Flash stops playing sounds, then constant crashing.

So this only started happening recently and the only thing I can think of that I have recently done is update my Adobe Flash (directly from their website) and Firefox auto updates itself.
I'll be watching a Twitch steam, browsing YouTube or Tumblr and I'll try and play a video off youtube/tumblr and it'll play with no sound though the Twitch stream I'm watching will still be making sound. So I'll close the browser, reopen the browser, head to youtube, no sound on any videos, nothing from tumblr, nothing from twitch, flash videos won't play beyond the first frame. Close browser, reopen. Constant Flash crashes.
Only way to remedy this is to reboot entire computer.

Hi my 4s has all of a sudden stopped playing sound. I have a ringtone but no sound for music/movies etc. tried turning on and of and letting bat go flat then recharging. Sound came back for a while then went again. I noticed this started soon after I upgraded to 5.1.1 . IPhone randomly stops playing sound out of iPod docks?

I recently plugged my iPhone 4 iOS6.0.1 (the new update recently put out by apple) and it has stopped playing sound out of any iPod dock I plug it into.
It plays sound normally out of the speakers and charges while on the dock. Has anyone had any problems similar and any solutions?
Also I have restored my whole iPhone this morning and it still has the same problem. My husband doesn't have this problem and he has the iPhone 3.
Is this a bug with the new iOS6.0.1 and is Apple going to put out a new update anytime soon to fix it? Or do I need to send my phone away.

It can't be 3 years old since the 5G iPod was first introduced in Oct 2012
- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

If not under warranty Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.

For certain songs on my iPhone 4s with iOS7 some songs stop playing audio but continue playing the song almost as if it were muted. Where can I fix this? Say "Stronger" by Kanye West stops playing sound after 2:25 but it is 5 minutes long.

Basically it is just like it says. Certain songs stop playing sound after a certain point in the song but the song continues playing and ticking down like it normally would. Does anyone else have this problem?

Deleting the application rarely solves anything on Macs. A better starting point is normally to delete the preference file for the application (in Users/~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.itunes.plist) or see if you have the same problem in another user account on the computer.

Mike, deleting the preferences did the trick, but I don't know why. Itunes downloaded 5 days of podcast! Hurray!! Thank you!!!!!!!!!

My iPad 3 iOS 8.3 suddenly stopped playing sound on its speakers while I was listening on Spotify. Volume was maxxed out. Side switch not on mute. Tried rebooting thrice. Sounds won't work on other apps (Soundcloud, NPR, Clash of Clans). There are sounds when I attached my earpods. I tried the switch to mono solution on the other threads, didn't help either.
My iPad is generally muted because of classes, but when I un-mute it it works fine. It just stopped after one song, and now I can't get it to work. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I've the same issue after updating to iOS 8.3. on iPad 3.
sound is working properly only with headphones attached.
when I tap on AirPlay button it says "Docking connector" while it should "iPad"
when i play with sound settings and try to change e.g. some alert sounds, sound is played and volume slider in control center magically appears.
any other app can't play sound.
is there any fix for that?

IPod stopped playing sound out of speakers

I have an iPod touch 5th Gen which is around 3 years old and today it suddenly stopped playing sound out of the speakers. If i put headphones in sound plays fine out of them but as soon as I take them out no sound comes out even if there is something playing.
The speakers were working fine around 20-30 minutes before I realized they weren't working and my iPod has been doing nothing but sitting on my desk in that time. I tried restarting my iPod but this didn't fix the issue.

HDMI Stopped playing sound through tv?

I've been using my HDMI 12 months and its aways worked perfectly but today, it stopped playing sound through the tv. I have gone onto the sound play back options as suggested on this sight but the HDMI option isn't showing and when I go on the speakers and headphones option it won't let me click the set default option. I haven't done anything new to my lap top, so not sure why its all of a sudden stopped working. Any advice on how I can get the sound back ?

After being open for a while (with several tabs) Firefox becomes generally unresponsive and stops playing sound - videos will still play, but no sound.

This problem has only begun happening recently. I commonly keep my Firefox open overnight with websites like rainymood.com or grooveshark.com playing, as well as several other tabs including but not limited to Facebook, Reddit, and YouTube. Sometimes, after several hours/days of not restarting Firefox or my computer, Firefox begins to become unresponsive - that is to say, pages take a long time to load, opening new tabs is difficult for the browser, and videos will take up to 30 seconds to begin playing. In addition to this, sound will stop playing; if I begin a YouTube video, after the initial period of excessive loading, the video will play, but without any audio. Also, websites such as rainymood.com and grooveshark, even Facebook, will stop making sound.
Note that this is different from a flash plugin crash - when flash crashes, both audio and video become inaccessible and a simple refresh or restart of Firefox will solve the problem. But what is happening here is different; if I refresh the tab, nothing changes, and even if I restart Firefox, it opens again the same way until I restart my computer completely.
Also of note: I have had, in the past, this same thing happen but rainymood.com continued playing, however no other tabs would make sound. The problem is sporadic and I'm not sure where to begin. Also, sometimes this is only a Firefox-specific problem, meaning other programs on my computer can make sounds, but sometimes this problem makes my entire computer stop making sounds, except for Ventrilo, which works but is also unresponsive at first.

You can also try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

Interactive play sound file.vi crashs labview

While playing with a *.wav file to perform an FFT on the data, I tried running this VI. Labview then crashes. No error.

Which version of LabVIEW are you using? I'm using LabVIEW 2011 SP1, and I ran the "Interactive Play Sound File.vi" from the example finder and the VI worked for me.
Are you just trying to play a sound file in your own VI? If so, the DLL library call from the example could be causing the crash. It could also be that your program isn't crashing, but just terminating before your sound file has a chance to play.
There is an easier way to play a sound file, just use the "Play Sound File.vi". You may also need to use the "Sound Output Wait.vi" to prevent your LabVIEW program from terminating before the sound has a chance to play. I've attached a picture of the setup I'm refering to.

Adobe flash stops playing every ~minute

Title describes the problem pretty well,
Whenever i use any flash (youtube or any other streaming website) it will just randomly stop playing (youtube will show the vid as "finished" but eg. at 20seconds)
Things i've tried:
Reinstalling browser (chrome AND firefox)
reinstalling flash
Running flash player
11.6.602.180
Latest firefox aurora
Latest google chrome (both show problem)
Windows 7 ultimate 64bit

Click to Activate shouldn't cause all of that when the users are "dealing from a full deck".

My macbook pro has stop playing sounds

I have a relatively new macbook pro and the sound isn't working there is no supposed "red light" problem that most seemed to have, the volume icon shows at full and nothing plays, I went into system preferences under sound to check if everything was alright and it was.. my mac is only less than month and hasn't been dropped or damaged in any way...? any help

try to reset the SMC
- turn the computer off and make sure the power is plugged in
- then on the left side of the keyboard, hold down the shift, control, and option keys
- while they are held down, press the power button.
- the computer should not turn on if this is performed correctly.
- after that, let go of everything and turn the computer back on
- also, what applications are you trying to play sound through? Make sure the sound within the app or player is turned up

Phone will just not play sounds not matter what quick fix i try unless i am using siri which seems to work

Thanks, I tried that. However, this is what I did and what worked!! I saw this technique on a previous message on this site.
I blew air into the headphone output with a camera cleaning blowy bulb, and put in my headphones, turned them around, and pulled them out several times.
My headphone output my have been compromised with dust or dirt !

Why did my mac stop playing sound?

Anybody know why my laptop isn't playing sound anymore? I have check the audio in settings and everything looks normal minus the master volume. It won't let me touch that and adjust it...ideas?

What version of OS X are you running? Which MacBook Pro model do you have (e.g., 15" late 2011)?
Have you tried going to System Preferences>Sound and selecting your internal speakers for output? Can you get sound by using headphones?

Flash Player 5 was released in August 2000. Are you sure that's accurate? You're missing about 15 years of fixes and features.

Flash CS5.5 OS X Constant Crashing

I decided to try the CS5.5 trial because CS5 kept crashing when I would try to edit particular library items. Unfortunately CS5.5 doesn't work much better. It's a rather large document and crashes randomly while performing the following actions:
1. I try to open the file
2. An error pops up in the debugger and I try to stop the debug session
3. I try to edit particular library items or drag them to the stage.
Once it crashes it refuses to open the file, always crashing on opening the file. So I go through a bunch of things that sometimes resolves the problem:
1. Restart the computer
2. Delete all Flash related files in <user>/Library/Preferences, <user>/Library/Application Support and /Library/Application Support
3. Unzip the FLA and try to open both the FLA and the XFL
4. If I'm able to open the file, copy the entire symbol library into a new document, save & use that one from then on.
5. If I'm able to open the file, save it in compressed & uncompressed 5.5 & 5 formats and try to use those.
6. Clear the publish cache.
7. Delete any SWC and SWF files.
Depending on the time of day or weather, this might work. Most of the time it just keeps crashing though. I try to get as many changes in while the file is open before Flash crashes and I have to go through the whole ritual again.
I've also edited the default jvm.ini to contain "-Xmx512m" so I don't have to keep updating that.
Flash CS5 would at least reliably open the file. But I could not get it to stop choking on certain library items. There was a couple large & small symbols it would crash on by just clicking on them in the library panel.
So... where do I even begin finding out what the problem is? I'm about to try to run the Windows version through Parallels.
EDIT: File opens fine in Flash CS5.5 in Windows through parallels.

How often does this occur (eg. for every file you save to this folder, only for this specific file, or for any file that you save .
Can you specify location where .fla file is being saved
a. To a local drive? (eg. hard drive, SSD drive, USB key, SD card, opened as email attachment, opened from a zip archive, etc)
b. File Saved over a network?
File history. eg. originally created in CS4, saved in CS5 and re-saved in CS5.5
If Possible can you send me the . Fla file or a zip zrchive of the XFL folder Before and after corruption .
Email your fla to us at [email protected] and change the file extension from .zip to .zzz .
