  • Flex Builder 3 on Vista Home Premium 64-bit

Has anyone tried Flex Builder 3 on Vista Home Premium 64-bit? Does it work? I see Vista is supported but the requirements page says nothing  specifically about Flex Builder on  64-bit Vista.
I also see some older questions on the topic in the forums, but nothing recent and no complete answers.

other Vista/FB users I've talked to feel the same
Well that's always an easy one..
I talked to a million FB/Vista users and they all say it's blazing fast..
    See how easy that is?
I suggest you look into optimizing your system and/or look at what might be causing this.
But all I can say is FB3 sure isn't slow.
I'm surprised it runs decent for you
    Well, I'm surprised you're surpised
I still have to see a MAC outperform anything compared to my PC.

  • Anyone been able to install Flex Builder 2 on Vista?

I am trying to figure out if there is a way to get Flex
    Builder 2 to install
on Vista RTM yet. I can get Flex Builder 2.0 installed but
    when I try to
perform the 2.0.1 update I get an error from the Install
    Anywhere
application that I need to "select another location to
    extract the installer
to" but no matter where I install it or if I try to run it
    from the temp
folder as the error is displayed it doesn't work.
I know this is only like the 2nd day or so Vista has been
    available to the
public but I am just wondering if anyone has had any luck so
    far with
perhaps a beta or the business release?
    Thanks,
    -Dan

In case anyone else is having this trouble I found out a way
    that I think is
able to update Flex Builder to 2.0.1. If you download the
    updater on an XP
machine then use WinRAR to extract the files in the .exe you
    should be able
to move that whole folder onto the Vista machine then run the
FlexBuilder2_Updater.exe file from there without any problems
    or errors (I
set that to have admin and run in XP SP2 compatibility just
    to make sure).
So far it seems to be working fine.

  • Flex 2 App on Vista

    Hello,
I have 2 applications that I built with Flex Builder 2 and
when they are run on a Vista Machine with IE 7 and a user types in
some text, some of the user's keystrokes are missing. Has anyone
    else experienced this/have a cause/found a solution? This only
happens on the vista machine, on Windows XP captures no keystrokes
    are missing. Thanks

I tested a simple app as you requested and I was NOT able to
    reproduce the behavior.

  • Vista and flex

i've experienced several problems with flex since buying a
new computer preinstalled with vista, solved one, and several
remain unsolved and frustrating! i understand flex isn't officially
supported under vista yet, but if anyone else has had similar
problems and found solutions, i'd love to hear any suggestions or
    ideas.
the first problem that i was able to solve was that i found
that i needed to run as administrator. the solution to this problem
was a little difficult as i work at an organisation that doesn't
provide admin access to the employees, but i've got an exemption to
that rule for the purposes of flex.
the second problem was that the display has refresh issues.
every time i open or close windows etc, i can't actually see the
content of the windows properly until i scroll or resize the
    window.
problem three is that every time i open up flex after turning
on my computer flex no longer recognises network drives. this means
that all my open projects on network drives close, and any shared
libraries on network drives that my local projects use close,
    causing 'problems'.
i have found a solution to this is to select 'Open file',
'Computer'. All of my network drives then appear with a cross
through them, indicating that they are not available. despite this
cross, i am then able to double click on each network drive, which
seems to activate them. i am then able to manually open closed
projects, and then find i often have to refresh these projects, and
reselect shared libraries. this solution is workable, but with four
network drives, several projects and several shared libraries, it
would be useful to not have to waste 15 minutes doing this at the
beginning of every day(and after every crash!). has anyone else
experienced this and found a better solution?
    cheers
    craig

Glad to hear I'm not the only one muddling through Flex
Builder 2 and Vista. I just started a new job and my PC that they
ordered for me has Vista (bummer). After an hour and a half and
setting the compatibility settings and running as Admin I was able
    to get it installed.
I haven't had problems with the network drive issue but I'm
still working through the Total Training videos.
I agree the refresh problem is highly annoying. My boss is
also running Vista and suggested switching to the 'Windows Classic'
display theme. I've done that with slight improvement but still not
    perfect.
Is anyone at Adobe aware of these problems and working on
solutions? Or have we heard when Vista will be officially
    supported?

  • Windows vista with flex 2

I have problems to install flex 2 with windows vista.. it
stops when installing something in registry.. Have someone problems
    installing?
    I need a solution..
    Many thanks.

I just checked on this because I've gotten a few messages
    about this.
As I remember, you only need to tell the setup.exe installer
to run in compatibility mode (properties >> compatibility
    >> compatibility for windows xp service pack 2).
Also in that same properties tab there is a check box under
the privilege level to Run as Administrator. Check that box. And as
far as I can tell thats the only box that needs to be checked once
    the program is installed.
Hope this helps / clears up any confusion.

  • Install FB 2 on vista got java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no swt-win32-3139 in java.library.path

The following is a re-posting of a thread regarding
UnsatisfiedLinkError issue. One author posted the workaround below.
That workaround was posted multiple times by mistake, and the
author asked Moderator to delete the extra posting.
An operating error caused the topic to be deleted instead of
the individual messages. I am reposting the content of the thread,
and apologize to the authors who participated in this thread
    before.
    Workaround :
I experienced the same issue when I tried to install Flex on
a new Vista system. Here's how I corrected it:
    1) Navigate to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 2\plugins
    2) Look for the file
"org.eclipse.swt.win32.win32.x86_3.1.2.jar". You will need to open
this in a file compression program such as WinRar or WinZip. If you
don't have such a program you can try:
2a) Copy (make sure you COPY, not MOVE) the file to another
    location, such as your desktop.
2b) Rename the file with a ".zip" extension (i.e. change
".jar" to ".zip"). NOTE: You will not see the file extension if
your system is configured to hide extensions. In this case, open a
Windows Explorer window ("My Computer", etc.) and press the "Alt"
key. A menu bar will appear. Select "Tools -> Folder Options".
Select the "View" tab, and look for "Hide extensions for known file
types". Uncheck the box, then click OK.
2c) You should now be able to right-click the file and use
Vista's built-in .zip extraction to extract the contents to a
    folder.
    3) Within the org.eclipse.swt.win32.win32.x86_3.1.2.jar file
is a file called "swt-win32-3139.dll". Copy this file to
C:\Windows\System32\ (You will be asked for a confirmation when you
    do this).
Once that is done, Flex should run correctly. You can now
delete the copy of the .jar file that you made, as well as the
folder created by Vista's .zip extraction (if applicable).
    Hope this helps!

  • Vista 64 bit support

    Hi All,
I'm thinking about replacing my currently aging laptop with
an HP Pavilion tx1000z. I have the option of getting Vista 64 bit.
I've poked around and haven't been able to find definitely whether
or not Flex Builder 3 works on Vista 64.
Any Vista 64 bit users here who have had success/failure with
Flex Builder 3 on Vista Ultimate 64?
I'm interested also in any feedback you have on other Adobe
    software (e.g., AIR SDK/runtime, Dreamweaver, Fireworks --
    particularly web related software).
    -Josh

    Eclipse doesn't officially support Vista 64 until 3.4 M1
    http://www.eclipse.org/swt/R3_4/new_and_noteworthy.html
That said, you can run a 32-bit version of eclipse with a
32-bit JRE. I'm not really sure whether we will have official
support for this configuration in Flex Builder 3. At this point
there is no 64-bit Flash Player either.

  • Java projects in Flash Builder

    Hi all,
I previously used Flex Builder 3 on Vista x64.   Inside Flex Builder 3, I had both flex projects and java projects.  I needed both because I use BlazeDS and kept the java code in a separate project.  I would only like 1 development environment.
I recently upgraded to Windows 7 x64 and went ahead and upgraded my Flex Builder 3 to Flash Builder 4.
It was a simple measure to import my flex projects into Flash Builder 4.
When I tried to import the Flex 3 java projects into Flash Builder 4, Flash Builder responded with:
" The folder does not contain a valid Flash Builder Project."
Short of installing Eclipse, a 32bit version of java, and using the Flash Builder Plugin, is there a way to get my java projects to import and compile in Flash Builder 4 while running on Windows 7 x64?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts,
    - Steve
P.S.  I may have had to import something special to get it to work in Flex Builder 3, I just can't remember.

If you're trying to compile Java projects in FB4, you'll need to add eclipse's Java Development Tools (JDT).
You can add the JDT this way:
    - quit FB4, and launch with "Run as Administrator" from the context (right-click) menu
    - from the Help menu choose "Install New Software..."
    - in the resulting dialog click "Add", and enter a name of your choosing such as "Galileo Updates" in the Name field
    - enter this URL into the Location field:
    http://download.eclipse.org/releases/galileo/
    - hit OK and then browse the available Galileo Updates
    - select Programming Languages > Eclipse Java Development Tools
    - continue on with the usual Update workflow, and after finishing it will prompt you to relaunch automatically.
Allow FB4 to relaunch, and you should now have the JDT available for compiling Java projects.
    -Chris

  • Flex 3 App having problems with Vista/Flash10

    Hello Forum Folks,
I have a small little wizard/form app in Flex 3.0 that runs wonderfully in Flash 9 on a Windows XP box.  However, when I try to run it on a Vista/Flash 10 box, the VBox that contains the wizard is a blank screen.  I get the blank screen only when I return to the wizard from being in it previously (while staying inside the Flex app).  I can see that the wizard code is pulling data from my server with no problem when the blank screen occurs.  However, the browser (I'm using Firefox 3.0.1) states that it is still downloading data from my server.  Using HttpFox I can see that all requests to server are answered with an HTTP 200 (OK) response, so I don't think it's the server/client communication....
Anyone run into this before?  Any idea on how to force the VBox to display or refresh?  I've tried invalidateDisplayList - but no positive results.
    Thanks in advance,
    --Andy

Not really a solution but a work-around for the problem:  When I revisist the wizard, I made the handle holding the wizard equal to null, then created a new wizard  and re-attached it as a child:
    this.wizardHandle = null;
    this.wizardHandle = new WizardApp();
    this.addChild(this.WizardHandle);
This kept the blank screen from appearing... which is good, but doesn't fix the underlying problem... whatever that happen to be.  So if anyone still has a guess I would be glad to hear it.
    Thanks,
    Andy

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Wayne

Thank you for your response. Being a newbie to Microsoft
Vista (which I recommend the world to reject) I don't know exactly
how to describe how I got the install of Flex Builder 2 to work.
But, a friend of mine walked me through turning off the Windows
Defender security settings as well as all security settings related
to my user's setting. I believe I disabled two Vista "features",
and then the install worked. The only thing was that the checkboxes
during the install program did not appear, but clicking the
respective questions themselves did the trick (i.e. do you agree to
software license?' and 'install Flash player on IE / Firefox?')
Sorry I can't be more specific... but, for anyone that has
this problem, in the words of my friend, "Turn everything off in
Vista you can, then try it!".
    Good luck,
    -sutton

  • Flex builder for 64-bit vista

    Hey,
Flex Builder (Eclipse) is bugging quite a lot in vista 64-bit, for example some of the views in propertise won't show, is there something I can do to get this fixed?

  • Flex Builder 3.0.2 on Windows Vista 64bits

    Hello,
I've installed Flex Builder 3.2 on Windows Vista Home Premium
64-bits, everything seems to work fine except for a detail.
When I go into a project's property panel, specifically:
    Flex Build Path or
Flex Modules, in the first window it should display two tabs
at the top and the list with the source path you added to your
project. For some reason these are not showing.
    Screenshot here:
    http://img80.imageshack.us/my.php?image=screenshotjq8.jpg
I've tryed disabling themes, effects, windows sidebar, etc
    but the problem persist.
I'd like to know if any had this issue and if you did what
did you do to fix it. It's not like you can't work on flex because
of this but it is annoying.
    Any comment is appreciated!

The solution is to disable Logitech SetPoint software. I have no idea why but finally found it posted somewhere else here and it does in fact solve the problem. I notified Logitech, don't really expect them to fix it.
You don't have to uninstall it, just quit out of it and if you run Flex a lot, remove SetPoint from the Startup folder so it doesn't run automatically.
You don't even have to restart Flex or anything, just quit SetPoint and open the project properties again, instant fix.

    Hello,
I can' run Flex Builder 3 even with a simple program that
displays a label text. Systematically I get the error message
    windows: "no Windows-disk"

    0x759E023C etc."
    My Profile is :
    - OS : windows vista professional
    - Implementation of Flex builder : install and run as
    administrator
    - Authorization of flex program builder by windows Firewall
    Anything else required ?
Thanks in advance for your hep
