IWeb Flash Photo Gallery?
I would like to embed a flash photo gallery into iWeb using the HTML snippet. Can anyone recommend good flash photo gallery software that works well with iWeb?
Simpleviewer and its siblings are available here...
http://www.airtightinteractive.com/viewers/
The flash album exporter for iPhoto is here...
http://flashalbumexporter.home.comcast.net/~flashalbumexporter/iphoto/iphoto.htm l
You could also look at shareware applications like....

... and its Pro version. -
Has anyone found a good way to display flash photos (flip or fold) on IWeb? I've tried using the My Albums page with a single gallery and it works, but I Web doesn't seem to like there being multiple My Albums pages on one site. Thanks.
TervrunThere are a number of flash presentations that you can use. Here are some examples of those created by the iPhoto plugin Flash Album Exporter: SimpleViewer and Flash Album Exporter and Flash Album Exporter Postcard and AutoViewer Slideshow Themes.
There's a 3rd party application, Jalbum, which has over 100 themes/skins. This demo page has a couple of the skins: Jalbum.
Lastly, a new flash album for videos has been released: Video LightBox - Add video to your website.

Is there a way to include a flash photo album in an iWeb site without messing with the html code after the site is created?
Of course, the problem with that approach is that the html is changed each time the site is republished.
Thanks.The easiest thing to do would probably to link to an external (outside of iWeb) URL where the flash photo album resides. You could have the flash photo albums inside the Sites folder on your iDisk and then designate hyperlinks to the appropriate albums on an iWeb page. I think the hyperlink will be of the format: "http://homepage.mac.com/yourname/photoalbumfoldername/"
Hopefully this is helpful.

Help needed in creating easy flash photo menu
First hello to all of you And greetings from Poland
Could somebody help me or give me a guide, maybe a tutorial how to create an easy flash photo menu in AS3 or 2. Let me explain what I want to do this is my image menu done i PSD is my image menu done i PSD:
This menu should be with "clickable" URL images, in the left and right where the red circles are I want to add arrows to change to new images - a whole page with new 9 images - I wanted to ad a nice "change" effect. Also I want to add a "close up" image when onmouseover - something like in this gallery when you move your mouse on the images http://www.flashmo.com/preview/flashmo_129_circle
Is this possible and somebody could give me a hand? Tutorial would be nice because I would like to learn something new, but if you have AS which could fit my demands also would be nice For help I could only be grateful and give you a virtual beeruse google to search for: flash photogallery tutorial.

NEWBIE: Flash photo gallery! Images are pixelated:(
Greetings everyone. I created a Flash photo gallery using
gifs. While most of the images are acceptable visually, a bunch of
them are quite pixelated.
I read online that I am supposed to use vector graphics
whenever possible, but not all images where created as vector
graphics.
I have a few questions:
If I create the image in illustrator, what format should I
save it as to be used in a Flash gallery? If I create the image in
Photoshop what format should I save it as?
Lastly, is it true that Flash will load vector graphics
quicker than gifs?
Any info would be appreciated! Oh yeah, my site is
inthemixgraphics.comif you create an illustrator file, actually drawing with the
tools rather than just importing a bitmap and exporting it again,
it will indeed give you a vector file you can work with. you can
even export it as images that are readable by flash-- however,
you'll get the best looking stuff if the vector is basically
rewritten in flash. Import a (dot)eps file into flash, and break it
apart. Look at how the objects maintain their shape.
Now publish the thing and look at the bandwidth viewer. Is
the filesize much smaller than if you imported the .jpg? It should
be, but at least there is a way to check it.
I get the most pixalation from images when I'm forced to
scale .png's down by less than a perfect %. Its weird.
If you're loading externally, I'm not entirely sure the
correct process to bring an optimized vector in, as my thoughts are
that it would be the actual size of the .eps image (or .swf if you
can export to that) itself.
--I hope this makes some sort of sense, and if it doesn't
you'll have to forgive me.

Inserting a flash photo gallery in a column
Hi
I usually work with frames but I now started a new site using
the default HTML 2 columns template. One of the columns will hold
my main content. I'm trying insert a flash photo gallery in the
column but this gallery (SimpleViewer) has its own index.html file.
Is this possible and how can I do it?
Thanks!Hi Anthony:
Have you tried simply applying iMovie's 'Flash" effect to the slug?

How to get MobileMe photo galleries into iWeb or from Aperture?
I currenlty use MobileMe for an iWeb published site, on which I have a link to a several dozen photo galleries, all pub;ished from Aperture. iPhoto has an iWeb "button", but Aperture does not so far as I can see. I am trying to find the easiest way to keep all of my stuff intact once MM dies next year. How can I migrate, not link, my MM photo galleries into iWeb, and/or publish them from Aperture into iWeb? Once I have the photo galleries as part of iWeb, then I'll be able to use it to publish to another web hosting service. Thanks!
Do you have the original image files used to make up those MMe Galleries? If so you can group them into albums in iPhoto and use the iWeb Album page or Photos page and ignore the MMe galleries.
If the files are in Aperture and there's no Aperture section in iWeb's Media Browser you will have to export those files out of Aperture as originals and drag them either into iPhoto or into an iWeb photos page. I don't use Aperture so an unsure of what can be done between Aperture and iWeb.
If those galleries are the only copy of the photos you have you'll need to download the file (if the gallery allows it) and import into iPhoto before going into iWeb.

I purchased a flash intro template off of templatemonster.com. I edited the flash intro in a trial version of Adobe Flash CS3. After I edited the template so that it had the wording I wanted I then did not know what to do to actually make it my flash intro. After I had edited it, it gave me .html, .swf and .fla files for the intro. The .html file and the .swf file actually play the intro, the .fla file does not.
After playing around for some time, I realized that the flash intro would not play because my index.html file directs the front page to be the "Welcome" page. After playing around for a bit, I changed the name of my flash intro .html file to "Welcome_.html"...the same file name as the front page. I uploaded the flash "Welcome_.html" file to the the server and BOOOOM! My flash intro plays however it is in the wrong position and does not link to the site. I believe the correct file is supposed to be the .swf version because it is centered correctly and includes buttons like "sound" and replay.
Anyways, I know I am far off with my jerry-rigging of the .html files, but does anybody out there know how to put a flash intro onto an iWeb site or how that would look on the server?Drag the SWF file onto your welcome page in iWeb. If you don't want the control bar, uncheck it in the QuickTime inspector. Check autoplay and loop if your flash file is not set to autoplay and loop.
When you upload to the server the SWF file is in the Media folder. -
Flash not displaying photos in Flash photo Gallery
I have several web sites that use a flash photo gallery to display the photos. All worked until a few months ago when the photo were not displayed to users who used Mozilla Firefox, or MAC users using Safari for their browsers. The albums were blank, the thumbnails were blank. Yet if you used Google Chrome or Internet Explorer, all photos displayed perfectly. I have been to the Firefox forums and they point to Flash. I was using Flash 11.5.502.146, then I downgraded to Flash 10.3. To my surprise all photos display now on my Firefox browse V18.0. So there is definitely a problem with the newer Flash displaying photos in a flash gallery. What can be done to fix this?

Problem publishing Photo page with iWeb 08
Hello,
I have a problem when publishing photo pages with iWeb 08. Upload starts and then I get the error message that iWeb encountered a problem while publishing. The funny thing is that I can see
the photo page in Safari. The only problem is that when starting the slide show I can not see the
forward/backward buttons. Publishing a photo page with iWeb from a .me web photo gallery works without any error message, but still when starting the slideshow the navigation buttons are not displayed. Actually if you click on the place where the navigation buttons are supposed to be,
you can go picture forward/backward. Any idea ?I am having the same issue, except I do not get any error messages when publishing to a folder. Clicking on the "index" file within the folder will open the photo page in both Safari and Firefox. Everything functions as designed except no forward/backward/pause buttons are visible below the slideshow. There are text box outlines with a question mark where these buttons are supposed to be located, and I can pause, advance or reverse slides. Eventually these question mark outlines disappear and stay disappeared.
The end result is there are no intuitive graphic indicators on the slide show to even suggest to the viewer that he/she has some control over the presentation. I don't believe I can add explanatory text boxes to the slide show to compensate for the missing icons. This lack of visible control elements in the slide show is a huge issue. I am reasonable sure the problem does not reside within my computer. I've also reviewed inspector control options for a photo page/slide show and haven't gotten any combination of check boxes to make a difference.
I'm beginning to think this may be an unexpected conflict that was contained within a recent software update. It might well be worth a close look at programming code by Apple technicians. In the meantime, can anyone offer a clue as to what might be going on? -
If I've used a photo in iWeb from iPhoto and then delete the photo from iPhoto, does the photo remain in iWeb or does it become a blank space?
iWeb will "remember" it. The info is stored in the domain.sites2 file.

Hello,
I am a photographer interested in designing a photo gallery
website.My question is how are the special effects created in Flash
for when a thumbnail is clicked and the photo downloads into the
picture viewer? (such as the photo fading in , the photo is
assembled from small blocks, the photo downloads from left to
right, the photo downloads after a flash of light) Is there a name
for these effects? Thank you so much, WendyWonderwendy wrote:

These are some complex components/files you can get free off
the net:

ImageGallery 3

Photo Album

Image Fader
This particular sample is the closets to what you are looking
for. It is XML
driven so all the files information can be edited w/o
changing the Flash movie.
You can define 9 transitions along the image name and the
rest happens automatically.
There are many more samples online, search for stuff like
"flash photo gallery"
or "flash gallery", some free some shareware but definitely
plenty.

Flash Photo Gallery Image Rollover Help
Ok I was wondering if anyone could help me with this I have
created a flash photo gallery which reads from an xml file. It uses
the following action script
myPhoto = new XML();
myPhoto.ignoreWhite = true;
myPhoto.onLoad = function(success) {
//portfolioTag = this.firstChild;
numimages = this.firstChild.childNodes.length;
spacing = 70;
for (i=0; i<numimages; i++) {
this.picHolder = this.firstChild.childNodes
this.thumbHolder =
thumbnails.createEmptyMovieClip("thumbnail"+i, i);
this.thumbHolder._x = i*spacing;
this.thumbLoader =
this.thumbHolder.createEmptyMovieClip("thumbnail_image", 0);
this.thumbLoader.loadMovie(this.picHolder.attributes.thmb);
this.thumbHolder.title = this.picHolder.attributes.title;
this.thumbHolder.main = this.picHolder.attributes.main;
this.thumbHolder.onRelease = function() {
loader.loadMovie(this.main);
title_txt.text = this.title;
myPhoto.load("xmlphoto.xml");
I want to add in a rollover effect to the gallery similar to
the one in Flash Gallery 1 in photoshop
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=2961
Would it be possible to take one of the as files from the Flash
Gallery source and intergrate it into my gallery or would I be
better just adding the rollover effect myself?the thumbnail (or its unique parent if you setup this up
without fore-thought) should be a movieclip that stores a reference
to the larger image's path.
search google for flash gallery tutorial. there are bound to
be lots of tutorials.
