Flash Player 10.2.152.32 won't play FLV file

I seem to be having similar problems to several others here.
I am running Windows XP, SP3, 32 bit on Dell Pentium 4, 2Gigs of RAM, 3.0Gig HD.
Since the March 8, 2011 update I have not been able to play FLV files.  Previous to the upgrade, I was able to play these same files.
I have checked - Shockwave Flash Object (VS 8.0.24.0) is apparently installed and enabled, although it DOES NOT show up in the file list (that I can tell at least) in the System32/Macromedia folder.  It may be called something else perhaps?  These are the files that show as updated on March 8, 2011.
Flash10n.ocx - Active X Control
FlashInstall - text file
FlashUtil10n_ActiveX - application
FlashUtil10n_ActiveX.dll - application extension
Files with previous dates are:
flashplayer.xpt - XPT file, install - text document - dated Feb 17, 2010, NPSWF32.dll - dated Nov. 20, 2007, and NPSWF32_FlashUtil - also dated Nov. 20, 2007.
I can play stuff from YouTube.  I am able to see the Flashy thing turn on the link you supplied to others here.
My security is set to "Medium".  I have had NO virus issues, and run a VERY tight anti-virus protocol with AVG, AdAware and SpyBot all active, updated either daily (automatically) or weekly (manually).
Should I uninstall and then re-install, so the SFO will be included, or is there a way to retrieve the (apparently) missing Shockwave Flash Object file on its own?  This issue has now taken up my entire evening, and I am ready to PERMANENTLY delete Flash from my life!
Thanks,

Hi, you don't need to scream at me. I've been on the Forum 12 hours today and 12 hours yesterday helping users with their problems. This past week I had over 1,000 email notifications in my email account and 90% were from the Flash Player Forum.
And this:Let's try again..........arrrrrrrghhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
Please don't insult me and act like I don't know what I'm doing or talking about.
The Shockwave Flash Object is not supposed to be in the System32 ...Flash file location. It is never there. It is always in the addons of the browser, it must be since it is the Flash Player Control. Without it and without it being the correct version(which yours is not) Flash Player cannot work! I repeat, Flash Player is a browser plugin and works thru the browser.
The fact that you have a 32bit OS doesn't tell me anything about what browsers you use. I have a 32bit OS, but I use IE6 on one and the other PC I use IE8.
I know you checked some of my posts, I'm not so dumb that I don't recognize my own writing.
Yes, you need to Uninstall and Install again, that is the only way you are going to have the correct SFO Installed.
If you'd tone it down some, I may give you the best way to do that in order to be successful in that.
However, it won't be tonight. Maybe you'll be in a better mood tomorrow.
Regards,
eidnolb

  • Nokia 5800 won't play flv files

I've had my 5800 for about half a year. My Software version is V31.2.101 (this is the most up-to-date version I can have according to my Nokia Software Updater)
For some reason when I try to play flv files (approx. 30-100mb), a completely white screen shows up with a "broken" flashplayer symbol in the upper left corner.
What's wrong? How do I play flv files on my Nokia?
I've read in lots of places before that the 5800 can play flv files straight out of the box. =/ mine can't
btw, I can play mp4 files, but it's a pain because I have to convert the flv files first
and I have Adobe Flash Lite 3.1 installed. (atleast that's what it says when I select a video and go to "Options" - "About application")

As far as I was aware, the 5800 didn't play FLC - it certainly isn't listed here:
    http://www.forum.nokia.com/Devices/Device_specifications/5800_XpressMusic/
However, even if it was possible, it may depend on the way the FLVs were encoded - things like the frame rate could cause playback incompatibilities.

  • I can downloand flash player but videods still won't play

Hello, I just restored my macbook back to it's factory settings. I can download adobe flash player and it says it installs fine. I still can't play anything from websites. Nothing appears. How do I go about making it work on my macbook. I am running in Mac OS X 10.7.5. I have gone to system preferences and allowed plugins. Can somebody help? Thanks

Follow the steps here: How to perform a "clean install" of Flash Player in Mac OS X with ONE exception.
Instead of going to the Internet Plugins folder, do a Spotlight search for "Flash Player.plugin" and trash EVERYTHING that appears in the results.
THEN follow the rest of the steps to do a "clean install".

  • Quicktime Pro 7 won't play .flv files

For some reason, after I export .MOV files as .FLV file for use on a website, Quicktime Pro 7.6.4 will not play the file once it's been exported.
I get an error saying "This is not a movie file". Quicktime used to play these files just fine on my other computer, and I cannot figure out why. Any suggestions?

Quicktime used to play these files just fine on my other computer, and I cannot figure out why.
QT no longer supports Flash/FLV natively. Do you have the same QT components installed on both computers? (E.g., is the Perian component package installed on both?)

  • Flash Player 10.2.152.26 won't install/function. Help?

System is a 2 year old Dell Inspiron
desktop with 204GB of free space running Windows Vista (32 bit).  Security consists of Microsoft Security Essentials, Spybot Search & Destroy, Windows Defender (although Defender has recently refused to open after restart) and, as of yesterday, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.  A full scan yesterday with MBAB resulted in 4 items being detected and quarantined.  A quick scan today yielded nothing.  Security level is set to medium.  Internet zone is set to medium.  Active scripting is enabled in both trusted sites and internet zone.
When I download Flash Player from the Adobe site or run it from the computer it appears in Program & Features but will not play video clips or other feeds that require it.  No error messages are displayed during download.  Adobe.com/software/flash/about indicates that Flash Player is not installed.  I have tried turning off both Windows Firewall and the pop-up blocker during download/installation and this makes no difference.
One odd thing - Video clips in Real Player that were originally viewed with Flash Player and then downloaded will not play unless Flash Player appears in Programs & Features.  So apparently Real Player recognizes that Flash Player is present (in some form).
    Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi, I think you need to follow this procedure and do so carefully. Use the links from here, not from your email. If Malwarebytes is  just the standalone on your Desktop, then you don't need to disable it. However read over these instructions regarding Spybot. If you use the SD Helper, disable it also(was TeaTimer) Where you see Spybot in the instructions, this should be included also. Just a FYI, MSE automatically disables Windows Defender.
First download and SAVE the FP Uninstaller to your Desktop:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
Next go to this Archived site   http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html     Download the Flash Player 9.0.280 21.8 MB to your Desktop. This is a zipfile.
Look for and extract: Internet Explorer flashplayer9r280_winax.exe and put it on your Desktop.  (1.46 MB)
Download the FP Installer for IE and SAVE to your Desktop:(latest version)
    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe
Once you have those on your Desktop, Using the Administrator Account, you will CLOSE all browser windows.
    Disable Spybot.
Look in your system tray(area near the clock) for any instant messengers, aol, yahoo, etc and Disable them.
Run the Uninstaller and when it is finished, Reboot(restart) your computer.
Check and make sure Spybot is still Disabled.
Run the Installer for vs 9 and when finished, Reboot your computer
Test your browser here and you should be able to see the Flash logo animation(spin) and the version of Flash Player should be listed.
http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ It should be vs 9
Now you will run the Uninstaller again to Uninstall vs 9, when finished, Reboot your computer
Check and make sure Spybot is still Disabled.
Run the Installer for vs 10.2.152.26 and when finished, Reboot your computer.
Then test your browser and you should have vs 10.2.152.26 now Installed. If you can see the Flash logo animation(spin) then most likely you have Shockwave Flash Object in the IE addons, so check that and make sure it is Enabled..
You will want to Print these instructions out to make it easier to follow.
If you have any questions, let me know.
    Thanks,
    eidnolb

  • HT5271 Downloaded latest Apple updates that informed me old versions of Adobe Flash Player were disabled and advised me to go to Adobe and down load latest version of Flash Player. Did that, but Flash Player won't play swf files, which it did before.

Downloaded latest Safari update that informed me that older versions of Adobe Flash Player were being disabled and then advised me to go to Adobe and down load latest version of Flash Player. Did that, but Flash Player won't play swf files, which it did before. (Instead of opening, it comes up as a page of code).

    Hi..
    Quit Safari.
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
    Click:  Delete All
    Now select the Storage tab.
    Click Delete All
    Relaunch Safari to test.

When I want to play a video, it asks me to download the latest Adobe Flash player, and the iPad won't do that.

The iPad doesn't and never will support the Flash program. You will need to download and install a different browser like the aforementioned Skyfire. Photon and Puffin are also mentioned as browsers that support Flash. Or see if the place you're accessing that video from has an app.

  • Fire fox is not upgrading to Adobe Flash Player 10.2.152.32 (2.70 MB)

All the web sites I use want Adobe Flash Player 10.2.152.32 I downloaded from Adobe and installed it. it did not install in Firefox. I was told to clear cache private data and cookie did it and it still is not installing in Firefox. I have to use IE to visit the sites that upgraded to Adobe Flash Player 10.2.152.32, '''I don't like IE'''

    Hi oarun,
Yes.  There are 2 things, maybe 3 you should try.
Go to Flash download site and DO NOT download 10.2.152.32.  Instead look the site for the hotlink that says "for other browsers" and download it. You should see 10.2.152.33 for Safari and other browsers.  Download this one.  (I don't think you have to uninstall the 10.2.152.32 Flash version but you might have to in case your browser gets confused)
Now, try your Firefox browser and see if the videos work.
If the videos work in Firefox, you should be good to go.
Remember, IE8 and the Flash Update for Windows is where the problem is at from my perspective.
My computer runs Win XP Pro Service Pack 3 and Internet Explorer 8 (IE8).  I have been running Windows since 1995 with all the updates.  You don't have to be on an Apple Operating System to load the Apple Safari browser.  I personally like Safari much better than IE8 but I am running both IE8 and Safari on my computer as we communicate.
Let me know if this works for you.  I inserted a screen shot of the Flash download page showing where to download the Flash update for Safari and other browsers but not IE8 below:

Message was edited by: newsguy64 I forgot to tell you.  If Firefox does not work, then go to Apple's website and download their Safari browser.  I know it works on XP!!!  I wish you success.!
Message was edited by: newsguy64 Good grief, I goofed.  You are using Chrome, not Firefox.  Regardless, the "other browser Flash download is still the ticket, maybe.
Message was edited by: newsguy64  OARJUN, I JUST TESTED CHROME AND IT WORKS GREAT WITH THE DOWNLOAD FROM FLASH I SUGGESTED TO YOU ABOVE.

  • Adobe flash player uses 250% of my cpu playing videos...how is that possible?

Adobe flash player uses 250% of my cpu playing videos...how is that possible?

That is totally possible if you do not have Flash set to
enable hardware accelerations.  Right click on a playing
Flash video and select settings from the pop up.
Click the little monitor icon at the bottom left corner.
Check the check box "Enable hardware acceleration."
With out this set, the CPU does all the work of decoding the
video instead of the video card.
    update:
As a quick check, went to Hulu and started an episode of
Warehouse 13.  With hardware acceleration enabled, CPU
was at 37% for Flash.  With hardware acceleration disabled,
    this jumped up to 138%.
The test was done on a 2011 Mac Mini Server 2.0 GHz, quad core i7.

What format are the videos that don't play.
WMV...Windowa Mwdi Videos you'll need the flip4mac component. Free trail:
    http://www.telestream.net/flip4mac-wmv/overview.htm
Other codecs, Perian and it's free:
    http://perian.org/
Flash videos like the one on youTube. Adobe Flash comonent and it's free.

  • Flash CS5 unable to play .FLV files on Macbook Pro

I have a colleague who is trying to put together a Flash package for me  on her macbook pro.  It needs to play an flv file. She is unable to play  flv files on her computer either in Flash or using the Adobe Media  Player. I have no problem playing the same files on my macbook pro,  we're both running the latest OS and have version 1.8 of Adobe Media  Player.
She went to the Adobe site to download the latest version of Adobe  Media Player, hoping that might include whatever component is missing on  her system. Because of Adobe's decision not to distribute AMP that  didn't help.  She has Flash Professional CS5 11.0.2 on her system.  When  she imports an flv video into a Flash project and tries to play it she  gets an error message saying it can't stream the video. Note that the  video is on her hard drive, it is NOT on the internet so no streaming  should be required.
The actual error message is: "the video player is in the connection  error state. It enters this state when a video stream attempted to load  but was unsuccessful. There are two possible reasons for the error: no  connection to the server or the stream was not found."
Since it's a file on her hard drive, and she has loaded the file  into the Adobe development environment successfully, the one thing we  know for certain is that neither of these reasons is correct. Something  is obviously missing on her system, what is it and what can we do to fix  it?

I'm getting error too (Error #2044: Unhandled NetStatusEvent:. level=error, code=NetStream.Play.StreamNotFound). I'm getting this with CS5. This file was previously made in CS4 and never got this error.
Everything (fla and flv too) is on external hard disk.
As this work requires to be exported to mov, I've found out that everything needs to be on the mac (don't know for pc), like on desktop.
So, let me wrap up disadvantages I got with Flash CS5:
    - TextField.embedFont makes the font disappear in CS5, so I can't use it, so I can't "play" with text in a comfortable way (in CS4, with embedFont = true, I was able to rotate and stuff). Now I have to make a bitmap out of it. It means 3 lines of code and a new variable, instead of just an easy one.
    - I have to rebuild my entire source path structure for AS classes, as my old one (that took me years of effort to be reasonable and used to work just fine in CS4).
    - I have to move stuff from my hard drive to the desktop, to make flv be played and to make a mov out of my animation.
CS5 is making my job harder and making me lose a lot of time to find out errors that have no good reason to exist (it was not error. just "place CS5 doesn't like").

I recently purchased QuickTime 7 Pro to convert avi files to mov files for editing on Imovie. However, QuickTime won't play the files. How can I get them to play and how can I convert them to mov files?
Both the AVI and the MOV file extensions refer to the file container and not the compressed data the file contains. Both are generic file containers in that each may contain any valid combination of audio and/or video data that is compatible with the codec component configuration of the system on which the file was created. On the other hand, whether a file is playback compatible, conversion compatible, and/or edit compatible depends on the data actually contained in the file container. So, you are basically dealing with two separate issues here—the container and what is inside it.
Basically, if you want to make your files ediit compatible with iMovie, you must change your file container to one that is acceptable to iMovie and convert the data to edit compatible audio and/or video compression formats as may be necessary. The best approach is to determine what codecs were actually used to create the original AVI files and add them to your system if possible. In most cases a codec package like Perian can be added to your system's codec component configuration to may the AVI file playable. Once they are playable, in the QT 7 app then they can be chnged or converted to file types and compression formats that can be edited in iMovie. (While Perian handles most codecs commonly used to create AVI files, it does not handle all possibilities and, while the Perian codec package still works under cureent Mac OS versions, its development group has decided to drop further development/support of the package.)
Background: AVI is a file container originally developed by Microsoft back in 1992 but for which official support was discontinued about 11 years. Despite its limitations, Windows users still tend to use this file based on its open source ease of use and generic nature, thus, making its use so popular that most users are unwilling to switch to more modern but less generic file types. Since some AVI legacy compression formats have never been transcoded for the Mac or use beyond OS 9 or OS X PPC platforms, it is often important to know what specific compression formats are contained in the AVI file to know which codecs to add to your system and which not to add in order to avoid possible codec conflicts.
You can use many different converters to convert AVI files to iMovie edit compatible files. Most third-party apps contain their own buit-in codecs which do not relay on the Mac codec component configuration. Free ones, like HandBrake, usually have limited conversion capabilities while those that have more varied outputs are usually commercial in nature and will cost you additional cash. QT 7 Pro or the free MPEG Streamclip app allow you to access you own system's component configuration and use any available codec component like DV, AIC, MPEG-4, H.264, Photo JPEG, etc.—all of which are iMovie compatible for editing purposes—but only after making the AVI file QT 7 player compatible.
In order to determine what compression formats wewre used in your AVI files you can
    1) Try checking the Finder "Info" window,
    2) Use the "Inspector", "Media Info", or "Properties" window of any player app that will open the file, or
    3) Use a general media utility app like "MediaInfo" to read the file characteristics.
