Thank you Joel for your response!
HTML DB is somewhat different from previous Oracle Application Development Products (Forms, Reports), in that it is a Hybrid. What I mean by that, is that resulting applications are built with a combination of Oracle and non-Oracle tools(i.e., HTML, Javascript, CSS, Graphics generated by other tools).
On a previous post, I asked for help to solve a problem, and Scott responded by stating that my HTML was in error. As it turned out, my problem was an incorrect reference to an HTML DB #SUBSTITUTION STRING#, outside of the proper scope.
I'm not sure where it crosses the line, but I'm pretty sure that I would never have been able to find an answer to an improper reference of an HTML DB substitution string, within any third party HTML book.
I hope this doesn't sound defensive, but I though that it was worth the effort to respond with constructive feedback, as others may be equally confused as I am, when they receive a similar response.
With that being said, I am going to use your link to try and get the header to display within IE. However, I would be interested in your response as to why my HTML displays 100% correctly with Firefox, but experiences severe problems within IE.
For any authors out there who plan to document HTML DB, I think that it would be extremely useful to have a chapter or two on the underlying mechanisms within HTML DB (i.e., "www_flow..."), as they seem to be critical for examining and diagnosing many situations.

  • Flash Won't Display my Webcam Content for Online Meetings

I'm running a Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 on 2 Windows XP Professional (32 bit) computers.  One is up to Service Pack 2; the other Service Pack 3.  As of 2 weeks ago, IE 7 and Firefox 3.5.8 won't play my webcam content in either Dimdim or vyew where I hold online office hours for my students.  If I open my webcam software to Quick Capture, I can sometimes get the microphone to be recognized.  Flash will display a box, but no video content.  I have gone to settings and allowed both sites complete access to the webcam and microphone and to not ask again.  This has not fixed the problem.
Is anybody else having this problem?  Has anybody fixed this problem?

After the fourth time exporting the same swf, it now just works, don't ask me why...

No harm here. Apple does not frequent this site, but only maintains it for user to user communication, so even a left handed comment directed at Apple gets misconstrued as directed at users. I too would like to see things like simple rotation imbedded within the Photo app, but will not hold my breath waiting for it.
There are certainly more things right with iPad than wrong, so get busy enjoying, and check updates every now and then

  • Flash won't display in IE

I've started an application that has a flash header. The flash header displays fairly quickly, when I open the following link in Firefox:
    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=27351
In addition, all of the lines in my boxes line up correctly.
However; when I open the same link in IE, the flash header never appears, it just appears to download forever. Plus the appearance of my boxes get slightly out of synch.
What do I need to do so that my HTML DB application that contains flash, appears in a timely manner while using IE? It seems difficult to believe that it is related to storing the Flash file in the DB, because the presentation of the page is very fast in Firefox.

  • Flash builder 4.7 as plugin won't display asdoc

    Hi,
on windows 7 x64, I just installed Flash Builder 4.7 x64 on my existing eclipse 4.2 x64 (using "the Adobe Flash Builder 4.7 Plug-in Utility") and the asdoc popup won't display anything but the current element. If I start the standalone Flash Builder, using the same workspace and same project, it works fine. Do I need to configure something else so it works as a plugin?

    My mistake...
There was a typo into the XML application descriptor, that prevented the app to install properly on the device.
Precisely, it wasn't a typo but raher a malformed <intent-filter> node. I launched adb tool from the console with adb install MyApp.apk command, and I saw this : Failure [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_MANIFEST_MALFORMED] in the terminal. From here it was easy to find the culprit.
What would be cool is to have this feature inside the Flash Builder's Console panel.

  • Flash .swc won't display

    I've got a head-scratcher here.
We're updating an older Flex 3 project (3.6 SDK) and have (mostly) succussfully migrated the project to FB4.5 but we're sticking with the 3.6 SDK.
One particular element of this project is a masthead which we publish as a .swc from Flash 5.5 after using the "Convert Symbol to Flex Component" command. I've also written a simple class for this masthead component so we can get at some interal properties.
The .swc isn't visible at all. It's there, I've confirmed that using the debugger but it won't display. I've even tried pulling it into a bare-bones project file using both the old 3.6 SDK and the 4.5 SDK. Nothing.
Maybe I'm follow an old workflow for bringing Flash elements into Flash Builder?
I noticed there are two Flex Component kits, but I'm pretty sure Flash 5.5 already has the Flex Component kit built-in. Yes?
    Toughts?

    Hi,
You mentioned that this was a project you migrated over to FB 4.6,
correct? Chances are that even though you have the swc in your lib
folder, the project properties are pointing to a version of the swc in a
    different location.
Choose Project > Properties > Flex Build Path >Library Path and then
click the swc that's having problems, click "Edit" on the right, and
confirm that it's pointing to the correct location.

  • Director mx 2004 won't display Flash 8 swf files & other Flash media

I have created a Flash 8 Project which has audio, video (which are converted to swf files fom flvs), flashpaper.  This application is driven by XML.
However  this application works fine outside director, but when I import the main swf file into director mx 2004 and RUN it, director won't display the videos (but I can hear the audio from the videos), Director wont show graphic images(eg menu icon movie buttons, and flash buttons). Also I can launch external files (eg text file) from flash, but again it won't work via director.
    ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE

    ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE
I suggest there's no need to shout.
Try linking the Director cast member to the external swf file instead of fully importing it. You also should have the 10.1.1 update in place - this is particularly important.

Is there a component or plugin I should copy to

  • Firefox sporadically won't display flash embedded within a web page.

I have Fiorefox 28.0, running on a Mac with Mavericks 10.9.2. Sporadically, Firefox won't display an embedded flash video. I tried running Firefox in Safe Mode (all add-ons disabled). Same thing occurs - won't display the embedded flash on some webpages.
Here is an example webpage in which this problem occurs:
    http://www.deadline.com/2014/04/nbcs-jimmy-fallon-and-seth-meyers-welcome-stephen-colbert-to-cbs-video/
I couldn't determine how to attach a file of a screen grab or I would have done so.
    Thanks.

I can't tell how far the player gets in loading. All I see is a blank white block of space where the player would normally be loaded. I used the term 'embedded' as that seemed the correct term to use. If incorrect, that's only due to my unfamiliarity with the correct terminology of having a flash video within a web page. BTW, I neglected to mention that the same page that Firefox has problems with is displayed fine in Safari. Screen grab attached showing blank space where Safari displays a functional plug-in.

  • Flash forms -- Not displaying in IE

This is my first foray into flash forms, and I discovered
yesterday that while they look/work beautifully in Firefox
(2.0.0.4), they're not displaying at all in IE (6 or 7).
I'm using it to force the user to input their date in a
    uniform format, so I'm sure there's a non-flash workaround. I'd
like to get this sorted out though, so my future work with flash
    can be more involved.
Code is attached. Please let me know if I can provide further
    clarification.

    Michael --
    Thanks for your help.
I think I've narrowed the problem down -- it's not that it
won't display my flash form in IE, it's that it won't display it in
a Fusebox environment. I'm going to poke over at their site to see
what they have to say -- I suspect I'll need to upgrade the version
of Fusebox that I'm using. :)

  • Yahoo's sign-in seal won't display in Firefox but will in I.E.

My Yahoo sign-in seal worked fine 'til this morning. It'll change the color but won't display the same or new text. Yahoo tech said it's a Firefox problem because it works in Internet Explorer. He dbl-checked that I wasn't on a phishing site.
    Any ideas to correct this?
    Thx-Kate

Is the seal a Flash object?
Update the Flash plugin to the latest version.

  • PDF files won't display. Error message "Missing Plug-ins"

Hello. I am having trouble with adobe reader but only certain files. When I first signed up for school in may Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Reader were required and when I did the check plug-ins system check, both were installed and running just fine. Just in the past 2 days is the check plug-ins test saying Adobe reader is not installed. I have tried un-installing and re-installing but still saying it is not installed. I'm not having troubl with all adobe reader files. I'm an online student and my e-books are opening and displaying just fine. Also my pdf documents saved on my computer are opening just fine. When I try to view a websites brochure, a websites sale paper, or maybe open up an article, the page pops up but the image won't display. It keeps saying "missing Plug-ins". I have a MAC 10.6.8. running on Safari and I have downloaded Adobe Reader 10.1.0. I need to be able to open up articles because I'm doing a homework assignment that requires one. If u can help in any way, please do.

I've tried all the fixes listed in the discussions about missing plug-ins in Mail.  None of them worked.  I can see attachements in the emails, but when I forward them, the missing plug-in shows up in place of the attachments on the forwarded email.  I'm running the latest OS 10.7 on my Mac Pro and I just downloaded the latest Java app.  HELP!!

  • SWF Won't Display in RoboHelp Project

    Hi,
I have a RoboHelp 9 HTML project that has a number of SWF files embedded in a number of the pages. The problem is the SWF won't display on the HTML page. The SWF files are published to version 11.x. The HTML pages work fine on my computer but I have Robohelp and Flash Pro installed. When I take it to any other computer in my office, the HTML pages load with no problem but the SWF files will not load onto the pages. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

So you are saying that the SWF *WAS* actually displaying but was somehow unable to present the text?
For others that may wonder about what TLF is (as I did) I'll save you the Google step.

  • Flash Text not displaying certain fonts

    Thanks as always…
I am trying to use Flash text for some headings, but after an
hour of pulling my hair out I've just realised it will only display
certain fonts, such as Helvetica etc.
I added the font I want to use to my font list but it still
    does not display…
I'm using MX on OSX 10.3.9.
    Any ideas? Thansk.

Is your text in a dynamic text box, or static text box in
    flash?
I don't think the issue concerns the "true-type" or not
    "true-type" font.
In Flash, when text is part of a dynamic text box (which I
assume is the case in your situation),
then the font works just like in an html page:
if the font is installed on the computer it will show, if
not, it won't. The way around this, is to
embed the font data in the authoring flash file, and link it
to the dynamic text box, via actionScript.
So if you cannot work on the authoring Flash file with Flash
MX or Flash8, and if indeed we're
talking about a dynamic text box, your only option is to use
    a web-safe font.
