Folder option in KM search Iview

Hi All,
I am using KM search Iview, when I click on "Show Options" link in the header, it is showing many option like " Search Scope", "Display Results',"Filter by Properties", and ect..
Now I wanted to customize this search options, for this I choose "Search option set" under "Configuration-> Content Management -> User Interface -> Search ". I can manage to customize the screen to some extent. like enable / disable the properties etc....
Now, I have a problem.... I need to remove the radio button and option for " Folders (and Subfolders)" which have a radio button infront of it,a text area after the name and a browse button.
I dont want this option in "search scope" at all. I need only one option with Indexes. I tried giving default search as INDEX but still the folder option appears. What I need to remove the FOLDER option totall.
Any Idea? Also If I want to change the text or removing input boxes under a category like "Filter by Properties" what I need to do? where I need to make the changes.
Please let me know the solution.
1) remove the folder / browser option from "search scope" category.
2) remove / add new fields under "Filter by Properties" category.

The search from folders can only be customized using the parameter I mentioned. And this parameter needs to be added in the search iview, you are using - not the search option set, nor the search component set.

You will have to enter the predefined properties specifically in the search options set in order to give the end user the possibility to filter by these values.
2.2)
If you want to translate some of the labels from the Search Interface (headings for search components, labels for buttons, etc), you will have to edit the .properties-file I mentioned (and perhaps others).

If you could not remove the links for the Administrator then this might be caused by the fact that the administrator is using a different layoutset than the one, you configured.
If you want to change "size of file, view html links below the individual results / documents", you should go to your search result layout set > collection renderer > displayed properties (single entry in the collection renderer). Index options in a search iView

Hello all,
I have made a search iView based on the search iView template.
I have created a new searchComponentSet that contains a 'search_input_indexes'
and a 'search_language'
In my iView I have some check boxes to select languages, and a list with the indexes in which I can perform the search.
My problem is that all the indexes are displayed and selectable in the indexes list. I would like to have only some indexes in this list. How to do this?
I found only a default index field in the searchOptionsSet, but not a list.
Any help is welcome and points will be rewarded.

You have to create a SearchOptionSet "System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> User Interface -> Search -> Search Options Set"
where you specify the list of indexes you want to use, int the "Search Index IDs" or "Index Groups" parameters

From folder on Search iView

Is it possible to define a "search from" folder on the search iView? I was thinking about the query option. Any ideas?

Hi Ole,
you probably mean a preset search folder?
The answer is yes.
System Administration -> System Configuration
Left Navigation Panel: Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> User Interface (Show Advanced) -> Search
Starting from the Default Search Dialog Box you can open the Search Option Set of the standard search and define a 'Search Folder' and the 'Search from folder'-Mode (Scope). Mind tooltips of parameters.
You can also define an own Search Option Set for a special Search-iView.

Search for Missing Links in This Folder option not working

I'm running InDesign CC 9.2.1, though this problem has persisted throughout the last few years and previous versions of InDesign. My operating system is OS 10.9.3. In early versions of InDesign, you could check the "Search for Missing Links in This Folder" option box when re-linking a missing link and the missing image would be highlighted in the finder window of the new image location. I did not keep track of what version of InDesign it was when this function ceased to work properly, but I would like to see if there is something I can do to make it work again.
The "Search for Missing Links in This Folder" check box is still in the finder window, and is always checked, so in theory it should highlight the missing link/s in the folder it is searching in, but it does not. The example below illustrates my point. The InDesign document that I used to illustrate this was opened up and there were four missing links. When I select the missing link/s and hit the relink button at the bottom of the links palate, I navigate to the correct location of the link but the image doesn't get selected even though the "Search for Missing Links" is checked. The missing link it should have highlighted was 431-11 frontal.psd, which clearly exists at the top of the "Front Street" folder.
This isn't a big deal when the folder contains four images. But when it has hundreds of links, it is a pain to try to find all of the links that are missing when the file name is often truncated, or it has an odd string of only numbers, etc. Just checking to see if anyone has any insight to this issue.

I think the yellow alert triangle next to each link name means that you just have to update those links, by hitting the refresh button at the bottom of the link panel once all links are selected (it's two arrows in a circle)

Edit standard search options properties on km search iview

i've created a custom km search iview.
For that i've created a custom Search component Set and Search Options Set. I've enabled the Standard Properties on the Search Options Set. Is it possible to edit the layout for the Standard Properties.

what do you mean by 'change the layout of the standard properties'?

Custom Search iView - Portal Runtime Error when in role

Hello,
I have created a custom Search iView based on a standard Search iView, but I have some problems with it.
When this iView is placed inside a page and in the role and when it is being used (eg. user clicks Search), Portal Runtime exception occurs.
Additional information: Exception during PageProcessorComponent.doContent()
When I display this iView in preview mode, everything is fine, there is no errors.
Also when this iView is being accessed through URLiView everything is fine too.
So I think perhaps the problem lies somewhere in the portalapp.xml of this search iview.
Here are the steps which I followed to create a custom search iView:
1. I've imported the following par file: com.sap.km.cm.par.bak and created a project.
2. The project name is: mycompany.km.cm.
2. I've modified propertyapp.xml file so that the "basicsearch" and "search" components have some additional properties.
3. I've exported a par (mycompany.km.cm.par) and deployed it on the server.
4. I've created a search iView based on this par and put it inside a page and a role.
Maybe I'm missing something, maybe there are some additional steps which should be made, for example SecurityArea property in portalapp.xml file or something similar.
Help is very welcome cause I'm stuck with this.
The new properties are: HelpIViewPathToCall, "TagCloudIViewPathToCall, SearchIViewPath,KnowledgeBaseIndexes

KM SEARCH IVIEW??

Hi All,
I have created Discusiion Forum on Portal.
To implement SEARCH functionality in Forum to search thread
I have taken Following steps::
1) Created Index System Administration - - > System Configuration - - > Index
Administration - -> create Index and assigned Data Sourse aon the path below)
Content Administration - -> KM Content - - >Collaboration - - >Discussions-->109b(this is folder where threads of Forum resides)
2) Created KM Search Iview search proceeds very well BUT my Issuee is
1) In Iview i have to Manually Specify Index after clicking on Show Option and Index Groups
How can i have default Entry for this Index that it automatically selects the required Index for searching for that which property in Iview i have to set ??
2) I am haveing FIVE Rooms in my Discussion Forum so i have created five Index pointing Five diffrent location because threads for each five Rooms are located in five diffrent location.
Is theare any way with which i can have all the threads of my Discussion Forum ie all five Rooms in the same folder so that i can create one INDEX and assign path of one folder to that INDEX as Data Sourse.

use the concept of Taxonomies..I had a similar scenario where I used taxonomies to simplify the hierarchy of folders in KM for better search capabilities...you have example and query based taxonomies....let me know if that helps...

Since Apple is no longer providing MobileMe, and since my version of iWeb only has the option of publishing to mobile me (the "upgrade" eleviated the "publish to folder" option), how do I publish my web page to a remote host?

I used to have an amazing home page that I used with my students:

The school district "UPGRADED" to the new operating system. iWeb, which I have been using for years, no longer supports my ability to publish to the district server. Apple thought it wise to force us to use MobileMe. Furthermore, Apple decided that MoblieMe is no longer unavailable. To add insult to injury, the new version of iWeb doesn't even have a "save to folder" option any more. In other words, I can no longer use iWeb.
Am I totally screwed?
Is there another way to publish my site?
Will Apple make me purchase yet another "upgrade"?
Is this a total rip off?

ps. As a loyal Apple customer (since 1982), I find these antics very frustrating.

I suggest you upgrade to the latest iWeb version while copies are still availalbe: iLife '11 - Apple Store (U.S.). That's because it's now confirmed that iWeb and iDVD have been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
◼ Password protection
◼ Blog and photo comments
◼ Blog search
◼ Hit counter
◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken. If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows. Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.

However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone. How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
In addition the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on.
HOWEVER, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still currently available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those copies still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD.

Firefox 4.01 downloads files but the downloads windows greys out the "Open" and "Open containing folder" options and I can't trace the files

Three days ago I upgraded to Firefox 4.01. I downloaded several files that were ok. Yesterday and today I downloaded one powerpoint file and a an apple *.dmg file.
On the Download window these two files I can see with the total mb in size. However when I right click the file list in the Download window the "Open" and "Open containing folder" options are greyed out. What is more I cannot find these files anywhere on my computer when I use Windows Explorer to search.
It seems that this happened after I tried to download a Firefox add on from http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/addons/64761/amazonassist-0.7.2.6-fx.xpi and my antivirus picked up the JS/Kryptik.AK trojan and terminated the connection. Is there a link with the problem I am experiencing?

Search iView instead of KM Navigation iView

Hi,
the guide "How To... Tune the Performance of Knowledge Management" recommends to use Search iViews instead of KM Navigation iViews for performance reasons.
Can someone please explain how to configure these iViews? The Search iViews we use provide an input field which we don't need in this case. How can a search string be submitted, so that a Search iView directly displays the content of a folder as search result? Is there any documentation available?

There you find a sample how to start the search iView with a direct result list, by adding "QueryString=*" to the query parameter for the iview.

How to set only one Index-group for a Search-iView as default?

Hi Everybody,
i have a lot of index ID's for searching in different folders. Is it possible to set only one index-group as default for a search iView? Until now i get all groups as default in every search. It's inconvenient for the users to use the link of 'show options' in order to uncheck the other index ID's.

hi Seed,
To achieve this you have to follow the below steps
1. Create a new set of search options, choose System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> User Interface -> Search -> Search Options Set in the portal.
In that you have a field 'Index Groups', wherein you can specify which index group, the user has to search in. If there are multiple index groups, mention your index groups separated by comma.

2. You have to specify the option set that you created in step 1 in the default KM search iview. In the iview properties, under the field search option set, mention the option set that was created for this index group or multiple index groups.
This way, you can configure KM search iview to search in a single index group or multiple index groups.

KM Search iView for User Search

Hello,
I am trying to create a new iView for User Search based on the KM Search iView Template. However, in the properties of the iView (Property Editor) there is no option to assign the ume index (contains users) to the iView. I previewed the iView, entered just a "normal" search term assuming that the iView would at least search for something, but the following error message occured. "TemplateError during search occurred - com.sapportals.wcm.WcmException: Index is corrupted, rollback required;index=ume,location=iwdf0003:39103 (Errorcode 2008)"
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Hi Katharina,
now I understand. The problem is that you can't just use the KM search iView, you need to use a special iView based on com.sap.netweaver.coll.WhoIsWho or com.sap.netweaver.coll.WhoIsWhoNarrow. The configuration to be done (if you named the index for example not "ume") is described <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/05/a62c42de59da2ce10000000a1550b0/content.htm">here</a>.
You can also find this iView in the com.sap.netweaver.coll.demo.CollaborationDemoRole role by navigating to Collaboration Demo -> People-Centric -> Who's Who.

Open KM Search iView Results in New Window...??

Hi Guys,
I'm having an issue whereby I want the Search Results of a KM Search iView to open in a new window. At the moment its being displayed in the existing portal content area.
Under the iView Properties for KM Search I have the "Launch in New Window" options to either:
- Display in Portal Content Area
- Display in Separate Window
- Display in Separate Portal Window
- Display in Separate Headerless Portal Window
None of these seem to make any difference.
Any ideas?

Hi Dave..
In the properties of your KM iview..
In the end there is a property known as Window Features..
It Specifies the appearance of the new window launched by an iView whose 'Launch in New Window' property is set to '1'.
So
Here enter a list of JavaScript parameters separated by commas; for example: 'fullscreen=yes, toolbar=yes' (without the quotes).
*If empty, the new window opens according to the default JavaScript parameters..

Error in KM search iView

Hi All,
I have created a new KM Search iView.
I saw the iView's preview and entered a document's name (giving the folder's name: /documents/myFolder).. but, i got the following error:
AbstractTrexIndex.getLanguagesOfIndexedDocuments: Index does not exist;index=marketing_channel_sales_tools (Errorcode 2007)
In Search Scope >> Show indexes, i have 3 indexes:
1)Marketing
2)marketing_external_channel_sales_tools
3)rooms_test_index
Do i have to delete these indexes, if so how?? create new ones ??

Hi,
 In order to narrow down this problem you should check:
 1. System Administrator-System Configuration->KM->
 Index Administration-> and check these indexs are working. These must be appear in green.
 2. You can create a new one, point to other folder and index. After that try to make a search using only this index.
 3. Also, you can delete the index and try to create again. Using trexadmin tool you can analize it.

Displaying Predefined properties in a Search iView

Hi,
I have created a Search iView with a Show Options link. Now, when the user clicks on Show Options, I need a "Industry" property to appear with check boxes next to it. I have created the Search Component Set and Options Set. In the Search Options set, I have checked "Enable Predefined Properties" and in "Predefined Properties", I have specified "Industry". I did create the "Industry" property and have checked "Multi-Valued" and for "Allowed Values", I have specified Banking, Retail. However, when I click on "Show Options", I see "Industry" and a text box next to it. Is there something else which needs to be done? Can anyone please point me in the right direction? Thanks for all your valuable time and effort.
