For P.O.D. Printing: How to Set Adobe RGB Color Space

Hello and thanks in advance,
(I'm using InDesign CS 5.5 on a Mac.)
I need to set the proper PDF export settings
For printing a book on demand, with color drawings inside on the text pages.
The onnly instructions that I have been able to find, say this:
"Submit your graphics in the Adobe RGB color space, withprofile embedded."
The Big Question: How do I do that ?
I know enough to start with
File --> Adobe PDF Presets --> Press Quality
Then I click on the "Output Menu"
and here's where I start to get lost.
for
Color Conversion ...
I think I should select "Convert to Destination"
for
Destination
I think it should be "Adobe RGB (1998)"
Now in order to embed this profile,
What should I select under:
Profile Inclusion Policy   ?
And is there anything else I should be doing to get these inside color images printing nicely ?
Thanks again,
IthacaAuthor (aka ZorbaTheGeek, but the forum would not let me log in with my old screen name)

Virtually all digital printing is done via either PostScript or PDF. In the former case, the PDF is converted to PostScript viat use of Acrobat and in the latter case, the PDF is sent directly to the digital printer.
In either case, CMYK is in fact the actual destination color space. There are no real RGB printers!!! What is true is that non-PostScript / non-PDF printers (typically low end laser and inkjet printers as well as specialized inkjet and dye sublimation photo printers) do take in RGB via drivers and convert that to CMYK, but I don't believe that is what you are dealing with.
Our recommendation at Adobe for best printing results, whether for offset or digital printing, is to export PDF as PDF/X-4 with no color conversion using the default CMYK color space (SWOP CMYK) or if instructed otherwise by your print service provider, one of the other CMYK color spaces provided by Adobe or by the print service provider themselves. FWIW, most on-demand digital print devices do have settings to fully emulate SWOP CMYK printing conditions. Using PDF/X-4 in this manner allows the existing color content in your InDesign document to be properly tagged in the output PDF file and converted to CMYK at the digital printing device's RIP.
(It might also assist us if you can provide a pointer to the explicit instructions provided by your print service provider.)

How to set a fixed color to a disabled button?
I have a boolean button which has 3 status: on, off and disabled. I don't like the 'grayed and disabled' option. I will use red for off, green for on, and white gray (foreground color) for the disabled status. The HTML color code is BDBDBD. I tried to send the hex number 'BDBDBD' to the button property node 'color[4]' but was told that I was wiring to the wrong type of terminal.
Could any one post a sample code of how to construct the structure of 'color[4]' using a RRGGBB number?

    g2.setStroke(dashed);
    g2.draw(new Rectangle2D.Double(50, 50, 200,100));
what I need to implement is two colors interleave on the dash line.

  • How to set adobe acrobat 9 pro as pdf default program on mac snow leopard OS?

how to set adobe acrobat 9 pro as pdf default program on mac snow leopard OS?

I say to highlight more than one if you can because if the PDF you highlight was made by using Acrobat, it will change all PDF's made by Acrobat but if you have one made by some other product, it may not change them to open with Acrobat.
So in other words, at some point you may have to do it to a PDF made by some other product.

  • In the toolbar I click on color face and see the RGB color space view. How do I put them into CMYK?

In the toolbar left I click on color face and see the RGB color space view. How do I put them into CMYK?
    German:
In der Werkzeugleiste klicke ich auf Farbfläche und sehe den RGB-Farbraumansicht. Wie stelle ich diese in CMYK um?

I design print material. I hope Adobe will change it.
The ID Color Picker works the same as Photoshop's classic color picker except that it doesn't have an H,S,B presentation (which is the more intuitive interface). So both programs let you choose an R, G, B and L, a, b presentation of color via the 6 radio buttons, and you can pick RGB, Lab or CMYK versions of the chosen color—the mode you get depends on where your cursor is. If you pick an out-of-gamut CMYK color it is brought into gamut in the Swatches or Color panels after you click OK.
So here I'm picking RGB, Lab and CMYK Swatches or Colors of the color selection because my cursor is in a respective RGB, Lab or CMYK field, note that the Add Swatch button changes accordingly:
When I click inside the color field, the CMYK values are a color managed conversion of the chosen color, but I also have the option of entering any value. So it would be unlikely I would get a blue gray color like 50|0|0|50 with a color managed conversion, but I have the option to enter those specific numbers.
The 3 versions of the color added as swatches
An InDesign document can have a mix of RGB, Lab, and CMYK colors. Colors and swatches can be converted to any CMYK destination space when you export or print.

Hell all! I just wanted to share a great link on how to set up Google Cloud print on HP ePrint-enabled Printers and on HP classic (legacy) printers. Please note that if you don't have a google account you will need to create one to use this feature. Also, for the classic printers you need to have the Google Chrome Browser on your computer. • How to set PS for the most reliable image previews and how to make sure the color spaces are the same across plateforms

I've been having an ongoing problem with some of my images changing color/luminance values after merging or flattening an image. This seems to most often happen if I use one of the filters (like crosshatch or notepaper, not sharpen or blur). I can make a copy using command/option/shift + E which most often will look exactly like what's on screen.
Some people have suggested that it's to do with resolution, PS showing me a low resolution image but I don't think so because the histogram changes -- sometimes in a big way, but most often those spikes in the luminance levels are shaved off. Also, when I have the image open at 100% and effect a merge/flatten, the color changes.
I'd like to know if there's a way to have PS show me one for one what I'm working on while I'm working on it, or if there is a way to control the color profiles when I'm saving. My best guess at this point is that there is a color profile mismatch going on somewhere. I just don't know where to look for it.
    Typically I work in 16 bit, so my color space is set to ProPhoto RGB; my camera is set to the Adobe color space;
    color management policies are set to preserve color profiles;
conversion options --> intent is set to relative colorimetric.

But it is calibrated. I use Xrite 1 and update it every month (on the first).
The colors can be really off. Here's an example.
    https://flic.kr/p/r6A1Zd (what I want) https://flic.kr/p/qc5QTD (not what I want)
Also, I can't see how the bit depth will have any effect since the change in color happens in PS when I merge or flatten. It's 8 bit through the editing and 8 bit when I flatten it.
Have you any suggestions on what I can do on the computer side?

  • How to set a background color to view

    Hi All,

i didnt find any color options for the view called RootUIElementContainer.the width and height of the view are setted to the browser means 1024*768.
Just like sap editor which we get by the link https://www.sdn.sap.com i want to get my view .....
I want to set color to this RootUIElementContainer element which effect the whole view...not the containers or groups which i add under this RootUIElementContainer
    Regards

    hi Padma,
For changing the background colour you will have to make the change in the theme.
You can download the theme editor plugin for eclipse from SDN. With this plugin, you can make changes to the default themes , save as a new theme
Or if you are using portal, then goto system administrator, theme editor, select SAP Streamline and change the color in Screen areas -> application, then save the theme with different name.
    Best regards,

  • How to set the Background Color of a Text Field in a Tabular Report.

    Hello,
I tried to set the Background Color of a Text Field in a Tabular Report.
But I was not able to change this colur.
In the report attributes --> column attributes
    I tried already:
    1. Column Formating -- >CSS Style (bgcolor: red)
    2. Tabular Form Element --> Element Attributes (bgcolor: red)
    but nothing worked.
    Can anybody help me?
    I Use Oracle Apex 2.2.1 on 10gR2
    thank you in advance.
    Oliver

in "Report Attributes" select the column to move to the "Column Attributes" page. In the "Element Attributes" field under the "Tabular Form Element" region enter
    style="background-color:red;"
I will also check if there is a way to do this via the template and post here again
    edit:
in your template definition, above the template, enter the following:
    < STYLE TYPE="text/css" >
    .class INPUT {background-color:red;}
    < /STYLE >
(remove the spaces after the < and before the >)
change "class" to the class that the template is calling
(I'm using theme 9, the table has: class="t9GCCReportsStyle1" so I would enter t9GCCReportsStyle1)
A side-effect of using this second version is that ALL input types will have a red background color--checkboxes, input boxes, etc.

  • How can I preserve RGB color within Adobe PDF?

I'm using Acrobat Pro 9.3.1, OS 10.6, and I'm creating PDF output from Keynote, strictly for on-screen viewing.  I would like to use Acrobat Pro to create a compact PDF file with screen-resolution graphics, however I keep running into problems with color changes applied by Acrobat.
The document contains bright RGB colors.  It also contains images, some of which are high DPI resolution.
    * If I use the OS X "Save As PDF..." feature, the generated file is about 32 MB.  Opening the resulting file with Preview, the file looks fine.  Opening the resulting file with Acrobat, though, shows the bright colors in the file as very drab-- almost as though it's been compressed into CMYK space.    Once it's in Acrobat, I can use the PDF Optimizer and save it as a mostly-adequate 10 MB file, but the color issue is annoying.
    * If I use the "Save as Adobe PDF" feature, and save the file with "standard" settings, the resulting PDF file is 27 MB.  If opened in Acrobat, it shows the same CYMK-like color compression, and if opened in Preview, it shows the bright colors.
    * If I use the "Save as Adobe PDF" feature, and save the file with "PDF/A-1b:2005 (RGB)" settings, the resulting PDF file is 50 MB. In both Acrobat and Preview, it shows up with full and correct colors. So obviously Acrobat is capable of handling RGB after all.  But this format is not really compatible-- it throws a warning about viewing in that format, and has all kinds of graphical glitches.  And, the file is even larger than I started with.
So, what I would like to know is this: How can I set up acrobat to let me produce those nice 10 MB files, without showing the funny color compression?

    p taz wrote:
Ummm... not quite sure where you get that from, colour managed means converted as per settings in the device or application.  Acrobat preset for PDFX/1a specs a conversion to cmyk.  Other presets include RGB or unconverted and these are chosen by the app or user.
This is where your problem is, something inside Keynote is applying a conversion.  I was just eliminating the obvious, not just for you but for other, less knowledgeable readers.
Preview will use the monitor or sRGB profile and the only way to make sRGB or equivalents look flat is to feed it an untagged file that belonged to a very different gamut.
    3. Yes, conversion is happening.  That's what I'm trying to prevent.
By definition, not converting means UNmanaged..  what you were calling unmanaged before is actually MISmanaged.
As mentioned, Acrobat, to my knowledge does not convert without being told to.  That instruction comes from the built-in actions of the application in question or a user choice and you may not be able to address the former.  If the former was the case then you might be able to work around by preparing your original file in a small gamut like sRGB and then it doesn't matter what Acrobat does unless you chose an unsuitable conversion at the user level.
    > Acrobat preset for PDFX/1a specs a conversion to cmyk.
Okay.  That confirms what's going on.  Is there a way to turn this setting off, open the file, and then save it?
    >This is where your problem is, something inside Keynote is applying a conversion.
No, actually keynote is irrelevant.  You can blame it and its color mismanagement all day, but the fact is that the change happens when it's opened in Acrobat with the default settings.  We know this because PS or PDF generated by keynote shows up okay in Preview or in that RGB PDF generated by distiller.  It's absolutely unambiguous.  I know that Acrobat is capable of converting the file without converting the color because it can make that RGB PDF.  I know that my monitor isn't totally whacked because if I view that same "RGB PDF" on a different machine and/or OS, it look fine there too.   But what I want to know is how to create that "RGB PDF" without the crazy bloat and iffy file format.  There must be some settings that can be applied in Distiller to get this done.
From the suggestions that have been made here, it sounds like not many people have actually used recent versions of Acrobat Pro or Distiller on the Mac. (Options like "Email Files" and "PDFX4 2008" aren't there, converting PS files appears to broken, print to PDF is broken....)  That's okay, I don't expect you to know everything about this.  But, telling me just to not use the color blue or that my other programs are to blame isn't exactly helpful either.  Am I asking the questions in the right place? Is there some Adobe tech support venue that's more appropriate?

  • Setting custom rgb color

I'm trying to set the background color of my app to dark green. How do i go on doing so?
    It's not accepting " setBackground(Color(0, 128, 0)); "

  • How to get the RGB Working Space from within a Filter Plug-In?

Within my Filter Plug-In I need to access the image's icc profile data. I know this can be accomplished with the according data structure 'iCCprofileData'. But what if there is no profile assigned to the image? Then iCCprofileData is NULL and the default should apply which is the 'RGB Working Space' (assuming the Plug-In works in RGB mode only, what it does). But how can I get to know what the 'RGB Working Space' is from within my Plug-In?

As far as I know, the profile provided to the plugin API should never be NULL. If the image is not color managed, it still should have the working space profile in the ICCProfileData field.

    Hi all,
We are on R12 instance and have requirement of check printing on preprinted stationary. For this requirement we are customizing standard RTF template.
Preprinted stationary layout is like upper part ( check nmber, check date) then body part ( invoices details ) and then trailer part ( check amount, supplier name)
Problem: When I am printing check against only one invoice then print is coming properly but if I print check against more than one invoice then trailer part (check amount, supplier name) is moving forward. I want trailer part to be fixed on same position.
