Flash Player not installing for IE8

I'm trying to install Flash Player into my IE8, but when I go to "Get Adobe Flash Player", it brings up a page saying "Sorry Adobe® Flash® Player is not available from Adobe.com for your device's operating system or browser." I checked the 'supported operating systems and browsers' list, and found my OS (Windows XP) and my browser (Internet Explorer 6.0 and above) in the list. I also have it installed on Firefox, so I'm wondering why it won't install into IE8? Thanks in advance!

Hi, What Service Pack do you have Installed on the XP? FF uses plugins. Flash Player Installs an ActiveX Control into the IE browsers.
Thanks,

  • Flash Player not working for IE8, FF, Chrome

    Hi,
I have Windows XP 32-bit, and I upgraded to flash player 10.
I went to youtube (and various other sites) and tried to watch a video, all I get is a black screen where the video is. It doesn't have the icon where it says "flash player needed"
I have un-installed and re-installed a couple of times. I even went to other browsers but it's all the same. and it is showing up on my programs list.
the files in my C: drive are:
    Flash10i.ocx
    FlashInstall.log
    FlashUtil10i_ActiveX.dll
    FlashUtil10i_ActiveX.exe
Note: I tried using the Adobe Downloader but it kept saying "SSL not able to connect" or something. This is a laptop issued by my company and I got Flash Player 10 files from our own website as we have to maintain all upgrades.
    Thanks.

Hi, Have you tried to turn off the hardware acceleration feature? If not you can go to the Adobe test site and right click on the Flash logo and click on Settings, then on Display Settings to UNcheck H.A.
Then also check the IE manage add ons for Shockwave Flash Object and make sure it is Enabled.
In FF, look in plugins for the Shockwave Flash vs 10.1.82.76 and make sure it is Enabled.
Flash Player is embedded with Chrome, so there shouldn't be any problem with it.
    See if that helps.
    Thanks,

  • Flash Player not installing with IE8

When attempting to download Flash Player, the screen locks up and it is necessary to close down the browser.  A message is received during the lock up saying that protective software is blocking the action.  I have both Spotzilla and Norton 360.  Is it necessary for me to disable both of these before trying to download Flash Player?

    OS is XP with SP2
    Norton 360 is v. 3.8.0.41
The only browzer we have is IE8
Spotzilla provides Spyware and popup protection and is better at that than Nortons. It is v. 5.0.68.30
Thanks for the info.  I will try disabling BOTH of them and then installing Adobe Flash Player.

    Which browser are you using?

  • Resolve installed Flash player not excuted for all the Vista users on my PC?

    I have a Windows Vista 32-bits system.
I have created 2 admin and 2 standard users.
Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) 32 bit is installed but also Chrome and Firfox are used.
For 1 admin user Flash works fine when accessing a site in IE9 that requires Flash.
For the other users, including the admin user, IE9 must be run "as adminstrator" by specifically choosing that option.
If not run "as administrator" IE9 states that Flash needs to be installed. That either leeds to Flash player not being installed (error is that it is already installed) or that after a succesful installation the problem simply occurs again (and again and again ...)
I want the standard users on the pc to be able to navigate to trusted sites without running IE9 in "as adminstrator" mode.
What do I need to do?
Can I set Adobe Flash player to be available for all the users for Vista and IE9?
Do I need to alter registry settings manually?
If yes - how and which?
    Thanks in advance.

    Chris,
Thanks for the reply but unfortunately it does not resolve the problem.
Other users (including the other system administrator) still need to run IE as administrator.
When in my sysadmin account the shortcuts for other users to a URL requiring Flash and using IE9 execute fine GRRRRRRR.
    This is very frustrating.
On my pc Chrome aand Modzilla have no problems.
The childrens protective software I have however is based on IE.
Do you have any more suggestions?
My alternative is to downgrade IE9 to IE8 or 7 but that is also not an easy exercise ...
Thanks in advance for any input.

  • New flash player not working for all users

I have Flash 10.0.22.87 installed on a freshly built Citrix 4.5 PS.  When the administrator is signed in, everything works just fine.  When my users sign in, they navigate to a webpage that requires flash and it either tells them that Flash is not installed or it prompts them to install (but does nothing when you tell it to).
Did flash player become profile specific with this new release?  I have 10.0.12.36 and 9.0.115.0 on my other Citrix servers and they work without issue for all users.  I've tried uninstalling with the utility I downloaded from adobe.com and re-installing with the offline activeX control.  I've played with the security settings opening thing wide open and it still does not work.  There is no different software between the problem server and the other Citrix servers other than this version of Flash.
    Any suggestions?  Thanks in Advance

I am experiencing the same problem on my LAN.  Administrator account the app works fine, end users sign in with non admin accounts and it will not work.
I spent some time reading online and found the following instructions on the NET.  I tried them and I thought it worked because I was able to log on as a non admin user test account and the flash player worked just fine.
    Log in as Admin
    2. Download the following zip file from here:
    www.supportflash.com/reset_all.zip
    3. Unzip this folder onto your desktop.
    4. Drag both files ‘reset_min_all.cmd’ and
    ‘subinacl.exe’ to your
    desktop.
    5. Run the reset_min_all.cmd file.
    6. It will open a DOS like terminal and start
    running through registry
    keys.
    7. When it is finished it will say “press any key
    to continue”.
    8. At this point you can install the latest Flash
    Player:
    for Internet Explorer:

    lash_Player_9_ActiveX.zip
    other browsers:

    9. Check that Flash Player is working for the
    Admin.
    10. Check that Flash Player is working as the

  • Windows 8.1 & IE Ver. 11 - Adobe Flash Player not installed?????

After upgrading to Windows 8.1 - It seems that Windows 8.1 installs IE VER 11 which doesn't have the Flash player installed and currently, their is no way to download and install flash player for IE 11.

Since IE 10, Microsoft has embedded the Flash Player for Windows 8. If they left it out, now would be a great time to finally free yourself from the pitiful excuse for a browser that Internet Exploder is.
Firefox uses a Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers) that ISN'T restricted by 20-year-old ActiveX technology, it's faster than IE, and infinitely more customizable, with plugins to block ads and popups (that DON'T work with IE).
As to 8.1 and IE11, I was conned (or rather my daughter was) into installing the 8.1 preview this summer, and it renedered EVERYTHING on my laptop (including my AVG antivirus) "incompatible". I had to uninstall it, and reload WIn 8. I won't be putting 8.1 back on till 2015 at the very least. Maybe (just maybe) those jackwagons in Redmond will have it "ready for public consumption" by then, but I'm not holding my breath. Same goes for IE 11.

  • Flash Player not installing correctly

I tried to install a new copy of Quickbooks today and tells
me it needs Flash Player installed. I had flash Player previously
installed but now appear to be no good. I have tried to uninstall
it and reinstall with no luck. I am running Vista Home Premium on a
new machine with 4 GB memory. I have the full version of Flash CS3
    installed.
When I try to uninstall Flash Player, if going under Control
Panels to Programs and Features the icon shown for Flash Player has
an X in the upper right corner of it.
I have had nothing but problems with Vista and CS3 trying to
install and uninstall program and have had it.

Download the uninstaller for Flash Player from "How to
uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in and ActiveX control"
    http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157
Quit ALL running applications, including all Internet
Explorer or other browser windows, AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo
Messenger, MSN Messenger, or other Messengers. Check the Windows
system tray carefully to make certain no applications which might
possibly use Flash Player are still in memory.
Install the new Flash Player from here:

Check to see if Flash Player is installed:

  • Flash Player not working in IE8 or IE9

Had been using IE9 and all of a sudden had problems on all sites with Flash.  Went to a website and was prompted to "Click to install activex control: Adobe Flash Player". When I click to install, I get the error message that the "Flash Player I am trying to install is not the latest version. Please visit the download center to get the latest version."  I do that, go to install 10.3.183.10, download, run, etc. Then I get a message saying "Newer version already installed". If I look under my installed program, that IS the version that is installed.  I uninstalled it, and then re-installed it for Firefox.  That at least works somewhat, but I've had a lot of problems with FF lately with screen freezing, not responding, etc., and I have the same problems since uninstalling & reinstalling (not saying it's a Flash Player related problem, could be something different) which is why I've been using IE.
I read about someone having a problem with IE9 and uninstalling and going back to IE8, so I did that, and here I am still having the same probem in IE8.

UGH! I can't take this.  I'm the OP and STIL having the same problems.  For a while it was ok. I went back to IE8 (instead of latest version 9), and Flash version 10, and that seemed to solve the problem.  Then i started having more and more problems on sites with flash, and then finally I could no longer play my FB game (Cityville) b/c I would get the "you need to update to the latest version of Flash".  So..... I updated to Version 11, and now it crashes ALL the time and can't even go on Youtube b/c it says I need the latest version of Flash!  I HAVE THE LATEST VERSION OF FLASH!!  In other words....back to my original problem from a few months ago.   I don't know what else to do at this point.  At the moment, everything seems to be working ok in Firefox.......... but why can't I get it to work in IE?  FTR, every time I upgraded to IE9, Flash wouldn't work at all which is why I ended up just going back to IE8.  Has there been any headway made on the Flash/IE issues or do I now have to go back to using Firefox all the time? (ironic b/c when this all first started I had been using FF for years, and had to go back to IE due to the flash problems with FF).
ETA:  I just upgraded to IE9 and now when I go to flash sites, it lets them load but everything flashes all crazily (same as happened months ago).  *insert head banging smiley*

  • Adobe flash player not working for youtube

    Hi,
While I was trying to install Adobe Flash Player for Microsoft Internet Explorer, the installation process got stuck half way and I tried to terminate the installation. But I had difficulty even terminating the installation process and IE and my computer crashed together. Normally I use Firefox to surf the internet, however after the computer crashed and when I restarted my computer, Youtube videos just couldn't be played in Firefox. What I have since done was to upgrade Firefox to 3.6.18 and I have uninstalled + reinstalled Adobe Flash Player. However that still doesn't solve the problem. The Youtube webpage only shows a black box with no control boxes. However other websites e.g. Metacafe, which uses Adobe Flash Player to play video files are working perfectly fine. This is highly puzzling to me and very frustrating. Could anyone please help me with it? .
How do I mark this thread as a question?
Now, I was reading other threads and came across 1 suggestion to change the http:// to https:// and now the youtube videos can be played. How amazing :O. But that would mean that everytime I have to manually change the URL to access the video. This is so strange. Any suggestion what has happened? Thanks.

Hi, Since youtube/Google have not responded to the issue, no one knows for sure what their problem is. This is what I found and posted here last night. Then what I found and posted this morning, which you evidently found about the https.
It appears either one or both are being used to try solving the issue. It's been users coming up with these, not youtube nor Google. It effects all browsers, even Chrome. The only one I haven't seen so far is Safari. Flash Player version doesn't matter, nor Operating Systems.
    From last night:
YouTube just updated their video player, so the old version could still be cached in your browser causing it to fail. I would suggest rebooting, and if that's already done then make sure your drivers are up to date.
If that does not work make sure you download the new version of flash.  Posted3 hours ago
No, I had the exact same problem but it worked the second I cleared my internet cache which could have to do with what another user above said about that.
Go to tools, options, clear recent history, and only check the 'cache' option, clear now, okay, and then refresh or exit it and open it again. I didn't even have to restart my browser. I'm using firefox too, by the way. Good luck! I hope this helped!  Posted 2 hours ago
    From today 7/7/11:
Now youtube is having major issues as you could read from what I posted. There is nothing wrong with your computer nor Flash Player. Here is what many users are doing in addition to clearing the cache, history etc.
They are using https instead of http. So try it. Here is one that you can check to see if it works. If so, use the https until youtube/google respond.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1RiMHpUi1w
Until we hear from youtube or our own Flash Player Team, since I'm sure they are in touch with youtube, I don't know what else to do.
My guess is, that if youtube changed their video player for the videos, then that would be a factor. Right now it is a wait and see.

  • Flash player not installing in explorer

My flash player will not install. I have vista.
please help, getting fed up now ;-(. what info do u need?
Went to download flash player from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/.
I click install and click the gold bar at top click install, the page move to the completeion page but nothing has be installed.
    can you advise?

Pat Willener, are you an Adobe employee?  You seem to live on this forum.  Most people have a handful of posts at best; you have nearly 800.  Do you have a job?  How can you spend so much time camped out at this site?  You seem to respond to every post.  I certainly appreciate your willingness to assist people with their Flash Player problems; however, you keep offering the same tiring advice that everyone in the universe has already tried (uninstall/reinstall etc.).  This advice is found on just about every site out there related to Flash Player problems.  Have you noticed that most people who are frustrated with installing/running Flash Player 10 have already tried this?  Yet, you still offer this as if it's a viable solution.  If you're going to offer advice, please offer something new that might actually resolve the problem for most people (if there is a solution).  Thank you.

  • Flash Player not working for Youtube

I have Windows Me (yes im very old school) and am using Internet Explorer and for some reason flash player 9.0 will not work for youtube. I was just on youtube, watching some video, listening to music and it was working perfectly fine. I clicked on another video and got a message that 'javascript might be turned off or I got a old version of flash'. I downloaded flash again and youtube still will not work. The weird thing is if I go onto different video websites, I can get videos to work, just not youtube.
If anyone has any suggestion or things I can do to get youtube to work again, I'd appreciate it a lot. Thanks guys!

I was playing YouTube videos for an hour last night then YT says JavaScript/Flash Player Error. So I installed the new version w/o uninstalling the old one & I'm still getting the same error (in Firefox 3). Then I went to Control Panel in Win XP Pro and uninstalled 2 items of Adobe Flash so there were none left. Rebooted. Reinstalled the new version of Flash Player & I get no improvement. I've griped at YT Help, now I'm griping here. I can see YT videos embedded in MySpace Forums. I can watch the 2 videos in my YT Video Log at full screen even but the HQ/Normal button is missing for some reason). But if I try to play any other YT video, I get the JavaScript/Flash Player error message and no video box. I can hardly navigate around my YT channel at all now. I can't do much of anything but log in, log out and look at two video log videos.
