Font in Menu Bar and Drop Down list way too small

I just tried PSE 10 and was very surprised to see that Adobe did not address the problem with the font size being way too small in the menu bar and drop down list.  I cannot possibly read the font - so the program is basically unusable.  I am using a new 17inch laptop.  Is it possible that after all the complaints Adobe didn't fix this problem in PSE 10?  Are they even working on it?  I love the program but unfortunately I am going to have to switch to something else because there is no way I can read the font and thus cannot use the program at all.  Very, very disappointing.  Hopefully they are working on a fix???

Photoshop CS5 Essential has preferences that offer users the opportunity to adjust menu bar background color as well as font size.  For example,
"UI Font Size
If you find that Photoshop's interface text is a little too small for comfort, you can increase its size by changing the UI Font Size option to either Medium or Large. And no, this option isn't just for old folks with poor eye sight. Working on a very high resolution monitor can make Photoshop's interface text appear very small. Personally, I like to set my font size to Large which I find helps to avoid eye strain. You'll need to close and then re-open Photoshop for the change to take effect:
Change the font size to increase some of the text in Photoshop's interface.

  • Can anyone tell me how to increase the text size in my menu bar and drop down menus?

Just bought a new 27" screen iMac.  The menu bar and drop down menu text is much to small for me to see without leaning close to the screen.  Does anyone know how to customize the text to a larger size.  This is an issue for any program I open.

Once upon a time Apple displays packed in 72 dots to an inch (making their resolution 72 DPI). That meant that what we saw on screen at 100% scale was exactly what was printed on a printer - not to mention quite comfortable to read. However that advantage was eclipsed by the fact that photopgraphs and video were pixelated and the only solution to that was to increase the resolution - to pack in more dots per inch - which has the side effect of shrinking the size of text. Where I once used Word at 100% scale I now find it most comfortable at 150% scale.
There are several solutions. One, as Lex gave you, was to reduce the resolution of the LCD display. But unlike CRT displays, an LCD is tuned to a specific resolution and when you change it the results tend to be blurry. Another is to keep the resolution as it is and to adjust each program (if the program allows it). This makes Word usable and your browser can be set to use no font smaller than a size you set (which has some unpleasant side affects at some Web sites), but some programs and some parts of programs cannot be changed. The menubar and menus are among them. The third solution is one that Apple promised several years ago but has not yet provided - a resolution independant GUI. We can only hope that comes soon. And there's another partial solution - look in System Preferences under Accessibility.

  • In Firefox 4, how do I get back the context menu for the drop down list of the Location Bar so I can Open Link in New Tab, which I did often in FF 3?

Firefox 3 has a context menu for the drop down list of
the Location Bar. One option on this menu I used often
is "Open Link in New Tab" -- quite convenient.
This context menu has disappeared in Firefox 4.
    Can I get it back?

Firefox shows the "Use custom settings for history" setting as an indication that at least one of the history and cookie settings is not the default to make you aware that changes were made.<br />

I recently published a website and found that my menu bars dont drop down in Firefox or IE, except the first cell on the first menu bar.
    Here is the address: http://www.tvnewsjunkie.com/

There are too much sloppy coding to go through them all.
To help you on your way
line 4980: missing closing DIV tag
line 3693: missing closing LI tag
    line 142: empty LI element.
If you delete line 142, the first three menus will work, but then there is something that is stopping the rest to work.

  • How to increase size of fonts in Menu bar and in Safari toolbar?

How to increase size of fonts in Menu bar and in Safari toolbar?  Munu bar and Safari toolbar  fonts too small on a 24" iMac screen.
    Thanks in advance !

If you want to change the size of the font of a TextEdit text document, you do it in the preferences. Alternatively, if you want control over the size of the fonts, make it a Rich Text document, and then you can change the font size. You can either use the Larger or Smaller options, or Show Fonts to choose a size. You can elect to have new documents be Rich Text in the preferences as well.

  • Icons and toolbar text is way too small and hard to read (kind of fuzzy)

The toolbars (menu bars) at the top of the screen have letters and icons and symbols that are way too small to read. Also the background color options are limited. Light black on grey is hard to read. I have tried customizing all that I can. There used to be a thing in control panel called display, and we could pick all sorts of fonts and colors for all those toolbar strips. Where did that go? I am VERY FRUSTRATED!!

I've tried those, and have just decided to go back to 3.6. Firefox just seems to have too much input lately trying to tweak and adjust. Meanwhile, the later versions just end up looking worse and worse with each iteration. Icons too small, monochromatic tool bar, making icons harder to distinguish, and, worst of all, frequent crashes.
Perhaps some of these problems are because I'm using XP, but I've noticed many if not all of the appearance deficiencies with my laptop running Win7. Probably the most annoying thing about later versions, though, is the inability to set memory time for history. This alone is a deal breaker for me, and ultimately, as IE has gotten better, I may just go back there.

  • Firefox tab to fields and drop down lists with Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

Has any one else noticed some problems after upgrading to OS X 10.5? It seems I can't tab to every field, such as the "Keep me signed in for today" checkbox on ebay's login page. I used to tab to it before upgrading. I'm also tabbing past some drop down lists where you select the state where you live in sign up pages. And before you suggest it, I have already turned on "All Controls" in System Preferences->Keyboard & Mouse. I don't think that affects Firefox anyway since it is a system controls option and doesn't affect the actions in a browser window.
Also, some drop down lists no longer drop down. I can focus on the list and even change the value using the up and down arrows, but the full list is no longer displayed. Again, this changed with the upgrade to Leopard.
If any one has experienced these specific issues or something similar please share your thoughts and solutions.
    Mark

I am also having the drop down problem on my macbook, it's getting really annoying. On top of that, twice today (i just got the macbook three days ago) my keyboard will just stop working- i cannot type in firefox nor in finder or word.

  • Larger fonts in Menu bar and title bars?

I recently purchased an Intel Mac Mini for my mother. She does not have the greatest eyesight and I would like to increase the size of the font used in the menu bar, window title bar, etc.. In Windows there is a "large font" theme that does this very nicely.
    Is this possible?
The only thing I found that might help is the "Zoom" mode and thats not going to work. She has enough trouble using the mouse as it is and this will only be more difficult...
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Hi Jeff,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
You can use Universal Access, it's in Control panels
to 'display fonts no smaller than' a specific size,
this is probably what you're looking for
    regards,
    Peter.
OK, Let us try this again.
If I bring up "System Preferences" and then click on the "Universal Access" doohickey I get a control panel applet that has 4 tabs. The first tab labeled "Seeing" does not contain any option to set a minimum font size. It only contains the "VoiceOver", "Zoom", and "Display" options. None of these options allow me to set the minimum font size. The other tabs in the universal access applet are "Hearing", "Keyboard", "Mouse and Trackball" -- none of these contain anything to do with setting font size.
Perhaps you can provide more detailed instructions to find this mysterious font size setting?
I just searched again in this forum and found this recent discussion which seems to say it is not possible to somehow enable larger fonts in the menu bar and title bar and such. This is ridiculous. Since you can now get LCD displays that have very high pixel density the physical size of these fonts is quite small. Changing the display resolution is not a valid solution since everything gets blurry when you use an LCD at non-native resolution.
Here is URL to recent discussion.

Please tell me that it is possible to increase the size of the font in the menu bar... If I cannot do this I have spent $700 on a computer my mother cannot use.

  • Tables and Drop Down Lists

This is my first time using LiveCycle Designer (8.2)
I've tackled quite a few things thanks to the information I've found in these forums, but I have reached my complexity limit.
I am trying to create a survey form that follows a process map with sub-process maps.
Just to provide an idea of magnitude, one process map has eleven sub-process maps.
I created a dynamic table with the ability to add and delete rows on a flowed page.
The first row first column contains a drop down list.
For each selection in the drop down list, the form requires eight inputs.
Currently, I just copied the dynamic table for each subprocess.
Each sub process map will have a running calculated total based on two inputs and a cost based on input.
The overall process map will have the same.
The entire section should seperatly show a sum total.
I don't really know what would be best, but was thinking something along these lines:
based on the selection in the drop-down-list, if someone selects one of the sub-process maps
the row changes to allow the drop-down-list to be the one associated with that subprocess and
the two running totals show up and remain at the bottom of the table.
Only problem, is I have no idea how to do this.
I have tried making the tables invisible, but they still show the input areas of the input boxes.
Anyone feel like helping me figure this out?
Also, isn't there a way I can populate a drop down list using EXCEL?  I don't want to manually input thousands of process titles.
Oh, I don't have any XML capabilities, I am not connected to a server or any database, and everything runs at the client.

Thanks for the input, I will watch the video.
I was suprised that no one offered up any suggestions.
I changed the design of the form.  I didn't want to, but I was able to get the product out on time.
    Just out of curiousity,
Can I have a dynamic drop down list (A = {a1, a2, a3, a4}) that populates another drop down list (B = {b1, b2, b3, b4, b5} ) in table (Tb1) with one of the choices in the second drop down list (B = {b5}) is a dynamic choice that makes multiple expanding tables (Tc2, Te4, Tf5 out of a total of seven tables) appear each with their own (unique) drop down list?
    Or,
Would it be easier to have the first choice (i'm probably using this word incorrectly) "index" the options for the other drop down lists, etc....

  • Is it possible to resize the Menu Bar and other toolbars to make them smaller vertically?

With the update to Firefox 4 my menu bar and toolbars are now taking up significantly more space than they where previously - is there any way to resize them so they take up less space?

  • Equal Space between Menu Items and Drop Down Menü left aligned not possible?

It seems like I can either have equal spacing between the horizontal menu items and the drop down menu will show up centered , or I say the menu items should be of equal size, and then drop down will be left aligned. Is there any way of having equal space AND left aligned drop down???? Thanks in advance!

    Hello Anjum,
Thank you for reporting the issue. It seems to be a Bug and we have logged the same. Hopefully it will get fixed in coming releases.
As of now we do not have any workaround for same. However once we have some workaround, we will definitely share it with you.

  • Non-stop scrolling in tab bar and drop-down menus

Whenever I put my cursor over the tab bar, it scrolls uncontrollably to the end (scrolling backwards doesn't do anything). I've tried to use the keyboard to navigate, but whenever I press Control, the page zooms out rapidly and it's really tedious to have to keep resetting the zoom.
(This isn't just happening in Firefox - anywhere there's a dropdown menu, if I hover over it or select it it scrolls continuously too.)
But, pages don't scroll down constantly. It's only the tab bar and dropdown menus.
And I've just now discovered that I can't use the Shift key anywhere in Firefox because apparently it makes me go back. I have a feeling that Shift+scrolldown is a shortcut to go back. (I had to write this post in Notepad and copy and paste it in.)
I have one of those cheap Jenkins wireless mice. I've taken the battery out to try and reset it, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. I've reset the computer.
It's been doing this since yesterday. I don't want to uninstall Firefox because I don't want to lose all my tabs (in the middle of a major essay and I need to try and keep everything).
EDIT: I tried to use Chrome, and on Chrome pages scroll uncontrollably. This is a real pain because I don't seem to have drivers for my wired mouse anymore and it's really hard to install drivers without a mouse!
EDIT: I hard-reset the PC out of frustration and it seems to have stopped. But I'd like to know how else I could fix this if it happened again.

Sounds that this is an issue with your mouse or the mouse driver software.
Did you try another mouse or try a basic mouse driver?
Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
