash related files in what ever folders you want.

I have seen a few examples (none of which I have a link for)

  • Flash Video Play in a page like Youtube

    Hello,
I post a lot of videos on my blog and always have to have
people click on a link that opens a new window to play my flash
videos. i do this because if i were to place multiple flash videos
onto a page, they would all immediately start downloading. This web
site does what I am looking for, (
    http://blog.elysiumproductions.com/)
it has a jpeg as a placeholder on an html page, and then when you
click it, the flash video begins downloading. Do you know some
workflow to make this, or is there a service. The site i mentioned
says it uses click2start.net, but that site doesn't have anything
on it. This would be really helpful.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I did not use the streaming video before, but I guess there
must be an option Flash or in AS that start downloading when the
user click the playback button or some thing. Did you try to seach
