Folders vs Folders Pro

Can anyone tell me the difference between the app. Folders and Folders Pro?
What I want to accomplish is storing documents (Word/Pages) in folders the better organize them.

I noticed that FCPX doesn't make much (any?) use of third party plugins..
Two factors hurt plugin support in the new version.  Running 64 bit requires 64 bit plugins (like Logic, looks like there's no bit bridge), and they updated the plugin spec so all plugins need to be updated to the new code.
Initially people had the impression that apple had dumped plugin support, but it's a case of third parties needing to update for compatibility.  A few plugins are updated and working already, but the situation could have been much better if Apple had made the new standard and beta copies of the app available to developers well ahead of release so they could be compatible from day one.

  • In IE I used different levels of folders for my favourites. After importing I miss the bookmarks of folders within folders within folders etc.

In Internet Explorer it is possible to organize favourites with folders as in firefox. In these folders you can make new folders and within those new folders. Can this tree structure be used in Firefox? After importing most of my favourites are gone, I can find no folders within folders within folders etc. So most of my favourites are not imported from IE.

Thanks for the helpful thoughts LarryHN. I'm having a Mac guy look at my MacBook Pro in the next day or so to see what he can find out. I described the issue on the phone... and like you, he said that saving my documents to a thumb drive shouldn't affect my iPhoto library.
One reason I bought the thumb drive was to back up my iPhoto library, but the time I got to that, it was already gone. I've thought of getting Time Machine (and have checked out other systems), but the reviews are so mixed, I'm dragging my feet on coughing up the cash right now.
When I launch iPhoto, I only see the last few weeks' worth of photos. Oddly, photos I imported 3 weeks ago appear, but are in a folder dated November 2012--when I know I took those and imported them in January 2013. So that's weird...
When I got to iPhoto Library, I have an Auto Import folder with nothing in it. "My Pictures" folder has nothing as well. I did hold down the option key while opening up iPhoto, but only my recent library (a few weeks' worth of photos) appears. I'm using iPhoto 2011 (6.2.3). I can only hope my Mac guy can help...

  • Put folders inside folders in iOS 7.1?

Before I start, I'll just say that I have an iPad fourth generation.
In the versions of iOS 7 before the recent 7.1, you were able to put folders inside folders on the home screen. I was wondering if there was a new way to do this.
Maybe it was removed because it was a bug or glitch, but I am one of those type of people that like to have a ton of folders and have folders inside of folders because is my way of being organized. I really want to have the ability to do this again because it was one of my favorite things about iOS 7. After the update to version 7.1 I was happy about most other things about the update, but the fact that I couldn't put folders in folders anymore wasn't a particularly good improvement for me.

I know I found it very annoying but hopefully they can have another update really soon so we can put a folder in another folder. Or hopefully the bug or glitch comes back :)

  • How do I created multiple folders within folders in "Photo"

How do I created multiple folders within folders (subfolders) in "Photo".  It happens in the first level when I use the Albums folder, but thereafter it doesn't allow me to create another folder within the folder.  I can also not drag a folder into another, after the first level of folders.  Please help.

Yes you can.  Click once on the top folder and use the File ➙ Create Folder menu option.  A new folder will be created inside the selected folder:

  • Sort photos into folders-within-folders? Thanks guys.

Hey guys, does anyone know if it's possible to place photo albums into folders? I.e. Can I essentially sort my photos into folders-within-folders? If not, any opinions on the best app that achieves this? Thanks guys.

1 - do not go into the iPhoto library using the finder and never, never make any changes of any sort to the structure or content of the iPhoto library using the finder or other programs - use iPhoto to manage your photos - it must totally control the library - it is a SQL database
2 - Within iPhoto you can create albums from photos and you can create folders - folders can hold albums or other folders
3 - you also have smart albums and the search in the lower left which lets you find any photo easily if you have assigned faces, places and keywords

  • Folders in Folders and backup

I'm a former Avid editor cutting on FCP. I'm nervous about cutting a feature in FCP because the file management seems confusing and unwieldy. For example, for some reason FCP keeps creating a new folders in folders - Autosave Vault in Autosave Vault, etc. Even though I save my project to a different folder, I have to find my last project digging through the Autosave Vault folder in the second Autosave Vault, to reopen my project.
When I start from scratch, the same thing happens. Very annoying. Is this operator error or a quirk I have to live with in FCP?

This topic has been argued back and forth for eons. Here are a couple of interesting threads:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2449286&start=0&tstart=0
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=12656046#12656046
    The bottom Line.
Initial file management in FCP is a SYSTEM preference. If file management were project based these threads would go away.
You'd be shocked to learn how many people stumble along with FCP for years without fully grasping the file hierarchy.
I've found that the best way to work is to create a folder at the top level of your work drive (I just call it FCP) and then point FCP to that folder as your scratch disc. That way at least everything will be in one folder.
_* Then never start FCP unless that drive is connected !*_
You can keep your FCP project files wherever you want but I set up another folder at the top level of the same drive (I call it FCP projects) and then I point my auto-saves to my system drive.
If you're capturing your own footage everything will go to the scratch drive.
If your importing pre captured footage you can simply make your own project folders with the media organized any way you want and only renders will go to the scratch folder.
For doing interim back-ups I set up another drive and drag my two FCP folders over manually. Then I use a really basic app called synctwofolders
    http://tcfj.pagesperso-orange.fr/site/index.html
You can use any program you want for periodic sync back-ups but I found this little app to be so basic and straight forward that it fit my needs perfectly. (If you use it make sure you donate!)
For doing final backups use Media Manager and send the files to a backup drive for portability or storage. You'll have a nice neat package containing all your media and FCP project file that will boot up on any system.
    Hope that helps.

  • Does Pages have the facility to create folders within folders?

Having the ability to do this would encourage me to change from Microsoft word to Pages. Is it possible?

In Pages for OS X, you can't create folders within folders if you are using iCloud to store your documents, but you can do this if you are storing them on your hard disk.
In Pages for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, you can't create folders within folders, so you are free to switch if you need this feature. Note that Office is only available for the iPhone if you are an Office 365 subscriber

  • Pages: creating folders within folders

Using Pages in iWork on a MacBook (system 10.9.4), is it possible to create folders within folders? Dragging one document  and dropping it on another one isn't working within a folder.

That is an iOS method, not an OSX method.
command shift n creates a new folder in Finder or in a Save dialog, then move or save the file into that folder.

  • How do i make sequence folders in Premier Pro CC?

I have only begun using Premiere Pro CC, and I want to know how to make different sequences in the same timeline with the same audio & video clips, so I don't have to save a new file and start all my editing all over again everytime I want to try out a different edit. I asked a friend who has used Final Cut Pro , and Premiere CS6, and she says there should be something called 'Sequence Folders' where you create a new tab for each different edit on the same timeline. However she cannot find where you create the sequence folders in CC like you used to in CS6. I'm sure it's probably a simple button or command hidden in plain sight. Can anyone tell me if this function is still available in CC please?

It sounds like you just want to create copies of your original sequence.
One of the ways to do that is to right click the original sequence (before you make any edits) and right click > copy.  The right click  in the media panel or in a folder in the media panel and then paste it as many times as you want copies.
Another way would be to create new sequences and copy and paste the media from the original sequence into those new sequences.

  • How do I create and activate watched folders in Acrobat Pro XI?

Our court reporting firm scans large amounts of client exhibits and would love to set up watched folders to convert images to text files. I know that former versions of Acrobat had separate versions of distiller.  What's the story in Pro XI. What is the recommended way to set up watched folders, if there is one?

As with previous versions Acrobat XI comes with Distiller. As with the previous version the use features of Distiller are the same.
Do note that Distiller only accepts *.PS files as input for creation of PDF.
All scanners initial output is an image file fromat (not *.ps). Other applications take the JPEG, TIFF, etc and process the image into other file formats (e.g., PDF).

  • Sharing folders between MacBook Pro and workgroup in windows 7

In September 2013 I was able to share folders between a MacBook Pro and 2 Windows 7 computers where all 3 computers belonged to the same workgroup.
Leelannee Cochran (at that time an Apple Level 3 support person) was satisfied with how I did it and I understood her to say that it would be "memorialized" by Apple.
I had a lightening incident where my cable modem was fried and had to be replaced.  Now, I am not able to share the files in the MacBook Pro
Would someone tell me how to share files - unfortunately, I had not kept the notes

    Thank you Team ZigZag
I have had 3 different vendors where I had to go to "higher" level support.  The most recent occasion was with my router where I overheard the "supervisor" tell the 1st level tech support person "there is no way that the router will work with a workgroup.
I pleaded that it had done so before I had to replace my cable modem.  Finally, I was able to share files between two windows 7 computers in the same workgroup and wrote to the manufacturer that I had done so, the reply was that they
are not responsible for 3rd party vendors!
As I mentioned, I was able to work my way to Leelannee Cochran who was a 3rd level support person at Apple, and she too was, initially, very skeptical and when I succeeded she offered to memorialize what I had done.  I had to use my methods to
re-establish the MacBook on several occasions as a "sharing" member of the workgroup.  I probably have lost my nerve and therefore am unable to recall exactly what I did
I found that  a third vendor, despite the claim that their product would work with Mac OS the higher level support person was using me as a "resource"  but my problem was that my computer kept crashing!
Trust me, frontline (1st Level) tech support are normally very competent but  it is not easy to reach higher level tech support persons when their expertise runs out and are reluctant to call for higher level support!
I have had similar nightmares with support and that why I volunteer here and elsewhere.  I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemies.  I have found persistence is the key.  I have, in the middle of a level 1 call where they said there was nothing
they could do and there was no supervisor aound, hung up and immediately redialed and wonder of wonder got the supervisor within 5 mins.
    Good Sleuthing on your part

  • Sharing Too Many Folders With XP Pro

So I have file sharing set up in Leopard and the only folder I have selected is a sub-folder to Documents. However, on my XP Pro computer i can see:
    \\computer\hard drive
    \\computer\my user name
    \\computer\Backup #time machine drive
\\computer\school #this is the only folder I want shared
so why are all these other folders/volumes showing up when they aren't selected to be shared?

if anyone has any clue about this please help me out, thanks

  • Accidentally removed var/folders  and Mac pro wouldn't boot.

I accidentally typed rm -rf * inside var/folders. Then the computer started behaving erratically. I tried to reboot but then it doesn't go beyond the grey screen.
I used the verbose option of the boot and it seems it gets stuck at the "waiting for DSMOS" step. Since I'm away from home and do not have my own DVD installer for the OS X, I used my friends' disk to see the problem with the Disk Utility tool. There seemed to be a problem and the utility repaired it. I tried rebooting the computer, but it still gets stuck at the same point.
I have checked using the Terminal option (with the DVD Installer) that the data on my hard drive is still intact. Is there a way to get my system boot.
    Not an option:
    1. Using firmwire.
    2. Using backup/ system restore: There does not seem to be any time machine or system restore options.
    3. Using the original DVD Installer for OS X as I'm out of station.
I can however buy a new DVD. Please help me boot my system. Thanks!

My ArchiveUtility (the one that unzips zipped files) was throwing an error regarding some disk permission. I searched online and found the instruction to use rm -rf * inside the var/folders. Now with some hindsight, it was the singlemost stupid thing I could have done.
A sidenote: I have logged in using the single-user mode. Is there a way to copy the var folder from this mode to the actual machine? I read there is an option of rewriting var with private/var using this mode in linux systems but not sure if there is a similar way for macs. Any thoughts? Thanks again for all the help!
