Font problem (font doesn't work in preview?)

I've been working on a book with the arial narrow fonts (regular, italic, bold , bold italic). I've tried using the open type and the true type version of the font but always end up with one of the fonts not working when I preview the book on my ipad. When I use the true type version, arial narrow regular works but the other variations don't (I also get a message that the true type version is not supported on IOS when it should... So it's weird...). And when i use the open type version narrow regular is the one that doesn't work...Does anyone know what the problem is?

An iBA 'preview' is just a dumbed down PDF.
For a reliable test that will duplicate what your users will see/experience, use iBA's Share/Export menu to output an .ibooks file, then drag that to iTunes and sync w/your iPad.

Font in CS4 doesn't work in CS6

I have a TrueType font that a friend made me a few years back. It's my favorite font and I use it frequently; however, I recently upgraded from CS4 to CS6 and the font doesn't work properly in CS6. It does show in the font menus, but now in CS6 it's sorted in a separate font category (along with the Arabic fonts at the bottom), and the sample in the font menu is now merely squares in place of characters. There is a Regular and Bold verison of the font and both have the same issue.
What changed in CS6, and does anyone know how I can edit the font to make it work with InDesign again? I know I can just pick a new commercial font, but I have such a back log of work that used that font I'd prefer to just fix the font. This is on a Mac, and FontBook validates the font just fine, other apps (including CS4 also work fine with it), I'm not using any font management software (I use FontBook merely for validating the font.)
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I was able to fix 1 of the 2 problems. The font did in fact have some extraneous language entries in it's name table. I was able to edit those out and now the font sorts in the normal font list, and not in the Arabic font category.
But the font preview feature in the font menu is still showing boxes (instead of characters.) This is where it gets weird... if I go into Preferences and change the Font Preview size from Medium to Small or Large it works correctly. Just not with Medium (the default.) I've tried clearing font caches, etc, but I could at least live with small or large font previews in order to use the font with CS6.
To answer your question, the font does work correctly when setting type; however, if Font Preview is on the font will eventually be automatically disabled and drop out of the Font menu. Relaunching InDesign CS6 brings it back. Turning off Font Preview prevents this from happening.
I wonder what is different in CS6. Other apps work fine with this font (including CS4.) Even apps like Pages that also have font preview in their font menus.

Changing font in canvas doesn't work

While in the emulator and in my old Motorola V975 it works, in my Moto V3i it doesn't (the font remain always the same).

Check the documentation on your device to find out which fonts/variations are supported. Not all devices support all font variations.

Under accessibility you can make the text bold, that might help.

"Find Next" feature doesn't work in preview.

The only way I've been able to search for text in preview is searching the whole document. This doesn't work too well when the pdf is an 1100 page text book. When selecting "Find Next" from the drop down menu I get no response at all. Also, is there any way to turn off the "seach as you type" feature? Please help, this is my only hang up with using Preview.
Unfortunately using adobe reader solves the problem, but I really do loathe the clunky interface and choppy scrolling.

I am running OS X 10.8.2 (supplemental) and Preview v6.01.
I can search for a particular string in a PDF. It will highlight all occurrences in yellow. Then, whether from the Find menu > Find Next, or by using Command+G from within Preview, it will quickly step to the next occurrence of the Find target. Just tested this on my machine, and it works fine. Nothing special set to make this work.
Unaware of any setting to disable search as you type feature.
If there is a com.apple.Preview.plist file in your home directory/Library/Preferences, you might try dragging it to the Trash and emptying it.

DHCP & self-assigned IP problem-Airport doesn't work

I'm not really a technical type, but I'm pretty quick to pick things up and several weeks of trying to deal with this issue has made me pretty knowledgeable about things related to it specifically.
Background:
I have a month-old Macbook Pro that runs Snow Leopard and is up to date on all its software stuff. On our home network we have another pretty new Macbook Pro running 10.5.9 and a fairly old Macbook also running 10.5.9.
We have a Linksys WRT54G wireless router. Our network uses a 40-bit Hex WEP password.
Problem(s):
When I try to connect to our wireless network, Network preferences tells me that it cannot connect because of a self-assigned IP address. Sure enough, the IP address DHCP comes up with is of the 64.XX.XX.XX variety. Google's revealed that this is a common problem for all recent versions of OSX, back to at least Tiger.
The "subnet mask" it comes up with is 255.255.0.0, which is different from the settings on our other (working) computers, which is 255.255.255.0. I'm not sure what this means, or whether it's significant. Renewing the DHCP lease either comes up with the same 64.XX.XX.XX type or, sometimes, it comes up with no IP settings at all. The most frustrating thing about this is that if I chose "DHCP with manual address" and type in any in our set that I've confirmed isn't in use and hit "apply", as soon as I go back to the panel it has reverted to the 64.XX.XX.XX type.
I've also tried manually entering the router/subnet mask/IP data, as well as the DNS numbers, and that leads to the Network Settings connectivity dot thing being green, but the internet still doesn't work. In those cases, diagnostics claims that everything is fine up to and including the ISP, but that it's unable to connect to the server and internet.
Of note: some people with a similar problem have talked about networks with this problem working intermittently, but mine seems to be consistently broken.
Initially I was able to avoid fixing the problem by using our neighbors' unsecured wireless network, which is sort of awful, I know, but at least it kept me from having to deal with this for a while. Today it started to do the same thing to that network. Both networks continue to work on our Macbook and other Macbook Pro, which is why I don't think that it's a router problem.
I've been able to connect to our other computers through computer-to-computer networks—going through our main shared network (and thus the wireless router) doesn't seem to work—which I think shows that the Airport card/hardware itself is intact (?). I did try connecting to the internet through the "internet sharing" option on our Macbook, but that had the exact same problems.
Another thing that may or may not be relevant, but is equally infuriating:
I've also noticed that my Macbook Pro has more trouble staying connected to a network than our Macbook—even when it was working, it disconnected/timed out extremely often, which is something our Macbook never does, even from the same location. When I try to connect to a network it spends a very long time displaying the "searching for network" animation in the menu bar icon, sometimes after the Network Preferences pane believes that it's connected, and sometimes even after I hit the button to turn Airport off. It's also started refusing to connect to any networks at all, on occasion, which is especially evident in the process of the diagnostics box thingy, because there it actually tells me it's unable to connect rather than just playing the searching animation for ages.
Here are some other things that I've tried:
setting up a new 'location'
restarting the computer
deleting the airport preferences file
restarting in safe mode
restarting open firmware
confirming that the firewall allows all incoming thingies
resetting the router
making sure the keychain password allows all applications to access it
connecting to the internet through a computer-to-computer network from another machine
Because the situation has deteriorated over time, I'd also like to know whether people think that it's two problems (the type of router then later the airport hardware(?)/software(?) itself, perhaps) or just one. Since I've tried basically everything besides switching out our router, I'm kind of inclined to blame it on that, especially because one of the more plausible explanations for this problem that I've heard is a time-out error due to Airport expecting a faster response than it's able to get from older routers; however, the fact that other networks haven't been working means that it's not likely to be just the router. If it's just one problem, which is the simpler explanation, then I guess there's something properly wrong with my computer's software, in which case I guess I'll take it to the Apple Store. :/
I'm in love with my computer otherwise, and I'll admit that I spent a good twenty minutes sobbing out of frustration over this. Any help would be immensely appreciated.

Try Changing the Airport Channel
Open AirPort Utility, located in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder on a computer using Mac OS X.
Select the device you’re setting up, and then click Manual Setup. Enter the base station password if necessary
Click AirPort in the toolbar, and then click Wireless.
Choose a new channel from the Channel pop-up menu.

Most people are not willing to download files, and using a service like medifire lessens the chances (a viral-behaving site). You will increase your chances of geting help if you explain the details of your design, what is not working, and provide any relevant code in your posting. A link to demo the failed functioning swf could be helpful as well.

Why report problem doesn't work?

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on seven different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
- Did it ever work properly?
- Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.

Hyphenation problem! doesn't work...

Ok, I've been using paragraph styles and checked the hyphenate option and doesn't work.... did it manually and nothing, tried with other type, other text, other version od Indesign... and nothing!
Please if someone know if there is something that may block it, I'll appreciate your help!

Check your paragraph styles to be sure a language is applied, and you can use Find/Change to fix any words that have no language applied. Use the GREP tab and search for .+ and change to $0. In the find formatting choose [No Language] and in the change formatting choose the language of your choice.
It's also possible that some words had a character style applied that specified the [No Language]. If that's the case it would be better to search for the character style rather than the [No Language] in the find options and and change the caharacter style to None in the cahnge uption rather than specifying a language. That way your paragraph and character syles will continue to work as intended.

Mail Message List Font in Preferences doesn't Work

I have just upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion and am trying out the new features.
In Mail - which I think captures all of my email even though I am on iCloud - I can't seem to get the font on the Message List (on the left where it lists all of your email) to get larger.
In Mail Prefrences it allows you to increase the "Message List" font but when I do this nothing happens. In fact, none of the changes to any of the font sizes seems to do anything.
I have a large screen and hate to keep squinting on my email list. What am I doing wrong or is there something else associated with this Mail Preference selection?
Or, is it just not working?
Help or suggestions appreciated.

Turns out that there is no way to change this unless uing the classic mailbox... We're stuck with the default setup on the new style.

Tweening text problem (suddenly doesn't work)

Hi,
Hopefully someone has had this issue before and managed to
resolve it. For the last couple of times I have opened Flash I have
been unable to tween text. I am turning it into a Graphic symbol
and using a Motion tween as I have always done. The tween is
working (if I slide the timeline scrubber across I can see the
effect working) but when I preview (CTRL, Enter) the text just
stays in its full Alpha state and refuses to tween
Any ideas!!?!?

Didn't change anything and now audio doesn't work when previewed

I have an iMovie (with stills and clips) and a song file (unprotected) that I tested previously and it worked fine. I noticed that one of the title slides had a typo in it, so I fixed that and shared to iDVD again... and now none of the audio works! I don't get it, I didn't add another song or clip that could have conflicted with the sound, all I did was change some text on a title slide!?? Any idea how to fix? This is a Christmas present and I'm seriously stressing!

Thanks - I actually did try that already. I also deleted the iDVD preferences, however—and I know this is going to sound crazy—but I think the problem may have been a font?!? Don't ask me how that could affect the sound, but text is the only thing I changed... and when I looked back at the title slide some of the text had reverted back to Lucida, and when I fixed it, the sound worked again! Have you ever heard of anything like that??
