Flashback Effect....

Hi all,
I am working on a new video and I am wanting to achieve a "Flash Back" Effect... The video is about a guy and a girl arguing and breaking up and throughout the video I want to flashback to the good times they had... with this effect I am looking use sort of a glow filter to kinda show that its a flash back... Nothing cheesy but very professional as this video is going to be aired for lots to see...
Any ideas on how to achieve this look???
Thanks All!

You could transition to a Gaussian blurred clip and stack (superimpose) the image with a hole cut into it and allow the underlying clip to be in focus while the above exact duplicate plays blurred. Feathered edges probably would work best.

  • Final cut pro 7  -  Flashback effect "film style"

    I want to create a Flashback effect in Final Cut Pro 7 the tutorial states double click the clip, go to filter in the viewer window, press slash to drop the film style video filters, this will bring up the gama, click on white defusion etc.   so not using keyboard short cuts much. My question is where do I find press the slash to drop down the film style video filters.?

    Uhm...FCP doesn't have those built in...not that I'm aware of. The slash key doesn't activate any filter toggle that I'm aware of.
    are you sure this is an FCP 7 tutorial? Not FCX?

    All of the examples shown around those samples are using After Effects to get the effect.  You should look into that if you have it available.  Otherwise, you will need to experiment to get something that might come near to those effects where you use blur filters and property variations of images sitting above images.

    Hey guys :)
    I have a blank lol!! What's the effect please where someone remembers the past, looks up and the screen goes all wobbly (kinda like in scooby doo)

    It's not likely, but better safe than sorry. See

    A Google search can reveal a variety of alternatives on how the remove the trojan should your computer get infected. This can get you started. However, be careful about what you do as new variants of the malware circumvent the efforts of earlier tools.

    I'm told there is a virus associated with Adobe Reader. How can I tell if my machine is effected and if so what is the cure. I'm running OS X10.6.8 on an iMac with safari 5.1.5

    There are no viruses currently affecting the Mac but there is something called Flashback which is malware that has been doing the rounds and affected many Mac users. Apple have released some updates to Java that should remove it and improve protection. Run Software Update to see if there is anything for downloading.
    A few precautions that can help prevent your Mac becoming infected:
    If you use Flash only download it directly from Adobe.
    In all web browsers disable Java (but do leave Javascript on as that's something else).
    In all web browsers make sure downloaded files aren't set to automatically open after downloading.
    Consider disabling Java completely (launch Java Preferences in the Utilities folder and disable it - you'll likely rarely, if ever need it. If you do just turn it on and off again when your done).

  • Replace Materialized View with Flashback?

    I'm building a Data Warehouse with the following:
    1. Tables populated throughout the day using CDC from the Application DB
    2. MVs on those tables to keep a daily snapshot of the tables for reporting.
    3. End users access the data through views with VPD applied, on the MVs
    My systems team would like the solution to use as little storage as possible and currently I effectively have a copy of the app DB in the DW tables and would need another copy in the Daily MVs. (It is an insurance DB, so it is complex with lots of data, > 1.5 TB)
    One way to reduce the storage could be to use flashback to keep a static daily version of the tables, so
    At midnight I'd recreate the views like:
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW client
    AS SELECT *
       FROM   client_tab
       AS OF TIMESTAMP (TO_TIMESTAMP(TRUNC(SYSDATE)));This would replace my refresh MV script. The end users would then refer to the client view in their reports
    We would obviously need enough undo to store a days worth of data to ensure the flashback views remain consistent, but this is much less than the space required for a full copy. On a busy day there would be about 1% data change.
    No DDL will occur on the tables during the day
    Is there anything else I should be aware of? Can you let me know if (and why) this would not be a good idea?
    This will run on Oracle 11.2.0.1
    Thanks,
    Ben

    I guess I'm having some trouble visualizing the basic data model...
    In most data warehouses that I've seen in the financial industry, reporting the position/ balance/ etc. at a given date involves scanning a single daily partition of each fact table involved and then hitting dimension tables that may or may not be partitioned (slowly changing dimensions would often have effective and expiration date columns to store the range of time a row was valid for, for example). Year-over-year reporting, then, just has to scan two fact table partitions-- the one for today and the one for a year ago. You may not store every intermediate change if there are potentially hundreds of transactions per account per day, but you'd generally put the end state for a given day in a single partition.
    In one of your updates, it sounded like the 1.5 TB of data was just for the data that constituted end-of-day yesterday plus the 1% of changes made today which would imply that there was at least 15 GB of UNDO generated every day that would need to be applied to make flashback query work. That quantity of UNDO would make me pretty concerned from a performance perspective.
    I would also tend to wager that VPD policies applied to views that are doing flashback query would be problematic. I haven't tried it and haven't really worked through all the testing scenarios in my mind, but I would be somewhat surprised if that didn't introduce some sort of hurdle that you'd have to work through/ work around.

  • Flashback.C Trojan-Downloader

    ars technica recently published a story about Flashback.C and a link to F-Secure to fix it.
    Now I'm, panicking, as I did update Flash recently, but can't remember the look of the update screen.
    It's such a common practice that Flash needs updating frequently that it didn't seem unusual. I'm really careful about this sort of thing and I only updated after ignoring a few previous notices.
    The instructions on F-Secure tell you what files are created and to delete them. But the problem I had when checking is that it's not conclusive.
    Example:
    The following line is inserted into "/Applications/Safari.app/Contents/Info.plist":<key>LSEnvironment</key><dict><key>DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES</key>
    <string>/Applications/Safari.app/Contents/Resources/%payload_filename%</string>< /dict>
    The following line is inserted to "/Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/Info.plist":<key>LSEnvironment</key><dict><key>DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES</key>
    <string>/Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/Resources/%payload_filename%</string> </dict>
    The installer then restarts running instances of Safari and Firefox in order to take the payload into effect.The installer also disables the built-in anti-malware feature in Mac OS X. It unloads the XProtectUpdater daemon, and then wipes out the following files:
    /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.xprotectupdater.plist
    /usr/libexec/XProtectUpdater
    I don't have that entry line in my plist files, but I also don't have the file /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.xprotectupdater.plist
    How can I check that the Flash update I did wasn't this trojan?
    I checked the version of Flash I'm running and it is the latest (11.0.1.152), so it looks like it has been updated recently.

    Here is a complete list of the (Flashback trojan) files installed:
    .MacOSX/environment.plist
    Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.SystemUI.plist
    Library/Preferences/perflib
    Library/Preferences/Preferences.dylib
    Library/Logs/swlog
    Use the free Easy Find and search for the files  (start with #4 "Preferences.dylib" first)
    http://download.cnet.com/EasyFind/3000-2248_4-8707.html
    Delete all those (may need to turn on hidden files with TinkerTool to get the .MacOSX folder to show, then turn it off) and reboot

  • How to flashback a tablespace

    hi everyone,
    i want to know flashback in detail,
    is it possible to flashback a tablespace and a datafiles, if yes could you please explain me
    thank you!

    You could combine the two features flashback database and transport tablespace to in effect flashback a tablespace.
    1) flashback database
    2) make tablespace read only
    3) export metainfo
    4) copy datafile
    5) recover database to the point before you did flashback database
    6) drop tablespace
    7) import tablespace again
    But the other option would be to do TSPITR as mentioned by others already. Look here for an example:

  • Flashing Effect In Final Cut Express 4

    Hello Fellow FCE Users!!!
    I am editing a video and want to use a "Flash" Type of effect to transition between two shots, kind of like a "Flashback" type of effect where there is a bright light that transitions between two different shots. What is the best way to achieve this? I have tried adding a dip to color transition using white as my color but it's not exactly what I am looking for... Any Ideas???
    Thanks in advance!

    use fade through color and make the color white. Then Tweak the speed.

  • Flashback Recovery Area Usage near 100% - what happens next?

    Hello,
    I am fairly new to Oracle flashback. I have a database which is nearing 100% usage of the flashback area. Until now, I've just been increasing the size to delay the inevitable. I've also gone and pruned archivelogs (using OS commands) from the fra, but this does not seem to have any effect. What I wanted to know is, what will happen if I let it reach 100%. Will the database cease functioning or will it prune files that it no longer needs and free space on its own?
    Thanks for any insight you can provide.

    With respect to "how" I am using flashback, this is something that also confuses me. It seems as if "Flashback Database" has NOT been enabled, but I know that I can flashback a table within my database by enabling row movement on it. I have specified USE_DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST as the location to multiplex archivelogs and I use the EM dbconsole to take full backups of the database which seems to also populate a directory "autobackup" even though the backups are directed somewhere else. My guess is that I do NOT have flashback enabled in the sense you meant. I'd appreciate any clarification.To enabling flashback you have to issue ALTER DATABASE FLASHBACK command at mount stage in 10g(can at open stage in 11g) and you can check it from V$DATABASE.FLASHBACK_ON column.If it is 'YES' then that is enabled else is not.In additionally you performed FLASHBACK TABLE feature this is based on undo tablespaces(undo information and related undo settings/parameter) and nothing relationship with FLASHBACK DATABASE.

  • Unable to do flashback database!!

    Hi all,
    I have enabled flashback database and created a restore point with guaranteed flashback database so that i can do a flashback database. When i do a flashback database, its says it needs archivelogs to do recovery. The flashback log usually will have all modified data in a flashback log files to use it for flashbacking a database. why its asking for archivelogs when all the modified data is present in flashback log itself? kindly clarify me.

    Hi,
    Flashback database required the Archive log files.
    "Flashback Database is similar to conventional point-in-time recovery in its effects. It enables you to return a database to its state at a time in the recent past. Flashback Database is much faster than point-in-time recovery because it does not require restoring datafiles from backup and requires applying fewer changes from the archived redo logs."
    "No file in the fast recovery area is eligible for deletion if it is required to satisfy a guaranteed restore point. However, archived redo logs required to satisfy a guaranteed restore point may be deleted after they are backed up to disk or tape. When you use the RMAN FLASHBACK DATABASE command, if the archived redo logs required to satisfy a specified guaranteed restore point are not available in the fast recovery area, then they are restored from the backups."

  • Table Truncated, Flashback is enabled ... How to recover.

    Hi,
    There is a table which was truncated, as we have flashback enabled. Even we have previously enabled row movement of the particular table.
    How to recover ????
    Thanks.

    hi,
    There are three options available:
    1. Restore and recover the primary database to a point in time before the drop.
    This is an extreme measure for one table as the entire database goes back in
    time.
    2. Restore and recover the tablespace to a point in time before the drop.
    This is a better option, but again, it takes the entire tablespace back in time.
    3. Restore and recover a subset of the database as a DUMMY database to export
    the table data and import it into the primary database. This is the best option
    as only the dropped table goes back in time to before the drop.
    For the first, see information on performing incomplete recovery on a database.
    The second and third options are virtually the same, it depends if the entire
    tablespace data should be taken back in time, or just recovering the one table.
    The tablespace point in time recovery (TSPITR) may be useful if there are
    dependencies between the dropped/truncated table and other tables in the
    database. For the second option, see RMAN documentation on TSPITR and/or Note 180436.1 RMAN Tablespace Point in Time Recovery Example. Both procedures
    for the second and third options are very much the same. The differences are
    that the TABLE PITR has to be exported/imported manually while the TABLESPACE
    PITR is fully automated by RMAN.
    This article will deal with the third option.
    General overview of procedure to recover from a DROP or TRUNCATE table by using RMAN.
    To recover from a dropped or truncated table, a dummy database (copy of primary)
    will be restored and recovered to point in time so the table can be exported.
    Once the table export is complete, the table can be imported into the primary
    database. This dummy database can be a subset of the primary database. However,
    the 'dummy' database must include the SYSTEM, UNDO (or ROLLBACK), and the
    tablespace(s) where the dropped/truncated table resides.
    The simpliest method to create this 'dummy' database is to use the RMAN
    duplicate command. See:Note 228257.1 RMAN Duplicate Database in Oracle9iNote 73912.1 RMAN Creating a Duplicate Database -- Oracle8i
    The difference between the two versions is that Oracle9i duplicate command
    allows for a 'SKIP TABLESPACE' option. Thus Oracle9i allows for a duplication
    of a subset of the database.
    In Oracle8i, you cannot 'skip' tablespaces when using duplicate, so you must
    duplicate the entire database. If this is not a desired option, or you must
    restore the original database and thus cannot use
    the rman DUPLICATE.
    NOTE: The remainder of this information is for users who cannot use the
    DUPLICATE command in Oracle8i. I.e., you want to restore only a subset
    of the Oracle8i database.
    Requirements :
    a) RMAN backup of the primary database should be available to the
    host where it has to be restored on.
    b) Use of an RMAN-catalog database
    c) Auxiliary instance created and started in NOMOUNT
    (See Note 180436.1 step I. Create the auxiliary initSID.ora.)
    Create this from the init.ora of the primary database and:
    !!!!! IMPORTANT !!!!!!!!
    If using the same host as the primary, be VERY careful as you do not want to
    restore on top of existing files being used by the primary (production database).
    Doing so can corrupt and crash the production database!!!!!!
    - be sure all paths for this AUX instance are different than primary.
    - be sure CONTROL_FILES parameter has different location but more importantly DIFFERENT NAME.
    - add LOCK_NAME_SPACE to any value other than the primary database name.
    - change/add SERVICE_NAME=AUX1.
    - use the SAME DB_NAME as for the production database
    - BE SURE you include the 'alter database rename file' command at the end
    of the script. This changes the location and/or name of the online
    redo log files.
    d) Set ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID set to the auxiliary instance
    e.q set ORACLE_SID=AUX1
    set ORACLE_HOME=<....>
    !!!!! IMPORTANT !!!!!!!!
    1: Restore and recover the tablespace
    The restore and recovery is done by RMAN. Create a file
    of the script below (e.q table_pitr.cmd) and execute the following
    command :
    $ rman cmdfile=table_pitr.cmd
    NOTE: ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID set to the auxiliary instance
    NOTE: The Auxiliary instance IS the target to rman at this point.
    The RMAN-script :
    connect catalog rman/rman@v920_nlsu31
    connect target /
    run
    allocate channel t1 type sbt_tape
    parms='SBT_LIBRARY=/home/usupport/liblsm.so';
    set until time "to_date( '09-10-2005 06:00', 'DD-MM-RRRR HH24:MI')";
    restore controlfile;
    sql "alter database mount clone database";
    set newname for datafile 1 to '/fs01/oradata/tspitr/system01.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 2 to '/fs01/oradata/tspitr/undotbs01.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 4 to '/fs01/oradata/tspitr/tools01.dbf';
    restore tablespace system, undotbs1, tools;
    switch datafile all;
    sql "alter database datafile 1,2,4 online";
    recover database skip forever tablespace TEMP,INDX,USERS,OLTS_ATTRSTORE,
    OLTS_CT_DN,OLTS_CT_CN, OLTS_CT_OBJCL,OLTS_CT_STORE,OLTS_DEFAULT,
    OLTS_TEMP,OLTS_IND_ATTRSTORE,
    OLTS_IND_CT_DN,OLTS_IND_CT_CN,
    OLTS_IND_CT_OBJCL,OLTS_IND_CT_STORE,
    P1TS_ATTRSTORE,P1TS_IND_STORE;
    sql "alter database rename file ''/fs01/oradata/primary/REDO01.LOG'' to ''/fs01/oradata/tspitr/REDO01.LOG''";
    sql "alter database rename file ''/fs01/oradata/primary/REDO02.LOG'' to ''/fs01/oradata/tspitr/REDO02.LOG''";
    sql "alter database rename file ''/fs01/oradata/primary/REDO03.LOG'' to ''/fs01/oradata/tspitr/REDO03.LOG''";
    /* NOTE: Syntax within rman is two single quotes around each name, this may be operating system specific. */
    release channel t1;
    Explanation :
    - Tape channel allocated, but could also be a disk channel, depending
    on where the backups are.
    - SET UNTIL TIME
    User specified time, just before the DROP/TRUNACTE table
    - MOUNT CLONE DATABASE.
    This forces all datafiles to be put OFFLINE. Just for safety reasons.
    - SET NEWNAME
    New path for the datafile to be restored. Keep in mind that this is
    done on the auxiliary instance and should NOT interfere/overwrite the
    prodution database.
    - ALTER DATABASE RENAME FILE
    This is required to change the location of the online log files. When the
    'resetlogs' is issued, Oracle will create online logs based on specification
    in the controlfile. This command changes the location and/or name. If
    this is being performed on the SAME server, not issuing a rename will
    cause Oracle to reset the production online log files. This will corrupt
    and crash the production database!!!!!!
    - RESTORE TABLESPACE ...;
    Restore the tablespaces which need to be recoverd.
    This includes always the SYSTEM, rollback/undo tablespace and
    the tablespace(s)where the dropped/truncated table resides.
    The SYSTEM tablespace is always included as it containts most / all of
    the objects owned by SYS and SYSTEM. Some other tablespaces might be
    included as well when they contain objects owned by SYS and SYSTEM.
    SQL> select distinct tablespace_name
    from dba_segments where owner in ('SYS', 'SYSTEM');
    - SWITCH DATAFILE ALL;
    Make the changes in the pathname (set by SET NEWNAME) active in the
    controlfile.
    - ALTER DATABASE DATAFILE ... ONLINE
    Online the datafiles which are restored and have to be recovered.
    - RECOVER DATABASE SKIP FOREVER TABLESPACE ......;
    You need to specify the complete list of tablespaces which will not be
    recovered. Else the recovery fails, that it cannot dentify/file the
    tablespace datafile. The SKIP FOREVER clause causes RMAN to take the
    datafiles offline using the DROP option. Only use skip forever when the
    specified tablespaces will be dropped after opening the database. I.e.,
    all tablespaces except the one which contains your data.
    The recovery of RMAN, checks the datafileheaders, to get a starting point
    for the recovery.
    2: Open auxiliary database with RESETLOGS
    $ sqlplus /
    SQL> alter database open resetlogs;
    This step should ALWAYS be executed outside RMAN via SQL*Plus. If the open
    is executed in RMAN it may effect the primary database's entry in the RMAN
    catalog. Backups will fail with messages like:
    RMAN-20011 "target database incarnation is not current in recovery catalog"
    3: Export the table
    The database is recovered and open, so it can be used by export.
    Example:
    $ exp userid=system/<password> file=table.dmp
    tables=(<owner>.<tablename>, ...) rows=Y
    4: Import the export-dump
    Import the data of the dropped table back into the primary/production database.
    Example:
    $ imp userid=system/<password> file=table.dmp ignore=Y
    5: Remove this AUX/DUMMY database
    Shutdown and remove all files associated with this database. It has satisfied
    your purpose. I.e., to give you an export of this table.

  • Why arhivelogs are required for performing FLASHBACK database

    Please explain. Thanks.

    Documentation says :
    It is similar to conventional point in time recovery in its effects, allowing you to return a database to its state at a time in the recent past.
    Flashback Database is, however, much faster than point-in-time recovery, because it does not require restoring datafiles from backup and it requires applying fewer changes from the archived redo logs.
    It is reason of Flashback require archivelog mode on database.
