Flex 2 on a Mac

Hello, I am just back from Max 2006, where I attended a few
seminars on Flex Builder 2... I obtained the beta version of the
program for the Mac and was assured by all that it would work with
the extensions for Coldfusion which came with the Mac beta
version..... I updated my version of CF to the latest version and
followed the directions precisely that were included with the Cold
Fusion extension.... but when I tried to connect to the CF wizard
within the program I was greeted by a dialog box that informed me
that my platform was not supported... Has anyone been successful in
this endeavor? Please let me know...

Hmmm... might have found the problem now. the eclipse filder
belonged to another user.....
Duh.... I've now deleted the Adobe Flex Builder 3 Plug-in
folder, and removed folders and files starting with
com.adobe.flexbuilder under my eclipse. I'm changing owner, retry
or maybe install the stand-alone version... We'll see..

Apple replaced my hard drive on my Imac. I'm lucky I backed up everything on a Seagate Go Flex Desk for Mac external drive via Time Machine . I followed directions in order to restore my iphoto library , but I can't seem to find it on my computer. Are the files locked?

No reason to assume they are locked. The library will be restored to the location it was backed up from, unless you specified somewhere else. Have you looked in your Pictures Folder?

URGENT!!! Flex Event error - Mac OS X 10.5

I have spent some hours working on debugging my code and this
is the first time I think I found a bug that isn't mine. It appears
to be a bug with Flash player 9 on Mac OS X (10.5). In short, file
selections fail.
The same .swf file works fine on windows and worked on OS
10.49 before I upgraded a few days ago. Last night I began working
on the uploader portion of an application I am building and could
not figure out why the uploader class I made last week decided to
not work at all this week. After a good night's rest and an early
start I began my debugging effort again, this time copying the
compiled .swf file to my windows machine and testing it there (but
only after another hour or so of googling for better examples). It
worked. I tried the same file on the mac and it failed. After
testing the file in Firefox 2, Safari 3, and Opera, I decided that
it must be a bug introduced by the release of the new Mac OS. At
the time I wasn't sure exactly what the problem was but with a
little digging I discovered that the root of the problem (as far as
Flex developers are concerned) lies in the failure of the user's
file selection to trigger an event.
If anyone would like to try this out please use the link
below. It is not my example but it produces the same error that my
code produces. If you try on a non-mac OS 10.5 system you will be
able to select files and they will be added to the list. On a mac
10.5 system you will be able to select files but they will not
appear in the file list.

I wasn't sure exactly what to post it as so I put it under
"Flex" and then chose "Events". Its actually kind of confusing how
they have it set up. At any rate - I just checked it and apparently
someone actually looked at it.... The "resolution" is a bit cryptic
though. You can see the report and comments here:

From what I can tell it seems that they determined it is a
Flash player bug (something I actually suspected myself but didn't
really have the capability to test.) Seems that they may have
reposted this error on the Flash bug report system... not sure
though.

Flex 3 and Mac os 10.6.3 Scrolling Issue

I am trying to understand why I am getting Scrolling vertically and horizontally on my VBox and HBox container even though I explicitly code it as verticalScrollPolicy="off" horizontalScrollPolicy="off". The funny thing is that it works correctly as I want on my Intel Boxes with various browsers to not show any scrolling, but as soon as I view it on the mac I get the scrolling issues.
Anyone know if they experienced this problem and any workarounds.

Not sure what's happening with your code, you'll have to post an example that shows this happening to you.
On OS X 10.6.4 and Flex 3.5, it works as it should.
I made this as an example and view source is enabled. I have two VBoxes, one with scrolling disabled and one with it enabled.

Install Flex SDK on MAC OS

Hi Folks,
I have downloaded Flex SDK (for all platforms), but on SDK's bin folder contains only exe files. Is it is a correct version or is there any seperate version available for mac machine? Kindly let me know please.

Hi Arun,
Where did you download the SDK from? I just downloaded the SDK from http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=flexsdk and verified that the bin directory contains both Windows and Mac executables.

The problem is that the event isn't getting triggered. The wrong abap code in the methode.
The syntax of the Methode ONACTIONONCLICKGANTTCHART is not incorrect, but does not make the correct things.

Flex on a Mac

If I create a Flex file (website or Air) with the Windows
version will it run a Mac?

I don't know air so I am not sure if there are any cotchas,
but the created swf should be-able to run on any platform that has
flash installed (with some specific version) I do believe that
flash version 9 is required.
I am on a mac and my windows users run my swf files in there
favorite browsers to managere there datasets.

Flex Builder 3 will not work on Mac

Flex Builder 3 & Mac OSX:
The hard disk on my mac failed, lost everything, including
Flex Builder 2. I installed a new hard disk, and downloaded the
"trial" of Flex Builder 3 (FB 3). The software seemed to install
fine(no errors in the install log).
However, when I run FB 3, the default front page does not
load, and tells me that the flash player as stopped because of a
un-safe operation. I think okay, that is fine, but I do like the
page with the links to the docs, and adobe resources. I try to
build an app, default just dragged a button on the stage, and
complied. However, the page does not compile. I only get the "grey"
page, with no button.
After this I re-installed the flash player (9.0.115), but
still no love. I have re-installed FB 3, but the same results.
I am using Mac OS X (power PC). Can anybody help me. I am a
student at the University of Hawaii, and I am teaching myself Flex.
I am thinking that the error might be with the flash player, and I
am trying to install flash CS3, thinking that if I can get the
stand alone flash player that way, maybe then this will work.

I just installed FB 3 again, but still no love, yikes! I
don't get it FB 2 was painless,...
I have the same issues, and safari does not handle any flex
apps, just a blank(grey page). Can I ask a favor? Can you check
this link, a flex charting app. It can view it perfectly in Camino,
but just a blank page in safari. Could you check this link in
safari?

Maybe I need to take a on-line course(bring that I am in
hawaii) to learn how to get everything set up.
I send a bug report to adobe, and I am hoping that somebody

Well I have blogged a lot about my working with flex on the
mac (
http://simb.net).
But the quick run down is that due to a bug in java on the
mac, flex builder is not due out for the mac until after the
initial release.
However because the sdk has been made available you can use
any text / xml editor you like to write and compile swf's using
flex on the mac. Because Flex Data Services are just a j2ee server,
you can already use it on the mac. And they do have the Flash 8.5
player for the mac as well.
So with the exception of Flex Builder as an IDE there is
nothing keeping us from developing on our macs

Unless you deleted the application, you most certainly do have Time Machine. There is a prefence pane for it in the system settings, and the application itself is in the Applications folder.
If for some reason you prefer not to use Time Machine, then there are a number of third-party synchronization applications available such as Carbon Copy Cloner, SuperDuper, ChronoSync, and a number of others.

Where is HTMLLoader.pdfCapability looking for Adobe Reader to be installed on a mac?

I have already tried to re-install Adobe reader, have accepted end-user agreement, and now at a loss.
HTMLLoader.pdfCapability == HTMLPDFCapability.STATUS_OK is always coming back as false for me, so I am hoping someone can shed some light on why.

Did you find out what was happening? I'm having similar trouble with Flex/AIR on Mac which started happening after accepting an automatic upgrade to Reader 11. However I am finding that reinstalling 9.4 then letting it update to 9.5.2 will get it working again. At that point I have 9 installed which AIR uses and 11 installed which Finder uses as default for opening PDFs. AIR breaks again if I reinstall 11 and I have to repeat the process with installing 9.4 and the 9.5.2 update again. So it's not a very customer friendly solution. Hoping you might have found a better answer?

Question about BlazeDS on a remote machine

So, i am running BlazeDS on my windows machine because that is where i have my Java stuff all setup and entrenched.
However, i develop Flex on my mac because i like how it works, and i have Flash Builder on Mac.
I want to set up a BlazeDS project, but it's asking for the root installation folder. How can i do this if it is on a remote machine?
The first answer that comes to mind is to map the Tomcat folder on my mac, but i don't know if that will work right.
any ideas/suggestions?

Installation error occurred when the air is built from another machine.

The senerio is that .
AIR SDK: 2.0
I orginally built an AIR versioned 1.05 from a mac 10.0.6 with FlashBuilder 4.6 and now I used the same code based and same application.xml to build a newer version 1.06 from a windows 7 x64 FlashBuilder 4.5 then i got the following error
The application could not be installed because an application with that name already exists at the selected installation location. Try installing to a different location.
I have put publisherID into the descriptor xml.
Could somebody please help

I found out the cause.
What I do:
Copy the Flex sdk from mac to pc directly.
More info:
The reason why i didnt do the above step at the begining because there are so many hidden files are generated by mac and which let the flashbuilder in PC keep prompting error.As a result, I manually deleted all the hidden files (more than 2k files) and build release with that sdk and finally the installation error not show.
Also,I found that although both mac and pc are using Flex 4.1 sdk ,may be with different build number? The point is I will/may face the same problem if I decide to update the flex sdk from 4.1 to newers version.
This is a very big problem because there are so many ppl installed the old version and they may have to manually uninstall and install again and I will receive so many phone calls for support but which is fine if they are all hot girls..
