Font book is frozen after trying to create a "smart collection"

I am currently running OS X 10.9.4 on an iMac. I have added quite a few fonts for use with graphic design and have not had any problems until today. I tried to create a smart folder titled Scripts and I am now receiving the wheel of death. I have searched through the forums and googled online. My searches led me to restart the computer in safe mode. I then restarted it normally. That did not fix the problem.
I am not an expert (at all!) and am completely flabergasted at the moment. A lot of the sites recommended using the OS X install disk but I do not have one as this was a free update from the App store.
Your assistance is greatly appreciated!

Have you tried validating all your fonts, or at least the ones you want in your smart folder?
To validate fonts in Font Book, select them in the main Font Book window (command + A will select them all), then choose "Validate fonts" from the File menu.

Hi ,
Based on the error message, please check whether you have installed the spPowerPivot.msi add-in on each of your SharePoint server, and ran the configuration wizard, make sure that the powerpivotwebapplicationsolution.wsp
is deployed correctly.

Lightroom is not saving metadata. I have done several things to save and I still get the tag that states is is not saved. I have also created 2 smart collections. One showing metadata has been changed and one showing metadata is not up to date. No matter what I do it is not showing in LR that it is saved. I spent 2 days with Seth Resnick trying to correct this and we re created my catalog. It was ok, until I imported new images and same problem. Now I have a new problem, when I bring image to PS it saves it but does not bring back to LR. Am I the only one out there who has this problem?

Error while trying to create a Solr collection (java.io.IOException: The device is not ready)

Hello, everyone.
I'm trying to create a .cfm document that will erase a specific Solr collection and then re-create it, index it, and optimize it.
The delete works flawlessly.
Unfortunately, creating it isn't working, at all. I get the following message:
Unable to create collection publicsearch - An error occurred while creating the collection: java.io.IOException: The device is not ready.
This is a Windows 7 server running Apache and CFServer 9.0.1 (the version before Verity was cut.) I'm not getting any more details than the one error message. Any idea of what could be causing this? I've Googled this and I'm seeing a lot of issues similar, but not quite what I have happening.

Nevermind.. no one bothered to inform the developer that the path to the collection AND the path to the directory that the collection is for are different on this other server.

I tried to sync and upload the iOS 5.0 version to my iphone 4 all was well it was processing then it just stopped and Now my actual I phone is frozen. I have turned it off. I have rebooted it several times the I phone itself shows a CD with a music not over it and under it in small letters iTunes with an arrow pointing up wards and a picture of the small end cable on the screen . it will not move change unlock it is frozen into that position.. how do i get the useage of my phone back this is rather daunting wehn all i was trying to do was up load the most recent version upgrade of iOS.. Please help any suggestions thanks

THe phone is NOT jail broken.. all i want to do is have it return back to how it was before i started the updae version process obviously it did not take and now it is locked into plave the screen will not change.. after reboots and shut down when i turn it back on the same screeen appears the cd disc with the music note over it and the arrow pointing upwards and a picture of the small end of the charge cord that fits into the actual compute.. The phoen is not jail broken all i want is to get my phone back so i can use it i logged into i tunes and there is no where on the page that gives direction to return it back to its original format prior to trying to up grade .. whe at do i need to do to unlock the frozen compent and reutrn it back to its normal point prior to trying the upgrade

Touch is frozen after trying to install 2.0 update

I just unpacked my refurbished 16gb ipod touch, installed the latest version of itunes and even was able to throw a few songs on it. Trouble stuck when I tried dloading (purchased and paid for!) the 2.0 update so I could install the free games and aps etc. It took me to a screen where it said it would download and sync which could take up to 30 minutes. Only took about 8. I think it was 2 hundred something MB. So the progress bar looks like it is working, then I get an error message 5 min later with a number, 1602 I think it was. I'm not sure because I am unable to get to that point again. After that it says I should restore to factory settings, I will lose all my songs and installed aps blah blah, so I say yes do it cus this thing is f'ed. Then the progress bar comes up again and a different error message to follow (1604?). Now it is in this frozen state with a picture of the usb cord being plugged into the itunes icon ??? Has anyone else experienced this or had a similar problem? I called the customer support after hours (will call them tomorrow) and was chatting with this robot and there wasn't even an option for what I am describing in his list of 'frozen images' schpeal. There was the 'frozen apple' image, 'syncing to ipod' image and others but this sounds like a new one. HELP!

My iPhone 3gs has frozen while doing update 5.0.1 I think it was. All it shows is the iTunes logo and the usb cable on the screen. I will not turn on or off. I have tried reconnecting to iTunes but nothing happens. Have held both buttons for 10 seconds etc and nothing is working! What can I do?

Ipod touch now frozen after trying to upgrade from 1st gen to 3.1.1

I've got a 1st gen ipod touch and bought the upgrade software from i-tunes to upgrade it to 3.1.1 so I can add apps to my ipod touch. It started off well but then just froze!! My ipod touch has the apple logo and a progress bar which is partly completed. I left it for ages and nothing progress and when I checked Itunes it said it was no longer responding. I shut itunes down and tried to restart it but it just keeps saying its not responding. Any idea on what I can do to get my Ipod touch back to 1st gen or to complete the upgrade to 3.1.1?

- Try resetting the iPod;
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Next connect to computer and try to restore via iTunes- Next see if placing the iPod in recovery mode will allow a restore. For recovery mode:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
- If you can't turn the iPod off (e.g., logo, spinning wheel) always shows, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an hour try the above again.

My friend is in pieces, she has tried to update to 5.1.1. She wanted to sync beforehand to itunes but it told her to update to 5.1.1 so she did and now the phone is frozen. It's telling her to restore her phone. If I tell her to do a hard reset (home+sleep button) will she lose her data that's on her phone right now?

1. There is no such thing as a "hard" (or "soft") reset in iPhone terminology. What you described is actually called just a reset, or phone reset. See the User Guide, Appendix B
2. Resetting as above doesn't delete any data, but probably won't help if the phone is telling her to restore.
3. Restoring may lose data if she never backed up previous to updating.
4. Worrying about losing data is pointless if the phone is nonfunctional and can't access it anyway. It may already be gone or corrupted.
5. We all know it's you, not your friend, with this problem...

App has frozen after trying to download folio

Hello all,
I was contacted by a customer who has been trying to download one of our large folios (around 100MB in size and over 1200 "pages") for the past 3 days. It it a multi-folio app. Her app has since locked and she can no longer view previously downloaded folios. Internally, we have successfully downloaded the folio on iPads, iPhones, iPods and and an Android tablet without any issues. What course of action should she take to resolve this issue? She did not say what version of the iPad she is using but we did test it on an iPad 1 & 3 without any issues. It was created in V26. Any help and/or suggestions would be appreciated.

I was able to solve this by fixing the certificates as described here;

It took a little toggling to get it set, but it worked.
If you search there are several other options to fix this that are more common fixes. Search "app store blank screen fix"

My iphone 5 is frozen after trying to charge through my laptop.

the iphone screen is displaying the itunes logo with an arrow below and then the image of the charger. this occured after an itunes error on my laptop. I have tried charging through my dock. I also tried to reset but holding the off button and home key. that is not working. has anyone else encountered this?

recovery mode
open itunes on computer
plug cable into computer not iOS device
turn phone off
hold home button and plug cable into phone. do not release home button until an itunes graphic appears on device.
look to computer should have message about recovery mode click ok and restore

Can't change size of a picture after trying to create an action, help!!!

Just tried to automate a batch and resize, and then save for web all of the pictures - it didn't work the way I wanted (probably recorded something wrong). But When I tried to rerecord the action - it became impossible to change size of the pictures. What's wrong? I already restarted my computer, but the function of size changing still isn't working.

If all you want to do is to resize your images for the web you do not have to record an action you can do that with the Image Processor script that ships with Photoshop. Menu File>Scripts>Image Processor. You can also have it include one of your actions when its processing your images. You can also select image in the bridge then use menu Tools>Photoshop>Image processor

Iphone has frozen after trying to down load ios7

I tried to update my iphone 4s to ios7, then it said that i had to go on to itunes. I then went on to itunes to restore and update. It then said there was an error and the iphone froze while was waiting it to up load and it has been this way since. can anyone help!. oh and not sure what operating systems it is.

IPad frozen after trying to install iso 7

I just downloaded iso 7 on my iPad. I can enter my password, but it still says it's "joining network"...about 15 hours?! I can't cancel, I did get a pop up twice saying it wasn't complete, continue, so I clicked continue. But it's frozen on Joining network.
Any ideas? I can't go back to look, but I think it was the iso 7.0.2
