Flash Player 10.1 installed, but not working in any browser, or showing up on C:

I recently updated my flash player, however since then, websites requiring flash do not seem to fully load. However, it should also be noted that there is no notification indicating I need to install the software. Sites such as youtube will load, but fail to display the video I want to view, and showing only a black box. Also, sites I need for my HSC preparation are not working, such as the Board of Studies Online Multiple Choice, and Maths Online. The web page will load, indicating "done" in the bottom left corner of the screen, but the screen will be white.
I have tried the following:
un-installing, and re-installing (numerous times)
Restarting the system after both un-installing and re-installing
Checking all mentioned websites on three browsers --> Firefox 3.5.11, IE 8, Google Chrome. All presented the same outcome: blank pages etc.
Ensuring that flash was enabled in all above browsers
My operating system is 32 bit; Vista (Have checked this file--  C:/Windows/System32/Adobe -- and found that the flash player files are absent despite being 'told' it has successfully installed. After which the 'movie'/'f' symbol does not show up in the installation check online)
I assume all the above browsers are 32bit as well, however I'm not sure how to check this.
Please help... I have been searching forums for hours and trying various methods to attempt to fix the problem myself, but have been unsuccessful. It has become increasingly frustrating with the approaching HSC only a couple of weeks away !

There is no flashinstall.log file in that folder. There is a FlashInstall file that opens in Notepad when I click on it.  The contents of that file are below.  Does this give you any clue as to what is wrong?  It is WAY beyond my techincal competence.

  • Flash Player Correct and Installed but not working

    Hi,
I've got the 64bit Windows 8.1 and the version 15 of the flash player.  I've followed all the steps and can not access anything that requires a flash player.  I've checked I've got the latest update, I've enabled the shockwave thing and deactivated activeX, I can see the clouds moving in the animation but I can not access any apps like Candy Crush or Reading Eggs.
Any ideas what I can do please?  It was working yesterday lunchtime but seemed to stop sometime during the afternoon.  Thought following all the steps again and restarting would correct it but nothing.
    Thanks

Still having issues two days later!!!!
Possible to have some advice please.
This is what I get when I try to check for updates using your links.

  • Why is adobe flash player 11.2.202.228 not working on any of my computers or browsers?

I try to go on youtube, or any other online video, and the player screen is always black or non-existent. I try this on two different types of macs, and a dell. I tried on IE, Chrome, Fire Fox, and Safari. I right click on where the play screen should be, and it gives me two options: Movie not loaded... (in grey text), and, About Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.228. How can I fix this?

    Chris,
I followed your URLs, The Rainbird site now functions after I disable and enable Flash and I checked and uncheck Active-X.  The UTube site still displays a green picture area.  The ad displays without a problem and pictures display (thumbnails) as I slide the along the time status bar.  From your first URL my system is running 235 not 228, if that makes a difference.
Thanks for your time and I hope this helps you.  Reading your text the images that I am getting from your URL, do not match the text.  The images look like screen shots from an audio application.
I do not see a white box with a red X.

Download the Adobe Flash Player installer directly by right clicking one of the following links and selecting "Save as".
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
Save the file to your downloads folder.
    Reboot your system.
BEFORE opening ANYTHING else, locate and run the installer.

  • Adobe Flash Player installed - but not working

I have Windows 7, 64 bit, with Internet Explorer 11.  On the day before Thanksgiving everything was working fine.  I received a greeting on 11/27 and was unable to open it - I was told I needed to install Adobe Flash Player - assumed it was an update - but since that time I've been unable to open any of the puzzles on Shockwave, or cards from greeting card providers - probably some other things, but I haven't found out about them yet.  Every time I try to open any of these programs, I get a message that I need to install the flash player.  My control panel shows that I have Adobe Flash Player 15 Active X, 6 MB, version 15.0.0.239 installed and the add-on manager under tools says it's enabled - but it escapes me what it's enabled to do other than drive me batty and waste all my time.  I've rebooted the computer, closed all IE windows, numerous times after uninstalling the program and then reinstalling it - all a waste of time.  Is there any advice out there?  Linda Kochefko, El Dorado, KS

is Active X Filtering something that should show up under Tools, Manage Add-Ons?  If so, I think I had it earlier this week, but it's gone now.  In my efforts to eliminate the Flash Player so I could reinstall a working copy, I may have uninstalled too much.  It's not listed under Programs or under Tools at this time.

  • Flash player says its installed but is not working- please read

    Hey everyone!
the past few days I have easily spent several hours working with my flash player. First- it was saying I needed to put in the latest version, so I did, it said it worked but when I tried to watch videos or play a game etc I got an error message saying I needed flash player 11. and I went through that process countless times. I restarted my computer, ran my virus software, etc. when none of that worked I just disabled and trashed ALL of the software I had downloaded since I had had the problem including my current flash player and adobe. Just now, I tried to install the flash player again. It seemed to work great- it said it installed and I clicked finnish... but, behold, I go to watch a video for school and I have the same problem. I tried to change the computer type to the otehr windows 7 option for the download, again it seemed to work fine and downloaded and told me it was finished... but I still can't view my video or do any games etc online. I have worked with the IT department at school and with family... no one can figure it out. it should be working as far as we are all concerned...but it is not and I have school work to do.
If someone could please help me I would much appriciate it! if this is a glitch with some adobe thing- PLEASE fix it asap. I have work to do!
    Thanks!

  • Flash Player X installed but not working (6MB file instead of 15MB)

I installed version 11 Active X 11.5.502.135 BUT it is only  6MB file and should be 15MB so it does not play videos. It did not hang up during installation (download timeout) but went right ahead and installed but it cannot be the full deal. I have unistalled older versions and started fresh but no go. Can anyone help please?

Thanks for looking at my problem Pat.
    1) In the list of programs in the control panel. The Flash Player file
is 6MB but in the Adobe site
download button it says the file size is 15MB.
    /Name/___/  Publisher Installed        Size             Version/_
Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX        Adobe Systems Inc. 12/11/2012
    6MB       11.5.502.135
I thought maybe it is only partially downloaded or partially installed.
    2) I should say nothing plays. I get this screen always:
The Adobe Flash Player is required for video playback.
Get the latest Flash Player <http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/>
    What do you think?
    Thanks again,
    Dave Dawson

  • Flash Player seems to install, but will not function

Flash Player installs but does not work.  When I go to the troubleshooting website (http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html), the box does not fill with information.  If I right click where the box should be however, the menu shows the version and acts as if AFP is installed.  I cannot select settings, but can select global settings.  The global settings dialog box will open.
I am using AFP version 11.7.700.169, using IE 9, and running Windows 7.  I have 2 other PCs, and both are running the program fine.  So far, I have tried many things to troubleshoot with no luck.
    So far:
-Complete uninstall, using the Adobe uninstaller.  I have deleted the folders and content as well, shut down, and tried reinstall.
-I have deleted the registry entry and also tried setting it to zero located at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\{D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000}.
-I am using Norton 360, and have tried an install with all services stopped (Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam, Auto protect, etc)
-I have verified Active X filtering is not checked in IE.
-Active X and Scripting options in IE>Tools>Internet Options are enabled and mirror the selections on the two working PCs.
-I have tried to uninstall and reinstall an earlier version of AFP with no luck.
-Shockwave Flash Object Addon is enabled.
Screen shot is included to show what happens on the redirect screen after I install AFP.
I am out of ideas and would appreciate any help on this.
    Thanks!

I'm a little disappointed in the forums - no responses.  I'm happy to share I found the issue, and am sharing the solution in case others have the same problem.  The interesting thing is the setting that I changed is different on the two working computers.  In IE9 navigate to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced and the first check box under Accelerated Graphics...check it.  Restart IE and voila, it is fixed.  The other two PCs I am using have this box unchecked and AFP works fine...odd.

  • Flash Player 11.3.300.262 Not working with Firefox. I think I found the problem.

*Flash Player 11.3.300.262 is not working with Firefox. I think I found the problem.*
Millions of people got off work & turned on there computers recently to discover that Firefox is not playing any videos or flash content. Just like me, millions of people are randomly searching the internet in a futile & frustrating attempt at answers. Unfortunately, many of those people will simply stop using firefox & deem it a glitchy, unreliable browser.
This happened to me a couple days ago. I started up my computer & got a pop-up from Adobe saying that I need to update my flash player to 11.3.300.262. I've always thought of adobe as being a reliable software company, so I clicked on it with confidence that things will be working even smoother. To my horror, I relalized that right after the update, my main browser, firefox was destroyed. Then I went on the frustrating process of uninstalling, re-installing, running virus scan, researching the internet like a lost child. I said to myself, "that's why I hate updating stuff, because updates always seem to change stuff you don't want it to change & there always seems to be a problem with the updates." I usualy update software months after it releases, because microsoft & all the other software companies always seem not to test there stuff properly before releasing them. Then we have to look at a glitchy computer until the next update fixes it. Well, that is my rant. Now let me discuss the problem I found.
    Problem:
What I did was, go into my firefox extentions menu & I disabled the 11.3.300.262 & I re-enabled the previous flash player. After that, everything worked perfect again. Then a today (a week later), I turned on my computer & my firefox wasn't playing any videos or flash content again. I went into my firefox extenions menu again, & I discovered that my old flash player had been deleted, & this new glitchy 11.3.300.262 had been enabled. Why did adobe feel the need to into my computer & automaticly delete & update my flash player. Now it doesn't work. THIS IS REALY FRUSTRATING!
    The Issue I discovered:
"RealPlayer" is the most popular video program & it is installed on millions of computers. For some strange reason Firefox does not want its users to use Real Player. Specifically the RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin 15.0.2. I also discovered that my Browser Record Plugin 15.0.2 was automatically disabled when the Adobe 11.3.300.262 was automatically updated also.
    - Maybe this could be because of some copyright conspiracy to keep people from downloading videos from the web.
    - Maybe firefox wants people to use there download add-on instead of RealPlayers downloader.
I don't know what ther reason is. But what I do know is Nobody is going to delete there RealPlayer from there computer just to use FireFox. We can simply use Chrome or Internet explorer. I took the advise from Adobe & disabled the FireFox RealPlayer Extention. I also went into my RealPlayer preferences options, But there was no option to disable download recording from FireFox. BECAUSE I ALREADY DISABLED THE ADD-ON in FireFoxes menu.
    Solution:
Step 1: Adobe needs to update all the computers with the previous flash player. That way we can choose to enable the previous flash player in our FireFox. or wait until a new update fixes the problem with firefox.
Step 2: Adobe & FireFox need to get together & go back to the drawing board. They need to create a update that actually works on computers that have Real Player installed on them. I don't care which company does the update. All I care about is if it works. Thank You.
Oh yea, Im running FireFox 13.0.1, Windows 7, HP computer, Real Player is up to date.

    Hey Chris,
I was able to duplicate this issue on my Windows 7 laptop as follows:
         1)  Completely uninstall FlashPlayer (using your tool) as well as Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Maintenance Service (used Windows 7 - uninstall from Control Panel).  Please note that I checked the box that said "Remove my Firefox personal data and customizations" to ensure that Firefox was completely gone from my laptop.
         2)  I then went out to the Firefox website and downloaded the "Firefox Setup 13.0.1.exe" app to my laptop.  I ran this app to install Firefox.
         3)  I then went to the following website http://www.ishmael.org.uk/karaoke02.php as I know that this URL uses Flash Player (obviously you can go to any URL that uses Flash Player - I'm just letting you know which one I used).  I then clicked on the icon on this page to install Flash Player.
Once the install was completed, the URL stops responding and appears to be locked up (although it will occassionally hiccup and display portions of the page and then lock up again).  You will eventually get a pop-up notice from Firefox that has the header "Warning:  Unresponsive script" and says the following:
A script on this page may be busy or it may have stopped responding.  You can stop the script now, or you can continue to to see of the script will complete.  Script:  chrome://browser/content/browser.js:6551
Selecting "Stop script" will get Firefox working until you hit another page that uses Flash Player.
To ensure that the above URL is not the culprit, I used one from your website http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html and had the same results.
    Hope this info helps!
    Jeff
NOTE:  As a reminder, I do not have RealPlayer installed on my laptop (and never have had it installed)

  • Flash Player is not working on any browser in Windows 8

Flash Player is not Working on internet explorer, or chrome, or firefox...
I have tryed some processes that I have found in this and other forums like not filtering activex, changing internet options, deleting browser data, deleting flash saved data, uninstalling flash, re-installing flash...
uninstalling browsers, reinstalling, uninstalled the antivirus, re-installed it, installed another, disabiling it, nothing works.
When you enter a site using flash, such as youtube, every browser shows the control but not the video, then crashes and shows a message indicatin that flash is not responding, and sometimes saying that a script is not responding either...

Also, I'd appreciate some more detailed information on your system.
Open a command line, and type the following:
    dxdiag
Hit enter, and it will launch the DirectX diagnostic tool.
Choose Save All Information and choose a location.  Open it with a text editor and just copy the contents to a reply here.

I work for years with Firefox, now I have format my hard drive and install Adobe flash player and Firefox again, but Flash player do not work in Firefox, it work only in Inter Explorer, did try all forums and try all the guy`s say there , when I install flash it go to 50% and then stop, there is not a plug-in for Firefox, please help me to solve this problem, I did download the latest flash player from Adobe, please give me the address where i can download the plugin.

There are 2 versions of Adobe Flash:
*an '''ActiveX version''' for IE only
*a '''Plugin version''' for most other browsers including Firefox
*On a Windows system, you should always update both individually.
'''''You do not appear to have the Plugin version for Firefox installed. ''''' If you did, in Add-ons > Plugins you would see "Shockwave Flash ''(version)''". If "Shockwave Flash" is there and is disabled, click the "Enable" button.
Check your Plugins often --> http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
*only the most popular/used Plugins are known by this page
*page will detect only installed, '''''enabled''''' Plugins
    '''<u>Install or update Adobe Flash</u>'''<br />
#'''<u>Using Firefox</u>''', go to the following link and SAVE the download to your desktop so you can find it later. Un-check any items on that page that you do not want to download (i.e., "McAfee Security Scan Plus":
#When the download is finished, close Firefox (File > Exit '''''OR''''' Firefox button > Exit)
#Click or double-click on the file you just saved to your desktop
#*In the installation window that appears, click the box to the left of "I have read and...." to place a check mark in the box
#*The "Install" button in the lower right corner will now be highlighted, click it.
    #*The installation is quick.
#Start Firefox and test your installation here: https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
#To update/install the ActiveX version for IE '''''only''''', repeat the process, '''<u>but use IE to go to the above website</u>'''.

Not related to your question, but...
You may need to update some plug-ins. Check your plug-ins and update as necessary:

  • Flash Player Downloads to Firefox but not Safari--Why???

For some unknown reason my Adobe Flash Player stopped working.  I followed all the instructions and managed to get the 10.3 Flash Player downloaded so that it would work with my Firefox browser. But when I tried to  use my Safari browser to access YouTube a message said that I'd have to install Adobe Flash Player..  So I followed the instructions again, and a message said that "installation ws successful" yet when I tried to see videos on YouTube with Safari it claimed that I had not installed the Flash Player.  I am using OS X5.8. The only
change I made in my system was switching from Java 5.0 to Java 6.0.  Would that have any impact on the Flash Player installation?  Thank you very much for your help.
