Flat File upload into Planning Book
Hi all,
I want to upload the data into the Planning Book through "Upload Data" in Interactive Demand Planning. While saving data it is saving perfectly in .CSV file. While i made some changes in the Csv file and i have tried to load the data again into the Planning Book, the values are not coming perfectly. The period values are distributing to other periods.
For Ex:
01/2008 02/2008
Adjusted Statistical Forecast Qty 613,456 756,456
I have saved the data in a .csv file and made changes to the values like 613,457 and 756,460 like that and saved the changes. But while coming into the Planning Book it is coming like this
01/2008 02/2003 03/2008 04/2008
613 456 756 456
but i need to shoe the values as like as i uploaded data.
Any one pl suggest me what are the changes/ prereuisites i have to take in this particular scenario.In the mean time it is very urgent.
You mentioned that "I made some changes in the CSV file." in your first message. What software did you use? A text editor? A spreadsheet program? A database program?
I usually inspect the downloaded file first using Microsoft Notepad or similar. See what character is being used as the delimiter, and see what characters (if any) are being used to indicate a string field. This format will probably be what SAP will expect during the upload.
I usually edit CSV files in Microsoft Excel if they are not too big.
If you are using Excel, you should also heed the advice of Sean Mawhorter. Make sure your version of Excel is using the proper delimiter when it exports to CSV. Various versions commonly found in Europe use "." as default. For that matter, SAP may be expecting something other than a comma as a delimiter. There is no universally accepted industry standard for CSV format.
Once you have exported to CSV, again inspect the file to ensure that the format matches the downloaded format.
There is a basic primer on CSV files in Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comma-separated_values

Hi,
What kind of questions are needed to be asked (from client) for requirements gathering for a flat file upload (from legacy system) to BI? Basically what are all the questions that i need to ask them to make sure I have all information for designing a flat file extractor?
ThanksI would ask them what do they want to report on from the legacy system and is data already in R/3? I would also ask what kind of data is stored in the legacy system .... inventory, financial data, sales, etc ... Once I knew that, I would ask what do they want to report on .... stock quantities/costs, gl account data, revenue, deliveries, etc....
Then I would ask, do you want this to be seperated from the R/3 datastream? More than likely this will be yes, if not, fight to keep it seperated and possible in it's own cube/ODS and combine in a multiprovider (you need to use the same 0material, 0customer, 0vendor, 0gl_account info objects if you want to combine nicely on a multiprovider).
If the database the legacy system is on is either SQL Server or Informix or Oracle, you may want to consider DBConnect and connect directly to their tables.
In all cases, I try to avoid bringing everything in "just because we may need it". If the system is legacy and it's been a legacy for 2 years, see what people keep going back for and grab that data only. If someone claims to need data, but have not sought it out for 2 years, then the probably don't need it.
Also, check the granularity of the data. Do they need individual documents for legal reasons? Can you summarize the data? What are they going to use the data for?

Question on "Flat file upload into BW-BPS - How-to paper"
The How-to document for "How to Load a Flat file into BW-BPS using a Web Browser" discusses that the function modules "UPB_ALV_EXIT" and "UPB_ALV_EXIT_INIT" can be used as templates for copying the code to a zfunction module.
We are on BW 3.5 and cannot locate the above functions. I see there is a function "UPF_EXIT_INIT_EXAMPLE_01" that contains import,export and tables settings that matches one of the above functions but the code does not match to what is referred to in the document.
Does anyone know of a similar function that refers to the same code in the "UPB_ALV_EXIT" and "UPB_ALV_EXIT_INIT" FUNCTION MODULES" in the How-to-paper.
Thanks,
KumarHi Kumar,
I think those functions mentioned in the "How to .." guide are replaced with the following two functions that will also provide the correct interface:
TEMPLATE_EXIT
TEMPLATE_EXIT_INIT
They are part of function group UPFX. This function group will also provide the rest of the function examples for functions of type 'Exit'.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards,

BPC delta flat file upload possible?
Hi experts,
Ive been trying to find an answer of whether or not it is possible to retain member data on manual flat file upload into a dimension. We have created a dimension (employee) and have created some dummy nodes member data and would like to determine if it is possible to then keep this manual member data while manually loading further member data through flat file load. Is this sort of manual flatfile delta load possible? If so how? What is best practice here?
Also, is it possible to load data into a dimension using two methods IE manual upload file and then another form (IE BW load) without overwriting data? Im assuming this is where the merge data option comes in to play.
Any guidance would be much appreciated.
Regards,
DanielleHi Danielle,
While uploading data, if you have added dimension members manually, then, it never gets deleted untill and unless you specify for it.
In your scenario, you have created dummy members and want to upload data thru flat file. Then, the data will be uploaded only for those members for which you want to upload data, rest of the members will display the old data.
As you rightly said earlier, while running data manager package, you need to select MERGE option instead of REPLACE & CLEAR data values. This keeps the old data intact and adds the new ones as well.
Hope this clarifies further.

Loading of flat file (csv) into PSA – no data loaded
Hi BW-gurus,
We have an issue regarding loading a flat file (csv) into PSA using an infopackage u2013 (BI 7.0)
The infopackage has been used for a while. Prior the consultants with SAP_ALL-profile have run the infopackage. Now we want a few super users to run the infopackage.
We have created a role for the super users, including authorization objects:
Data Warehousing objects: S_RS_ADMWB
Activity: 03, 16, 23, 63, 66
Data Warehousing Workbench obj: INFOAREA, INFOOBJECT, INFOPACKAG, MONITOR, SOURCESYS, WORKBENCH
Data Warehousing Workbench u2013 datasource (version > BW 3.x): S_RS_DS
Activity: All
Datasource: All
Subobject for New DataSource: All
Sourcesystem: FILE
Data Warehousing Workbench u2013 infosource (flex update): S_RS_ISOUR
Activity: Display, Maintain, Request
Application Component: All
InfoSource: All
InfoSource Subobject: All values
As mentioned, the infopackage in question, has been used by consultants with SAP_ALL-profile for some time, and been working just fine. When the super users with the new role are executing the infopackage, the records are found, but not loaded into PSA. The load seems to be stuck, but no error message occurs. The file we are trying to load contains only 15 records.
Details monitor:
Overall status: Missing messages or warnings (yellow)
Requests (messages): Everything ok (green)
-> Data request arranged (green)
-> Confirmed with: OK (green)
Extraction (messages): Errors occurred (yellow)
-> Data request received (green)
-> Data selection scheduled (green)
-> 15 Records sent (0 Records received) (yellow)
-> Data selection ended (green)
Transfer (IDocs and TRFC): Missing messages (yellow)
Processing (data packet): Warnings received (yellow)
-> Data package 1 (? Records): Missing messages (yellow)
-> Inbound processing (0 records): Missing messages (yellow)
-> Update PSA (0 Records posted): Missing messages (yellow)
-> Processing end: Missing messages (yellow)
Have we forgotten something? Any assistance will be highly appreciated!
Cheers,
Anne Therese S. JohannessenHi,
Try to use the transaction ST01 to trace the authorization of the upload with the SAP_ALL.
And the enhance your Profile for the super user.

Hi Marc,
I am following the July version of how-to. When generating the BSP page, I am told checkbrowser.htm and js.htm are not available. When I create a checkbrowser.htm and point the include to js3.htm, which is one of the page fragment available, there are a few other errors coming out. What am I missing?Do you already know if the flat file upload is possible from a multi planning area? Because I get the error message that my multi planning area does not exist when executing the function.

How do I share files uploaded into the Creative Cloud with other creative cloud members?
How do I share files uploaded into the Creative Cloud with other creative cloud members?
Should be easy. Try this...
In Thumbnails view, click the little triangle (pointing downward) in the lower-right corner of the asset you want to share.
In the blue icon bar that appears, click the Share icon (the third icon from the left, just right of the trash icon). The Share dialog should pop up.
In the Share dialog, enter the email address of the person with whom you want to share the asset, then click the Send Email button - they'll receive an email with a link to your asset. OR
You can also copy a link to the asset and then paste that into your own email client if you prefer. To do that, click the Link icon (looks like a "chain", and is to the right of the email "envelope" icon) - then click the Copy Link button.
Note that the Share options won't be available if your asset is set to "Private" - you can control whether an asset can be viewed (or downloaded) by others by clicking the Public/Private control (green or red "lock" icon).
You can also access the same Share controls if you click on the file to see it one-up (you can do this from either Thumbnails view or List view); click the Share icon near the upper right corner of the browser window (to the right of the asset name).
Hope that helps. -
Problem in Flat File Uploading
Hi everyone
During a flat file uploading, I get a message for each record of my SKU (Stock Keeping Unit), for eg for SKU 1017023, I got a message
<b>Value '1017023 ' for characteristic PISKU is in external format RRSV 9</b>
PISKU is the field name.
The whole extraction is failing.
Kindly provide me some suggestions as soon as poosible!!
If possible mail me at
[email protected]
Regards
Gajendra SinghHi,
It seems there is a space in the value '1017023 '.You have to edit in PSA and then send it again else delete the request and change the flat file entry and reload the data.
Hope this helps

BPS Flat File Upload Error Messages
Hi,
I am using the BPS flat file upload and am getting error messages. These error messages are coming from the user exit in the characteristics relationships. Unfortunately the message does not indicate which line on the upload file the error is for. In the user exit it does not pass the line no of the flat file that is being processed.
Does anyone have any ideas how the message could be enhanced to indicate the line in error or if there is another exit I could perform the validation in?
regards
Paul CairncrossHi Sai,
The issue is not the particular message. The message is in fact my message in the user exit in the characteristic relationships. The issue is when using the flat file upload the message does not indicate which line in the file the message apply's to. Looking at the userexit no line number is passed. This is not a problem in the web as the specific line is highlighted when the user is keying in the data.

Create a flat-file upload for a BO XAI Inbound Service?
Hello all,
If we don't have a schema defined for a BO XAI Inbound Service, how can we create the XSL and the flat-file upload schema file for it.
Any advice?
Regards,
KerrI don't have problem to create the XSLT mapping.
But because it is to create a flat-file upload for a Business Object XAI Inbound Service, it doesn't have a schema on the server as to the thread Create Schema for Business Object to use for XAI Inbound Service?
And I can't create that flat-file upload without a schema on the server.
Or I can use the BO XAI Inbound Service WSDL instead to create the mapping for the flat-file upload.

When you read the multiple recordset strucutre file then each record in txt file should have an header from which you can identiy which segment it should go.. and you identiy it by using the keyfiledValue in file adapter
<root>
<header1> 0..1
<f1>
<f2>
<f3>
<header2> 0..1
<f4>
<f5>
<f6>
<item> 1..unbounded
<f7>
<f8>
<f9>
<f10>
<f11>
<f12>
</item>
for this input file
abc def ghi jkl mno pqr
123 123 123 123 123 123
456 456 456 456 456 456
abc def ghi can be read using the file adater to header 1 usinfg key field value, but using the same file adapter you cannt put GHI into header2.
else you should read whole row abc def ghi jkl mno pqr in single filed and write an UDF to split data to header1 and Header 2
similarly you have to take care for item records also
if your inout file is something like this
abc def ghi
jkl mno pqr
123 123 123 123 123 123
456 456 456 456 456 456
abc identifies to Header 1
JKL for Header 2 so on...
read the whole line in single field and write UDF to Split to header 1 and header 2 similary for item.
