FLVPlayback Component video and skin as one swf

Is it possible when publishing a Flash CS4 file to have the Video swf and the Skin swf be in one swf file?
I have a Flash CS4 (AS2) file that has a FLVPlayback Component. When I publish or test movie 2 swfs are output. I need only 1 swf as I am then going to insert this 1 swf into a Captivate 4 project.
When I insert the video swf by itself into Captivate 4, I do not have a play bar/skin.
If it is not possible to publish as one swf, can someone please tell me how I can insert the 2 swfs into a Captivate file and get them to work?
Thanks in advance.

My project is called JumpVideo.
The only 2 items in my library are the FLVPlaybackComponent and a Combo box.
I have imported a video using the FLVPlaybackComponent and have selected the SteelExternalPlaySeekMute skin to go with the playback.
The video has defined cue points. The combo box has two values. When the first is selected it jumps to the start of the video. When the second is selected it jumps to the cue point.
When I publish there are two swfs that are produced; the project swf itself (JumpVideo.swf) and the skin (SteelExternalPlaySeekMute.swf).
I would like there to be only one swf published (i.e. the skin is within the JumpVideo.swf).
Is this possible?
The swfs will then need to be inserted into Captivate 4 as animation.
If 1 swf cannot be published, then can you perhaps help with how I can insert the JumpVideo.swf and the skin swf into Captivate and have it work as it does in Flash CS4?

  • Video and skin in single swf file... sigh....

    Hi all,
This may be an obvious one to some of you but I have been
tearing my hair out for several days and cannot find detailed
information on what I am trying to do anywhere...
I have a requirment to convert several short DV video files
to SWF so I can publish on a web page. The finished products need
to be a single SWF files.
Importantly they also need to include a control skin.
I have been trying to use both Flash CS3 and Captivate 3 to
do this with no success. (I have found info on how to do it with
Captivate, i.e. remove borders etc, but that presents some other
problems which I won't go in to here as it's a different topic)
Is what I am trying to do possible inside Flash ? Surely it
is?! Can I import a DV video, add a control skin and publish it all
    as a single SWF ?
I believe there are shareware third party products that can
do this, but I really want to use Flash and I can't understand why
it appears to be so difficult. (unless I am missing something
    obvious...)
So if anyone coudl help that would be fantastic, even if
that's just pointing me in the direction of some reading material..
    Cheers.

    oconndav,
    > Is what I am trying to do possible inside Flash ? Surely

    It is. :)

You can, but be aware that video -- especially sizable video
    -- works
best when the FLV file is situated outside the SWF. I
    understand that your
project requirements dictate otherwise, which makes this a
    bit of a
challenge, but you can put everything into a single SWF. It
    just means
you'll be building your elements by hand and will control the
    video as if it
were a movie clip (that is, a MovieClip class instance)
    instead of an
FLVPlayback instance or Video instance in conjunction with
    NetConnection and
    NetStream instances.

Well, again, heavy Video files aren't really designed to
    play inside
SWFs. For whatever reasons Macromedia/Adobe chose, video is
    ideally
designed to be controlled as an external asset.
In your case, you won't be able to use the FLVPlayback
    component. You
won't even be able to use the older Media components or the
    component-less
Video object solution. You'll import your video asset to the
    Library, place
it inside a movie clip symbol (which will stretch to an
    incredible length),
then place your movie clip on the Stage and give it an
    instance name. Once
it has an instance name, you can refer to it with
    ActionScript. The
MovieClip class entry of the ActionScript 2.0 Language
    Reference (or 3.0, if
you're uasing AS3) will give you everything you need to know
    (and can do)
    with movie clips.
ActionScript will give you access to the total number of
    frames of that
clip, as well as the current frame. You can tell the playhead
    to go to any
of its frames, play, stop, etc. In this way, you can mimic
    many of the
capabilities of the FLVPlayback component -- though with less
    precision.
The "skin" of your video player will be determined by you
    ... by button
symbols for the buttons (or you could use movie clips), as
    well as other
graphic elements. It's going to be a totally
    built-from-scratch project,
and you'll have to program the buttons yourself. How would
    you rate your
    comfort level with ActionScript?

  • Can i use both Component video and HDMI?

    Hi guys,
Im wondering if its possible to connect both Component video and HDMI on the ATV?
Its currently connected to HDMI on our main HD TV, however, the apartment we have has a strange setup in which you must send RF signals to a loop back in the main room to reach all other TV's.
We dont have the capital for either another flatscreen TV or a second Apple TV until next year - so currently we've got an older (see 2004) bulk of a CRT TV upstairs and my thought was i could route a signal to the RF loop back from the ATV and use my iphone remote to control what it plays to view upstairs.
For this id need a component to composite/rf convertor which ive found so sending the signal is no problem, but what would happen if i were to connect component cables as well as the HDMI, does the ATV output on both, or priortise the HDMI?

When both types of cable are connected to the tv at the same time, the HDMI connection will be on by default but the component is turned off... and what happens if the source to the HDMI cable is off - eg its plugged in but its got no where to send the signal, would it still not send to the component?.. You mean if the tv was off, same thing, HDMI would take precedence.
Are you sure about this, Winston? I have only 2 component (and 2 HDMI) inputs on my Panasonic HDTV. For this reason I invested in an Audio Authority Component Switcher (Model 1154A) a few years ago. When the TV device arrived I connected it directly to the HDTV via my HDMI-2 HDTV input and also connected the component video and optical audio to the switcher. I have no problem using the HDTV's input selector to switch back and forth between component and HDMI lines. While I admit I cannot split the screen between an HDMI input and anything else for simultaneous viewing, I can leave both lines plugged in and switch between the two lines. In addition, the activity light on the switcher indicates there is a signal present on the switcher even when I am watching the HDMI line. (Of course, this may simply be triggered by the switcher's optical audio signal since I normally watch the TV video via the HDMI line (with HDMI audio muted) and use the optical audio line to drive my receiver's AC3 decoder so I can enjoy 5.1 audio with my latest conversions.) Am, therefore, wondering if the OP may have the same capability and could then simply switch to a different input mode to "de-negotiate" his HDMI connection and allow access to whatever component device he needs as long as he doesn't need simultaneous viewing on both TVs.

  • Component video and HDMI at same time

Does anyone know if the AppleTV HDMI output and component video output are both active at the same time? (I want to send one to a plasma and the other to a projector, but I couldn't get anything out of the component output until I dosconnected the HDMI).

I think it would be too easy for us consumers if it worked as it should. I'd like to be able to set independent resolutions for Component vs HDMI AND have them both active, but it won't work like this. Bummer.
As to your problem, HDMI senses whether it is attached, and if it is attached, it takes precedence, disabling the component outputs. A simple albeit kludgy solution to your problem is to unplug the HDMI cable from the ATV when you want to use the Component outputs. (As your troubleshooting suggested... )

  • Video and audio (in one direction only) deteriorate after about 90 seconds

I begin a two-way video chat as normal, both parties can see and hear clearly. After about one and a half minutes of normal video chat, the person on the other end suddenly starts getting a highly pixelated image of me, and they start to lose chunks of audio from me. Meanwhile I continue to get a very nice clear video and audio from them. We usually end up closing the chat, because they are unable to hear or see me enough to continue.
The first 1.5 minutes or so is always clear, it starts after that. I always receive good audio and sound from the other party throughout the chat. I have never had problems receiving video/audio.
It happens with most (but not all) people I connect to. I am in California, and I always have this trouble when connecting to a relative in Connecticut. I have the problem again with one relative in Sydney Australia, but not with a different relative in Sydney. These are just a few examples by location.
I have repeatedly tested my connection speeds, and I have good up and down speeds - more than the minimum requirements. (My speed today is 8200 kb/s Down, 1309 kb/s up).
    I have also tried:
Checking my Quicktime settings - (set to 1.5 Mbps T1/Intranet/LAN)
Bypassing my Airport modem/router, by connecting directly by ethernet to my Comcast cable modem (which has no router built in)
Replaced the cable modem with a brand new one.
Changed locations - tried it at a friend's house, still had the same problem.
So, I think I have isolated the problem to my PowerBook. This PowerBook used to do iChats really well for at least 18 months. I have been having this issue for about 5 or 6 months now. I have no idea what the problem could be. Any tips would be much appreciated.
    Thanks, Martin
    My setup:
    ISP: Comcast Cable (Cable modem)
    Apple Airport Exteme Base Station
    Powerbook G4 1.67Ghz, 1 GB RAM, 80 GB HD
    O/S: Tiger 10.4.10
    iChat 3.1.8 (with Chax)
    External iSight camera

    With Comcast.
    Try rebooting the Modem.
This seems to refresh the connection in some manner.
Also speak to them. They may not admit any connection management but thing may "magically" get better.

  • IPod Classic, component video, and 480i

I have a Sanyo 27" CRT TV with component video in, but it only supports 480i. My [Sony] DVD player and Nintendo Wii work perfectly via the component input.
I just tried connecting an iPod Classic to the TV with the Apple Component Video Cable. I have audio...but no video.
Is something wrong here? Is the iPod Classic pushing out a 480p signal? Is there a way to tell the iPod Classic that I want 480i?
    Thanks

  • IPad, component video, and movies in HD?

I have an iPad 2 that I connect to my TV with a component video breakout--I know that an HDMI breakout is available, but I originally bought the component breakout to use with an iPod Classic and, well, it works with the iPad 2.
When I connect the iPad 2 to the TV, the TV says the connection is via 480p. Given this, is there any merit to paying the extra $1 to rent a movie in HD, or will SD be equally as good at this resolution?
    Thanks!

I have it figured out; please disregard the question.  Thanks!

  • Using iPOD video and Nano on one PC

Need help. I just got a 60 gb iPOD video and have been using iTunes on my PC for my Nano. If I download videos from the iTunes Music Store for my iPOD Video, will it cause a problem when I later plug in my Nano to update? I.E., is there a way for me to use my same iTunes library for both the iPOD Video and iPOD Nano without the Nano crashing because of the video content? Sorry, I'm new to this. I appreciate anyone's help. Thanks.

If you are adding a second iPod for your own use, just connect the new iPod to your computer and follow the on screen instructions. It will update from your existing library and in the case of the Nano you will not have a problem with videos as it is not designed to use them. Depending on the size of your library and the type of iPod you choose you can have it update the whole library, selected playlists or you can manage it manually. With the first option it will update everything. With the second option only the tracks in the selected playlists (rather than the entire music library) are downloaded to iPod when you connect. With the manual update option, you manage what goes into your iPod by dragging and dropping selected songs or playlists into iPod:
    Loading songs onto iPod automatically
    Managing content manually on iPod

  • RE:CS5: Video and sound are one, how do I seperate them?

I was using two cameras to do my work. One was a canon and the other a nikon. When I imported the canon footage it came in two parts audio and video but when I imported the nikon footage, there was no section of audio, there were both on video.
How do i seperate them? I don't want any of the audio from the video but want to add my own it.

Yes - I think Ann has the answer.  Imported files from some Canon cameras will have their audio track come in on Audio 4 while their video comes in on Video 1.  Frankly I see this as a bug but I'd love to hear the reason for this 'undocumented feature'.
    No its not a bug.
Here is a video explaining why.

  • 2 Ipods (video and nano) on one computer.  HOW?

I have a video ipod and a nano. I am trying to get them to share the same library, but am not having any luck. Can anyone let me know how to do this. The video ipod was originally set up on a different library (windows). I de-authorized it, but it won't sync. Will I lose all existing purchased music/videos in the process?

Each of you should create a separate playlist, with only the music you want.
Then open iTunes prefs -> iPod and set it to Automatically update only selected playlists.

  • Video and Pictures in one movie

I have movies from my digital camera that look best smaller than full screen to keep the pixilation to a minimum. When I string these movies together in iMovie they look great because the video is a small square in the centre of the screen - as soon as I add a photo(s) in between the video clips the entire project changes to full screen and the video looks not as good. What am I doing wrong?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. if it's the titles in movies (that were created by iPhoto) then create a standard slideshow in iDVD and add the movie file(s) to it. That will scale the movie to the TV safe area like iDVD does with still slideshows.

  • FLVPlayback component skinAutoHide problem

    Hi guys!
I have a problem with FLVPlayback component's skinAutohide
property which works poorly when FLVPlayback component is the same
size as your stage. The skin only hides when I move my mouse very
    slowly outside the FLVPlayback component.
Also making the FLVPlayback component smaller isn't an option
so what more options are there left?
Is there anyway to hide the skin by yourself?
I allready tried the following code, but I think this is very
unreliable (I get some errors when I move my mouse very quickly
over and outside the FLVPlayback component):
    video.addEventListener(Event.MOUSE_LEAVE, mouseLeaveHandler);
    video.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE,
    mouseMoveHandler);
    function mouseLeaveHandler(event:Event):void {
    video.skin = "";
    function mouseMoveHandler(event:Event):void {
    video.skin = "SkinOverPlayStopSeekFullVol.swf";

I am having the exact same problem. Thanks for info that this
is caused by movie being the same size as the stage. I am also
working on a solution and will let you know if I find one.

  • Skin control in swf file created from indesign not showing online

    Hi,
I used indesign cs5.5 interactive to create a swf file with embeded video and skin control.  When I view the video on my pc the video and skin control works but when I uploaded both the swf file and the skin control file  online to my client's server the skin control doesn't show. I suspect it has something to do with the path, is there somewhere I can specify the path to where the skin control is loaded online?
    Thanks.

Which file - the .swf or the .exe file?
If the .swf, you need to create a file association to the projector.

  • Component Video/Stereo Audio

Is there any way to get component video and analog stereo out of the new AppleTV with a apple converter? Need this to go into an existing 16x16 component matrix switcher.

The problem you will encounter doing this is that component doesn't carry HDCP, and therefore any HDCP content will not play on your Apple tv.
Not quite true, Winston. Check out the HDFury line of products. Their units include HDCP support. However, like most other such devices, the HDFury units do not include scaling capabilities. Therefore, you must be sure that the device to which you wish to connect it supports the TV2's 720p output as an input option. (E.g., my old Philips HD ready TV only supported 480p and 1080i but not 720p video.) Also of interest is the fact that some of these units also support HDMI to stereo/digital 5.1 audio via an analog/digital combo 3.5 mm cable.
In any event, I'm presenting the March SJAUG TV2 demonstration for our user group and just purchased the HDFury3 "Advanced Kit" in order to capture TV2 firmware menu images for inclusion in my resource presentation. It worked great! Both the HDFury2 and HDFury3 have switchable Component/RGBHV output options depending on your needs and connector adapter you use. Unfortunately, owing to the popularity of this device and sales demands here in the US, I had to order my kit from the Taiwan manufacturer.
